West End Restaurant - It's probably been 20 years since I last visited this place. I must say, it was a lot nicer than I remember it! Food was filling!

The pickled eggs were great. I had sugar cream pie, which was more of Amish style (this is Adams County), still very good. Really the only issue was the mildew smell upon entry.

The mean age group of customers was definitely in the 60s, which made us the youngest couple in the room. This fact apparently warranted stares from all of the customers & staff upon entry, which made for an incredibly uncomfortable breakfast before we even made it to our table. I am unsure if us being younger & from out of town/state is what caused the subpar service from the staff, or if it is always that way, but they sure appeared to visit the other tables to check on them, but they also all seemed to know one another & are probably regulars. On to the food. Wow. This is the entire reason for the single star. I can understand bland eggs & potatoes, but how the heck do you have bland corned beef?! The corned beef hash & cheese omelet was one of the most tasteless things I have ever tasted. That wasn't even the worst part about the meal. The center was so unbelievably piping hot when the outer portions were merely lukewarm, tricking you into thinking that it was cooled enough to eat, that I severely burned the roof of my mouth. Not a simple "oh, that's hot" burn, but a 2nd degree burn to the roof of my mouth, which was so bad that it had caused the skin to blister by the time we walked to the parking lot that had broken within the hour & layers of skin on the roof of my mouth were peeling away for days afterward. I am writing this review a week & a half later, & the skin is barely healed, but I still have a gouged "dimple" in the roof of my mouth where the burn was at its worst. Honestly, the pain & the burn may have been worth it if the food was at least good, but I couldn't taste anything in it aside from all of the salt & pepper that I had to add to it to give it SOME form of flavour. It's just unfortunate that I was forced to eat even more bland & mushy food for a week afterward thanks to the 2nd degree burns that this restaurant had provided to me. I can't believe I paid them for this. Shame on us both, I suppose.

We had 27 people in our party with a menu of salad bar, all you can eat fish and chicken, fries or baked potato. They had a table set up for our cakes and other party desserts. Very kind of them to do so. We had one of the back rooms which gave us privacy for the party. Our two servers, Nikki and Shelley, were exceptional. They made certain that we had a great time while never letting us get close to running out of food. The salad bar was well stocked and the house French is a must have. The hot foods were piping hot and fresh. Needless to say, we left with full stomachs and great memories. Would definitely recommend whether you have two people or a large party. I can't say enough good about The Galley.

This facility is large and has some age. The building is generally in good condition and clean. The decor is not all that attractive as it is kind of dated. The wait team was very friendly and spot on with service and refills. We started our lunch with salad bar and a fish sandwich. This must be a pretty common order as is saw a lot of fish sandwiches being delivered. For the price it was a good option. The salad bar is unique in shape. The lettuce and side fixings are pretty basic. They were all fresh and the bar was clean. However these items weren't very impressive. I was surprised to see several homemade salads on the bar. These items were fresh and had a nice taste. They just were overly impressive. The fish was impressive! The fish is lightly breaded with a slight bit of seasoning. The white fish was very tender and moist. It just flaked apart. The bun was a run of the mill purchased bun...that really hit in the way of eating the fish. The fish was piled HIGH on the bun...perhaps two or more large pieces of fish. The tarter sauce was slightly sweet and had a nice pickle relish accent. The sauce was smooth and cream and easily dabbed on the fish. Overall the fish was outstanding! Give it a try!

It was not busy when we arrived at 3:00 in the afternoon. Fairly quiet except for the TV's playing. Not a large building, so seating is limited. Took the parents. Dad had never been. The server was very friendly but was the only one in the place serving. Not quite as quick service, given that. Dad and mom each ordered six boneless wings with BBQ sauce and shared an order of onion rings. Husband and I each ordered the Barron Grilled Chicken with a side of onion rings. The Barron comes with mushrooms, bacon and cheddar-jack cheese. I added bbq sauce and pickles to mine. Husband added lettuce, tomato, and pickles. We waited. For quite some time. Dad began to wonder if they had to butcher the chickens. But the food eventually arrived. This is common at this location, so we weren't really surprised. We were in no hurry, so it served to slow the pace of life for a bit. The wings looked delicious as did the onion rings. The Barron? It was incredibly tasty and very filling. We... never did taste the mushrooms tho. Didn't locate any in the sandwich. Still very good. The spicy ranch used to dip the onion rings in is something I'd highly suggest getting as well. A nice little kick to it. All in all, we decided we need to start frequenting it more often. Definitely some very good food and good value for your buck. Definitely recommend.
