Dear Customer Service, I am writing to share my disappointment with my recent experiences at the Waynesboro Applebee's. About two months ago, I placed my usual order--the 2 for $25 special with two Fiesta Lime Chicken entrees and an appetizer. The Fiesta Lime Chicken is my favorite menu item, and it is normally excellent. Unfortunately, on that visit, both chicken entrees were extremely dry and hard. They were so overcooked that I couldn't eat my dinner at all. The only part of the meal I was able to eat was the appetizer. Although I don't like complaining, I felt I needed to call the restaurant because I had paid for a meal that was inedible. The manager I spoke with was very kind and apologized for the experience. She told me that the next time I ordered, I would receive a credit, which I appreciated. Tonight, about two months later, I called the restaurant to redeem that credit and place another order. I also mentioned that I hoped the meal would be prepared correctly this time, given what had happened previously. The manager told me she would get someone on the line to take my order, but instead I was placed on hold for over 10 minutes without anyone assisting me. This second experience was just as disappointing as the first. While I understand that restaurants can be busy, I feel that, given the circumstances and the promise that had been made to resolve my previous issue, my call should have been handled with greater care. read more

In the heart of Waynesboro, parking isn't an issue, mainly because nobody seems to want to park there. I showed up at 10:00 pm, an hour before closing, blissfully unaware of the culinary disaster awaiting me. Thank goodness for our waitress Kaylie; without her, this would have been a total catastrophe. The walls, adorned with Waynesboro's sports history, were the highlight of the evening. Things started off promising with some decent chips and dips, but it all went downhill from there. I ordered a full rack of ribs with fries and coleslaw, while my wife opted for chicken tenders and fries--simple enough, right? Wrong. The kitchen staff made it painfully clear they wanted to go home. My ribs were as dry as the Sahara, the fries were cold, and the coleslaw was MIA. My wife's tenders were okay, but her fries tasted like cardboard. The two Shark bowls that were supposed to come with gummies were more like a cruel joke. Not only did the gluten warning on the menu make a mysterious disappearance, but so did the gummies. Apparently, the sharks got them before we did! Kaylie was great, keeping our drinks filled, but if you come by 10 pm, their menu was practically non-existent. So, ribs it was--ribs I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. so I normally don't eat applebee's but I was in the mood for ribs and this was the only place close that sold them. I should have waited; the ribs were horrible; cleary they were sitting under a heat lamp or something. the meat fell off the bone, but they were dry as dust. the garlic mash potato'es had zero garlic, I think they just sprinkled garlic powder on them. I ordered three entrees and one appetizer totaling $73 and there was something wrong with everything except for one dish. However, the most egregious of them all was the four cheese, mac and cheese with honey pepper chicken. Take a look at what they advertise vs what they served me. There was absolutely no sauce or cheese on my pasta. No. And no, it wasn't buried underneath the pasta either. Not so much a fan. The bar staff are far from friendly. Admittedly they were rather busy, but still a hello would suffice. All bar staff that I've known have greeted you upon seeing you. Even when they know it may be a while until they can get around to serving you. The food is not to my taste. Very little for a veggie to eat. Some places are willing to make small changes to a dish. Not here, it's their way or the highway. Thus I was saddled with a crappy appetizer for a main. However the place is popular with the population of the 'boro. Have not been to Applebees for years and we decided to go again as it was close by and too hot to go somewhere further away. I was in total shock by the high price of food for what you get. I got a ribeye steak and wife got a sirloin steak. Still the same lousy mashed potatoes that were cold and same old broccoli. My steak taste like salty chewing gum and half of it was fat and grizzle. I paid for a gallon of lemonade, and they delivered 4 cups of lemonade- the delivery driver said that they didn't have the container for a gallon. So I drove to Applebees and they said they didn't have containers so I asked for a refund- 2 minutes later they came from the back with a gallon of lemonade. Stopped for a quick dinner and sat at the bar. Leeann was the bartender and waited on my brother in law and myself. She let us take a photo of a Blue Lagoon cocktail she was making for another customer. Leeann got our orders in quickly and efficiently and was hospitable. She's got great customer service skills. Ordered mixed drinks and there was basically no alcohol in the drinks. Steak was ordered medium rare and it comes out like a completely overcooked piece of shoe leather. What a huge disappointment, food was no less than utterly disgusting. Worse yet bar/wait staff were certainly aware that food was far less than on par yet had no issue with serving it. Bar staff was lackadaisical at best, seemed very disinterested, very few people seated at bar yet service was extremely slow to the point of nonexistent, yet had no problem with standing in corner talking to other staff whilst customers at bar and seated at tables could not be provided tableware, condiments or drinks. Working at a facility nearby, been here for lunch twice. First time had a burger, it was slightly better than "fair". Had some type of crispy taco appetizer that was pretty tasty. Second visit I had the pasta with chicken tenders in it. It was kinda of like a microwave t.v dinner. I do not recommend it. The tenders were tossed on top, dry, like an after thought. I've never been a fan of Applebee's. When a new one opened in the area we decided to give it a try though. After all, it was newly decorated and should be clean and inviting. We were finally able to give it a try. (Suffice it to say there isn't much to choose from around here and lines were long at first.) We have tried it twice now and won't go back. As I said, Applebee's, well, corporate in general, isn't my idea of a good place to eat and relax... I like local flavor. This Applebee's though, has to be at the bottom of the barrel of all Applebee's establishments. The greeters are so unfocused on their job that you feel like you are interrupting them. Already, the "new" feels sticky and there is a mildew smell throughout. Our food, on the most recent visit was just horrible. If we were true food critics, we would have sent it back to the kitchen in disgust. I had a talaipia fillet that was to be served with steamed veggies of the day and rice pilaf. The fillet was smothered in some sort of cheese sauce (not mentioned on the menu) and topped with greasy old bread crumbs--also not mentioned. It was also very salty! Too salty for my taste. The rice pilaf was cold and dry and I doubt the veggies spent more than two seconds in the steamer. They were cold and certainly not fresh. Our sweet ice tea looked cloudy, though it was acceptable. My partner order shrimp fettucine--floating in butter and too hot to consume for at least 10 minutes. Service was better than our first visit there and I realize it's not the server's fault that the food is bad. Come on folks... if you expect to have customers you are going to have to do better than this. read more

I have some issues with this location. There is a change in the last few months where you are met at the door by someone who asks "Has anyone greeted you yet?". We've had 4 people approach us in one visit, and not one has actually greeted us, just inquired about anyone else having some so. The hostess stand layout makes it so it is often unattended, so it can be fairly awkward standing there for a prolonged period of time. There is also some bizarre practice of having to " prepare" every table, again leaving the hostess stand unattended. Invariably wherever they have placed our highchairs is not where we need them so there is an awkward period of shuffling chairs and children while a hostess stands and stares at us. Recently we had a very bad experience. The hostess Paulina was simply awful. She was rude, making comments about how the restaurant was busy because "all these people bring all these kids out for a free meal". She was audibly huffing and puffing at us trying to get situated, but couldn't just hand me the menus. She kept staring at us the entire meal. The food is average, though I've had some that is pretty bad. I had some sort of chicken and shrimp served on a skillet with potatoes. The potatoes were inedible, burned so bad that they were like charcoal dust. There was " no manager available" and no attempt made to correct the problem. The one bright spot that keeps us returning, Annette. She is a fantastic server, and goes out of her way to make sure your order is correct. read more

Went here last week. Usually I'm not a big Applebee's fan (or chain restaurant fan in general), but their brunch burger was to die for! It comes with a fried egg on top. The others at my table ordered steak and veggies and a chicken tender platter and they seemed to like their food also. Only downside is that the server did not seem too knowledgable about the beers they offered. Otherwise, I had a good experience and wouldn't mind stopping by Applebee's the next time we are in Waynesboro. read more

Although I haven't always had great food or experiences here, they appear to have really worked on updating their interior and service within the last year since having been here last.
