We came to Arbolado Park quite often when the kids were younger, not long after the park was formed. It has been years, but on a Sunday my wife and I happened by. We strolled through the park and were amazed at the upgrades the city has made! First off, it's way bigger: there's a huge new grassy area that was being used by adult soccer, and a satellite parking lot. A walking path weaves throughout the park, making for a nice stroll. Picnic tables abound, including many with deluxe sun canopies. There are two playgrounds, one brand new from when we were last there. Tennis courts as well. And, as before, it's an easy walk to connect with other trails. Kudos to Walnut Creek on the work done to make this park even better. read more

Nice family park. Walking distance from the Northgate area. Linked to the trail system. Clean restrooms. Lots of soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball hoops, play structure for the kiddos. I went on a Saturday in November and it was very busy. Filled with families having kids birthday parties at the built in picnic tables. They have a private parking lot with plenty of spaces for everyone. read more

I must say that I thoroughly enjoy Arbolado Park! It's probably one of my favorite parks in Walnut Creek aside from Heather Farms Park. It's located all the way up Treat blvd off of Arbolado drive. There always plenty of parking available, and if both parking lots are full, you can almost always find parking on the street which isn't too far away. This park has two play structures for the kids situated right next to each other with plenty of slides, monkey bars, swings, and other fun kiddie contraptions. There are picnic tables, shaded areas, barbecue pits and grassy sections all throughout. There's a huge field right next to the play structures where families can setup for picnics or barbecues. I saw a group of people setting up slip n' slide's and small pools for the kids today which I thought was really fun! I just recently discovered that this park has basketball courts, tennis courts, and a separate field for soccer and football. If you are coming down Arbolado drive from Treat blvd, you can access the sports sections by parking in the first parking lot and walking along the trail or parking in the second parking lot which is located right next to the second field. Here, you will also find restrooms and water fountains as well. Perhaps the most attractive part of this park in my opinion is that it can be accessed through the Ygnacio Canal Trail. I absolutely love walking this trail, and I have walked from its starting point in Concord down to this park many times. It's a great trail to walk your dogs on and then to relax at the park once you reach it. On weekends and Holidays, this park gets filled with people all day long. However, the people who frequent this trail are very pleasant, and the park is so large that you never feel like it's overly crowded. Arbolado park is an awesome park to explore if you are looking for a nice park in the Walnut Creek area! read more

Visiting for a soccer game and it happened to be picture day for one of the local leagues. Still managed to find a parking space though. Fields are in pretty good condition. Bathrooms were clean and they have plenty of water fountains including the kind with spouts for filling bottles. read more

This is my new favorite park to take the kids. It's not overcrowded like Heather Farms and it's just as exciting for the kids. There is a large grass area for running around with a metal fence so young kids don't go running off in the streets. It's a beautiful park. read more

It's tucked away in a nice neighborhood situated on a hill with a view of the hills in the distance. Parking is never an issue since there are two Parking areas. I like that there is two play areas but neither are covered so on a hot sunny day I would not come here unless you just plan on having a picnic then it be fine since there are shady areas. There's a basketball court and the trail is nearby. This is also a great meeting place for long runs. There are bathrooms located near the upper parking area. I wouldn't make this a go to park but if you're in the area it's definitely worth it to check it out. read more

Arbolado Park has been a favorite park of mine for years. I first discovered it with my best friend, Priscilla H., and we both love it. The park is clean and green, even during summer. They have two large fields to play in, as well as a jungle gym, basketball courts, and tennis courts. The park is located next to the Contra Costa Canal Trail, which connects with a big chunk of Contra Costa County. The bathrooms are clean, and appear to always be open, even at night. There are a lot of picnic tables throughout the park, so it's easy to find one to park and eat. Even though the park closes at dawn, we have had no problem staying later. An officer even approached us and informed us that as long as we're not causing a ruckus, they have no reason to make us leave. My one complaint would be that the basketball courts are not lit. I like to go and shoot hoops after work, and at that time of day I only have about an hour of light before I have to stop playing. This is a great family friendly park, in a great neighborhood. This will always be one of my favorite parks. read more

Love this park. They have a separate toddler playground, sand zone, and fun little climbers. Arbolado is a great place to spend the day picnicking. There are tennis courts, basketball courts and a giant soccer field. Beautiful 26-acre park set under the Diablo foothills. read more

Nice park with a huge field. Tennis and basket ball courts. The park is kept up and serves a good amount of family's including ours. There's two play area with fairly new playgrounds. Trees offer some shade and there's also a good size parking lot. It's on a main road that travels down hill so keep an eye out as there are some cars that speed down the hill. There are also lots of little league teams that play on the fields so, at Times, parking can be inconvenient. My only gripe about this park it that there could be more benches and shade. For the parks size you would think there would be a lot more bench options. If you're planning a party at this park i would get there super early cuz there is a big chance that you will not get a bench... But! If you bring your own there's plenty of room on the fields. read more

This is a review of the soccer fields at Arbolado Park which are not well maintained. The grass on the soccer pitch is uneven and inconsistent, there are large bare dirt dry spots and also areas of swampy mud, and there are dips and holes on the pitch. To play competitive level soccer on these fields subjects players to risk of ankle and knee injury and negatively impacts play during games due to the poor field conditions. On the bright side of things, the public bathrooms are clean and have soap in the soap dispensers. read more

I very distinctly remember my second visit to Arbolado Park. My first was more memorable as it involved a most excellent picnic with my soon to become best friend++. We posted up under the tree on the little hill to the right as you drive in to the upper parking lot. And as that was such a great time we decided to try it again the following week. Only instead of the area being basically empty, upon our return visit there was a local business man taking a ride on his secretary. Ahhh, I can see his head peering around her knee, her feet pointing skyward, and looking right at me with a bit of contempt before going back to finish his business. But I digress. If you find yourself at Arbolado Park you are probably lost. But don't fret. Take the time to enjoy what the city of Walnut Creek refers to as 26 acres of lush green parkland. There's a nice soccer field, some well-maintained tennis courts, a kids playground, picnic tables, a few trees that provide some much needed shade, a bunch of open space, and just enough privacy. read more
