We went here for lunch today to try their 2 for $25 menu. It was only 3 different items two of which were steak (6oz) only difference was one had garlic one plain and there was a chicken dish as well. We both decided on the garlic sirloin with mashed potatoes and broccoli not really expecting much but we were definitely wrong other than the long wait for our food it was the best steak we have had in a long while out at a restaurant especially at a super price like that. The only reason this isn't 1 star is because we were greeted at the door by a very kind happy face who seated us quickly. Then. Ah. Down hill. My husband and I are both middle aged. We asked to be seated at a high top in the bar area. We were offered a booth... ok. We ordered water and asked for a drink menu. We got out waters and waited and waited and waited. Finally were asked about our drink orders. Then we were both asked for ID for the adult beverages. Ok. I give the waitress my ID. she said she had to take it to the back to verify it with her manager??!! She could not give me a reason why. She did not look twice at my husband's ID. Why single me out? I took my mom to lunch here a week ago & we were a little confused after walking in. Nobody greeted us or told us to seat ourselves. We went ahead & found a place on our own. It did not look busy at all. Plenty of open seats. And it took a while before someone came over. I requested the garlic green beans with my entree instead of fries. The plate came out & had fries on the side anyway. I mentioned this & the waitress did bring out my green beans. They didn't have a garlic taste, but that's okay. We placed a large order for a staff celebration. The service was prompt and friendly. Kimberly met me outside with our food as soon as I pulled up. The food was prepared exactly as ordered. We had all the correct salad dressings, sauces, etc. A couple hours later, Kimberly called me to see how the food was and to make sure everything was correct with the order. I've been to this Applebee's multiple times. Tonight's service was pathetic. The bartender, in a position to make serious money given the seats at the bar, was uninterested and spent more time texting than serving customers. As a former bartender, her demeanor behind the bar was laughable which is why Applebees has the reputation it does. Of more importance is the poor excuse of a floor manager who failed to correct the behavior. That's the person who should be fired. read more

We stopped at this Applebee's for a bite to eat on Jun. 8th. When we walked in, the hostess told us from the beginning that the wait would be 20-30 minute due to being short staffed. We still waited and were sat in the time range she quoted. The gentleman that was our server was "humping it" i.e. he was working hard for having several tables along with ours. The customer service was top notch despite the lack of staff which was impressive (as someone who's done many customer service jobs in my life). As for the food, it was good and what we expected. We had a pleasant meal without too long of a wait I would certainly recommend this franchise just on customer service alone. read more

Worse place to eat ever. I came here like two months ago they burn my ribs. Today tops it off we got there around 2:10 pm. After just 3 hours the floors looked like they never get vacuumed. The waiter was clueless. He messed up our hot wings forgot our blue cheese. My steak was raw. The manager took forever to get to us and they were not very busy. He took off the steak but because the waiter messed up the wings we got charged for two appetizers. In a rush to leave didn't notice the mess up bc we were in a rush to see a movie at 3:55 that we still missed anyways bc of waiting to pay the bill. We we're passing thru Staunton on a road trip. We went at 5:30 on a Tues. evening. Had Brandi as our server--she was awesome! Had $5 happy hour margaritas & glasses of wine. Both were very good & larger than excepted. Had an Asian chicken salad & a grilled chicken breast meal. Both were tasty. Only criticisms would be the salad required more dressing, which was gladly supplied on request, and the grilled chicken was a bit dry. Otherwise we were very pleased with the food, the price & most of all with Brandi, our server. Bravo! read more

I have never eaten such terrible food in my entire life. Service was ok. Took a little bit longer than I would have liked to get my meal, but the food was so bad. I got the grilled chicken caprese. The onions on top were supposed to be cooked but were raw. The chicken..omg the chicken. I don't know what was wrong with it. It had the exact same texture as the raw onions. It was crunchy. I think it wasn't cooked all the way. I'm not sure. I've never eaten chicken so tough and crunchy. It was so disgusting. I tried to move it out of the way to eat the tomatoes with melted motzerella but even those were gross. The cheese tasted like nothing. It looked good but had no taste. I ordered through Door Dash and paid with my debit card. My Door Dash driver texted me stating that the manager said that my order had not been paid for. I called the Staunton Applebee's and the girl that finally answered the phone said that my order had not been paid for. I assured her that I had a confirmation and that the amount had already been taken from my bank account. She sighed heavily and told me to hold for the manager. Ordered takeout at Applebee's in Stanton on March 1,,, afternoon shift, ordered over $60 worth of food and when I got home some of it wasn't even there which was bad enough but when I reported it the manager found it amusing and suggested she send me a $25 refund on a card which I never got after calling again I was told it was in the mail it's still never came had to get corporate involved and it took me 31 days to finally get my gift card but at least they sent me one for 50.. was thinking about saving the card and giving it as a gift to someone I don't really like read more

Stopped by the Staunton location on a Thursday (2/27/20) and would give 1/4 star if possible, waited over half hour just for a drink, when the food arrived, the potatoes were cold, and as I should have expected from this chain, meal was not what was advertised-it was barely mediocre. Would rate a 0 if I could! Food was horrible except for the mozzarella sticks. The 3 cheese chicken penne is usually my favorite at Applebee's but was not good at all. The taste was horribly off. My husband ordered the unlimited riblets and fries that come with coleslaw. The server brought his food without the coleslaw. When we asked the server for the coleslaw he said they were out of coleslaw but he could sub a different side. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be standard protocol to offer a sub without being asked where your missing food was? The manager was walking around but I never saw him asking people how their food was...I'm assuming he already knew and didn't want to hear the complaints. FYI-not usually a complainer about servers or restaurants, but I would want to be warned about the horribleness of this restaurant. read more

Bartender was horrible. I was there today at about 5 PM. It wasn't too busy. I asked the bartender who had no personality if they had Jack Daniel's Fire. He said yes then served regular Jack. Blech... I said this isn't jack fire he said we don't have that. Why would he say they have it then? He served my salad and entree together. Who does that? The steak was tiny too. We were very pleased with this location until the night took a turn. We came in, ordered a couple of beers and then decided to get appetizers. At about 8 they started moving tables to turn into "club bee's". We decided to have a few more beers and watch the karaoke embarrassment ensue. Only to find out that we were only allowed 4 beers...per manager rules. So, the bartender went to ask her manager if she could serve us another beer....she got "the good to go". (I understand this because I worked in the industry for 10 years) My problem was that there were people there before us being served many more than us....and never ate. We were clearly enjoying ourselves and not being trouble or a problem, at all. The manager in a pink jacket came behind the bar and said "IS IT INAPPROPRIATE THAT I OFFERED HIM A KINKY VODKA JUST TO SING?!" Really? With that. We love Applebee's when that's what we have....but we always enjoy ourselves and tip well....because we always stay within walking distance. We will not come to this one again.
