Kat was great!! I have never been Scuba diving before and I went yesterday with Aqua Zone. I went with my coworker who talked me into it, and i was rather unsure of the whole idea. Kat was so patient and also very attentive to me because i was a little panicky about it. I ended up doing the 2 tank dive and completely pulled it off!!! We saw several turtles, a small white tip, and lots of fish. It was really cool and i recommend this for anyone who was as unsure as I was to go try their free pool class with the equipment to get comfortable. I am middle aged and not a real "water" person but I am sooo glad I did it! Thanks Kat - you really made this dive successful for me. read more

Christina was AWESOME! Went SCUBA diving in the morning and snorkeling with the turtles in the afternoon since the wife won't SCUBA. Christina was patient, knowledgeable and extremely patient. This was my first time in Hawaii and first time diving after a long hiatus from the sport. She did a great job briefing us on what was expected and how to stay safe. I was able to do my first wreck dive and then a more shallow reef dive afterwards. Got some amazing photos and GoPro video. Highly recommend this place if you are diving in Hawaii. read more

First off, the prices on their website are misleading at best. For their certified diver morning wreck/reef dive, it states: "Divers Needing Equipment - $129 Includes: all equipment - BCD, regulator, computer, full 3mm wetsuit, fins, weight, refreshments & guide" But once you go to book it, they nickel and dime you for the equipment: $7 for BCD, $7 for regulator, $7 for mask/snorkel/fins, $7 for wetsuit. For me, it ended up to $150 plus tax. Classic bait-and-switch. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the quality of the dive staff. I received an email confirmation reminding me of my dive the following morning but given that many retail establishments were closed that day due to nearby tropical storm Iselle, I figured I'd give them a call anyway. And yes, upon calling, they told me that the dive was indeed cancelled. I sarcastically said "thanks for letting me know". Even the restaurant I'd reserved that night called to tell me that they were closing... Would have really sucked to have arrived at the boat at 6:45am and not find anyone there. As a bonus, they charged my credit card and I had to contact them to reverse the charge as they had "overlooked the refund part" when they cancelled my dive. Next time I'm in Honolulu, I'll be looking for another dive company. read more

So...I like this group. But I think they need to up their game. First...if you say Pupus then have Pupus, not vending machine crap. And, be a little more inquisitive to your customers. Ask about where they are from, what they do...what do they like diving wise? I mean a catamaran is an awesome opportunity but open the options up. Have spare crap. And seriously...charging for little minor stuff seems a bit nickel and diming! Other than that, location good. Dive is great for vacationers but if you live here you will be sort of bored. Though I feel all dives that end safely are good I feel this left me with too much air for my cost. read more

We stopped by Aqua Zone to pick up our own snorkle gear instead of renting. My boy was a little nervous about trying it for the first time, so we wanted to get really good gear to make sure he was comfortable. LAUREN was extremely helpful. She did the obvious upsell, but wasn't pushy at all. In fact, she was extremely patient while we tried nearly every mask in the store. She even suggested a great spot for first time snorkelers. Because of Lauren, we had a great time and now we can hit North Shore together! #mahalo read more

We were told to show up at the docks for our 11am snorkel at least 15 minutes early and we did. After waiting until 11:25, myself and the other person waiting were about to call it quits when the boat and van -- with 9 other snorkelers -- rolled in. The girl in the van started applauding the boat crew on arriving early for once, which surprised me because they were almost 30 minutes late based on the 11am start time I was told. The staff completely ignored the two of us and we did not know what to do so went over to the boat to figure it out. They told us to 'chill out' while they unloaded the scuba tanks. We finally boarded when we saw everyone else boarding, no one ever indicated to us to board or what was going on. They never said Hi, told us the plan, thanked us for our business, anything. The boat pulled away about 11:50, over 1 hour after we were told to arrive. Once on the boat, I felt that us snorkelers were treated as second rate citizens versus the scuba divers. A couple of the scuba captains went out of their way to make us feel at home but overall the staff just talked amongst themselves and to the scuba divers. I have never been ignored like that or experienced such self-centered staff. They completely took our business for granted. When we got to the dive location, we saw one turtle as soon as we got in the water and zero over the next hour, despite the staff really hyping up how many turtles we would get to see. Since we left one hour late, we got back 1 hour late. This was disappointing for my last day of vacation in Hawaii but I was happy I did not book any other activities that day or I would have had to either bail on those activities or the snorkel trip. Overall, I felt like I got no experience or service for my money. I cannot imagine how the families of 4 that probably paid about $200 for the snorkeling experience felt. I also found it strange that because they switched vans they ended up short space to transfer the 9 others back to their hotel so one couple said they would take a cab. The crew just said okay, no offer to come back and pick them up and no apologies for their oversight. The other girl and I were neither offered pick up or drop off service. The only positive comment I had was that they had good flippers, masks and snorkels and offered those uncomfortable with swimming in the ocean a life jacket. Based on my observances, I can see how the good ratings on Yelp from the people that did scuba diving are probably warranted but I would strongly caution anyone against snorkeling with this company. read more

Great customer service!! I purchased a Living Social deal and booked a snorkel trip for our second day in Oahu. Unfortunately due to a rescheduled flight we did not make our reservation and could not give the required 24 hour cancellation notice. I called the company and left a message, then called again when we arrived in Oahu. The woman I spoke to was very understanding and allowed us to join another trip later in the week at no additional cost. We had a great time snorkeling and saw turtles, dolphins, and fish. They have a great crew that make sure you have a good time in the water. Amazing experience! read more

We had a fun day scuba diving with Aqua Zone. We were staying at the Marriott so just walked down, jumped in the van to take us to our vessel. Then off we went. They're all about safety. It's been a couple years since my last dive, and they worked with me well. many safety checks. Wanted to make sure we were all having a nice time. We saw lots of turtles, and fish. All was good. My husband and I recently returned from Hawaii, and unfortunately the only bad part of our trip was the experience we had with Aqua Zone. Tour was originally scheduled for a Wednesday, and we received a nice call from Aqua Zone stating the waters were too choppy and asked if we could reschedule to Friday. No big deal, right? We were absolutely okay with that. Unfortunately on Friday, we were not okay with the treatment we received. First of all, on the TravelZoo voucher we purchased, it states "The Aukai catamaran leaves at 11 a.m., and check-in time is NO LATER THAN 10:45 a.m." We promptly arrived at 10:45 a.m. thinking the boat would leave without us. There is absolutely no signage stating where the catamaran docks. We drove around the entire port several times trying to find it. There are a ton of boats, which makes the catamaran impossible to find. There was absolutely no one from Aqua Zone there. We had to ask another boat's tour guide if they had heard of them. We were among at least 5 other couples standing at the port for over an hour. We watched several other tours come and go. We had tried to contact Aqua Zone several times to find out if we missed the boat, and they wouldn't answer the phone. Finally around 11:45 a.m., a passenger van arrives with the tour guide and other passengers. We asked him when the boat would arrive, and he stated he didn't have any clue. He was extremely unprofessional and acted like a teenager - acted like it was no big deal that the boat wasn't there yet. When the boat FINALLY arrived at 12:15PM!!, we realized there was no way for us to participate in the three-hour snorkeling trip in time to catch our flights going home. When my husband told the tour guide we could no longer go on the trip, his response was (and I quote) "It sucks to wait doesn't. it?" To top it off, when he looked at his list to cross off our names, we weren't even on the list!! We were never tranferred over to the Friday tour. I can only assume we would be "extras" on an already cramped boat with no snorkeling gear to use once we got out in the water. read more

My husband and I have been diving all over the world, but never in the US. We decided to dive while in Oahu with Aqua Zone. Their staff were very helpful and kind, and their prices were reasonable. We had two decent dives, but you cannot blame lack of visibility on he dive outfit. We got to see not one, but two octapus. Very cool! read more

I had a very good experience at Aqua Zone recently. I had done my classroom and pool training elsewhere and completed my PADI open water certification in 2 days with Aqua Zone, 2 dives per day. None of the other divers were getting certified, so I was able to get very personalized attention while completing my skills training. My instructor had a great attitude and was full of encouragement- I never felt stressed or rushed. I stayed walking distance from their shop, but they will pick you up if you're not as close. The dive locations were full of turtles and beautiful tropical fish. Our instructor went out of her way to point out some of the more unique and harder to spot marine life, which just added to the whole experience. They also take photos for an additional fee. I highly recommend Aqua Zone. Friendly, professional staff and reasonable prices. If I'm in Honolulu again, I will definitely go on another dive trip with them. read more

We signed up for the Snorkeling and Scuba diving trip with AquaZone at the Marriott Waikiki. On the day, we left promptly at 10 AM. Joe, the scuba diving instructor provided us a prior 2 hour diving lesson at the hotel's pool, he also drove us to the site. On the boat, in addition to us there were 2 other divers and 3 snorkelers so it felt like a semi private trip. Ms. Liz - the snorkel instructor was very friendly and made our 6 yr old feel comfortable even before getting in the water (showed us a book with all the fishes we would be seeing in the ocean.) In the water, Liz was solely focused on my kid, holding her close, encouraging her, cajoling her, making her comfortable - Liz was awesome. We got to see some beautiful sea turtles come up right next to us. On the boat, Captain Winter let our kids man the boat for a bit, which was very cool! The scuba diving was also good - got to see turtles, reef shark, eel, sea urchins, all sorts of fishes. All in all - wonderful crew and a trip worth remembering. Btw, they were also ~30% cheaper than the one offered by Expedia at the hotel (although that was going to a different part of the island which supposedly had more Dolphin sightings). Our family of five finished our certification with four excellent own water dives. The boat crew were most helpful and Kat was a delight! A pool review was provided, which was very helpful. The staff made sure we were well equipped. In addition to completing our certification, we saw many turtles, beautiful fish and coral, and a small shark. After having been open water certified for over 15 years, I decided to get my advanced open water cert. Aqua Zone made is really easy to book the dives and the lessons, and within 15 minutes of walking in, I had 6 dives over two days booked. Christina was my guide and instructor, and she was knowledgeable, patient, as well as a great underwater photographer. She was also assisted by Sophie, who was really nice and helpful. I mainly go to the store on Kaneohe Bay, and Jenn, Alexis, and Rachel are awesome. They are always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. If they don't have something you want...they will get it! On the boat Capt Randy is the man. He knows the dive sites like the back of his hand, and he is always loaded up and ready to dive when I get there. He makes the trip fun and safe. The dive guides/instructors I have worked with have to be the best in the business. Christina, Ariel, and Bree are amazing. I did a snorkel trip, open water cert, Veterans Day dive, and now my advanced open water and I can't say enough good things about them all. My husband and I did the Sea Turtle Scuba Adventure Dive with Aqua Zone. Our dive guide and photographer was Christina. There was only one other person in our group so 4 divers total which made it a very intimate and relaxing experience. Both dives were great and we have never seen so many turtles (old and young) in a single dive. What made this dive perfect were the awesome pictures that Christina made of us during both dives, a great memory! To top it all off, we got to see multiple whales from our boat some very close to us! Pick up and drop off from hotel was included, great service and very friendly people! We had a great time snorkeling at Waikiki Turtle channel with Devon and his crew. He was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. This was my 14-year-old daughter's first boat snorkeling offshore, but Devon family also joined us and brought along a large floater raft with some pizza and refreshment. Having her aged teens on the boat really help her to be confident to snorkel. Our trip had a couple of scuba diver's getting their certification and another couple snorkeling just like us. Once we got into the water it was easy to spot the turtles in the channel. We had plenty of time to snorkel and take photos. Great Captian and crew, enjoyable trip. I signed up for the dives through the shop on the Marine Corps base. I believe both of these shops are affiliated with each other. I will NEVER....NEVER....NEVER use any other diving outfit except Aqua Zone. Jen Sparacio deserves major kudos for everything she does! Jen made sure everyone on the dives had all of the correct gear, ensured we were all briefed properly, and always gave advice concerning bouyancy, air consumption, and general diving. We had two young divers on the boat with us and Jen made sure they felt at ease and supported them 100%. She rocks and so does Aqua Zone! Do not look at any other dive shops! read more

Two days of awesome wreck diving with Aqua Zone! On the first day, we went out to Sea Tiger and Horseshoe. Although Sea Tiger is generally a busier site, the crew made sure we got there before any other groups so we could enjoy the wreck ourselves. On the second day, we went to YO-257 and San Pedro, where we had the whole site to ourselves during the entire dive. We saw lots of white tip sharks, sea turtles, eagle rays, and eels. The guides/instructors were always perceptive and ready to assist anyone in need. Special shout out to Captain Jonathan, who was extra attentive and went above and beyond his duties as the captain. I would recommend Aqua Zone to anyone:) I visited Honolulu to get my Advanced Open Water Diver Certification,and after an extensive research, I picked Aqua Zone as my dive shop. I had a great experience with them, everybody was very nice and friendly,their equipment is good shape, they have two boats,and most of the Dive Masters and Instructors were girls! It's been years since I've been with my parents in Hawaii so my dad wanted to rent a boat for our family and friends to spend an afternoon snorkeling. Devon greeted us in the parking lot and we met Alexis on the boat - both were so chill and open and friendly. We had originally estimated 20 people, but half our group couldn't make it, so the 9 of us set out with Devon & Alexis and the personal attention was awesome. Devon explained all of the particulars and helped us get into our snorkeling gear, and Alexis met us in the water to handhold my mom's and aunt's first time snorkeling (neither know how to swim). Both women had a wonderful time, despite not even having bathing suits because they were so sure they couldn't get in the water. Devon & Alexis made sure they were comfortable every step of the way. On top of that, this trip to Honolulu was just a stopover to see family after my husband and I had spent a week in Maui for our honeymoon. We had tried to go scuba diving in Maui but through a series of unfortunate events, two different scuba companies cancelled on us last minute and the third was just way too expensive. When we told Devon this, he immediately replied that he would check the conditions for us and take us down if he could. Totally unscheduled and unexpected! My husband has never dived before, but he's in love with bodies of water, so I had really hoped to be able to take him while we were in Hawaii and it was my single regret from our honeymoon that we couldn't make it happen. And just like that Devon was able to grant our wish and take us down on a super personalized dive... dream come true. After Devon conducted the intro dive portion for my husband (and found an octopus for us to look at!), he went up and switched out with Alexis because she's the photographer of the two. We found a huge sea turtle (well huge to me) and she took great photos of us chilling in the background behind Mr. Turtle. Within 36 hours after the excursion, Alexis had edited all the photos from above and below the water to email to me for a ridiculously reasonable fee. Amazing amazing experience and would do it over and over again! The team here is awesome and we all had a great time. Christina was our scuba instructor who was freakin amazing-it's definitely her calling because she led the group gracefully and flawlessly. They prep us really well with prior instructions in the pool, so I felt ready and confident to dive in the ocean when it was time. We saw amazing marine life such as a white tip shark and many turtles, which was my favorite! We saw about 7 of them; it was incredible and I can't stop thinking about it. This was my first time being out in the open water with nothing but a snorkel and fins plus a boogie board and life vest... lol But it really was an amazing experiance. Except I freaked out but after that I was totally fine ( after I got the boogies board and puffed up life vest) I got back in the water and swimmed around for a bit. And than I got sick. I had a wonderful experience with this shop. Jason was the dive master and was awesome! He gave a safety talk at the beginning and went over all the hand signals and equipment. You hold onto a line for the dives, so it's great for beginner/shaky divers. We dove the Corsair and the Koko Craters, both awesome! At the craters we saw several green sea turtles, Jason was able to get a few pictures with me and the turtle! I highly recommend these guys! read more

She was safe and a good instructor and basically captured the spirit of a local Hawaiian or what I would think one should be bc this is my first time here. We saw a lot of things. We got the two tank dive and it was totally worth it. I highly recommend it. Also the photos were only 35 dollars, not 115 dollars like the skydiving place charged, so definately worth it. read more

A great place to rent/buy snorkeling equipment in Waikiki Beach and offers scuba dive tours. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's located on first level of retail shops within Marriott Hotel courtyard across from the beach. We rented the Deluxe Snorkel package for 2 days as I accidentally left my snorkeling equipment for Haunama Bay back at home. Their equipment worked well and was comfortable. It's very convenient if you're headed to Haunama Bay as the bus stop is half block south across from Starbucks at the surfer statue. read more

This was my wife and I first time on Oahu and snorkeling in a long time. This tour was nice, the staff was friendly and the equipment was great. Duration was good as we could spend a good amount of time in the water and we got to hit 2 different spots. At the first spot, we got to see quite a few turtles, but the water was not crystal clear so unless you dove down, it was a little harder to see them. I dove down in order to get closer, this was fun. A lot of other fishes too. The second spot was not very good that day, no turtles and it took me quite a bit of exploring and diving down to find some nice fishes. Apparently there were too many boats at the place that would have been a bit nicer. It was very cloudy the day of our tour, so that might be why the water was not too clear, but I'm also thinking that this might not be the best spot for snorkeling. Regardless, I love swimming so I was happy. Next time I'll try another location though. Also, they had a groupon at this time, which offered a nice discount. read more
