The food is what is expect from a chain sports bar type restaurant. Satisfying without really standing out. I was in the mood for wings but their were a bit pricey for me and when you add $5+ for a basket of fries, we'll it was a turnoff for me. What I decided to do was order their chicken tenders basket which not only came with six modest sized tenders, it came with fries and a small container of cole slaw for the same price as just 10 wings! The tenders were moist and not stringy...a real trick for many restaurants who overcook breast meat tenders. They did a very good job here. If you are in the mood for wings, do consider the tenders basket which is a better value for the money. I did want to mention that Chrissy, my server was excellent. Friendly, courteous, professional and attentive and not at all intrusive. She seemed to read my mind and was there to give me a fresh beverage, ask if i needed an extra napkin, which i did, and get me atake out box when i was ready to check out. I want to be able to give a good review bc the staff really does TRY but we've given this place two chances just to be disappointed worse the second time around. First time it seemed like there was one person at the bar and one server, with very few patrons. Initially she was extremely attentive and then when food came out we felt forgotten. No offer to get us second drinks when we were almost done with the first round when our app was served, and then a huge delay to bring the second round after bringing dinner. We noticed the waitress in the back on her phone. Which during dead time, I get it. But please check on your table. Second time I had a birthday coupon and we wanted convenience of going up the road from the house. It seemed busy but well staffed. Last time we were welcomed to see ourselves at the high top table, this time the girl told us to wait so she could help a patron pick out a shirt. Which would've been fine but it quickly turned into a 10 minute yes, no, maybe, next one, etc. Eventually someone else saw us waiting and sat us. Food took extraordinarily long. The waitress was extremely apologetic, and always checked on us for drinks. She seemed to be the only one running around, so much so that she went a little MIA. Totally not her fault. I decided to stop by to grab something to take home. The bartender said hello right away and was very attentive. She helped me by answering my drink & food questions. I wish I could remember her name (it was June 25 2024 @ 8pm) lol. I ordered the Nola Chicken bowl with a ranch dressing on the side. I loved it, the ingredients were fresh, colorful and truly delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed every bite. I also order the white sangria which was refreshing on a hot day. I was never impressed by the food in previous years. This visit changed my mind completely! I loved my food & cocktails and will return. A big thanks to the bartender, she is the reason I stayed. The food was good. I didn't particularly like my barbecue chicken tacos but they were still good. The barbecue sauce was VERY light (I could not see or taste barbecue but I'm going to assume it was a drizzle). My mom got the Cajun shrimp pasta and really enjoyed it. For an appetizer we had the smash burgers, which where very satisfying. The presentation of all the dishes was good. My mom ordered a peach tea. We were slightly surprised to see regular tea with just canned peaches dropped in haha. The service was a bit slow however there were also only 2 active servers and then a host who was cleaning. Everyone was hospitable. The boothes each had their own TVs and they were actually showing entertaining channels! My mom and I had a great laugh. We went there Friday Nov 8th and waited a few minutes as there nobody at the front desk to be seated. Finally a lady came to the front but to give someone a pick up order and ignored us and the single person in front of us also waiting to be seated. After more waiting another older lady finally came and seated the individual in front of us....and never came back. Close to 10 minutes at this point so we left and went to the Mexican food restaurant around the corner where we were immediately seated and had great service. Come on GT! If you cant field a team for a Friday when there is not even a crowd you are going to lose customers...which you have. read more

I just had the unfortunate experience of eating at the Greene turtle in Hagerstown MD. It was on a quiet NON-game night so I thought it would be a good choice for date night. My boyfriend started with a beer and I had a non-alcoholic spritzer. We planned to split the Ultimate Nachos as an appetizer. 30 minutes after we ordered, the Nachos finally arrived. They had extremely sparse toppings and were completely dried out. Even though we were both hungry, we left more than half of the chips behind. More than 35 minutes later, our meals came out, boneless hot wings and a Chesapeake burger with sweet potato fries. Any fast food joint would have produced better tasting food! My burger was dripping liquid and grease. It had no flavor, not even salt and pepper. The lettuce was slimy and texture of the meat was repulsive. I literally had to spit it into my napkin and make my way to the bathroom to vomit. My boyfriend said that Chili's wings are far superior to what he ordered, and the best part of his meal were the celery sticks. Our waitress never came back to ask how the food was or offer me another drink. After we finished dining, we waited 40 minutes for our waitress to return to our table. The bill came to $72.55. The waitress did take my burger off the bill after I told her told her about quality issues. The entire dining experience from end to end was a huge disappointment. I had known Greene Turtle to have a good overall reputation. After tonight I'm convinced that nearly any other restaurant or fast food establishment would have offered better food and service. read more

So I was doing a dinner and a movie night with my daughter. We walked in at 8 and it was slow. Host sat us with a smile. Server greeted us quickly with a smile. We got our drinks and then placed our order. I ordered a med cheeseburger and my daughter got boneless wings. All good so far. The food took at least 20 mins and my burger was well done and surprisingly the patty was very small and thin. Surprising for the $11 price. Nothing special at all and very dry. My daughter liked her boneless wings but sauce was very light. So in recap service was nice but food and prep time was lacking. Won't go back anytime soon. read more

I haven't been here in awhile and boy has the quality of food dropped. Very disappointing. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. Part of the lettuce was dirty, the salad wasn't tossed with the dressing like Caesar dressing usually is and part of the chicken wasn't fully cooked. My husband ordered spicy fish tacos. It had a tray for three tacos but they only served two. The fish pieces were very small and the majority of the taco was slaw. My friends and I stayed in a lakehouse in West Virginia, and wanted to catch the World Cup final on the way home. We called a couple bars closer to the lake house .. and they didn't even know what the World Cup was. Thankfully, The Greene Turtle was on the way home! So if you read my other Greene Turtle reviews, you'll understand that my friends and I were once HUGE fans of the Turtle... Way back when they were good dive bars with decent food and not just a cheesy chain... Since they ruined the bars and became a "brand", I don't go to them nearly as much. BUT, thanks to Covid, and everyone's collective inability to actually perform work for a reasonable salary and keep the smaller bars (with better food, mind you) actually open, I've been forced to come here on this particular day. I asked for a soda twice and never got it, though the third time ended up being the proverbial "charm" as they say. Yay for me i guess... I ordered the shrimp tacos and they came out with two tacos sitting in a standard three taco holder... I've ordered many tacos in my life... I've seen this holder many times in my life... And I've never seen a restaurant put TWO tacos in it... WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE GREENE TURTLE!?!! I haven't been to a Turtle in probably 6 months or more. They seem to get worse every time I come back. I would say they're clinging to the rim but most definitely circling the drain at this point... Especially this one. Which is sad... I want them to succeed... Because they used to be so cool... And because I'm a mug owner at this one and others... Well. This might be one hell of a review. So, we decided to stop for dinner....we both wanted chicken tenders because they really are pretty fantastic. We were seated promptly and greeted fairly quickly and kindly by our "server" and her "trainee". Now to be fair, I'm all about people learning and giving them a fair chance. But this guy sucked. BADLY. We ordered 2 chicken tender baskets, the hog hammers, and I got a Build-Your-Own-Burger. 1stly. They wrote nothing down. NOTHING. If you're starting out brand new, write it down please? Just so everyone knows, this is what I ordered. An Angus burger, medium-well, with cheddar, mozzarella, lettuce, mushrooms, onion straws and a side of mayo. WHAT I GOT. An Angus burger, well, with mozzarella and lettuce. 2ndly. When I told him that I had ordered mushrooms and onion straws and went to give him my plate back, a chip fell off the plate. Which he then PICKED UP WITH HIS HANDS FROM THE GROUND BEFORE TAKING MY PLATE AND WALKING AWAY. Wtf?!?! 3rdly. When he came back with my burger, it had MAYBE 5-10 mushrooms on it. They had to drop the onion straws in the fryer. As he went to walk away again, I said about my mayo. I received an, "Oh, my bad" and he grabbed a mayo container from another table. By the time my onion straws were done, my burger was almost gone so I put a pinchful of the ridiculously huge basket they brought out on the 1/4 burger I had left. Needless to say our server, if she's training, should have been doing just that. TRAINING. Not leaving him to do his own thing, which was obviously pretty f**king terrible. Basic things, like picking food off the the damn floor, are pretty simple. I hope this guy eithers shapes up or they can him...because it was terrible, terrible service. 11/28/2015 We love the GT but this afternoon didn't turn out well from the start. I know it's a sports bar but it was very awkward to watch a game..and we sat in the very middle. We asked our neighbors if they were watching any game in particular and they said no. We asked the waitress to change it, but she couldn't? She came back 5 times to check on us before we ordered food. We asked for the manager and as soon as manager came out, the game was changed and food was ordered. This is the absolute worst experience I have had, period. The service was no better then pathetic. Slow, inefficient and just simply poor are the most complimentary words I can choose. We sat for over 30 minutes waiting for our food during an appropriately small lunch crowd, on hind site. The server did not realize that it was morning, obviously over worked, most likely due to the poor management. The couple that arriving 10 minutes after us received their food, we decided that this was enough waiting. After getting up to leave, and obviously unhappy with lack of any service, the greeter asked if everything was good, "No" was answer. I asked for the manager. I again waited for 3 minutes for the manager to come to the front. This was the end of this visit. The manager did not get his or her pathetic self to the front to help a customer that was beyond angry. Very very very disappointed. We were in the area for a football game and first went to BWW but they had a long wait and couldn't actually give us a time of when we might be seated plus their staff was rude. We decided to try The Greene Turtle for a late lunch. I called ahead to see how long the wait was because it was a Sunday and many NFL games were on. The hostess (I didn't get her name) was so nice. She asked how many were in my party and when we would arrive. I gave the information and when I arrived, the table was ready for my party of 6. We asked to have a specific game put on and it was done immediately. Our server was Mercedez and she was AWESOME!!!! Turns out her sister works there too (didn't catch her name either) and they look identical that we actually got them mixed up and asked Mercedez' sister for refills. They both took care of us and were so hardworking, polite, accommodating and quick even though they were packed and seemed short staffed. The food was so good too. Large sizes, hot and tasted amazing!!!! This was such a great experience and if we lived closer, we would visit more often. read more

In fairness to the restaurant, we didn't arrive until almost 8:30--but it was not a good experience. We arrived to find no one at the host station. We waited--approximately 10 minutes. When the host arrived, he offered no apology- he simply asked "table or booth. Now we waited again. It was just over 12 minutes until our waiter showed up. He was very apologetic and was a good server. Unfortunately, he was the only bright spot in an otherwise unremarkable experience. The food, while hot and not over or under cooked, was essentailly tasteless. The Host returned to the table later to see how we werer doing and was equally ambivalent. I can't imagine that I will return and I hope if my server from that night reads this post he will take my advice to find a job at a restaurant who cares for their customers as well as he does. read more
