I've visited 3 times now. Once when there was a neat festival going on, and twice during the week where it was quiet. He ice cream stand is amazing, huge ice creams for cheap prices mean I will be investing in pants with elastic waistbands in the near future. My canine buddy loves the delicious vanilla ice cream in a cup and threatens to jump over the counter (i do too) when he finishes. Been dying to come to Applecrest ever since I moved to the area and I finally visited during the Blueberry Festival this past weekend! I came at the tail end of the festival at 2pm (it ends at 3pm) so I did not get to experience much of the actual festival but the band seemed cool. I was mostly interested in picking the blueberries! We opted for filling up individual small cartons (fixed price) rather than one large one (priced by lb) which seemed like the best option for myself and group of 4 others. The blueberries were huuuuuge! And so tasty! There was ample amount to pick so I did not feel like I had to hunt super hard. The market is awesome and full of delicious goodies. Definitely recommend the apple cider donuts, penuche fudge, and their selection of cheeses. Items in the market seemed a bit pricey but I justified it as it seems most items are local/small biz/home made. Will definitely return for the peach festival next month! read more

I was very disappointed about the grocery store. Yes it is beautifully organized now and a feast to the eye to see the beautiful products laid out. However the service and the cashiers were not friendly to say the least. I was standing in line for 10 minutes on a Tuesday around noon time when not much was going on in the store. I felt treated poorly as the person who bagged my few products and the person on the cashier kept talking to each other, ignoring me completely. I I have been coming here for years before Applecrest decided to turn into a unpersonal commercialized farmstand giant. I'm sad to see what it has become and I will not come back. read more

We had a very unpleasant time at this orchard picking apples. We were yelled at like animals by multiple employees, lectured on how to pick fruit, and publicly berated by condescending staff. And $20 for a tiny bag of about 10 apples is ridiculous. Feels like this place is run by ruthless penny-pinchers. I recommend going to a different pick-your-own orchard. read more

We took our 2 kids to pick apples 9/18/16. When the ladies in the orchard announced the price for a "peck" aka small bag of apples is $25??!! And the larger bag $40?!! Holy cow!!! What's in those apples? And they are NOT organic, they have spray residue on them. I felt the whole thing is losing its family appeal because it's so darn expensive. Next year we'll give our business to a more authentic experience, not as commercial, and certainly not as expensive. read more

We have visited Applecrest each Fall for the past five years. We always leave happy. We have been there for a fun day with a live band, face painting, apple cider, hay rides, tractor pulled ride. Our kids love it. We go for pumpkins, not apples. Some years are better then others-pretty sure that is due to mother nature not the farm. Still we always leave with pumpkins, cider, smilles and a great memory. read more

Seems they have both hands out every time you turn around. $35 for a bag of pick your own apples, I thought my husband was going to faint. $7 for apple cider donuts. $3 per person to pet and feed the animals. $5 per person for the hay ride. Went today with our grandaughter, really nice place but you need a car payment. Apple picking for a peck was $25, in the store $7.95. you don't find out the price until your at the field and how do you tell the kids no. To see the goats is $1 per person and $2 for feed. I feel more people would go see them if feed was $1 and no per person. In the store prices were high, $16.95 for an apple pie! I know they built this new place but I think they want to pay it off in a year. Before anyone criticizes I know it cost money to have this place and they do offer a lot and I have no problem being charged for things but I thought everything was on the high side. I;d go back again as it is nice but only spend money on the more reasonable things. read more

I ordered asparagus, picked up and paid (expensive), trusting that my special order would be treated with care and respect. HA. When I got home I found that the old overweight woman behind the register gave me MULTIPLE 1.5" diameter stalks (hidden in the bag). They looked like the tops of Christmas trees. This is a great spot with some farm to table food. A lot of gluten, but I can usually find something on the menu. At lunch I often get the chicken lettuce wraps- they are delicious. A large selection of hard ciders, which you don't see often in restaurants. Yipee! I always enjoy shopping in their farm store afterwards. The Harvest festival was a blast. We went there a few times and loved the bluegrass music. Very much recommend this place! read more

Lovely farm almost hidden on a road leading into Exeter. They have a huge selection of home grown items and just decadent baked goodies. I was even able to find duck eggs and quail eggs! The tomatoes are excellent and they have a colorful assortment. Interesting veggie items you don't see everywhere, even in other farm stores. The prices are high. Higher than places like Tendercrop. I view the place as somewhere to get hard to find items (like duck eggs) but not to do all of your veggie/fruit shopping. An employee asked me three times if I needed help and seemed to be following me which felt a bit odd. Not sure if they have issues with theft, who knows. Their wine selection is awesome with a great selection of fruity wines. There's a store at the other end of the parking lot that sells ice cream. I tried the blueberry and it was fantastic. I haven't bought any prepared meals or drinks from the cafe but the menu looks yummy. I'll be back as it's such a cool place and really nice to see harder to find items available. read more

After a TERRIBLE experience at Smolak (our previous favorite place) we took a chance at Applecrest and wow what a difference. Smolak had all rotten apples almost nothing to pick from and we ended up returning our bag without picking. Applecrest had row after row of pristine apples, so pretty you almost (almost!) didn't want to pick them. The store is a madhouse but has tons of cool food items. The cider donuts are amazing. We were also there during a fall festival and they had grilled corn and other grilled food that was all really fun. Apple picking is always more expensive than just buying apples at the supermarket but what is the fun in that! If you are looking to pick you should go out of your way to go here! read more

When fall comes around, I get the itch to join hokey fellow New Englanders in traditions such as apple picking and I don't know, heavy-sweater wearing and walking around sipping cider out of a Styrofoam cup. Applecrest is the perfect place to match the Norman Rockwell-esque vision in my head, and so we head there every year for their harvest festival. It is always busy during this season, with hundreds of cars in the makeshift parking lots in the nearby fields, but there is plenty of room for all. Five stars alone for the bluegrass band, especially the awesome sounds of the banjo. It is so impressive to watch the musicians' fingers flying around on their instruments, and they certainly put the whole crowd in the right mood to thoroughly enjoy the simple pleasures the farm offers up. There is a wonderful centerpiece built sky high of hay bales, scarecrows, and I believe mums and pumpkins, and it is a popular photo spot that we use ourselves every year to watch our son grow. Nearby to the stage is an outdoor barbeque tent, which includes a delicious squash and cranberry soup (even better than I thought it would be), and roasted corn. The cider doughnut stand...holy cow, I can't get enough of the warm cinnamon sugar doughnuts that have a light crispiness on the outside and are soft inside-the perfect snack. I wish they only sold them singly instead of also as half-dozens or dozens, because temptation wins and I wind up eating 6. This year, we tried the ice cream stand for the first time, and I had homemade apple pie ala mode with pumpkin ice cream made just down the road. They even have doggy sundaes, so we didn't have to eat in front of our poor, oh-so-deprived puppy. Of course, they make the menus extra cute too, with colorful little chalkboards describing delicious sounding flavors that make decision time near impossible. The entire layout is dog friendly, and we were even able to bring our furry family member on the tractor to the apple fields. She had the best time with all of the new experiences and scents, and we sincerely appreciate Applecrest for allowing pets. There is plenty more for the kids too: face painting, scarecrow building, a story book hayride etc, so expect to spend at least a few hours. These days, the price of the entertainment value is obviously built in to the price of the fruit at all of the farmstands , but I don't mind a bit-they deserve it for the warm family memories... a nice tradeoff in my book. Will most likely return in a few weeks for our pumpkin-it is so much more fun to go out in the fields to choose your own instead of grabbing off a monster pile at Walmart, that is for sure! read more

I've been going here every fall for as long as I can remember. This place is awesome! It's a little pricey, but it is completely worth it, at least from the experiences I've had. The apple cider donuts and apple cider are now one of my FAVORITE fall foods, and they have a petting zoo as well, with little feeding stations, which is great if you have kids. You can take a hayride to the orchard where the apples are grown, and the apples are amazing! Just like most freshly picked apples, they taste wayyyyy better than store bought apples by a long shot! They also grow other crops, that you can pick, like around spring or summer I'm pretty sure that they have peaches and strawberries as well. They have recently added a market area/ restaurant a few years ago; I haven't tried that out yet though. All in all, I love going here, and will definitely continue to come back!! read more

We have been going to Apple Crest Farms for over 15 years, but this year will be the last. It went from a great family farm to a Whole Foods with an orchard. It's just sooooo gentrified. I wish them nothing but success , but I won't be a part of it. read more

We have not been to Applecrest in several years, but decided to go back this past weekend. I was very surprised to see how commercial it has become. I absolutely agree with a previous review that it is basically a Whole Foods with an orchard. They built a sit down restaurant and sell all kinds of package items you can buy at organic stores. I grew up in the suburbs and I have been to many farms and orchards throughout NH, ME, and MA and miss the true "farm experience". It's a little too yuppy for me. It was very busy when we went there, which was expected. We waited in line to take the tractor to the orchards but were not told how much it would cost. Once you get off the tractor they tell you the prices. We got the small bag, 1 peck, for $20. I understand picking is partly about the experience, but for $6 I was able to pick the same size bag at Brooksby Farm in Peabody. There are charges for everything short of the port-a-potties. I'm saddened by all the big changes, and this is no longer the type of place I am interested in visiting. read more

I've been picking apples with the family at Applecrest every fall for more than ten years. And as a local, I often visit their farm stand in summer for local produce. I'm sad to say - no more. Just returned from picking apples with my elderly mother-in-law. We swallowed the exorbitant price ($30 for a half bushel!) and walked to the fields. Imagine our shock to see trees laden with fruit - fruit that looked anything but appetizing. The apples were hit hard by fungus this year. No one warned us about this. It was next to impossible to find any apples without hard, scaly patches all over them. We primarily buy apples for eating, not baking, and we don't want to have to peel them in order to eat them. We spent nearly an hour wandering through the rows trying to find apples that weren't covered with fungus or cracked open from the fungus. Finally, we gave up and decided to head back to the farm stand to request a smaller bag. Sorry - no refunds we were told. And the lady in charge rather rudely insisted we purchase all the apples we picked - even the ones we didn't want. Their only concession was to charge us by the pound instead of by the bag (which we didn't fill). So we paid $26 for a peck which would have only cost us $18 had we chosen the smaller bag in the first place. Will never pick apples here again. The place has gotten too commercial. Fine for our neighbors to the South, who don't know better. If you want good produce, better try elsewhere. read more

This was our first trip to Applecrest Farms. By far the Best Apple Picking I have ever done. The selection was amazing, the apples were perfect. The price a Bit excessive $30 for a 1/2 bushel. They have many other attractions, a Live Bluegrass Band, Petting Zoo, BBQ, Ice Cream and other fun things. My kids were mostly excited about the Horsedrawn Hayride. $5 a head which totaled $45 for the 9 of us was a bit excessive plus add 2 for my in laws. I have 7 children so anything I do is expensive, but most other places charge &1 or $2. The worst part of my day was waiting in line for this. It wasn't the time I waited, it was the overbearing controlling woman keeping every "In Line" literally. She was very rude and took her job way too serious. She kept backing people up for no reason with nowhere to go and yelling at people to get in a single file! Really? There are over 200 hundred people waiting and you want us in a single file? After waiting in line for 45 minutes she lets a family of 5 get on the Hayride, tells us we have to wait for the next because we were a group of 11 and wouldn't fit when clearly any person could tell we would have. She then let 7 people on and then another 4! Do the math. And then was asking for a group of 2!! Most of my kids are 9 and under and small, but it was just her way of being the controlling rude person she is. I would recommend coming here but skip the Hayride especially if you see a Crazy Lady running the line!. Overall I really like Applecrest, its a bit overpriced and gets crowded. If the prices were more reasonable and the Crazy Lady running the Hayride wasn't there this would be a 5 Star Review read more

Luv picking apples in the fall! Blueberries in the summer! They have so much more, peaches, raspberries, etc. prepared desserts, fresh & frozen if ur not up for baking. Cutting of fresh flowers! They were gorgeous. Some looked 'fake' as they were such vibrant colors & just so perfect. Cider & cider donuts! New building is beautiful. Luv the decor. Haven't tried the restaurant yet but the menu & outdoor seating was very inviting. :) There are lots of fresh fruits & veggies, jams & jellies to choose from. Check it out! read more

My wife, our son and his girl friend went today. 1st time for us. I did read the reviews they were mixed. In the past years we have gone to bridgewater Ma.to PYO. Apples. I thought we would try somewhere different this year, I'm glad we did, the weather was perfect for picking. The trees were pretty easy to pick from. They had given us maps which showed the rows of different types of apples and what the colored ribbons meant. We ate at the grill ;the line was quite long,but there were canopy tents set up to keep the sun off us. This made the wait a little more bearable. Prices for the Apples;gourds;& prepared food at the grill was reasonable. There were antique cars being displayed today and apparently a very well know BlueGrass band which kept us there for well over an hour. They were great. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable day. We will be back again next year! Only suggestion (I wish there were a few more picnic tables to eat at) read more

We just went this past weekend with some of our extended family (including our 8 month old daughter and a 4 year old dog) for the Harvest Festival. We found the whole day to be a great value. We opted for the $20 PYO bag of apples and it was enough apples for 2 apple crisps, a quart of apple butter, some apple sauce for pork chops and plenty for just munching. We also sampled some of the food at the Corn Roast and the ice cream shack: the "chipwich" ice cream sandwich was a great bargain at $3.50 and big enough to share and the butternut squash and cranberry bisque, sausage and pepper sub, roasted corn, and cheese burgers also got rave reviews from the rest of my party. The cider donuts were some of the best I've ever had and were a great pre-PYO treat before we got on the tractor to the orchard. We went on a day with great weather and the whole farm was crowded but never seemed unorganized or like the lines weren't moving. There were also plenty of fun places to use as backdrops for photos of the baby and the pup. read more

I have visited this farm every fall for the past 6 years or so. We love this place for several reasons. It is huge. the apple orchard is amazing. SO many apples and you can take a fun tractor driven hay ride out to pick or pick ones closer to the pay stand. Apples were plentiful this year. $20 for small bag to fill and i probably took home at least 20 apples of all sizes. $35 for larger bag. There is a live band that plays on the weekend, fresh cider donuts and cider. There is a small petting zoo for kids which is nice (pay $1 to go in and more for food to feed). I did not see the horse drawn hay ride this year:( Did they take it away?? There is farm stand too. We did not try the bistro. I have to say i'm a tiny bit disappointed in the development of that little restaurant in the middle of this farm. It took away from that rustic feel of a farm, and seemed a tad more commercial. and the items in the barn/store were not as impressive as the old, smaller barn. More produce, but honestly, some of it was marked "california". i can get that in the grocery store for less $. I do love this farm and will return as it's a tradition and we still had a great time. read more
