Brandon Abbott went above and beyond today. We had a *massive* (not hysterical housewife massive, truly huge) hornet's hive in our front yard. While it took an hour or so, he managed to remove it completely, leaving only a couple of dying hornets as evidence of his total victory. Did I mention this also fell under the "free re-treat" promise they have? Because it did! And he did it without any stings! My only negative is that my video did not adequately capture his conquest. Brief rant regarding Aptive Pest Control in Worthington, Ohio ... we live at the end of a half mile long driveway with a Private Drive, No Solicitation sign prominently displayed at the end of the driveway. Last Friday morning I received an alert from one of the security cameras and assumed it was a delivery from UPS or Amazon, no knock, no doorbell. After a second alert I looked at the video and saw a young man dressed in black looking around the front of the house with a scooter parked on the sidewalk to the house, a third alert showed him on the scooter headed for the barn. I hung up the call I was on and went outside ... didn't see him so I headed down the driveway to see if I could find him. Half way down the drive I see him in the rearview mirror, I stop and hold up a hand for him to stop. He asks me if I'm a Grandpa as he has a special for Grandpas today ... my response was to ask who he was and what he was doing on our property especially since we have the no solicitors sign. He said his name was Michael and he worked for Aptive Pest control and they were offering specials in the area ... when I asked for a business card he refused and became pretty indignant (that's a nice way of saying as$hole) ... I asked that he leave the property, he got about 20 yards away and decided it was appropriate to call me an old grandpa Motherf'er and challenged me to a fight ... I AM an old grandpa and decided to leave well enough alone and simply contact the company to A) ensure he was who he said he was and ask why he was there without knocking or ringing a doorbell and B) speak with a manager so they could use this as a teaching moment ... spoke with 2 people on Friday that took info and contact info ... nothing. Spoke again on Monday ... again, nothing. I can't speak for their service but I do know, any company that deploys these sales tactics and simply sweeps these complaints under the rug, may be somewhat of a suspect organization to work with. This salesperson rang the bell at noon and started in with his sales pitch. I politely declined and then pointed out the "No Solicitors" sign posted in front of my house. He just kept on, trying to sell me his service. I finally said "it's been lovely talking to you" just to try to end the one-sided conversation and he answered "it hasn't been lovely talking to you". I asked his name but he wouldn't tell me. I did take his picture, though, which is a pretty good ID. He asked if I wanted a photo of his colleague with him and I said no, just wanted a pic of him. Aptive Pest Control - Rude salesperson who disrupted my day - Pest Control Near Me - Worthington, Ohio

We signed a contract for services from Aptive, and a copy of the contract was not left with us. Without the contract as a reference, we were unsure of how to proceed with stopping the treatments after two unsatisfactory applications. We called to say we were dissatisfied and no longer required their services. The administrators at Aptive demanded we pay their "full price" rather than the discounted amount for services rendered, even though we were unhappy with the results of the two treatments. Our reason for discontinuing the service was because we continued to see multiple insects all around the perimeter, the porch, and the patio our home. The full price is twice as much as the discounted price. Once signed, the contract assures the customer will be at the mercy of this ruthless company, and we were not left a contract document for a reference. First of all let me start out by saying The technicians they send out to do your service are usually good people. The person they sent to sell you the service from day one it's usually pretty knowledgeable. And also in my experience the first technician was all I can have asked for. It seems like a small price to sign for a yr contract. However this is all falsehood. After a while you don't become a valued member of the family as they say. You become a name on the docket. One of the most important parts of this service was not the outside but was the inside and due to scheduling was to be done at certain times so I could make sure that I was available to let them in my house. Like I said at the beginning it all worked perfectly but then things started to change and I was not getting the same service. I had to personally move appointments and cancel appointments but even then it still worked a little bit. But the last 6 months have been nothing but problems and their customer service is shit. So on top of that when I canceled via text a few months ago to stop this it was never recorded apparently and just today I had a service provided that I did not want. And yet my bank account was still hit. The customer service team that I spoke to today refused to do a damn thing in regards to this instead they sympathized with my plight And only now offered different times that I was never offered before that could have worked. And they thought I was going to keep my account . No you blew that chance a long time ago. One of the thing above it says oh no What could improve I will give you one thing that could definitely improve besides your complete lack of customer service Your crappy texting models. Several times I had to go and actually call because the texting wasn't working and maybe I should have known better to call and make sure that the text went through but that shouldn't be my problem Including don't let this company sucker you in. I had quarterly pest control service through Aptive for nearly four years. A couple years ago, they started automatically scheduling service every couple months, which ended up costing us several hundred dollars extra that year. Fortunately I became wise to their scheme the 2nd time it happened. They explained to me they have a new system, and that's how it schedules now, unless I have them reschedule it. This person was able to schedule my next year of quarterly appointments for me to keep me from canceling. When the year was up, they started automatically scheduling us every couple months again. But they now have an online customer portal where you can reschedule appointments yourself, but the online portal only lets you reschedule a week out, not fixing the problem at all. Totally sick of the sketchy way they are running things there, I cancelled my service with them. Crossing fingers there aren't any issues with that!!! As far as service goes, most of the service techs didn't do a thorough job (they'd spend like 5 minutes on our large house and yard), and I'd have to contact them for a reservice. They would always send someone back out, and I'm glad that was never an issue. Last year, we did have a tech who did a very thorough job, and we really noticed a difference. But that tech was the exception. And unfortunately, we've had the techs that do the bare minimum the last few times. Really hope I'm done with this company! read more

The sales guy was the only good part about this company! The technician that came to our house for our first service moved at a snails pace. I had to remind him that we paid for the basement and the yard too and he seemed rather annoyed. We were told it was a quarterly treatment, but then got charged double the price 30 days later. They said they did a service on July 22, but we were home all day with a plumber and gas company and multiple workers as we are redoing our house, nobody was there. BEWARE!!!!! SCAM!!!!!! Salespeople entered a "No Soliciting" community, despite the large sign posted at the entrance. It was after 6:30 p.m. They were riding on mini-Segways, going door-to-door. The young men appeared clean cut and wore navy polos and baseball caps with their logo imprinted as to look like a uniform. They carried electronic pads and business clipboards. The one that knocked and rang my doorbell was polite and persuasive, stating he, Matt, the route manager, was adding my address to treat for insects since the neighborhood was getting a "group discount". I told him I wasn't paying for anything. However, he continued, I had to act immediately to get the discount or pay triple or more since the "truck" was coming in around an hour. The HOA president happened to be strolling past and witnessed the solicitation and politely told him to leave the premises. He attempted to persuade her but reluctantly left in the wrong direction. She told me that the association had no contract with them. About ten minutes late he returned and explained he had spoken to the president and straightened out matters so he still needed my name, etc. I refused and told him that I would call her myself. He was willing to wait but I wasn't. Closing my door, I called her and found there was no such or any conversation. She had called the local police on them. Afterwards, I learned the officers did address them while they were still in our community and would arrest them if they did not leave or returned. The police had received complaints about them previously trespassing elsewhere. Just had a visit from a drive by sales person. I had to walk them out and point to the no solicitation sign that he had to pass to get to my front door. He then tried to sell me a neighborhood discount package and I literally had to ask him if he could read. He said he never passes up an opportunity for a sale so we had a nice chat about opportunities. I would recommend a retraining of your sales group to identify signage that keeps people away from doorbells that do not want to be rung. read more

Same problem as previous reviewers. Segway-riding clean-cut salesman, wearing an ID bracelet that said Cameron, never did introduce himself nor the company (though he was wearing an Aptive polo shirt), kept making promises and claims (three of your neighbors just dropped X company for us), and pushing us to make a decision on the spot because he would "...only be here today." I was standing inside the locked gate and he was outside it. After about 15 minutes I had to sit down. He asked me to let him in the gate. That's when I said I did not like being pushed like that, that neither my husband nor I had any idea what our current contract with X company is, we did not want to drop everything and research that contract, and we would not be signing with him. He left around 4:45. At 9:00 the doorbell rang. Fortunately, we have a door intercom. He said, "It's Nate, from pest control. Have you made a decision?" I said we already decided no and hung up. 15 minutes later, he started knocking on the front door, opened the screen and tried the handle. That door was already locked. I raced to the kitchen door and locked it, in case he was going to jump the fence. He kept knocking. As I locked the back door, I could see him looking towards the house from his Segway on the street. I have no comments about the actual company of Aptive but this guy is a menace. read more

We bought because we believed they were environmentally friendly and would not be harmful to our gardens (fruit, vegetables, etc.) our our animals (we keep a small number of chickens. We were lied to. The services were sprayed away from our gardens but still killed plants in the summer and we had to sequester the chickens even though we asked not to have anything put near them. They did us damage and when I called to cancel the had the gall to charge me for the rest of the contract. Bad experience. I wouldn't go back to them ever. read more

Against my better judgment I signed up with them. They sprayed twice. There were still spiders. It is impossible to get through to them on the phone. I left a note for the guy who was supposed to come spray the next time. He admitted the office was NOT staffed. I sent an email to cancel the contract. Someone returned the email saying I needed to call to cancel service. I spent literally an entire day calling. I finally reached someone who apologized and said the account was closed and the balance they were trying to change was taken care of. Yet I kept getting statements. I emailed again. They assured me the account was closed. Today I get a letter from a collection agency. This is one of the worst companies I have ever done business with. We continue to get charged for services not completed and they will not let us end service even though we do not have a contract. They continue to send techs out to treat our yard, we tell them we have canceled service, and then they send us a bill as though they treated the house. It seems to be some kind of tactic they use. They also tired to auto charge our card for these non services. We have tried by phone, email and text to communicate with them to no avail. What a scam. Salesperson told me that he'd sign me up for 3 treatments. The treatments didn't get rid of the ants. The techs seem oblivious to the ants and I had to complain and stay home another day to have them re-treat. I'm now being told that I have a commitment of 5 treatments and the last tech came to my house when I wasn't at home and they are trying to charge me for what wasn't done. I was referred to Aptive by a neighbor and was told we would get a $30 off referral discount plus an additional $50 off my first service from a promotion of their website. When the service tech showed up today he told me the price was almost double the price that they had told me on the phone. The tech tried to call and get the original price and the Columbus rep said they would not honor the original price they promised us. We will be switching to another pest service from now on. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on Aptiva!!! Their products DO NOT work!!! We were with Aptiva two years and it was 2 years too long. Each time I was promised better results and each time was disappointed by their empty promises. The service was performed and the next day we were still seeing spiders, flies, little critters etc. We ultimately ended up dealing with our insect and mice problem ourselves since Aptiva's products and service didnt work. Scheduling with Aptiva is also difficult. They give you a one day notice of when theyre coming out. Providing a 4 hour window for service time is ridiculous. Its difficult to schedule one service for a quarterly visit, let alone additional services bc their product doesnt work. Do your research on Aptiva. Look at their reviews- before you sign a contract. Ther products dont work. If we wouldve done our research on the company, it wouldve saved us alot of frustration and money $$$. read more

I wanted to like Aptive, I really did. The staff is kind and they provide good customer service, but the bottom line is that their product DOES NOT WORK. I signed up for quarterly spider treatments. After the first treatment, spiders were still lurking around the inside and outside of our house. Called Aptive back, they came back the following week and sprayed again. Again, a few days later, we still had spiders terrorizing us. Called Aptive yet AGAIN, and again they sprayed, and again, they failed. I ended up calling them back to let them know their product does not work. I'm giving them 2 stars because they were responsive and did not give me any problems about signing a contract. This company is a scam. Their salesman came to my house and promised to spray for bugs for a one time fee of about 30 dollars. I asked multiple time if it would require signing up for a service, he said no each time and asked me to sign his iPad. When I asked what I was being asked to sign he said it was just to do the work that day. I asked to read it and saw where it stated that there would be three more visits at $130 or more per visit. Told him, not interested, cancel the spray job. He became confrontational and wanted to argue even after I asked him to leave. Tom Pullem completed my service today. We just moved to a new home and scheduled our first pest control on our new home. We have been using aptive in our previous home for a little over a year with no problems at all. Today was no exception. We have more bugs here than we are are a custom to and Tom listened to my concerns and made sure he spent extra time at entry points of our home to stop the spiders from coming in the home. I like aptive because even though they only charge you quarterly, they will come out as often as needed to elementary the problem. Happy customer here. read more

I signed up for Aptive back in July of 2020. I received one treatment, but no bill. Then in October I got a notification from a collection agency stating that my account was in collections due to lack of pay. I called Aptive and got the run around- they told me they would call me back and never heard. I've been calling them recently trying to figure out what's going on and I get zero response. My account is still in collections and nobody can transfer me to their collections department because of "glitches." I have to now pay a cancellation fee or pay to restart my services which has been almost a year since I signed up. Their customer service is sloppy and they have zero idea what's going on. I've left a number of messages with zero return calls. Don't waste your time with this company unless you want inconsistent service and customer service people who have zero idea what their techs are even doing!! read more

These sales people are relentless and rude. A young man continues to come to our private community (signs posted at all entrances NO SOLICITING) in the evening. No one wants to answer the door to the "pest" from Aptive after 8p. He is quite the con man stating he is contracted with multiple homes in the community and not soliciting. He travels on a segway while his car remains parked in the middle of the street at the stop sign. He has apparently garnered some information about people in the community and spews this information in an attempt to hook others. I followed him around the community until he stopped at my own home and stated, "this is your house?". I felt threatened that he will be returning to damage my property. He continued to give me made up names of clients and said he was going to their homes to speak with them. I said great, let's go. He continued to twist and turn attempting to lose me. At last, he returned to his car and stated he would be back the next day. Just not a great representative for a company. read more
