I'm from Ukraine. Trust me, most of the grocery stores in Eastern Europe have the same vibe.

Well, here I am. I decided I wanna learn how to cook different kind of pancakes. And for that purpose I needed things like baking powder, baking soda, vanilla sugar and semolina. I created a list and went to Arbat Deli because I suspected they have all this things. And they did ! I've got everything I needed. Even more than that. Their staff assisted me in a very proper way and was willing to advise me. By the way they speak Russian which is a plus. Definitely, you can find things there you are not gonna be able to find anywhere else. Even though I might be not that familiar with the area around (concerning ingredients to cook food). Can be. By the way, you can order a delivery of some Eastern European traditional meals and they do catering for: weddings, birthdays or other special occasions.

Worse Russian deli, they are selling rotten food. Be careful buying prepared food with meat from this store.

This one is in a class of its own. It was the worst I have ever had. It looked like leftover ends. It no taste and chewy. It was small pieces. The bread tasted like it was stale. The crust was so hard. I ate two bites. Added mustard. And it was still not eatable. The coleslaw was dry coleslaw supposed to have some juice. This one did not. Now let me go onto the pickles. I love pickles. I eat pickles twice a week all over the country. in fact all over the world I've had pickles. These were the worst I've ever had. I don't know what has happened to Canter's but Canter's is no longer a good deli. I would avoid going there at all cost. The only good thing about it was the service. The tables and everything look rundown. Personally, I can't see it being around that much longer.

I personally prefer a lighter sauce, so we asked for light Russian dressing, which was perfect. The portion size is great and definitely easy to share. I also loved the side cucumber vinaigrette salad--it was fresh, light, and delicious. We tried the chicken schnitzel sandwich as well, which was crispy, flavorful, and very satisfying. The only downside is the parking situation. There are just a couple of spots, so you'll most likely need to find street parking. The inside is small, but they make up for it with plenty of outdoor seating. You order inside at the counter and they bring it out to you. Prices are fair for the quality and portion sizes. Honestly, you're getting something comparable (if not better) than Langer's, with a better location and vibe. Can't wait to come back!

Oh, it presents as a textbook Jewish deli of old, with traditional brown booths and paneled dividers, dark Formica tables, and a menu featuring the greatest hits of deli dining. But the food here is overpriced and underwhelming, like so many of the other delis around town these days. The staff is nice, for sure. They welcome you with smiles, seat you quickly, and immediately offer you drinks. Everything is clean and well-preserved, so you feel like you're in for a great meal. I ordered my usual: Pastrami on Rye, Russian Dressing on the side, with Potato Salad. To drink: Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray, the very best soda for cutting through the richness of deli meat. The sandwich came promptly, and looked quite nice. The portion was appropriate for a normal sandwich (as opposed to being ridiculously stuffed), and the pastrami was nicely marbled. But looks can be deceiving. The bread was a bit too dense -- possibly made that way, or possibly a touch stale. Either way, after 2 bites I abandoned the bread and just ate the meat. The pastrami, while juicy with a soft texture, lacked flavor. I believe they bring their meat in from a purveyor, and the lack of inspiration is evident. Potato salad was also generously portioned, but had far too much mustard, and the result is a side dish that feels more Southern Picnic than Lower East Side. Again, this is a Deli serving a so-so sandwich at a price nearly the same as Katz's in NYC, and it's a shame. It's just not worth it. I've come to find that the best pastrami in Los Angeles is being served at places Johnny's in West Adams or on special at BBQ places, and usually at 2/3's the price. When it comes to Nate & Al's, I wouldn't say never go, but I wouldn't expect much bang for your buck -- or in the case of the pastrami sandwich, your 27-bucks.

This cool dim lit, artsy food hub isn't just any burger joint and deli, with some of my favorite guilty pleasure plant-based options. It's a sports bar, a late night haunt, a fun meet up, a lunch spot, a old fav in a newer space that's thriving in all the best ways. The Impossible Double Smash here was almost exactly the way I get it at my go to locations in Encino and Glendale. The service is super solid. They have a few beers on tap, slushie/blended cocktails and a solid selection for standard well drinks. You can enjoy an assortment of non-alcoholic beverages via their Coca-Cola freestyle machine or those iconic Fat Shake's, including possibly one of the best dairy-free versions you'll ever have. Thoughtful fries, tots and sides and an extensive digital menu that's available right next to the register. During the day it's a little more restaurant bar in feels, and typically busy with a great patio space and doors that open up to give it an open air tricked out garage meets lounge vibe. Have passed by a few times, typically one my way to work, but had time to actually dine in and really enjoyed my food and the ambiance. Tons of flat screens with various ongoings, music on the intercom. Place is fairly clean with all black decor and walls graced with great art. Located by the corner of Lexington and Highland with street, meter or garage parking available. Gender-neutral restrooms Great place for groups.
