Went on the 5.5 hr Molokini and Turtle Town snorkel trip. From the minute of checking in until the time we left the dock at the end of the trip, everything was phenomenal. Crew was amazing. Purchased the pictures and videos taken while on the trip for $160. I accidentally left my sunglasses in the room and the Captain graciously let me borrow an extra pair he had. Not something he had to do. Everything from the breakfast pasties to lunch, and any questions about the snorkel adventure was perfection. This trip included me (mom), husband, 2 kids ages 14 & 7. Great tour and great staff! I thought they did a good job giving some history of Maui and the crater and directions for how to snorkel. They always had Eddie keeping an eye on everyone in the water and helping people that dropped things that sank to the bottom. Eddie made sure you didn't get too far away. I appreciated the free mineral based coral safe sunblock. The hour at the crater and turtle town went by so quickly. Definitely try to be the first one off the boat if you can to maximize your time. They provide wetsuits for rentals if you need it. They also have a lady that is an underwater photographer and she did a nice job of trying to get photos of everyone which I think is the most difficult job on the ship. I liked her photos but thought $45 for a single photo was a bit too steep. I appreciate the fruits and pastures from Whole Foods and the coffee and also the sandwiches and potato salad and juice for lunch. They were delicious. There is something about snorkeling that makes you hungrier than normal. I always felt safe on the boat. A couple of things to point out, the boat gets pretty full so if you want to a covered seat get there early and if you want to sit in the very front you will get wet from the waves coming through the netting. Also the parking there was much more than I thought and read. It was $18ish dollars for 5.5 hrs I was parked there. The parking on the parking only goes up to 3 hours so don't risk getting a ticket even that parking is like $1/hr. The only other thing g which is totally out of the control of Malolo is the amount of tour companies to contend with when you get to the crater. It felt too crowded and too many people there. At Turtle Town there were hardly any turtles on the day we went unfortunately. I had seen more turtles on our own at other beaches than at turtle town, but I did see a couple of turtles. In general, people aren't aware of snorkeling etiquette and oblivious to their surroundings. I had snorkelers cut me off, crash into me, and taking their sweet time getting on and off the boat with the single stairs. Overall a good trip if you want to get out to the crater, but as for turtles, go to a beach on west Maui and you won't really have any issues. read more

What an amazing experience! Me, my wife and new foster baby went on the adventure and it was so enjoyable. It was the little ones first time and our first time taking a little one on a trip. So thank you to the staff for being so patient and exceptionally helpful with caring for the child in and out of the water. We got to see so many kinds of fish while snorkeling and turtles at the second location! I hate getting into the ocean but it was well worth the trip and cost. We signed up for an afternoon 1pm-4pm Molokini tour. When we got to the harbor, we were told that we were not going to Molokini, instead we will be going to Coral Gardens. We were also told that most often the afternoon Molokini tour will switch to somewhere else. Ocean was fairly calm. Coral Gardens did not have much marine life. Snorkel ended early. The boat filled the extra time by going really slow and parking the boat - everyone could tell that they were just delaying the time to make it back to the harbor at the advertised time. If you are looking for aloha vibes, this is definitely not the place. read more

Unfortunately they left us at the dock! The boat would not wait after arriving at 6:32am I'm quite certain they sold our 5 seats and jetted accordingly to our island friends. The operator refused to rebook or offer any refund and called it a no show. We were there and watched the boat depart. Absolutely horrible experience. I understand when it's weather permitting. But what a waste it of money. Snorkeled for 30 minutes to see very little reefs and a few fish. I've had better experience snorkeling at my local pond back home. We were supposed to snorkel for 2 hours. But instead the crew went back to shore super slow to take up extra time as if everyone wants to seat in the boat and taking almost two hours of the trip. It would have been better to just get us back a couple hours earlier so we could move on. They had to feed us lunch at 10am not long after we were fed breakfast. Don't waste your money. Way over priced. Even if we were to have snorked for the full time in great weather. Find a local tour guide that takes to you places in Maui and you'll save money and have a better experience. Our family of four went on the Turtle Town Tour in July 2026. The staff was knowledgeable and professional, and they did a great job preparing us for our snorkeling experience. They prioritized our safety and gave great explanations. Our kids had the opportunity to use a GoPro underwater, and the photographer had wonderful photos for purchase. I am a frequent visitor to Maui and have participated in numerous snorkel and dinner cruises over the years--this was likely my eighth such excursion. This was, however, my first time booking with your company. From the outset, I found the captain's demeanor to be somewhat unwelcoming. While I understand the demands of managing guests throughout the day and believe he may be a kind individual, his approach did not create a particularly inviting atmosphere. That said, I would like to acknowledge that the rest of the crew was friendly and attentive. The excursion itself was enjoyable, and the food provided was of good quality and plentiful. However, I was extremely disappointed by an incident that occurred as we were departing the harbor. The onboard photographer changed into bikini bottoms in full view of passengers, including myself and my 15-year-old child. This exposed us to an inappropriate and uncomfortable situation that I found both unprofessional and unacceptable. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that appropriate measures are implemented to ensure a more professional and respectful environment for future guests. read more

This adventure was the highlight of our trip. The yacht was beautiful, the service was impeccable and the staff were just fantastic. I don't remember the last time we received such an incredible service where the staff had everything ready before we even knew we needed it. The dive was beautiful, the lifeguards were super knowledgeable and able to guide us with our snorkeling and the fishes. We saw the rare endangered monk seals and that was the highlight of our trip. Realized after the fact that there are many other reputable tours companies runs for Molokini Crater Snorkeling, for little cheaper pricing, DO NOT go with this company, we did and regretted!!!! There is no customer service, no emotions, no human touch - booked through Viator, 3rd party, must mention, they failed to resolve our issue and been very unhelpful. Have booked many excursions with Viator worldwide, never such a bad experience! We booked via Viator, lot of confusion on departure & check in timing -our family , who has very exited teen whose main purpose of visiting Maui was Snorkeling near Crater,on our scheduled day, tour left the harbor without us, which is mainly because very unhelpful tour representative at the Boss frogs shop, who apparently appeared to be covering an expericed employee, who was off that day due to fathers day !! We got there at the meeting point, Boss frogs shop, at 623AM, ( acknowledged we were late) the tour representative present at that time, calls himself " Noodle" ( when asking his name ) an arrogant and rude gentleman, wasted more than 12 minutes or so asking irrevelant questions, such as proving him the name of the boat, which information was non existent on our Viator booking. It was more of a feeling that he had no intentions of helping us, and by the time he figured which boat we were to take ( which was a clear example of his laziness and inability to do his job )it was 632 AM and then he said " Boat left", and it did cost us that disappointment, parking fees, and ruined early mornin and the rest of our day. Then he continued to be rude and arrogant, giving incorrect information to Viator, on call with Tess at reservations at Malolo & Viator, and wasted 2 hours of our vacation and Fathers day, and we have been given option to rebook with additional $$$ , which we didn't have choice but to accept. On our rescheduled day, tour itself was very basic. Captain didn't ever talked or kept us engaged , didn't feel engaged, John and Irene were helpful and must say contributed significantly towards having a hood Snorkeling experience. 10/10 to both of them. However tour was lacking energy, no entertainment while sailing, food no where nearer to what's advertised on their website, must say Snorkeling was excellent. We have done many Snorkeling tours in Carriebean and worldwide, and we Cleary could see this your was not worth the money, would advise pay little more and ho with other companies out there, staff, vessel, employee attitude, food, entertainment etc definitely not worth it. Boat appeared to be very basic and aged, single level ( at crater , noted many other tour companies had modern, newer boats with built in viewing decks) very crowded (66 people on board)and minimal facilities. Hope management review this and take actions as required for staff training and much more, so others won't go through what we did. read more

Captain Carlos and his crew are amazing! We have the best time snorkeling on the Malolo. On the way back to the harbor, we spotted whales and Captain Carlos took extra time taking us whale watching, explaining whales dating rituals and birthing cycle. We paid for a snorkel tour (4 tickets). There was no slip information on the confirmation. The man at boss frogs sent us to the wrong side of the harbor. The boat left without us and the tour operator was very condescending when we called to report the issue. She kept saying we were late, without listening to the misdirection of her operator. She also told me to file a claim with the booking company that went out of business (Hawaii tours), despite her company being paid for our tickets. Multiple parties experienced the same issue. Real shame we booked with this company and were unable to snorkel before our leave date. Reservation was booked months in advance. read more

We had a fun time on the Malolo snorkeling trip. Zach, one of the crew members, did an awesome job of keeping things light and fun, while also keeping everyone safe and taken care of. He was fantastic! We loved the visibility at the Molokini Crater. Even at a depth of 40 feet, the water was crystal clear! There were less fish there was I was hoping for, but it was still a great place to swim around and see some wildlife. We only got to spend 10-15 minutes at our second stop before the wind picked up and it was too choppy to continue safely. But most of us did get to see a turtle, so it was worthwhile. With the wind, the ride back was a little rough and wet, but sitting in the back helped and we had fun with it. It was a great trip overall! read more

Booked a party of 7 with Malolo Charters specifically because we did not want to be in a crowded double decker boat (which were cheaper per person). Once we arrived to the harbor we were told the Malolo would not be going out, we would ride the Quicksilver (double decker) boat. The agent (Noe - with Malolo charters) said we were the only party scheduled on the Malolo that is why they decided to move us onto the Quicksilver - with no prior notice. The worst part is that agent didn't even try to work with us about this inconvenience - no partial refund (again double decker charters are cheaper), no reschedule, nothing. Noe then tried to deny the reason initially shared of why the Malolo was not going out. Horrible experience. read more

My husband and I would like to give kudos to the amazing staff on board; all were very attentive, courteous and focused on passenger safety. The captain was very knowledgeable regarding whales and informed the passengers of many new and amazing facts. The only drawback to this tour was the group size. Rude staff. Showed up to check in and was told by Carlos that it's my fault somehow their system didn't reflect the infant that was in my party. I even showed them my ticket clearly stating 2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant. He told me I should have entered it. How am I able to show him a ticket showing the infant if I didn't enter it. I've done a snorkeling tour to Molokini before with another tour company, but Malolo did it a bit better all around. Checking was pretty quick, we were able to move around on the boat to sit in the front, in the back and on the webbing pretty much as we liked. The water was not completely calm in the crater which spooked my kids (9 and 11) a bit, but we lucked out with really calm water and lots of turtles at Turtle Town. There was more than plenty of food and drinks, and the staff were really friendly. read more

The malolo snorkel tour was great. Special thank you to Macy for her attentiveness and kindness during the tour. I boarded the boat around 7am and we promptly took off at 7:30am. We visited turtle cove and Molokai in about 5 hours. The company makes sure there are least two lifeguards in the water at all times. Lucky for us, the life guards also pointed out sea life, especially turtles. The team provided fun historical facts and made sure the guests were educated on the equipment and how to be respectful of the wildlife while snorkeling. Food was good. There was a simple breakfast served in the harbor with coffee that was surprisingly good. For lunch they offered salami, Turkey, or pulled pork sandwiches with sides of potato salad, green beans, and chips. Last, but not least, the Mai tai they serve is tasty! The trip was well worth the price and made lasting memories for my entire family. We did the short afternoon excursion to Molokini for snorkeling and on our return saw multiple whales as a bonus! The captain and crew prioritized our safety and were attentive the entire trip. From initial booking to return all went smoothly. The crew was friendly and kept my family engaged throughout the trip. Most importantly they assisted us throughout the process and kept a watchful eye on all the children and adults. We saw tons of exotic fish and were had a fantastic times. I've snorkeled most of the northwest bays from Kapalua down to Lahaina and I can honestly say that this was worth the money and time to take the excursion. More importantly my young kids had an amazing experience and saw tons of fish and sea creatures. We live here on the Island and have done multiple charters. We felt the captain was not very friendly and spoke to close to mic so we couldn't hear anything he said. We could hear everyone else using mic The rest of the staff was friendly and kind. I ordered a gluten free lunch and double checked 2 times before our trip but they had no gluten free sandwiches. After snorkeling you tend to be pretty hungry. I have no issues with bringing my own but since it's suppose to be included and I checked I did not bring anything to eat. A bit disappointing. Staff arrived almost at 1pm to check people in, once on board, spent more time on the boat looking for a place to snorkel. When we finally were able to, it was only for about an hour and went back. Food was as expected. Microwaved Hot dogs, chips and soda. Booked an afternoon snorkel tour to Molokini. Showed up 1/2 hour prior to scheduled departure as advised. No one around to check people in until 1/2 hour after departure, when they finally told us they had a problem with the boat that they needed to fix. Didn't tell us what was wrong but we later found out they could not get one of the engines to start. Finally left the dock 1 1/4 hrs after scheduled time. Then once we were on board, we found out we were not going to Molokini because they said the winds were too strong. Once we were on board it was too late to back out. So we went to a cove about two miles from the harbor that we probably could have accessed from the highway without paying for a boat ride. So we got one hour of snorkeling before they called us back to the boat. The whole time on the boat they were trying to sell us pictures at $45 a pop (NO THANKS!). As we were returning and approaching the harbor, captain Carlos (truly a Hawaiin name) kept haranguing us about tipping and telling us how much we were expected to tip (as though the boat ride was not expensive enough). They passed out little billfold things that you get your bill in at a restaurant, expecting us to put cash or a credit card in there for their tip. Cheap ass hot dogs and bags of chips were served on the way in (whoopee). My advice: CHOOSE A DIFFERENT COMPANY TO GO WITH. ps: These guys did not even mention Maui's sunscreen law which bans all sunscreens that are not mineral based. You would think that a snorkel tour boat whose livelihood depends on the health of the Ocean would at least give it a mention. I have been on other boats that actually provide the sunscreen to ensure everyone is wearing the right stuff. Not these guys, they could care less about the ocean, they just want your money. read more
