We've been here before, almost 7 years ago, and decided to try again. Parking may be a challenge due to the place being shared by two other businesses. The place looks cleaner and more organized than previous visit. That was a welcomed change. Went on a Sunday mid afternoon and only two other tables were occupied. Initial service may be a little on the slow side but if you're not in a hurry then it's no big deal. Food did come out reasonably fast. We ordered some appetizers, which included lemon grass chicken wings, nime chow, and pea pod leaves. Every one was perfect. The pea pod leaves looked to be an appetizer special, and not a standard item menu, that's too bad, because they were fantastic. We had the bee bong for main course. Again perfect. While seated and eating, there was a steady stream of take out services coming in to pick up orders. I wish this place was closer to my area because this would be my spot. read more

Years ago this was a favorite restaurant so I placed a take out order while visiting. Clearly, things have changed for the worse. The pad Thai was barely warm, tasteless rice noodles with ketchup and egg. Really, just an insult to the idea of pad Thai. We got vegetable nim chow without a single vegetable other than lettuce. One of our favorite Thai restaurants in RI. The place is very small and we usually get takeout but have eaten there a few times. The teriyaki beef on a stick is phenomenal! Chive steamed dumplings, Vietnamese Bahn Hoi(lettuce spicy noodle wraps amazing) and crab stir fry satay noodles spicy with Chinese broccoli are my favorites!! You can substitute in the lettuce wrap and noodles beef chicken shrimp or crab. These are two appetizers and entree I get every single time!! That good!!! Yes the Vietnamese Bahn Hoi is more of a appetizer. I do like their nime chow but I prefer a thick peanut sauce not the clear with crushed peanuts. The menu at Apsara will make you dizzy... with delight! So many options and only one stomach! Oh the humanity!! Do you want noodles? Well there are probably 20 different preparations of noodles, each with your choice of veggies or protein. Stir-fry? Well they've got that too, but more varieties than you can count on your fingers and toes. Are you in the mood for Cambodian, or Thai, or Chinese? Pick your poison, the choice is yours. You'd think that with so many choices, Apsara would pillage your pockets in return. Well, that's a lie. A filthy filthy lie. The prices at Apsara are tremendously reasonable. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed a lunch special today containing a generous portion of fried rice (different from your typical fried rice, but delicious), chicken lo mein (heavy on the chicken and veggies and lighter on the noodles--less guilt and so tasty), and nime chow (enough said, it's perfection). All of this, with FREE TEA (OMG) for under $5! Yeah, I know! It's CRAZY! I took home leftovers too. Mind blown. So if you find yourself looking for a great deal on huge portions of delicious Asian food, and would like to try a different dish probably for the rest of your life because the menu is so extensive, then Apsara is definitely for you! Can't believe I haven't done this yet. The most amazing Thai food I've ever had. Don't live close anymore but, still make the drive whenever possible. Must have appetizer is the Nime Chow. Thai basil and fresh vegetables with that killer peanut dipping sauce. You can't go wrong. Thai Basil Chicken with white rice is my favorite. You can get it as hot as you want. I prefer 3 out of 5 in the heat level. Second favorite is Vietnamese Be Bong with chicken. Coconut milk is the glue that brings this dish together. Can't say enough about how much I love this place. I have been coming here for ages. I don't think I ever have given a review, at least one recently anyways. I have been to the other location also and I must say that this is a reliable, excellent Cambodian, Vietnamese and Chinese food joint. I think others come here for the Cambodian and Vietnamese cuisines as well. The food is affordable, alway fresh, and good quality. The amount for me is a little too large for me, but I imagine that it satisfies most everyone appetite. I usually don't order appetizers considering the portions of the food here. What amazes me the most is the sheer variety of food on the menu. So many to choose from. For someone who has never been here, it can be overwhelming. The tri-fold menu with the picture of the dishes actually help convey the essence of the dishes. Either way, I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

Got there around 6pm for dinner. I'd recommend - the earlier the better, there were about 6 empty tables when I arrived and they pretty much all filled up as we were dining there. Parking can be a hassle as there is a tiny parking lot and the rest is street parking. It's Hope Street - best of luck in your parking spot endeavors! The storefront isn't the most appealing, but it's the food we care for. I do find it strange that literally next door is another Southeast Asian restaurant, but hey I guess if one fills up - go next door. =) We started with Chicken Nime Chow and Lort (it's spelled Lort here, I'm used to it being spelled Lot - Lort to me is a noodle dish, but hey whatever floats yer boat). All Nime Chow lovers know that it's the peanut sauce that makes the dish - peanut sauce and bit of sambal chili always tops it off nicely- but i didn't thoroughly enjoy this one. The roll was a bit on the anorexic side and the chicken was dry. Most nime chow I've had are filled heavily. One of our rolls actually didn't have any chicken in it at all - but our waitress was kind enough to give us a replacement for it. The lot (lort) was good, nice and crispy. I had the cripsy fish with peapod leaves (cooked in a ginger scallion garlic oil) and my gf ordered chicken bee bong. She had been craving this dish for a while - that's what drew us here. I really enjoyed my dish ALOT - I love me some peapod leaves! The fish was cooked well but wasn't as crispy as I'd liked, must've softened from the steam of the veggies. It had a little more ginger than I'd like but overall really good and portion was huge! I ate about 1/3 of it and packed 1/3 for lunch still leaving a third for a hungry bf at home. My gf thought the flavor of the bee bong was good but the vermicelli noodles were way too soft, almost mushy. She was a bit disappointed but said she would come back to try other dishes. I always was a fan of Apsara, more fond of the one on Public st but come here once in a while. I ordered take out nine chow, crispy tofo with black mushroom satay sauce along with some other items for other folks. When I walked in, the place was empty except two waitress' I'm guessing, talking to each other at a front table. I walked to the counter and they continued talking then finally one let me know someone would be out. So if I wanted to sit and eat, I guess I would have been waiting in an empty place to be seated. While waiting for approximately 4 minutes, one of the ladies asked if I needed to order. I told her no I'm picking up. Finally someone came from the back to cash me out. Mind you, the bag of food was already in the front so one of the two sitting at the table chit-chatting could have cashed me out. The actual food was normal Apsara from Hope st; a little different tasting then Public st but still good. The Crispy tofo was on the greasy/oily side I will say. Public street Apsara is still my #1. This used to be my go-to Asian restaurant in Providence. The past couple years though, my bad experinces have outweighted the good. Little details in restaurants say a lot about what is going on behind the scenes. The sauces at the table are filthy, as is the floor. Vents in the ceiling for the AC are black. That vent is what pushes air into the whole restaurant, including where your food is prepared. I've had hair served to me twice. Today I had nime chow served to me where the rice paper had ripped badly, and the waitress just put it on the table for us, the contents spilling out onto the plate. This means two people, the chef and the server, thought that was okay to serve to customers...it just shows lack of care. Ingredients don't taste fresh. I had a shrimp dish today where the shrimp, downgraded from larger prawns to the tiny ones probably because they are cheaper, did not taste fresh. They had that overly sweet chlorine taste of old seafood. They've also forgotten items when I ordered takeout. I was told by the rudest woman ever, who usually covers the counter, that I could mention it next time I was in. I tried and the waiter thought I was trying to pull something and charged me for the item anyway. I've also seen this same woman being rude to customers who are complaining, which was awkward for everyone in the restaurant. I ask myself...why am I putting up with all this and paying for bad food that might make me sick? Especially when Wara Wara is across the street? Because it used to be amazing. I will not be back. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp stir-fry and asked for spicy. It was so hot he could barely finish 1/4 of it. I ordered Thai Pad See Ew Noodle and it looked and tasted like a plate of brown mush. Neither of wanted to eat the food. Very disappointing. read more

If you know you know - Apsara has some of the best Asian food around (the Hope St location to be specific). They have a wide variety of items on the menu to choose from. The food is always on point and you get a lot of it for a great price. The crispy Thai wings are the absolute best wings I've ever had and I've loved pretty much everything I've ever tried. Maybe we didn't order their best menu items, but our dinner tonight was aggressively mediocre. Definitely in the C- (maybe D+) range of all the Asian places I have ever eaten. We had the Vietnamese hot and sour soup, basil and pepper stir-fry, and Shanghai crispy noodle with seafood. The soup was not very flavorful and certainly not spicy. It tasted as if the large chunks of tomato, hard pineapple cores, and bland chicken had been tossed into the broth only a moment before serving. The stir-fry was nothing special, and my crispy noodles had so much sauce ladled on top that they soon became soggy. Staff seemed inattentive and spent most of our meal chatting with their regular takeout customers. An older man (friend of the owner/manager?) was watching videos on his tablet at top volume near the kitchen. The food wasn't *horrible* and didn't make us sick... and it was certainly cheap and portions were generous... but we would not return. read more

Also if you order noodles you can get shrimp, seafood, tofu, veg, chicken all for the same price of $7.50 heck ya! The lorts were kind of dry but there are 8! Comes with free tea. Was bummed they had to make a new batch of thai iced tea, so they said it'd be a while. But this place opens at 10am on the weekends heck yes! Food here is good but customer service is really bad especially when you call to place an order for pickup at a time when they are busy. I called several times and initially someone took the call and asked right away to put you on hold but then they left you on hold for a long time until you give up and hang up. I called 3 times and each time waited between 5 to 10 minutes and had to hang up. Calling to place an order for pick up should never be this difficult. Ok my review for this place has been long-outstanding and here i come. This place was close to my home when i lived in PVD and was one of my frequent places to grab a bite and still is after i started working at PVD again. After my short introduction some of you might be wondering as to why 3-star so here's my story. I like coming back to this place in pursuit of that good food but the consistency is a hindrance. Its always a hit and miss with this place and i don't know why. But the only reason i keep coming back is their Nime-chow and the peanut sauce and of course the reasonable prices. I don't mind spending 12 bucks on couple of dishes where one of it could be a spoiler cause what do you get for 12 bucks these days but thats just my personnel preference. After coming here, I can say my search has finally come to an end. Extra large, piping hot, freshly made. BEST I have EVER had. Rhode Island has a serious shortage of solid Chinese Food places depending on where you live. After my girlfriend and I moved to Pawtucket, we decided to stop in and give this place a go. We've been 2 times so far and are absolutely obsessed. The fried rice is flavorful and spiced well. The Duck is finger licking good. The Crab Rangoon's are some of the best in the area. Service here is friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back again. Note about eating in: If you are planning on going in on a Friday night, go directly from work, do not wait. This place is a 5-star Asian place, if you know what you're going into before hand. It's cheap, big portions, fast service, and servers are nice. Is it the best quality food you'll ever have? Certainly not. But that's an unwritten agreement when you walk into this place. It's good food with large portions, and a solid variety of options. The pad thai is very good (better at Bee's and Lim's) and the cashew stir fry is awesome (get the battered chicken, the regular is a little dry). Their nim chow is excellent, all rice is good, and their apps are very good too. The two of us eat a big meal with leftovers for under $30 including tip! read more

I was looking for different cuisine and after reviewing the online menu, I decided to give them a try for take-out. I was looking for Cambodian food, and since they were advertised as serving both Vietnamese and Cambodian cuisine, among others, I thought they would be different. So when I asked about their Cambodian dishes, I was bluntly told by a VERY young staff worker with attitude that "its all the same..." Knowing better, I insisted on Cambodian and so I ordered both the Plear (Cambodian beef salad) and Stir Fried Cantonese Noodle (Cambodian style). Both dishes were rather tasty but her attitude did leave a bad taste for ever going back. I asked her for a recommendation for an entrée, to which she offered a custom dish, emphasizing that it would include their fresh vegetables rather than their "regular" ones (photo uploaded). Aspara Palace RI A few beleaguered friends and I, who struggled and toiled on the Amica Rhode Island Marathon course on 10/14/12, decided to come here to celebrate the epic wins that came with the spoils of completing 2 full marathons in 2 days in 2 different states. It's equally rewarding for me, since I did it from Hawaii. We did not know what we wanted, since Asian cuisine was on our minds, but we could not narrow one down to a science. Thanks always to Yelp, we located Aspara Palace in Warwick. It was a smattering of Chinese, vietnamese, and some Thai into one plethora of ethnic goodness. While I do not prefer Chinese food, it's ok once in a long while. With the blessing of my RI friend, who happened to frequent the restaurant quiet frequently, we went there and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a stereotypical set up for a Chinese restaurant, but it is what it is. Can't expect eloquence from that, unless you are into P.F. Changs. Even then, that brand is not considered upscale Chinese. It was a nice place that did not need to be extravagant at all. Just an evening to hang with friends, to eat, and celebrate each other's accomplishments of the weekend. Since there was a slice of Vietnamese that was featured here, I scoured the menu for Pho, just because I was in a Pho mood and I certainly miss having it for a while. Everything seemed to lean in the Chinese or Thai corner, so I asked the server if they do and it was awesome. Although he told me that it was Cambodian based and not Vietnamese, I was always open to the idea of trying new things - or at least a variation of a favorite. The broth itself was a refreshing change and quite different from what I knew to be Pho - or at least the Vietnamese version of it. It was all good though and it was pretty tasty. The service was good, average, and expected. Props to the server for recommending the Cambodian version of their Pho to me. I am a fan. My other friends had the pineapple fried rice and orange chicken with broccoli and jasmine rice. Happy to be filled with Pho after a harrowing epicness of the marathons. It was a great Sunday evening to chill out majorly, even though we talked a bit loud in the restaurant about our marathon stories so much so that a few patrons leaving the restaurant, said congratulations to us.
