Service: Honestly not impressed with this location. When I walk into a restaurant I expect to be acknowledged almost immediately. Granted it was pretty busy the day I went for lunch but two employees were standing at the counter just looking at the computer didn't even care to look up once. I can't believe there aren't more reviews for this place, especially since the newest one is from like 2012. Well, I guess I'll be the "update" This is my local Applebee's, and I visit it somewhat regularly...particularly for half off appetizers and twofers. I'm giving it 4 stars almost for nostalgic reasons, but also because I almost always have a good meal here...and with a chain restaurant like this, that's hard to do. Our last visit, I got some sliders for half off, and they were actually pink in the middle. SLIDERS. At a CHAIN restaurant. Needless to say I was impressed they didn't hockey puck the thing. I think that's the key to enjoying chains like this. It's a chain, have low standards! They're mega cheap, have tons of deals, and generally have the same level of quality (which can range to damn good if you hit the right day). This place has gotten more and more popular over the years, and multiple times I've come in here late night just to have to wait 20 minutes for a table. If you're going to Applebees, I doubt a review on Yelp is going to make or break it for you, I mean chances are you probably already know what you're getting into, but this specific restaurant gets Scott E's restaurant chain of approval, and you can rest easy you at least won't get horrible food. read more

I know this is a casual dining restaurant, but I have to write a review and explain my experience this evening. I have a food allergy and our waitress Laury D. and the manager, Darren were truly exceptional. They brought out a food allergy menu and reviewed everything with me. They were genuinely concerned and went above and beyond what I would have ever expected. My food of course was really good. Honestly my wife and I just got some burgers but they were really good. And I have to say for the price I was truly surprised. For a little more than the cost of fast food we had a tasty meal. Applebee's is Applebee's, let's be real. You get what you pay for, and for the most part, it's pretty much the same no matter what location you visit. With that being said, the service is something on which I can comment, and this Applebee's does not exactly excel in this department. I came here with my sister and my cousin for a night of food and a much needed catch-up. We were seated at a table by the bar, which should've been convenient when it came to expedited service. Wrong. Our drinks took a bit of time to come to us (like, really?), as did the food. The typical "How is everything?" that one receives from their waiter or waitress never happened, and when our waiter did eventually show up with check, it took him forever to process the payment. What happened?!?!?! I'm usually a big fan of Applebee's, but tonight......I don't know. 30 - 40 minute wait, but that's a given. All of these restaurants in this area are like this and that's not my complaint. We finally sat down and the waiter took our order for drinks and entrées. The food came out in a timely manner, but guess what? No utensils! As a matter of fact no tables in out area had utensils! Lol. And our dishes were far from being finger food. My wife ordered a steak dinner and asked for it medium raw. It came out well done and hard to chew. It was kind of hard to get my waiter to complain about her dish but after a while it was taken away for a proper steak. I had to eat in front of her, in which I really don't like to do but I was really hungry and I didn't want it to go cold. My dish? I ordered a shrimp scampi linguini. I was expecting a shrimp scampi linguini. My dish came out with a splash of red sauce in it which changed the whole taste of the dish entirely. When the manager came with my wife's proper steak he asked me about my dish. I complained like I said above. He showed me in the menu about the sauce that I complained about. Some big fancy name. I'm not a chef, so I don't know these big fancy words, but if your main title says "shrimp scampi linguini" that's what your expecting! I'm not buying the story that was given to me. I'm not knocking the waiter because none of this was his fault, but I noticed that all of the waiters seems tired and overworked and still running around like crazy. Came here with two friends and was seated. After waiting 25 minutes with no one coming over for a drink order and asking not ONE but two servers for a waiter, to no avail, we got up and left. Not to mention, getting the attention of the servers was nearly impossible because they were wearing earbuds and/or standing around talking to their coworkers - when you did manage to get their attention, they would make eye contact and blatantly ignore you. I am very disappointed as this used to be a great place to hang out get good food and a few beers and hang out with friends. However the lack of quality check really bothers me. The food and service is not on par and sad because it used to be when they first opened this location. The wait staff is running ragged to bring everything out while they also have to clean and prepare the tables and wait for a bartender to make the drinks. Which brings me to another major problem the drinks are really a disappointment. They are micro managed to marks on the bottle and auto stop on half a shot for most of the mixed drinks. So this restaurant cannot handle a party of 10 people. They cannot move any tables to accommodate their customers because of so called rules from corporate. On top of that they close the waiting room and store tables and chairs in that space and make their customers wait outside In The cold or in their cars when there is sufficient space to social distance and wait comfortably. The general manager does not have to do any thinking on his own because he has all of the outdated rules from corporate established 8 months ago. Believe me the only reason to go to this place is so we can spend some time with friends, it is certainly not for the food. read more

We have a habit of coming here as a last resort when out of food or in need of a late-night fix. It's progressively gotten worse over the years. For starters at least twice in the past 6 months we've gone in with just the two of us and been met with an hour-long wait due to the entire restaurant shutting down for UFC fights. Once, we even placed a reservation and they didn't hold it, with the excuse of 'People are watching the fight, we can't hold tables.' despite telling us earlier in the day they could. The food itself is teeming with sodium, and this is coming from someone who puts table salt on everything. No joke, every time we go here, we end up absurdly thirsty for the next 24 hours. I dunno why they heap salt onto everything (once we literally saw small piles of salt on our nachos!) but it's overkill and not really necessary since the food doesn't taste BAD per se. If you like long waits and crowds of teenagers, look no further! We wouldn't even recommend coming here at night even if it were the last place open in town. I recently went for dinner with my parents to Applebee's because they usually like this place and it's their favorite restaurant we were at unpleasantly surprised when many menu items were unavailable no substitutions were available on certain meals. I usually am very pleased when I come to this location. Tonight my waitress was named crystal & I was very disappointed with the service. All she seemed to be concerned about as she stated to us is "hanging out and eating fries". We started off the night waiting in line at another Applebee's but left when a group of unsupervised teenagers got into a fist fight. We went to this Applebee's instead. After an unusually long wait, received drinks with half the alcohol as normal because we ordered two-fors. Waitress told is this is normal. Let me be clear: two for one mixed drinks contain 50% the normal amount of alcohol at this Applebee's. If you go there for this, you best enjoy glasses of mixer. What made this visit worse was the litter under the table, the bloody bandage on the booths seat,the flipped over table at the next booth over, and the fact that the bar couldn't even be bothered filling up our two for one mixed drinks that they put half the amount of alcohol in as a rule. This was a horrible visit softened a bit because our waitress was beautiful. Still, I'll stay away from this place in the future as I feel my money would be better spent thrown in the street. read more

It's edible, definitely frozen, half off apps are always really greasy and kind of gross. God dam I love this place. Still confused about the name but that isn't going to stop me from giving it 5 stars. Me and buddy walked straight up to the bar and the bartender poured us 2 beers of exactly what we wanted without saying a word. I've never met this man before in my life! We got the chili lime chicken instead of steak (not because of price or religious reasons we just wanted to try the chili lime chicken. Food is mediocre, atmosphere is noisy and crowded AND the bathroom is always a mess... I've visited a few times and it's pretty much always the same. Service is barely there... To be sure- friends said chicken tacos are good...but that burgers are only acceptable. I did like the sweet potato fries. But-The last time I ordered a salad, it was not very good at all- lettuce was old and turning. Ugh. I am a very frequent customer and always have a great time here but tonight was very different. I am 21 years old and my license picture is from my permit picture so I have glasses on in it that I do not wear anymore. I ordered a LI tea from my waitress and it was delivered by what I can assume was a manager who proceeded to id me again and then interrogate me on not having glasses and there being something on my ID that she had "never seen before" and was very reluctant on giving me my drink. This is the worst experience I have ever had here. I waited 20+ mins for a table then there were roughly 4-5 available even the table that I saw on the Best Buy parking lot side was still available. So when we finally sat down we asked our waiter how come there is such a long wait because there was one clean table and two dirty tables for the room full of people waiting. Normally this would be fine, but I brought my 10 month old, and was told they would not accommodate with any sort of high chair in that area. After visiting this Applebees again, I figured out why this privacy wall is behind the urinals. Once the restroom door is open, there is a clear view of the urinals so this wall actually prevents the servers from seeing a bunch of guys making the shake motion as manhandle themselves and negotiate their member back in the fly. We go to Applebee's from time to time and the food is what it is since its a huge corporation... therefore what makes THIS Applebee's stand out and what makes me come to Yelp for a review was our waiter GLENN... he was Awesome!! He got in the corporate hoo-ha... while making it a fun experience. He was so funny and efficient and clearly acted as though he enjoyed his job. He should be a corporate trainer for Applebee's wait staff - as he had perfect timing and attitude. Many Applebee's waitstaff could learn a thing or two... He even got himself a bigger tip then normal... with the crazy lives people lead and grabbing a bite to eat at this type of restaurant, waitstaff is almost more important then the food...Thank You Glenn! read more

I wanted to take time to offer praise and sincere gratitude where it is very much deserved. On the late evening of January 20, 2019, Applebee's, located on 499 N. Service, Patchogue, NY, welcomed a large family party (approximately 23 people) unexpectedly. My family had just left the wake service of a very dear family member. Everyone was sad, tired, hungry and in great need of good food and company. After telling the manager, Albert, the circumstances my family party was coming from, he and his staff rose to the occasion. Our server, Kayla, handled our large group with grace and immense kindness. I can only imagine that large parties can be incredibly stressful in the restaurant industry. However, Albert, Kayla and the rest of the Applebee's staff were always kind, courteous and professional.
