Megan - I hope I remembered her name correctly - at the Aqualani Beach & Ocean Recreation location beachside at Marriott's Maui Ocean Club in Lahaina was great. She was really cool and friendly. She gave us some helpful info and tips, including a small pamphlet, about Black Rock Beach: https://www.yelp.com/biz/black-rock-beach-lahaina. I also ended up renting some snorkel gear from her later for Black Rock. The snorkel set - mask, snorkel, and fins - cost a little under $30 for about 24 hours. I thought it was worth it. We saw a lot of beautiful, colorful, and interesting types of tropical fish, both off the coast in front of our resort (Marriott) and up at Black Rock. We saw lots of coral and swam with a green sea turtle too (that was the best part). The snorkel gear was high-quality. The goggles had been treated with an anti-fog / defog solution so they never fogged up. That was nice. Aqualani is a small chain with locations on Maui and Oahu (Waikiki). Most, if not all, of Aqualani's locations on Maui are at resorts and condos along Ka'anapali Beach on the west side of the island: https://www.yelp.com/biz/kaanapali-beach-lahaina. Along with the Marriott, they include the Sheraton, Westin, Honua, and Hyatt resorts. Since we were staying at the Marriott, I was able to have my rental charged to our room. In general, Aqualani is very useful and convenient to have around these beach resorts. In addition to offering snorkel gear and a knowledgeable staff, these stores sell and/or rent out various beach and pool items like sunscreen, sunglasses (Maui Jim), boogie boards, surfboards, pool floats, rafts, and kayaks. Some locations also offer umbrella, cabana, and gazebo rentals. Rentals are available by the hour, day, and/or week. I went to the concierge in our hotel. I felt the youngman was cocky and a know it all. Wasn't helpful and talked down about a whale watching tour I had a great experience with on an other trip here. Frightened my friend out of going. Didn't explain that there were lulu's Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's when I asked if we were to late to sign up that evening. As a result we were seated in the furthest table from the entertainment and couldn't see a thing. The food was amazing and it was nice to go to the activities before the meal. I was saddened that since we couldn't see anything my friend wanted to leave before it even got dark. I've been to a luau before so I was disappointed to leave. Asking me what could be improved, I'd say a youngman needs his ears lower and taught how to communicate with the clients in the hotel. Serve him some humble pie. He has lived here 8 years and is not an expert on Hawaiian culture. read more

I can only begin to describe how magical this morning on the ocean was for my husband and I !! We booked a private tour to explore the ocean on Aqua Treaders -- and then got in the water to snorkel with sea turtles. Joe was our guide, and took great care of us!! I can't say enough good things about booking this excursion in Maui!!! We only just got here, but I have a feeling this will be one of the best ocean adventures husband and I have done together!! read more

I was here for a work trip and had down time between meetings. Every single time I came by their station Jonell was there to greet me. Him and the crew by the pool at the Sheraton were so helpful, happy and accommodating. The only thing I'm going to say is that it's so hot and humid here and with their workplace being outdoors, why would you make them wear a mask? Spend 2 weeks in HK and the person that you have managing your pool was the worst ever, he was not helpful at all and very arrogant, the lady and the guy that were working in the stand were super helpful to us, kind and with a lot of common sense about the situation that we had, we were going to talk with front desk but prefer to contact you first but please check on your staff. read more

Class act for renting kayaks and paddleboards in the wailea area.we rented kayaks and paddleboards for two hours (70 dollars/2 hours) Located right on beach near grand wailea hotel, they have runners who take equipment out to ocean for you and bring it back in when you are done playing. The equipment is fairly new and in great condition. The wind picked up after our first hour out so we stopped for the day and they have us a voucher for another hour the next day. However, best experience , aside from being out on the water with the family was Tristan. He gave us great tips on what to do on the board since some of is has never used a paddleboard before. He is an excellent instructor and an all around excellent ambassador of the area. read more

Disappointed with the lack of help & immaturity I received from this place. I stayed at the Sheraton Maui. I was in the pool & noticed a young man was about to steal my bag. Thank god I saw & yelled at this man before he could take it. He ran but his friends were there, I go to the towel desk telling the worker (his name is Kai) to call security because of what just happened. The friends of the young man who tried to take my stuff told Kai not to call security because he already got away. they were laughing about the situation along with the worker!! I then asked Kai if he was gonnna do anything about it & his response was "oh we're already closed"????? It was 4:50 PM & I know for sure that towel desk was still open!!! I can't believe this property allows things like this to happen.. so disappointed read more

I took a kayak snorkeling tour with aqualani at the grand wailea resort. I had Dave Chappelle as my tour guide and he was amazing. So knowledgeable. Funny, very nice, I saw like 10 or 12 turtles easy. All different sizes. Lots of fish and coral. He knew all of them. He talked about the mountains around while we were kayaking. It was an amazing tour and so affordable! I would recommend this to anyone. Ask for Dave..... read more

I DON'T KNOW HOW TO SWIM!!! If this is going to be ur first time snorkeling & kayaking, this is the place to go. If ur experienced and have done this before, I recommend you to come here as well!! I want to thank Dave (Instructor) for his experience & knowledge, and really caring about our well-being in the water. Besides caring for us, he definitely has a love for the ocean & loves doing it!! He showed us plenty of sea urchins & turtles!! I will never forget this day!! I really have a fear towards the ocean & water! Long story short, I drowned as a kid approx 8 years of age, and I always stay around 4ft section in the pool area. By the way I'm 5'2... But Dave gave me such confidence and helped me along the way until I was ready to be on my own :) yes I said on my OWN!!! We used the Aqualani over at Kanapali beach on Maui for paddle boarding and had the greatest time. I have an artificial hip on one side and an artificial knee on the other side and have never been able to stand up on a paddle board before. Our instructor/slash guide Randy was the best ever and taught me very simple method of getting up, use the paddle in the center of the board in front of you as a 3rd leg to help steady the board while I'm gettin into the squatting position to stand up. It worked great and I really appreciated it, I've tried numerous times before without success, but Randy had me up and paddling away within 2 min's. Thanks so much Randy, your the best. read more

My wife and I stayed at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Resorts in Maui last week. Just wanting to lounge around without getting burned, we rented a gazebo through Aqualani Recreations located at poolside of the resort. The gazebo came with towel lined lounge chars (4 each) and offered food/beverage service. The attendants were prompt and very cordial. We also rented snorkeling gear as well. I found the equipment to be well cared for and functional. Our time in and out of the water were made that much more special with the amenities offered by Aqualani. My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton Resort in Kaanapali and I just wanted to say that one of the workers at the towel kiosk was very rude and other guests also agreed and had their own story to tell about their experience with him. I believe his name is Aaron. He is very sarcastic in a disrespectful way. He also advised us to snorkel on the back side of the black rock and so we did and it was horrible and dangerous. We stayed at the Grand Wailea and signed up for the 2 hour kayak and snorkel tour from 730-930am. Christopher, our guide, was fantastic. He was really knowledgeable about marine life and the reef, and was great with my kids, both of whom were first time snorkelers. A beautiful way to spend the morning. read more
