A super friendly young guy, Ethan, greeted us. I told him I was embarrassed to have brought a Peak Design camera strap and the Capture device with me, in hopes that someone could help me attach them to my camera and bag, respectively. He had the most fantastic response: "We love to do that! That's why we have felt work pads on this counter!" He gestured to a spacious work counter and, there, he helped me attach my strap to my camera and my Capture to my bag. It was wonderful. And I now know how to do these things myself, because he showed me what he was doing. We also learned that the shop will let you host a screening of your work (say, a film or photos) there after they close for the day. And they are constantly hosting free photography walks in the neighborhood and other cool events. There was another guy working there that day and he too was great--warm and welcoming. And the store is so well laid out and the product line is awesome. Everything is thoughtfully designed by industrial engineers who I think are also into photography. Cannot recommend this brand or this location enough.

It's very padded, has pockets and zippers in all the right places for how I want to use a travel backpack. It's also pretty big for a backpack... If you're looking for a travel or camera backpack it's an awesome one. If you are looking for an everyday carry, you might want to size down to the 30L version. Peak makes well researched, very practical products that are well constructed (like their famous travel cubes). Check them out if you want to up your travel game or if you just want to make your pack and carry life easier!

They have a lot of knowledge and actually take the time to explain things without making you feel rushed. They're also very understanding when it comes to working within a budget, which help me pick out my gear. When you do specialty retail, you should be able to answer basic product questions. When YOU make a mistake in labeling, you as the business should own up to it, and you take the hit and then go fix the label on the shelf so it doesn't help. The 3 star rating makes sense now.

He took a moment because he thought it was a little less online. When he asked "and that's the total with tax?". Normally you hear back a confirmation but instead she said no with tax it's $73.62. Mind you we were at the register to pay not for a price check. My husband was looking at his phone and she blurts out "you want it or not?". We told her yes but I had to explain to her he is just taking a moment to look up the price. Normally someone at the register gives the total price when purchasing not sub total. I walked away once my husband got the receipt and was already a good ways away from the register and she yells out "Good Bye!" In the most patronizing tone. It was the cherry on top for this review. We are all human and can do better but this right here is why online shopping and self check out is putting cashiers out of jobs. Maybe she should remember that the next time she wants to be unjustifiably rude and try to make people feel less than with "you want it or not?". At approximately $12-18 each the strap is far too short to wear comfortably as a crossbody, which means the blanket canteens were a total financial loss for me! Wanting to show my grandchildren how to go out and hike safely and carry what one needs to be safe or call for help, every other item has met our needs. Ask to open packages and see the product, they may have a display piece, don't get the blanket canteen thinking you can wear it across your body, it is a shoulder carry at best. At approximately $200 spent I am woefully disappointed BUT another lesson I was able to teach my grandchildren about policy signage, asking to touch and see merchandise ensuring items meets your needs prior to purchasing.

Super knowledgeable, helpful, surfs himself and understands the boards and gear that he sells. He might not tell you this, but he's a top notch shaper himself although he doesn't talk much about it. This is a local store that deserves support. They've got killer stock of epic surfboards and clothing. It's the kind of place you can go in, have a drink or a coffee, talk story and look at some clips and some of their old boards they have on the wall. Definitely deserves some hype and some credit -- they've been around for a long time and in this economy it's important to support these guys. I've bought many surfboards here over the years and will continue to do so. Ridershack and ET Surf are the two core shops in Los Angeles that I go to.
