Our dryer died. It was unexpected only because we expected the washer to go first. I spent hours looking at reviews, applying for a box store credit card, loading up my shopping cart with extended warranties and parts only to come to the very end where the box store indicated that the product I wanted could be delivered, but there was no professional installation available. Say what??? Everyone knows that if you don't have their installers handle the installation, the moment you try to use that extended warranty that you've purchased they will tell you, "the warranty was voided by the installer." NOPE, not going to happen. So I came on yelp. Appliances on Lakeside had great reviews, was local, and nearby. Couldn't ask for more. We walked into the store and were greeted immediately. Mr. Ray came over to help us. I explained that I was looking at their GE machines on-line and we wanted to purchase a washer and dryer. I went from the top-of-the-line to a "lower" model because I really didn't want all the bells and whistles (15 functions???? I need maybe 3 and no, I don't need wifi because honestly, I don't care if my wash is done - I'll move it to the dryer when I get to it). Mr. Ray looked up the machine I was interested in, and while it was going to take at least 3 weeks for delivery, the price was even less than what was on the show room model. I like less. The installation (professional!) along with the recycling of the existing is all one price. The parts (new hoses are a must) were less than the box store. The warranty (same amount of time and basically the same price) is actually BETTER than what the box store covers. I'm liking local. I like walking out of a showroom happy about my purchase. read more

The washer was making loud sounds so I called and tried to make an appointment. I was told they do not service stackables. Sold me on stackable then left me hanging. If you buy from here hope your appliance doesn't break. Bought an Asko dishwasher in December and it stopped working on February 16th. Believe the other bad reviews about their customer service, now under new management Jason Medico, sales Casey Franz. We went over a month of downtime and zero proactive communication from the store. It shouldn't the customer's job to chase down management for updates on a defective product. On March 2nd RVA Repairs, Lakeside's Asko service third party came for ten minutes and said they didn't know the problem and said would order a new main board, UI board, and latch but wasn't 100% sure that would fix it which would also be another two week turn around time to order/ship the parts and fix. Ended up having Asko send a replacement on March 9th with Lakeside Appliance's contractor who they've worked with for "over 30 years" to install it the next week. No service window was provided for when the plumber contractor would come to install new dishwasher. Had to call Appliances on Lakeside to contact them to let me know when the installation time window was. Kevin, the contractor, scratches the front of the dishwasher right off of the van and scratches the doorhandle while installing it. Avoid this store if you value follow-through and reliability. read more

My salesman ordered me a Maytag stackable washer and dryer. It took 10 days to arrive, and the control panels of the washer failed almost immediately. 10 days later, the store doesn't yet have the parts in stock to fix the washer. I agreed to let them fix rather than replace the unit, but now I am sorry. They have no parts in stock for repairs to defective Maytag washers, to say the least. They leave me, a once hopeful Fan customer, without recourse for 14 days and counting. This shouldn't be. If you make your claim to be excellent at service, installation and sales, be EXCELLENT. Lakeside has no power to make Maytag rush a replacement control panel for a garbage washer unit. Shame on Maytag. I rate my transaction 2 stars, COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER. I bought a dishwasher before Labor Day...the GE unit was the same price at big box stores but Lakeside App. had the cheapest installation. They did not say it would take almost 3 weeks for delivery, that the installer needed THEIR plumber who said he wanted $200 MORE to go under the house and plumb. A $498 dishwasher cost me $450 to install and took multiple appointments. It was left sitting in my dining room...I had no choice. I had the plumber call the store but he could not get the owner, only Jon, the salesmen, who told the plumber to get the cash from me himself. Very unprofessional all the way around. The plumber was a nice man but that did not help my situation. My unhappy review got the owner's attention and she called me and tried to make me feel better but bottom line is Installation=$250, not $400. Impossible to reach the owner by phone. Very insulated by her staff. Read the reviews before you use Lakeside Appliance please. They seem to have a common theme...easy sales..bad service. Purchased a speed queen washer & dryer from Lakeside. I had a decent idea of what I wanted so the purchase process was easy. They set expectations that the black model does take ~4 week, which it did. But at least I knew the estimated timeframe. Installation was quick and easy. Buyers Beware! If service after the sale is important to you make sure to ask if their one technician will travel to your address. AOL will sell you an appliance, deliver that appliance and then refuse to service that appliance if you live outside their service bubble. I was stunned to learn that their excuse for limiting their service area was that they only have one technician. Ask before you buy. read more

At this point I have made 2 major purchases from Lakeside. Both have been great. My speed queen washer/dryer and a GE fridge. Both experiences have been fantastic. I have used service for my dryer once (now about 10 years old) as the coil needed to be replaced. They were quick, had the part and I didn't have any delay. Tech was friendly and curious. Purchased Speed queen dryer and within 2 years, we had three major issues - melted grille, broken knob ( a common issue), and insane noise for the entire cycle. We had the tech come out for this unbearable sound. They said it's "normal " for the machine to sound like this. They were not able to fix while the machine was under warranty. The 25 yr warranty they pushed is just a sales gimmick. The appliance on lakeside tech for the speed queen is totally incompetent. We try to help and promote local businesses. But, we truly regret this purchase. It's a very unfortunate and costly error for us. Do not buy! read more

This is a tough review to write. We started with Appliances on Lakeside after a terrible experience with GE. Our oven's liner chipped excessively through out the oven. When we broached the subject with GE, they told us the chips were edible and not to worry about the cosmetic damage. Once my wife was sliding a meal into the oven when a piece of the oven liner flew out and into the corner of her eye. She has had 2 surgeries to date and the disfigurement to her face remains. We explained our plight to Tammy, the owner, who was excessively helpful and gave us hope for rectifying the problem. She convinced us that GE was not a bad brand, even though their service, when not handled well, could be abysmal. So, we spent $1,200 more and purchased an upscale range based on Tammy's advice. The range was delivered with the stove's vent guard looking like someone had used it as a hammer. The delivery people replaced the new, damaged vent guard with our existing one that looked better. When we went to use the oven for the first time, we noticed that the same chipping as in our less expensive model was present. When we broached this with Jason, a sales manager at Lakeside, he said the range looked like it was 10 years old and he would initiate help with GE. Jason set up for GE to come out and see the range. He also spoke with Tammy. After his conversation with her, Jason told us we had to go to GE because we didn't buy the range from Lakeside. After our heads spun 360 degrees, we showed him the receipt from Lakeside and explained Tammy was confusing our first range with the second. Her response was to tell her employees not to take our calls. And not to help us. The final straw came when we were told to apply vegetable oil to the racks to mitigate the chipping. Alas, Lakeside reversed course and was way worse than GE. My advice is go Big Box and avoid Appliances on Lakeside at all costs. Poor products, poor customer service, and a bit of crazy. Our experience with Lakeside, and more importantly the owner Tammy, left us very shaken up. read more

I'm all for supporting local businesses. That is why I went with Appliances on Lakeside. I thought I would be helping a locally owned business with a large sale. I knew I would be spending a lot of money when I walked in. I ordered a Wolf 36", 6 burner, gas convection range, matching exhaust hood and motor in June of 2023. As soon as the exhaust hood was in several weeks later, I picked it up and handed it over to the mechanical team for installation. They had to manufacture the piece to connect the fan to the duct work because the Wolf product was on back order until January. I wasn't waiting until January to finish my kitchen renovation. You also don't have a long enough cord to make this work. Fortunately, the parts guy recommended a dishwasher replacement cord which worked like a charm. In July once we got closer to knowing when the installation date would be, so I went in to talk to my sales guy, Britt, to prepay for delivery, installation, and an extended warranty. My sales guy, Britt, called the installation department to get a price of $250 to install the range. When my GC called to schedule the installation, he was informed that he would have to pay an additional $400 before they would install the range. This really felt like they were holding the range hostage until we met their demands. I called Britt to ask what was going on. He said he would check. He called back later saying that there would be an additional fee because he charged the wrong fee. I was pretty upset at this point. I walked into the showroom to ask what the actual price to install would be. I explained what was going on and the sales guy who was there threw Britt under the bus saying, "He should know better." I asked what the installation price should have been, and he brushed me off saying it wasn't $250.00. He also said it wasn't $600.00. This guy said, in a very condescending manner, "Have you ever carried one of these? I have and they are heavy." That he had and it took 4 people to get it moved. Note: This is 6" wider and 58 pounds heavier than the standard 30"range. While I agree it is more awkward to move than the standard 30" range, it isn't that much different. I mentioned that I was tempted to chuck the whole order and get my money back. This guy said, in an irritated tone, that there was a restocking fee. To date I have never received the actual installation cost. Today the range was delivered to my home. There were not 4 men there. Two, (2), men carried the range from the truck, up the sidewalk and steps, and into the house. A third guy took care of the paperwork and carried the accessories. While they did say it was heavy as hell, they took a moment and caught their breath, and had big smiles on their faces. They were in fact, the best part of today. So nice and polite. Far and above nicer than the sales manager I spoke with the day before. Now it is in my kitchen waiting on a plumber to install. Here's hoping this happens sooner rather than later. After the hood was installed, I discovered the baffles were not included in the box, (yes, I broke every box down and they were not there.) Britt handled it and got the baffles ordered. It took several weeks to get them delivered, they are now up, and things are running smoothly. I have since discovered that my sales guy has left that Appliances on Lakeside. I honestly don't blame him since his boss blamed him for everything. As of this posting, I still don't have the actual price for delivery and installation. That is, apparently, a closely guarded secret. I really feel the sales manager is a bit of a misogynist. He was less than helpful and treated me like an incompetent individual. 'How dare I question him!" If you treat me like an intelligent human being, I will respond in kind. Overall, the sales part was pretty good, the rest sucked balls! read more

This place is a real life saver!!! I just bought my house in Feb 2020 and knew the oven element had a hot spot, but I didn't know it was going to catch fire in late March 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Where was I going to get a new one?! I couldn't afford a new oven or someone to come fix it. I searched Yelp and found Appliances on Lakeside was still open for people. I called them up and their parts department immediately helped me and had an exact match for my 2006 oven. I was able to pay by phone and just stop by to grab it. It was amazing!! Wonderful service!! I ordered a new stove in early February. I was told that it was difficult to get new appliances at the moment, which I understood, and that it might take a month or so to receive my item. Fair enough. As the due date approached with no word, I called multiple times for updates with no response. All order status requests are sent to an (apparently unmonitored) voice mailbox. When I finally called and got a human, I was told that it was "impossible" to provide updates to people, and that I would have to wait another month. As that due date approached I called again with the same results, finally having to call the sales number to request an update. Two and a half months passed after the initial order, and I discovered that a comparable item was available with a short period of time from the big box stores. At least they were pleasant enough about the refund, but I was completely let down by the experience I had. Customer service was non-existent, there was zero concern about my outstanding order over several months, and here I still am, stoveless. I try to support local businesses wherever possible, but with service like this, I can't recommend them. read more

Decided to shop here first because they had good ratings. I found a refrigerator I liked but it was in the wrong color. The salesman I spoke to said he could order one in the color I wanted and gave me the model number. I went home to do my due diligence and research the reviews and found that he gave me the model number of a totally different refrigerator. Since I was told that I could order the appliance over the phone, I shudder to think of the nightmare if I hadn't thoroughly looked at the fridge online and discovered it was not the same. I called the next day and received voicemail, I left my name and number and never received a call back. So, I ordered my fridge from Home Depot. I would have much preferred not giving my business to a big box store, but my experience with Appliances on Lakeside was a bust. I purchased a GE dishwasher and stand alone Whirlpool ice maker from them a few years back. They broke my bar tile top installing the Ice maker because the installer would not listen to me telling him it was a drain thru the floor system NOT a pump out.... and the GE dishwasher they sold me, the heating element which had a design flaw failed. There repair dept would not work on EITHER of the 2 units when they failed. They took the money to buy but would not repair what they sold...??????? My partner and I want to support local businesses. We went here to buy a small appliance. My partner and I walked in and spoke to a salesperson. The sales person completely ignored me, a woman, the entire time we were in the store. My partner explained what we wanted and the sales person got us the model number and all the information we needed. We told the salesperson we would think about it and would call him back. Obviously I did not want him to have the sale, but I still wanted to support a local business. I called and spoke with the owner, who funny enough is a woman. I explained the situation and she was fabulous. She helped me order the item that I needed. however, the original sales person had incorrectly given us the information and we ended up returning it. At this point, I no longer wanted to do business with them. I gave them 2 stars because the original salesperson was unacceptable and in the end still messed everything up. If you ever need a part that's hard to find, they can get it and in my experience, they can get it quicker than the other "like" place in town. I broke the oven while cleaning it. And luckily, my hubby knows how to use Google to look up what we needed to fix the problem and stop making me feel bad. Turns out, the piece of the oven that I broke off was burnt through (Learned it from Paul at this place). After finding the piece that we needed to fix the oven, my husband called around places to find what we needed. He called up this place and told them what I did, the pieces that we were looking for, and how we could fix it. They are very knowledge and they were super friendly (and they even held the pieces that I needed so I could easily pick them up). I came into this place and was helped instantly. Sorry to say, I will not be using Broughton Appliance Service on Lakeside anymore. I have been a customer for over 25 years. Since they have been affiliated with Lakeside Appliance their repair service is very poor. Hard to even get someone on the phone and when you do, they cannot come for over a week or more. Had a technician trying to fix my washing machine for 3 weeks! Never felt like he really knew what he was doing. Everytime he ordered a part (which were wrong) we had to wait a week in between services. Ends up it was an easy fix with the lid lock. Seems like this could have been diagnosed in the beginning. I even suggested this to him because I had seen that this could be a problem from my research on the internet. Life is too short to get this frustrated with fixing an appliance. Lakeside provides the products I need at a competitive price and the personal service I grew up with. I just don't see this in a Big Box store. Our refrigerator started leaking coolant and we needed a replacement fast. Because the broken fridge was counter depth, I thought we were looking at a $3000+ purchase (OUCH!). The sales person told us if we didn't mind losing a few inches of floor space a regular depth fridge would save us a lot of money. He didn't have to do that. He pointed out the pros and cons of a few models and explained the "why" of each. Long story short, we were out the door with a unit that fit our needs better, a 5 year extended warranty and a delivery date 48 hours later for roughly $1600. If we had gotten to the store 2 hours earlier, they could have delivered the next day! That's service. read more

Our Refrigerator stopped chilling the week before Christmas. We were told by three repairmen that the model number was an LG with a known compressor issue. It was un-repairable. We did some looking on the internet. To be honest we went to the big box stores. They both told us they had nothing in the models we chose until Mid-February. I then remembered the Appliance On Lakeside store. Several years earlier we found them when our washer died after only three years. We went there December 18th. Jason was very helpful. He knew the details of the fridge we were looking at. He told us he could get the fridge to us by 12/23. Also priced competitive to the box stores. It arrived on time on the 23rd. The delivery men were super efficient in getting the large fridge into the house and hooked-up. They paid attention to details like door alignment and water line attachment. Then they hauled away the LG box. We are super happy with our new GE Profile. We were also super happy with the service in store and delivery we received from Appliance on Lakeside. read more

I had numerous problems with the installation of a KitchenAid dishwasher purchased at Appliances on Lakeside including the machine did not run at all. It took over a week to get this resolved. It was not installed per the manufacturer's installation guide. Three different installers/technicians could not explain why it does not fit in my standard cabinet. I was told that 'something' was interfering with the unit fitting in a standard cabinet. They even suggested that I need a non-standard cabinet. Also be prepared to clean your house. From muddy boots, wood shaving in the cabinets, and water on the floor, etc. they made no effort to clean up after themselves. I wonder why I choice to use a local store. I could have gotten this level of service from the big box stores. read more

Had a manager who said he would call me in 48 hours because he said he would have more info. Again no call back. It is so hard to get a living person who can help you! Service. That's the one word that makes a brick-and-mortar survive these days and that's where Lakeside shines. You *may* -- but not always -- save a few bucks buying online or at a big box store. However, when you need a seller to not tell you "that's between you and the manufacturer" or you'd just like some help from someone who cares if you return to their store, you'll thank yourself for patronizing Lakeside. Our clothes washer recently "exploded" which is to say that the internal tub support failed during spin cycle. In addition to helping us deal with the manufacturer's response -- and seeming lack of concern -- Lakeside expedited a replacement under the extended warranty/service plan such that our down-time was minimal. As long as they carry the appliances we want and that fit our home, I guarantee we'll shop there first. read more
