I chose this restaurant based on the menu which had some very interesting offerings. Unfortunately, the atmosphere leaves much to be desired. It is more of a happy hour watering hole then a place for fine dining. The service was pretty good until a party of 6 were seated and then they received all of the attention and we barely saw our waitress after that. The one saving grace was the food. I had the Calamari and then the Salmon, both of which were excellently prepared. I should have tipped the chef instead of the waitress. Go only if you sit outside or want to drink. read more

Called ahead for a reservation and asked about happy hour. Was told it was first come, first served. Went early to get a table in the bar and lounge where they said on the phone happy hour took place. Once inside we realized there are NO tables for Happy Hour, only places at the bar which of course was full. There wasn't a single person sitting at their outside tables and maybe a couple inside. Unfortunately we decided to stay and sit right outside the door/bar. You're 10 feet from the bar but not eligible for the discounted pricing. SO, we ordered off the ridiculously overpriced menu. It's ridiculous all up and down 5th Avenue but at least at other places the food is good. The food SUCKED. 3 of the four of us were sick for 2 days! I had a small scoop of shrimp salad with some arugula and it was $20! My husband's vodka/tonic was $16 and some clam linguini which made him sick as a dog was $35. Actual price of this meal should have been around $5-$10. TOTAL. There's a reason we sold our winter place here and can't wait to get out!! Naples has a Black Plague of a restaurant on 5th and it's called Aqua!!!! Literally, you are better off going to any other restaurant. Not worth it even if they do half off! Stay away. Rude staff and poor food is just the start. They add miscellaneous items to bill with the hope one doesn't realize. The call liquor is more than likely rebottled well booze!!!! Went to Aqua for drinks and dancing. Waitress clearing a table spilled dish with oil on my jacket. She walked away without cleaning up the spill. We requested the manager several times to come over. After about 30 minutes the manager comes over. We explain the situation and she just goes to find the server. She returns with the server and tells me the server is responsible for cleaning the jacket. The server offers to Venmo me for cleaning. I asked the manager again...are you going to make her pay? She replied yes, I didn't do it she did. There was no apology, no offer for a drink...just this server looking pathetic and sad in front of this horrible manager. My crabcake could've been cooked a little bit more so it wasn't so soggy, fries were OK, my friend's chicken sandwich with fruit was ok. However, our bill did not reflect the prices on the menu, it was 2 to 3 dollars higher per item. And the Aperol splitzers were a whopping $18 each. I've lived in Naples 30+ years and I'm used to high price drinks, but these were ridiculous. I've been here for happy hour, and was quite pleased... Not so much for lunch though. I have eaten at Aqua at least a dozen times and always had great experiences. But we decided to try the bar for their amazing Happy Hour. We sat at the bar and unfortunately we didn't have a great experience, in fact we had one app, one drink and left. I was a bartender for 15 years. I get it, it's demanding and people can be tough but the rude bartender at Aqua, the dark haired male with the tattoos, was beyond rude (to everyone) . I had to ask for a lime for my margarita, not a big deal, but the attitude radiating out of this guy was so unpleasant we just decided to leave. How someone like this still has a job is beyond me. If you don't like people, please don't bartend! He's just not a nice guy. Made us feel immediately like we were putting him out. I would go back and sit outside or In their lovely dining room, but if we see this guy at the bar, I'll never sit there again. read more

I was dying for some oysters and crab while I was visiting home. I live in Denver right now so crab, quite frankly, isn't the best here. I originally stopped by The Boathouse because I was staying overnight at Cove Inn, but they had no hostess and left me waiting up front for ten minutes with no staff. I don't know what was going on there, they were great 20 years ago but things change. Now, I've never been to Aqua, but drive by here all the time because I have family that lives in Port Royal. I was just walking around 5th to see if I could find some good seafood, but I was flying solo because I had a day alone during my two weeks in southwest florida. I saw Aqua had a nice size bar so I stopped in for a drink and the sweetest bartender asked if I'd like to see a menu. Sure, not thinking I'd eat there. Boy am I glad I did! Their oysters and crab were DELICIOUS, folks! Not only was the food good, but the two bartenders that waiting on me were so lovely! We chatted about Denver since one of them lived there for awhile and gushed about how we all love Naples so much. It was a delightful experience all around and I'm so happy I stopped in. Nothing special, though based on the higher rating from other Yelpers, there are certainly those who disagree with me. I stopped by on a Saturday night and sat at the bar for a cocktail. The drink was pricey, but fine, and the service was indifferent. I ordered the sesame crusted ahi tuna, which was served with vegetable risotto, seaweed salad, and a cucumber vegetable slaw ($29). The presentation of the dish was beautiful, but honestly the dish was just meh. It didn't have much flavor or interest, and I really cannot identify why. Every time I have ordered ahi in other nice restaurants, it is an exquisite and memorable treat. This time, I felt like I should have just ordered a burger. The other "meh" reaction I had relates to the atmosphere of the place. The bar is made of teak and hints at a nautical theme. But the walls are aqua and the white aluminum-framed glass doors at the front of the space opening onto the sidewalk somehow must make it feel like a cheap bar on Daytona Beach. Yes, the restaurant is named Aqua, but must every wall be painted aqua? It really is overwhelming and hideous. The piano guy had a large video screen on the wall behind him that was flashing and advertising his business, and it just tacky. When he started playing, I felt like I was in a cruise ship lounge. The place had an older crowd, and there were certainly plenty of people at the bar and in the restaurant, so I guess there are those who like the place, and of course there are people who like cruise ship lounges. I ordered a hurricane and when the server brought it, he said "the bartender didn't know how to make it, so he did his best". The drink was full of simple syrup and not even close to a hurricane. Instead, I ordered a pomegranate martini which was actually a cosmo. The hostess came by and she brought me a pomegranate martini. This is a fantastic spot in Naples!!! First of all, I must say the setting is absolutely beautiful!! You really can't beat a beautiful night on 5th Avenue in Naples!!! There is a wide variety of food on the menu for everyone in your party-- even the vegetarians!!! There are steaks, chicken and different types of fish. There's also pasta and salads. I had tuna on seaweed with a vinaigrette dressing served with risotto!!! Delish!!! My daughter tried the Macedonian salad which is like a Mediterranean salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers which also had a vinaigrette dressing!! Very good!! She also had the pasta primavera with many fresh vegetables!!! My husband had the pasta Alfredo with six very large shrimp!!! This was also very good!!! We topped off our meal with a large piece of Key Lime pie which was out of this world!!! Wait staff had masks on. The bar area was quite busy with many people after around 8:30. So the night started great with our server taking our drink order!It was time to order and my mother and I wanted to share a filet. Ordered it medium rare. The food runner brought out our steak already cut on butter plates with the steak knifes on the plates. She puts our plates down, one steak knife falls off and the other went in the mash potatoes, no big deal....I cut in the steak and it's medium well! I alert the owner and she argues about the temperature and then offers a new steak on the fly! 30 minutes had gone by and my dad is completely finished with his meal and my mother and I are still sitting and at this point just want to leave. The owner brings out the steak drops it at the table and walks away! It's burnt on the outside and raw and cold in the center. I then walk over to the owner again and ask her politely if she would take the steak off the check that I wasn't going to eat it! She said "no, and if you don't pay for it I'm calling the police"!!!! We pay and leave and she's literally following us out yelling!!!! Being in this business myself this is not how you treat your guest! I was at Aqua in NYE and did not get a get receipt for my bill. I called when charge hit my credit card and asked for a detailed receipt. I called same day and was told to call after 5 when a Manager was available. I called and left a message and no return call. Called again 2 days later and women was able to read off my receipt. I told her that I did not purchase 5 drinks. She spoke to the Bartender who said she served us the drinks. I told the women I knew 100% that I did not drink those 5 drinks but was responsible for the rest of the tab. Her response was that I had a $254 bar tab and her Bartender was sober. First, I have to say that we ate there twice in two days. Lunch outdoors on Sunday, and lunch indoors on Monday. The food was good. Very good.
