Well, they were hired to take care of the ant and mouse problem. Mice returned, ants returned. They came and laid more traps, and spread ant killer outside. Three days later - more mice and ants! Called again. They came again. Repeat. Bugs never left, and they stopped showing up after I called, so I canceled. I did a better job remediating than they did with product from the local stores. And "Orkin Branded remediation and insulation" for almost $40k? Fuck outta here - I can find the same quality for far less. I called and canceled after their last failure to respond - and then they send me to collections for the payment for services not rendered. This was a terrible experience, and I won't be calling Orkin again. read more

Their On hold phone recording states if you have pest control issues we'll respond same day if it's before noon. We've had some spiders and silver fish running around possibly due to lots of rain so asked if they could come out today. That's clearly not the case as indicated by the rude response when I called and asked if someone could stop out. The customer service person said we have no one available until Friday. I explained that's not what your phone recording states and she said we don't have anybody it's the end of the month. We've spent a lot of money with Orkin for pest and mosquito control but with type of service I'll just look for another company. read more

They won't let you cancel service even with outstending debt. I changed my debit card (due to fraud) and Orkin just wants to keep billing me even though I want to pay them off before continuing service.They would rather keep billing you and having the debt increase every month. Also, the exterminators didn't go into the attic or craw space of my house. Another exterminator didn't even enter the house at all but I was billed 119.00 for that month. read more

Our local service is responsive and polite. However, 2 out of 3 scheduled visits have been past the scheduled window for our appointment due to the "Call Center" overriding the local schedule. Additionally, when I originally spoke to the Call Center to inquire about the service, I was told that the price was different than when the local service established my account. Because we needed to address the issue, I reluctantly agreed to the new price. Apparently, we have a sugar ant problem. I will be cancelling the service today as $60+ per month to get rid of ants is rather expensive. I'll place the ant bait stations myself. This is not a reflection on the local service staff. read more

be honest I wouldn't even give orkin in one star. they came out first time $129 the guy get a fantastic job. after that I had crappy service. they didn't get rid of my roaches. they kept bringing some girl out that I asked not to be here because she did such a horrible job. Many houses in our neighborhood get field mice and our basement recently had an issue. Orkin came out to treat the house and sealed the areas they felt were entry points. Technicians were very professional and courteous. Caught a couple mice after they left, but haven't seen more. I think the service worked. Good value to be rid of the issue. Very poor service! I paid $537 for a week's service in trapping raccoons. The first thing to know is that a week is considered 5 days to these people. Also, when they pick up a trap, they do not replace it with another dusting that visit. They bring out another trap the next day. So really, a week is 3 days to them. Also, I discovered 3 raccoons in my garage the day after their service ended. I removed these raccoons myself. read more

Orkin came to my home on 1/22/25 to inspect for bed bugs. The inspector found evidence of bed bugs in one room of my home. That day I signed a contract with orkin for them to treat my home for bed bugs. I was told that I would receive a total of 3 visits. The first 2 visits were to consists of them spraying/treating my home for bed begs and the 3rd visit was a follow up to ensure that the issue was resolved. I then scheduled for a technician to do the first treatment on 1/23/25. This technician did a great job or so I believe. I am not sure how they do their scheduling process but the technician said the following appointment should happen in a week. I assumed that orkin would contact me to schedule the second appointment but that didn't happen. I called orkin to follow up about scheduling the 2nd appointment. The 2nd appointment was a nightmare! The technician arrived at my home at 9:05am. She stood around talking for 15 mins and told me that I would need to leave my home for 4 hours. I gathered my things and left the house at 9:20am. Before I could even pull out of my driveway the technician was coming out of my home at 9:25am. She said "you're all clear I didn't see anything." These time stamps are on my ring camera. At no time did this technician bring any chemicals into my home. About 10 minutes after she was gone I received a service report stating that she sprayed several chemicals. I did not receive the service that I paid for. I couldn't speak to the office manager until 24 hours later and he was very rude. I asked for the corporate number and no one would give it to me. I was contacted by the general manager who only wanted to refund me 1/3 of my payment but eventually agreed to refund 1/2 after I said I would just contact a lawyer. I am very disappointed in the service I received. I don't usually write reviews but I want to make sure that others are aware that their homes may not really be treated. This cost almost $300.00 to exterminate yellow jackets. The technician did not look for any nests. He asked us where we saw activity. He was here maybe 15-20 minutes. Next day, increased yellow jacket activity. We were extremely upset because we thought he took care of us. We reached out, but no one returned our text because of weekend We had to call 4 times on Monday to finally get a response. One rep asked if the tech removed any nests. No, he was here so little time. In fact, my husband was stung on the weekend while mowing our yard. We were assured that we were taken care of at point of service...this is not how it turned out. I am terrified to go into our family room. We are to have tech here again tomorrow, we shall see how this turns out... read more

Everything up until they completed their work went fine. After their work was done(while we weren't home) we gave them our debit card info to charge us and they left. We never received a follow up call and they never charged our car. 30 days later we receive a bill from them while we're out of the country and come back into the country to find they've begun the proceedings to utilize a debt collector. Had an issue with rusting after they treated my yard on my gutter, ac unit and grill. These things weren't rusted before the application. Spoke to a manager, Bret Cremeans, and he was surprisingly rude even though I was not complaining or angry. Just requested compensation for the damage and he jumped into defense. I ended up closing my account with them right then and there. Don't do business with this guy. On a positive note, no pests. read more

Real issue with scheduling process with obvious over-scheduling by local office for actual technician. Two appointments set, both rescheduled with late or no phone call advising that the service appointment would not be completed. Always preferred Orkin, based upon good service in the past. Had an inspector, James, come out and inspect our bug problem to help us identify the bugs and figure out how to treat the problem. He couldn't identify the specific bug, and was going to check with someone else and get back to us that day or the next. He never called back. I called and left a couple messages over the next few days to find out what was going on and what we should do. To this day he has never called back. Needless to say we went with a local pest control company and they provided excellent service. Not only will I never use Orkin, I will never recommend Orkin to anyone. From the reviews I've read, I'm just glad I never signed up for any service plan. That's a nightmare I'd rather not experience. Then again, they might have signed me.up without my consent. I wouldn't be shocked. Their commercials are terrible and the business is a joke. read more

After returning home from vacation on Sunday evening, we found mice droppings in our kitchen and downstairs bathroom. My husband then spotted a mouse running behind the refrigerator. As we have a 10-month-old crawling around, it was important to us to have a safe and clean home for her and we called Orkin first thing on Monday morning. While we were pleased a technician was able to come to our house that day and the technician was very kind- that's where our satisfaction ended. I showed the technician all of the places we found droppings, he inspected the interior & exterior of our home and he was not able to find their entryway. He set several glue traps (without bait) throughout our home, placing some randomly in the middle of closets. He said he'd follow up with me on Monday and he setup a "plan" to come back every other month. This service cost $150++ upfront, and $100++ every time Orkin would come back every other month. My husband could have gone to Home Depot and set glue traps himself for much less than $150 plus $100 every other month. I called Orkin back on Tuesday to see if we could have a more aggressive approach and the person I spoke with said our techinician would call us back. He never called us back. After deep cleaning our house last night, this morning we spotted more droppings. The glue traps set by Orkin are completely worthless. I called Orkin this morning to cancel our service, as we are within the 3 day cancellation period. We were hoping to find an extermination company with a more aggressive approach. We know how to use and where to get typical glue traps and snap traps; we were looking for other tactics not available to us at Home Depot. We contacted and paid an exterminator because we expected to have this issue resolved. read more

If you have mice, save your time and money and do not call Orkin. Moved into our new home in August, discovered a mouse in the basement, called Orkin. Ended up having to sign up for extended service. It is now May and the mouse problem is out of control! They did NOTHING except put out a few traps, which I could have done for far, far less than the 100s of dollars I've shelled out. After I expressed dissatisfaction, a manager said he'd come out. HE NEVER SHOWED UP! No phone call, nothing. After being stood up by a SECOND MANAGER, I finally decided to cut my losses. Trust me, they have no idea what they are doing, at least with mice. So very disappointing. read more

So, Orkin is open for NEW customers right now, but not existing... I've paid for SEVERAL treatments for mosquitoes for two residences - mine and the grandparents' - both are in Clintonville. They gave ZERO evidence that they actually treated anywhere aside form my having been charged. My children are riddled with mosquito bites despite my having spent $500+ in treatments. I've called multiple times... "I don't know what happened, but we'll call you back." Nothing... no one ever called after two follow-ups on my end. I don't have time for this. Beware. I'm sure Orkin helps many customers, just don't rely on them to know all and to look out for the customer's best interest. They're salespeople. Period. Or maybe there's a disconnect between the field techs and the office? I purchased a package in 2014 that was way beyond what I needed and my technician didn't know fleas beyond what he read in a textbook. Number 1: Be calm when you call for help with a serious problem, like fleas or bedbugs. Do research before you call; always do research after you've contracted for treatment. Don't take the first offer because they'll offer a bigger package; only purchase what you need for the problem you have. I called to treat fleas and ended up also treating my house inside and out for spiders etc for a year. Make sure you know when all your appointments are scheduled. Watch all correspondence because Orkin may renew your service automatically (happened to me). Number 2: Work with your veterinarian when treating flea infestation. It's critical to have a plan to treat your pets in synch with the home treatment. Ask a vet about Capstar, it kills fleas on pets and lasts for 24 hours. A pest treatment includes a lot of hard work from the customer to control the environment and treat your pets until the problem is resolved. You have a "contamination" that demands attention to detail. Attack it like a 5 star general and know that you will win, but there are battles to get through first. read more

This review is being written several years after our Termite treatment encounter with the Orkin facility here in Columbus, OH. I now have another pest problem and while researching companies to treat what I believe are wood mites in our deck, I saw a couple of negative reviews of Orkin and decided to add my two cents worth. Our original inspection verified that we had termites. The "salesman" who came out told us that after Orkin was finished treating our home, we would never ever see another termite. He told us that a full crew of 4 or 5 techs would take most of the day to do the treatment. I had to be out of town on the day of treatment. When I returned home several days later, I asked my wife how the treatment went; "fine, except it took much less time to do and only two techs were needed." Turns out, these two techs were here for less than 2 hours. Called the salesman and told him we have a problem as the treatment was not done the way he said it would be. He said he'd get back to me. After I called several times over the next few days, leaving "urgent" messages each time, the salesperson finally called back and told me that there had been a "mix up" on the treatment order and that we indeed had not been given the treatment we paid for. He said we would need to reschedule the treatment - and then gave me a date six weeks out because "we are now in our busy season and we have customers waiting for their scheduled treatments and six weeks is the best we can do for a RE-TRREATMENT! Long story shortened - I raised hell with the parent company of Orkin at that time - (Ryder, not sure if they still own Orkin) and finally got an appointment for the following week (3 weeks after my first complaint to the salesperson) and they showed up on the Saturday morning of the Labor day weekend. About noon, I saw a guy with a big drill pulling up the carpet over the cement slab floor in the basement family room. He said he had to drill injection holes for the foam that would be injected all around the perimeter of that room. I told him there was a buried water line under that floor and, based upon where the water meter was located and where the water line entered the front yard, where I thought it ran under the floor and that no drilling should be done in that area. I left the basement and five minutes later heard the drilling start and then abruptly end with the operator hollering something about "hit water"! He indeed did drill right where I warned him not to and he indeed did hit the water line, resulting in a heavy spray of water coming out of the hole and wetting down everything in the room. The supervisor on site called his boss who told him to call a plumber. I was asked if I knew one who might come out on a holiday weekend. While I called the Worthington City Water Department to try and get the water turned off at the curb, the supervisor again called his boss (who was at home, not at the office) and asked him to find a plumber. In the meantime I tracked down a supervisor from the water department (thanks to help from the police department) who came out and shut off the water at the curb. At about 3PM, the Orkin supervisor on site told me that they could;d not get any plumber to come out till Tuesday morning because of the Labor Day holiday. There is much more to this story, but I don't have time now to mention all of the crap I've put up with. My advice, if you decide to have ANY type of treatment by Orkin, mare darn sure you have a complete description, IN WRITTING, of what will be done, when it will be done and who can be contacted immediately if you don't like how the treatment is going. And be advised - NEVER believe the salesman if he says you will never see another termite, because you almost certainly eventually find them again - as we have. read more

Orkin came while I was away this morning, to treat the perimeter of our small patio home in Dublin, OH for ants and wasps. I came home to find all our porch furniture red cushions spotted with nasty white stuff. The cushions on our $600 La-Z-Boy outdoor recliner are ruined, and now need replaced, but I can't find replacements. The base and arms of the chair are all covered in Nasty white stuff! I am devistated! The front door is a spattered mess. I will have to wash it off, so what was the point in spraying it? James also stepped on one of our mums in the flower garden, and of course it was one right in front. It will have to be replaced, or we will have to spend the entire year looking at half a plant! I will probably have to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to get reimbursed for the furniture cushions, and La-Z-Boy chair (It is not much use to us without cushions!) Do not let them near your home! The damage is not worth it! read more

Beware was a good warning from the other reviewer. For anyone wanting termite control, look elsewhere. They will come in and sell you "top notch" service, deliver sub-par service that yields less than desirable results then won't admit what they did. When you find out that they missed spots after you paid them to make sure your home was fully protected, they want to argue about how it happened rather than making sure you are a satisfied customer. THEN they have the gumption to ask for a hefty renewal fee. I think the renewal fee is large because they know they do subpar work and will have to come back. Do yourself a favor and use another company. read more
