The service was very moving, with a three-volley salute, which is a military honor for those who served. There was also a covered space so guests did not have to stand under the sun. This is a very big cemetery, but once you drive up to the entrance kiosk, you can ask to find a burial space. The grounds are very open and small roads in between to drive through. Parking can be very limited during national holidays and large funeral events. There was almost no parking during Memorial Day when visited earlier this year. And you can't really park outside the cemetery because it's just a large road, with multi-lane traffic. So for non-event days, parking will be easy, but for major events, this is a very busy place.

This is something families should be told while making funeral arrangements, not left for them to discover later. If it's stated somewhere in the paperwork, that's not something most people are focused on when they're grieving. It's not right that everything was thrown away without any warning. We later found out that decorations are only allowed during certain holidays, but we didn't know that until we called to ask why everything was gone. We spent thousands of dollars on his funeral because we wanted to honor him and give him a beautiful place to visit and the least they can do is communicate and give a warning so we would be aware. It was heartbreaking to find out that everything had been discarded, including gifts left by his children. A simple conversation or even a courtesy warning before removing everything would have meant so much to our family.

What a year we'd already had and then losing him just after Christmas was just the worst year end event for the family. My wife and mother in law found Acheson & Graham. They made it very easy. I worked with the staff the day of the service to set up the outdoor service (COVID restrictions were adhered to). They were very helpful and accommodating trying to make the service as perfect as possible for my mother in law and wife. They were able to have an outdoor canopy since we had rain today. They had power a few hundred feet from the main facility so we were able to play music and a slide show in the tent. They helped with the setup/decorating and the tear down; even hauling our personal items to the truck with me to speed up the cleanup process in the rain. Also, I compared the cost with other mortuaries and this was way more affordable!! Brandon helped me from beginning to end and was very patient with all my questions. He sent photos to me of caskets in the color I wanted for her. He even texted which was convenient since I work full time and can't always take a call. When we changed our mind to cremating he helped us and sent us a catalog to review and continued answering our questions. He made sure we didn't miss anything and helped guide us during the difficult time. The staff there were so professional and kind. The mortuary was well maintained and I love that it's historic. They took care of everything, contacted the coroner, arranged for the cremation, gave us info on an urn, if we wanted to purchase one, and contacted us when it was time to pick up his ashes. When we went to pick up his ashes, we were led into a beautiful little office, there on a table surrounded with candles was the box that contains his ashes. It was very dignified, very respectful. I was so amazed, I felt comforted, almost like I was at church, lol. The people who work there are great. They helped ease a very unfortunate situation.
