I love Corner Brewery and the way they have adapted to Pandemic Purgatory. I automatically respect any restaurant that offers always-changing specials, and they are usually really good here. The soup is always on point too, seasoned well and warm satisfying! I ordered a lot of carry-out over the summer and had no problems, and I have felt good about their patio set-up. The hosts were polite but vigilant about masks and it only took 20 minutes to get a table outside on Friday night after they quoted us a 30 min wait. The kitchen does have a heavy hand with anything buffalo sauce or blue cheese, and frankly their pico de gallo is terrible, but easily avoided (but a seriously bizarre lack of seasoning and lime juice with way too much raw onions is a major mis-step). One of my favorite Ypsi spots and the cherry cider is the BEST! read more

Whether you're a fan of IPAs, wheat beers, pilsners, they got them all. They also are pretty inexpensive if you're going big. And we all know, you should go big or go home. $10 pint!?!?! Oh hell yes. While you chug and chug away you can enjoy the nice parameters of the place. Inside they have nice plus couches, a large bar, and plenty of seating. They even have board games to play. Overall, not bad. I'm not a beer fan, and probably ten years past their target audience, but we went here for a friend's birthday party. I had the Belgian (I think they called it blonde?) beer and it was fine, for beer ;) Hubby had the Alt. He didn't complain, but he didn't rave about it either. I think he got spoiled from all of his trips to Germany and may never find an Alt in the U.S. to measure up. I shared the hummus and bread and the chips, bean dip and salsa with a friend and they were both fine for soaking up some alcohol, but nothing to write home about. For the first couple of hours, my favorite part was the atmosphere. It's very casual and laid back. It was too cold to appreciate the outdoor seating, but that looked like it would be great in the summer. I'm not a huge beer drinker but this place is awesome! I recommend the honey lavender brew. It's super chill, they have a very friendly staff and great food! Just FYI everyone has to show their ID when you enter even if you are clearly over 21. Then they give you a stamp. So make sure you bring your ID. read more

Great establishment to support and they are trying so hard, but our takeout was not as grand as I had hoped. Recommend the Greek Salad highly and the Brussels sprouts appetizer had great flavor pop, but the curry tofu sandwich, chicken sandwich, burger and Mac and cheese all were mediocre. I went to the DIYpsi Indie Art Fair this weekend and it was hosted at ABC. Though I have been to their Ann Arbor location long before, this is my first time really eating at this restaurant. I ordered the Michigan Cherry Salad with chicken, made into a wrap (wrap is same cost as salad, plus chips!). It was delicious! I loved the addition of candied notes and the salad dressing was unique and refreshing. One of the tastiest wraps I've had in a long time. It was a busy fair day, but the food didn't take too long. I liked the combination of long tables and booths for seating. Seemed to be plenty of street parking. Overall delicious and I would love to come again to try all the things. read more

Amazing brewery!! I'm new to Michigan and Corner was the first place I went to when looking for a home. Corner was so good I choose a home within walking distance. Do not plan to eat amazing food, but what you are looking for food to eat when drinking. I even tried to work there, sadly they were not hiring. The owner tried though. I've had heart-to-hearts and mind-to-minds. I've sat at large tables and laughed. I've had always-mediocre food and I used to love the beer, that is, until they killed my Arborealis. Damn you, Corner!!!! /shakes fists. They do, however, have crazy mixes of their brews with crazy names. Those can be tasty, though I will not disclose said nomenclature here - ask and ye shall be told by the bartenders. I don't like this place without being there with an uber regular or a big crowd. Amazing IPA! FYI, Corner Brewery = Ann Arbor Brewing Company brews. You can get a gigantic beer for 8 bucks or less, depending on the brew. The venue is really trendy. They have a variety of board games available for you to play, as well as many different areas for seating (pub tables, booth, regular tables), and decent tunes playing. The crowd it draws is quite a variety. It is a chill scene. I'd highly recommend this place if you want to get some AA brews, but don't want to deal with the crowd and College scene at the downtown location. read more

I've been going to Corner Brewery for quite sometime now, and it's just the bees knees! They feature their own brews and always have several on tap. My all time favorite is the seasonal Espresso Love, but my stable is the Blonde - It's crisp, refreshing and pairs well with just about everything. I also dig the Rat Pads, which are specialty small batches and use the strangest of ingredients. I've had everything from a green tea ale to an oyster stout, and let's not forget the peppered-bacon beer I had a few weeks back. And even though I can't say I love each and every one of them, like the oyster stout, I find it important to at least sample each and every one I can get my hands on. As far as food at Corner Brewery goes, you have two options: You can order from the oh-so-tasty in-house kitchen which has some of the best nontraditional and never-fried pub fare around or you can order from anybody who will deliver. I've ordered in a few times, but I highly recommend the Surfer Dude pizza without onions and the nachos. If you spend as much time at Corner as I do, it's an absolute must to become a member of the mug club. You get your own mug, $1 off all beers, free admittance to all-you-can-drink and snack release parties and reciprocating perks at Arbor Brewing Company downtown Ann Arbor - all for $100 the first year and $75 every year after. A super cool brewery in Ypsilanti right off the main street and tucked away on a corner in the neighborhoods. Ample parking and ample seating inside! The beer selection is amazing and it's has my favorite method of ordering, which is going up to the bar and standing in the order here line. Super attentive and super efficient. You could also order food there and my friend and I split the nachos, which were large and plentiful. The ambience is chill with a mix of all sorts of people from locals, professionals and students. read more

We've been coming here for years from out of town. This trip the beer was served in old school beer mugs & beer was not cold & tasted flat & malty. Food was not good either... perhaps it's what we ordered. Margarita pizza had way too much sauce & balsamic drizzle. House salad was too heavy on a nasty mustard dressing. I couldn't eat it. A vinaigrette would be a much better option. Service sucked. Only thing enjoyable is their beer garden, although picnic tables are hardly comfortable to chill at. Also, since Covid is here why not prop open the door to the inside so people don't have to touch the door every time they want to order something. I've been to Corner Brewery countless times. Generally, I go in the early afternoon to avoid the obnoxious hipsters that generally start loitering after about 4pm. The staff are pretty friendly, the beer is good, the food is okay, and most of the games have all their pieces! So, why the low score? The prices are fcking ridiculous - 4 small beers and one appetizer costs damn near $50. And the food is not 1/2 as tasty as it looks, despite an epic kitchen upgrade. Something else to mention is the attitude of the owners. It's bad. They're pretty entitled, arrogant, and as one writer from the MetroTimes put it, "scummy." Google it, I'm sure you can find the articles. As much as I enjoy this place, the insane prices and their business practices keep me far, far away these days. read more

Giving three stars because the vegan burger was good and they have a variety of vegan options. The service I received is the reason why I probably won't come back. The hostess was either having a really bad day or just needs an attitude change. I've just come off of a weeklong bout of food poisoning and I'm afraid the culprit was this place. Immediately after eating one of the sliders, my stomach felt strange, and soon after that, BAM I'm in agony. I'll spare everyone the details, but needless to say, it's been gross. Stopped in here with some friends for a quick dinner and some drinks. Because they make the beer in house, it is exceptional. Super fresh and has a great flavor, plus the beer comes in huge sizes. I had the strawberry blonde, which has a unique taste. We ordered the carnitas fries, the three cheese bread, and the pretzels. All of which were delicious. My husband and I ate here with our kids while passing through Ypsi. The layout was confusing. We first parked at Corner Brewery than someone told us Arbor brewery was behind. It's a cool vibe that resembles a beer hall. We ordered at the bar and found a table right away. The beer was delicious. Our favorites were Bliss, kick out the Jam, buzz ipa, and cucumber gose. We were impressed with the variety of beer. The food and service system was not great. I got the special brat. It was supposed to be stuffed with Swiss. I didn't see any cheese at all. I barely tasted the caramelized onions and the kraut was sweet. The brat was one note. The house mustard was even sweet. The kraut needed to be tart and mustard grainy. The pretzel bun was good. My husband had the Cubano. He wished it could have better mustard too. The tortilla soup was pretty good. We also ordered the Parmesan truffle fries as well. I could not taste truffle at all and they weren't that crispy. The kids had grilled cheese and the pb&j. They said it was delicious, but it was a half of a sandwich. Our kids aren't big, but the portions were small. The waiting in line concept does not work at all! My daughter wanted malt vinegar and I wanted their house mustard. I had to wait in line with people who haven't ordered and needed pints. It would have been simpler to get what we needed quickly. After we were finished, I wanted to buy a pack of beer and close my tab. There was 4 people waiting. I saw the guy at the cash register and figured great, I can get beer and close my tab. He said oh I thought you were only closing your tab. Again I had to wait while 4 people ordered. The system does not work. There needs to be separate lines. As local brewpubs go, this one has some of the best beer and definitely the best atmosphere. I'm partial to the Espresso Love (made with coffee from Ypsi's own Ugly Mug!), though I don't think they have it on tap currently. If you're a half-hearted beer snob like me - you like when the flavor is full and interesting, but don't care to learn the terminology - you're sure to find something among the dozen or so choices that will suit you. Getting back to the atmosphere, it's such a pleasant place to hang out with friends! This is an old converted elementary school, half brewery, half sprawling bar. There are booths and long wooden tables, as well as some cozy, conversational areas with big old sofas and overstuffed chairs. The bar is lined with 15 or so sturdy wooden stools. There's also a large yard in the back with plenty of picnic tables and a portico filled with more sofas and chairs. No trouble finding a seat, even on a busy night! The CB is a great meeting place for community groups, families, any sort of crowd, really. Yet, I feel totally comfortable hanging alone with a good book. The food isn't worth bothering, except for the cookies (made at the Ypsi Co-op Bakery - the chocolate cookie is the perfect accompaniment to the Espresso Love!!). However, you are welcome to have an outside vendor deliver to you. Yes, you can order an Aubree's pizza at the CB. NO, unfortunately, you can't bring your own grub - that's a health code issue. I totally dig the Corner Brewery business model. The vibe is very relaxed and DIY - no table service and you are in charge of the food plan. Speaking of DIY culture, the CB hosts the semi-annual Shadow Art Fair! This is a super fun event that takes place in July and December. It's really a 3.5 star joint, but since everyone seems to love this place, I think 3 stars will suffice. The Alt 22 is a manly beer. Dark, handsome, smooth, like a dark coffee -- black. The Blonde Brasserie is a girly beer. Light, coy, a little sweet, and smells like roses. All other beers on the tasting menu were unremarkable. I had something so hoppy it was unpalatable (personal taste, I'm not a really hoppy kinda girl). IPA? Can't remember. The space is awesome. Almost intimidatingly big. But it helps to go to a quieter corner or away from smokers. It loses its intimacy with it being so big, but on the other hand you can create your own little corner with friends. The snack menu fell flat. The pretzels were not made in house and came with that neon orange nacho "cheese" sauce. The sandwich was OK and the potato salad was really too sweet. And all extremely expensive!! The snack menu in a way cheapened the beers being sold. They were not suitable accompanionments. Take it up a notch or go back to not selling anything. Pretty cool place. But I have to say, anyone who tells me to "be careful in Ypsilanti" again can suck it. Ypsi is like 100x nicer than 90% of the D. Really cute town. My first three star review. I couldn't think of any place more perfectly fitting for three stars. Corner is an oddity. When I like it, I love it. When I loathe it, I seethe. The Good: The grounds are awesome. The inside has tons of windows and retains its geek-friendly roots with several editions of trivial pursuit and a few other board games if that's your thing. The backyard keeps getting better. Sometimes, the service is great. Sit at the bar for the best service. Don't break the arcane rules. Sometimes, the food is great. The plain old hamburger, when cooked correctly, is amazing, It definitely tastes like good beef. Beers on a chalkboard brewed on premises used to be a unique thing, and Corner has been doing that for quite some time. Corner without the attitude is a pretty great place. The Bad: They ALWAYS want to stamp your hand (unless you're a regular). The food is hit and miss. It can be so-so when it's clear that the cooks are phoning it in. You're expected to tip, but no one serves you, runs your food or buses it. Lately, it seems like most of the beers on the board are high gravity. Sacred Cow is not an IPA I care for. Red Snapper just isn't what it used to be. I also miss the whole German beer thing they used to have going on (see the dimpled glasses for a telling artifact from the good old days). Where are the dart boards? The Ugly: Weird exclusive attitude. Sometimes the vibe is very uppity. I expect this sort of attitude in Ann Arbor more than Ypsi. The beer club costs like $300. Let's get serious for a second. That's ridiculous. The staff, again, can be very snooty over ridiculous rules (e.g. asking for water or expecting table service). Corner is the type of place where instead of explaining the rules to newcomers, they take pride in treating them like imbeciles. It's like an adult granola hipster's paradise. This seems to be getting better, but not enough. All in all, the wonderful grounds of Corner Brewery make it a pretty great place to hang out and a have a few, but you'd better have a thick skin or be a regular looking for a sniff of your own odor, metaphorically speaking. read more

I decided to hope on my bike and ride to the Corner Brewery (finally!) from my apartment in Ann Arbor. I mention this only because it highlights on of the biggest problems that the Corner Brewery has for me - its far away. But now that Leopold's is no more, the CB makes a case as a worthy successor. In fact, its superior in a lot of ways. Bigger, more couches, larger outdoor seating area, and most importantly, better beer. And it still maintains the fun laid back atmosphere that Leo's has - replete with board games to pass the time. So if you miss Leos and want to spend an afternoon out doors drinking fine, handcrafted beer, The Corner Brewery is your perfect panacea. Just give yourself plenty of time to get there if you're making the trek from Tree Town. read more

If you want to beg some one to sell you a beer, this is the place for you. Admittedly, I am not a big fan of the whole "no table service" thing but I understand that's how they operate here. Still these guys take it to extreme. We sat at the bar on a pretty slow day last year and the bartender didn't even attempt to serve us. We waited ten minutes and left. Apparently no table service means no bar service too. I don't feel like working that hard to buy a beer. I give the place three stars because their beer is pretty good. read more

The Corner Brewery--like Beezy's--is bringing Ypsi back. I'm not a beer person, but I have been known to relish a pint or two of Espresso Love. The vibe is cozy, homey, humble. The space is enormous, with plenty of booths and tables. Board games dot the landscape. Even if you find the parking lot completely full--don't leave! Trust me, there will be a place for you to sit and imbibe a few. I haven't partaken of the beer garden as of yet, but that's what future visits are for. There is no table-side service, you must stand in line to order. The line gets long, but always moves. So sit and keep your peepers open. The grub is fairly good and generous of portion. Check the board for daily specials (like homemade guac!). What's with all the Middle Earthy flagons hanging above the bar? Why, they have a special Mug Club. Hello dancing on the tables! Twice a year this place plays host to the most awesome of DIY fests: the Shadow Art Fair. All proceeds go to fund the local art community in all its brash glory. read more
