This place has gotten better since my previous review years ago. I can tell new management has revamped it and made it an enjoyable place to eat again. The staff is efficient and friendly. We usually see the same waiters/waitresses each time we go, and I've had a positive experience with each one we get. The food itself seems to be cooked more properly than before. Before, it felt like it took so long to receive your food or beverage. Also, when it did come, it was barely warm from sitting for so long in the back. Now, the food comes out in a timely manner, and I can tell it's fresh and hasn't been sitting long. I'm not the only one enjoying this place again as there seems to be quite a crowd each time we go. The wait time is never that bad, though. Plus, their food deals are pretty good. If you backed off this place, I suggest giving it another try. It may surprise you. I've been coming back, kind of waiting to see if and when I'll experience the old, terrible Applebee's again, but so far, so good. Still not 5 stars, but still a good bang for buck. I can tell there's a bit more care in this place now than there were years ago. read more

We picked up food here for the first time tonight & my Son's fries were missing so I called the restaurant. Took a bite out of my cheeseburger that was already missing the bacon and it was raw. This was a very clean restaurant,good and filling appertizers.All the food was good except the pasta dish.The service was good until we where checking out we advised the cashier that the pasta was dry and not tasty at all. HOWEVER she didn't offer to remove from our check. I checked out at the table with split ticket.After giving tip and accepting my card. I went back into the terminal and saw a credit for $10. The waitress after recieving our monies and tips she reruns the order and took the 10 as a additional tip. My party was so upset they said forget it maybe she needes the money. I think the reviews have had an impact, I had given up on this location all together but then that's where dad wanted to go eat so can't say no :) was very surprised at the turn around with the service and it was still slow but the taller server with the bun...her name escapes me :/ but since going with my dad and it being pleasant I tried again with a gal pal again and that went well too. I'm hoping I didn't just get lucky these last few times because of this particular server . It's back on my list of eats in waynesboro, but I still have that feeling it could be bad so if happens again I may be ditching for good read more

Unbelievably poor service. I went in at 4:00pm, so they weren't busy. All of the employees appeared to be "socializing " and not at all interested in the customers. Someone did bring me a drink but after that I was completely ignored for twenty minutes. It became obvious I would be waiting a long time I decided to go elsewhere. I left five dollars for the diet soft drink and left. Very poor management. I didn't even bother to ask for a manager because I'm sure they're aware how bad their service is. Poor management, critically understaffed and bad attitudes with staff. Visited the restaurant on Sunday 3/14/21 only to learn that there is a 1 hour wait. In fact, one customer voiced her frustration that it took an hour to get her meal after the long wait to get a table. Indeed we are in a pandemic but it all falls on management. We went across the street to Golden Coral and got a table immediately. Just shows that organization and structure can make the difference. Maybe Applebee's can learn from Golden Coral. I don't know where to start really. I like the atmosphere of this place. It looks like a place at which I would enjoy eating and drinking. But every time I leave I feel like I didn't get my money's worth. The food is bland and seems like it is microwaved rather than cooked. Many of the items have too much salt for my taste. On the positive side, they have started carrying microbrews instead of the big conglomerate massed produced beer (swill) that they used to exclusively carry. Anyway, it's not someplace I would choose to go on my own. I'd only consider going if strong-armed by the family. Or if someone else is paying! This is a restaurant chain, so it isn't something for the Foodies wanting locally sourced ingredients & fancy dishes made from scratch, served in an eclectic unique environment. That said, sometimes you just want to eat out & not get too serious about it, you know what I mean? This is a place to bring the family where everybody can find something on the menu that will probably float their boat, with the restaurant being pleasantly-sized & not a tiny fish bowl. One of my gripes with many local restaurants is how tiny they are. I don't like feeling like I'm in a fish bowl being gawked at while I eat, lol. We have had many pleasant experiences here, with nice & attentive wait staff, & good food. We have tried several dishes, with favs being their french onion soup (if I add salt), & their spinach artichoke dip (yum!), & their pasta dishes are pretty flavorful, too. We learned a tip from another patron who said to ask for an extra little tub of your fav sauce on the side, if you prefer it more saucy. Everybody has different tastes, and while some people prefer lightly sauced pasta, others want it juiced-up. I prefer to ask for the sauce ahead of time & have it handy just in case, while the food is still hot & I don't have to risk the waitress being too busy to return with it fast enough. All in all, when we aren't in a fussy mood & just want to eat & run instead of making a special event out of it, this is a frequent go-to place. read more

We have given this location way too many chances. And now we have boycotted the Waynesboro location all together. We drive to Staunton if we choose to dine with Applebee's. One occasion my food, which came out 30 mins after my husbands, was placed in front of another bar patron, then apparently it became an open invitation to casually grab fries off the plate as people walked by, after pointing this out to the bartender, she then placed the SAME plate in front of me. Another occasion, walked in to sit at the bar and the bartender loudly announces she didn't want any more customers in her section. One more visit, we ordered appetizers and it took so long for just those, that a couple who entered and sat after us had already began eating their entrees. Once our food finally came out it was COLD. My husband ordered one of the meals that is served on a skillet that is typically still sizzling when it's brought out. The butter on his food wasn't even melted! We paid for our drinks, left and went to Fish N Pig. Have not returned once since then. AWFUL. read more

I wish there was a no star option. On January 31, 2019.Service was incredibly slow. We waited 25 minutes for drinks- 3 sodas, a beer, and one mixed drink. Should of known then it was not getting better. Appetizer came out cold as well as food. Manager came and said she would send out more fries because the ones that came with the meal were cold. No apologies were made or explanation. I am not a complainer and I have worked as a server so I understand sometimes things happen but it wasn't just one thing. Spend your money and time somewhere else. The staff is the only thing ok here. I had their french onion soup, which was heavy with grease and bland. Their "quesadilla burger" had so much sauce on it that it was all you could taste. It was this creamy spicy overpowering sauce that completely drenched the whole inside of the "burger" and ruined it. Also, I asked for 'pink' and it was slightly over cooked. Their "sweet tea" is weak, not sweet, and tastes like it was made with dish water. Husband's chicken ciabatta sandwich had a similar sauce on it, and it just wasn't very good. Their onion rings are thick, the breading on them is bland, and there is not much onion in them. Eating an onion ring tastes similar to eating a spoonful of raw breadcrumbs. Never going again. read more

Came here for lunch with my family. We had great service here and the standard as far as Applebee's food goes. It was hot when it came out and everyone's order was right. I got the fiesta lime chicken & it was really tasty! We got honey BBQ wings for an appetizer and they were covered in yummy sauce, hint and fresh when they arrived. They also given you a huge portion of wings for an appetizer. Everyone else was happy with the food and if we come this way again we would definitely come back! read more

Well it's sad to say my review will be similar to others. Service here has declined since our last visit. The person who originally greeted us after as if it were a burden to seat us with over half there tables empty. After our visit I know why they were empty. We got refills right before the check. Then the crazy new table computer stopped advertising to ask if we wanted a refill. There are too many good places to eat close by to consider eating at this location again. read more

Atmosphere was okay, didn't expect good karaoke but we were just passing through town. Service was excellent, our server (wish we could remember his name) was on top of his game. But the steak I had was about 50% grizzle throughout. Too tired and too hungry to send it back but regretted eating it later.... trust me. Fully loaded mashed potatoes usually means the stuff is mixed in, not just tossed on top. At least is has been everywhere else. This Applebee's was great! So over the years, I've gone to various Applebee's with mixed reviews. It seemed as though Applebee's in general had gone downhill over the past few years, and my husband and I had decided not to eat there anymore. Someone gave us a gift card, so we decided to try it again. This visit was our first to the Waynesboro location, and we will definitely go back. There were some new and tasty menu items since our last visit. They also had a kids eat free night because of Halloween (usually weekly on Tuesdays). My husband had a burger, and I had salmon. Yum! The service was great, and we got seated immediAtley even on the busy Friday night. read more
