First and foremost I'd like to state that I have two Applebee's locations near me but my bf and I travel to the Patchogue location not only for the food but for the service! I know this is a franchise but the quality of food is better than the other locations I've been to and the service is fast and efficient. We have been served by Laurie and I know I'm not the only one who has said this but she is by far the best server we've ever had!!! She always greets us as if we've known her for years!! The entire staff and management is top notch here at the Patchogue location! The restaurant is always clean and tables and menus are never sticky. I will always recommend this location to my friends and family! Keep up the great work guys xo read more

We always have a solid meal at this Applebees. The food is tasty, the service is usually great and value for dollars spent is good, especially if we're trying to save a little money. We went recently and enjoyed their 2 for $2x and as usual the food was excellent... I had the chicken and shrimp and hubby had the steak. We each had a salad and a drink... and we didn't feel like we had broken the bank for an evening out. I will say, probably at this point it's been long enough since they've renovated... It's not run the way it used to.. there wasn't anyone at front desk, we waited, very nice waitress, she got order correct and checked back.. I will say my salad greens were very fresh but the fried chicken is over cooked. My husband got chicken fingers and they were overcooked, my granddaughter's burger was so overcooked... all the chicken and burger seemed almost reheated? Went last night around 11, it wasn't that crowded but a good amount of people. When we walked in there was no one at the host stand, so we stood there waiting. Multiple servers walked past us without saying anything. Then I noticed the manager and two other servers standing by the bar starring at us. Instead of coming over to seat us, or to have us put our name on a waitlist they just stood there looking. We ended up walking out after 10 minutes and went to the Bohemia location, got seated right away and had great service and food. Inexcusable level of bad service. My husband is currently sitting at Applebee's waiting over an hour for a pickup order. Their only excuse is that they're "running behind". (He was finally given got our food after almost 2 hours of waiting.) Nowadays we're encouraged to get take out to help keep our favorite restaurants in business. Haven't been back here since Covid-19 outbreak, they have taken precautions to adhere to Government standards. That being said, we ordered an appetizer Nachos with beef, excellent portion, taste was on point and fresh jalapeños. Entrees came next an i gad the 1/2 rack ribs, broccoli and Mexican rice. Ribs were good I got them with there spicy sauce. Rice and broccoli were bland. If you are not going to season the good and not put out salt and pepper shakers, then at least give salt and pepper packets. I couldn't eat either items. The rice was only par boiled, the black beans looked reconstituted and had no flavor. No refills offered or received on sodas. I guess this is settling in the waining days of Covid. read more

Don't even waste your time. After waiting a half hour of our quoted time of 10-15 minutes we ask the host how much longer and he responds with "uhhh you're names not on the list." Should have listened to the girls walking out telling us not to go in since they waited an hour and a half just for drinks and just walked out. I get that everywhere is shortstaffed but I don't take "uhhhh" as an answer. read more

My experience at this Applebee's started like any other trip to Applebee's. Empty stomach and hopeful for a good meal. I decided to sit at the bar and dine at the bar since I went alone after a long days work on Saturday. I was pleased to be greeted by Kayla The bartender! to which I explained that I don't drink alcohol however, I just wanted to fit in & not waste a table space for a family. She made sure of it from the moment I sat down to the minute I walked out the door as a happy customer. I felt welcome in her presence as she courteously introduced herself with a smile. After discussing drink choices with her I came conclusion to trust her gut In making me a delicious nonalcoholic drink. She made me the most delicious non-alcoholic Shirley Temple I've had in a long time. Was very attentive and even gave me recommendations on what to have to eat that night... as I am a very picky eater and have a couple allergy restrictions i.e. Sesame & gluten that I made aware to the bartender Kayla. She displayed strong integrity by explaining to me honestly that she wasn't completely aware of which allergens are in which foods, however with her training she knew that it was in the menu and together we flipped it open she pointed out menu options with out Sesame and Gluten. I came to the decision for me to get The bourbon street chicken and shrimp as she recommended it! Which I may add, was cooked to perfection. But even then after I ordered SHE WANTED the peace of mind that this was true and that I didn't have any allergens going in my food, as she previously explained that the allergen portion of the menu wasn't her strong suit. She stepped away momentarily and checked with the back of the house to double check and make sure that my food came out correctly the first time and didn't land me in the hospital. And came back and confirmed with the kitchen before my order came out... All while serving a full round of happy patrons and not skipping a single beat. She made everyone including me smile and laugh while providing optimum service that you would expect walking into an Applebee's. As I progressed through my meal and tasteful conversation You can tell Kayla has regulars that come see her often as the conversations with other customers seemed a lot more in depth than any type of first time experience like mine. She truly takes the time and effort to get to know you even if you're only dining/at the bar for the night. Or a weekend regular. Even asked me about my job & how things were as I looked BEAT from a long day. Being at the bar with Kayla as a bartender was quite an experience as her personality shines resilently through her work ethic & almost feels like a warm hug. Her entire work area was spotless and even after patrons came and left she was on the ball and ready for the next. Always seemed like she was always one step ahead of the game at all times. If you are her boss and you are reading this please know that this woman is an asset to your business and the general ambience of the establishment. She deserves everything that comes her way as her light shined the brightest Saturday night. Genuine people like that are hard to come by nowadays so it's a rare occurrence for someone to care and go beyond her job responsibility to ensure a great experience to a complete stranger. This is located in the same building as the old Okey Dokey restaurant. Basically this is the same restaurant with a different name. I mean, once you're in the door it's all the same. Striped shirt wearing waiters and nostalgia all over the walls. Bennigans, Houlihans, Applebees...all the same. Anyway, when I went here it was early in the day so not that crowded. They have a massive waiting area to the left when you walk in, so I don't know if that means they get mobbed or if they're thinking big and hoping for it. The waiter we had was regular, did his stuff..yada yada yada. I ended up getting the "Cowboy" hamburger. Cheese, onion ring, BBQ sauce. Good stuff...but I am a sucker for a good burger. My favorite restaurant in the Patchogue / Brookhaven area! The service here is great; there seems to be very little turnover. I usually sit in the bar area. They've had the same regular bartenders for a while, and I hope this doesn't change. Casey, Sam, Ashley, Kevin, Theia and company are great! And so is the management. This is a well run place. 9 times out of 10 everything is perfect. They do a great job especially with the regulars such as myself. The food is always as ordered, and the server usually knows what my favorites are, and what to recommend if I'm in the mood for something different. Keep up the great work! I've been coming to this place for a bit since it's super local to me, but I am not sure if it's under new management, but the last few times we've come the place is a dirty mess. We were nearly seated at a table that had french fries, cutlery,and whatever else all over the seats and underneath the table. The dinners have come out cold every single time. The appetizer was so hot which is how good should be when it's first dropped off, which leads me to think that the dinners were sitting until we were done w our appetizer The only thing this place has going is the craft beer selection, the bar and the kindness of the wait staff. Add a star if you are going just for the bar and bar food or just a hamburger. This location seems to do well with a lively bar. They must be doing something right. My husband and I shared an appetizer, the Wonton Tacos Chicken, spicy taco with chicken and Asian flavors. Best thing we ate. My mistake was reading the calorie counts on the menu. It's great that you can see the calories but it prevented me from ordering the calorie-rich foods that may have tasted better. I ordered a shrimp dish that was probably one of the lowest calorie items. The Sizzling Asian Shrimp & Broccoli had broccoli, red peppers and a spicy sauce. When the dish arrived, I though they brought me a Lean Cuisine frozen dinner. It looked nothing like the picture in the menu. It was small, the shrimp were small and it tasted like a pre-packaged dinner. It was overly spiced which did not improve the meal and an insult for $14.99. My husband also ordered a shrimp dish, the Bourbon Street Chicken & Shrimp, and could not believe the size of the shrimp. No need to cut the shrimp. Just pop them into your mouth. We ordered dessert which defeated the purpose of ordering the low calorie dinner, but we felt we needed something else after those entrees. And we were sharing, so that helped. We had the Triple Chocolate Meltdown which was good, but how can you ruin chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream? So I wouldn't run back there, or recommend this place to anyone who likes good food. It's fine for the bar, bar appetizers and desserts. If you're meeting some friends for a drink, well then it's not about the food, so it would be fine. Hope that helps! read more

Normally, I would not review a chain restaurant because the food is not really in their control. And as my food is in a bag riding home with me, i don't yet have my opinion formed. This is about hospitality, making you feel " at home" and comfortable. I was at this location for a brief meeting with a couple whose wedding I would be officiating in two day. I arrived early, took a table in the bar and was greeted by Kelly C. For the next 45 minutes I watched Kelly enthusiastically spin around that section, making sure everyone was happy and had what they needed. Constantly checking and rechecking. A warm friendly voice, a "happy to see you" smile and a genuine concern for the customer. My initial plan was to meet my clients, have a drink or two while we spoke, and then stop to pick up dinner for my wife and I. Truth be told, because of the good feeling I got during my time there, I placed my take out order through Kelly. I haven't been to an Applebee's in many years and was pleasantly surprised at the varied menu. I remember only rich and fried food but they now have a nice selection of "lighter" meals. I have a restricted diet so I was happy to be able to find something that worked for me. And the food was very good! Not as hot as it could be but ok. My only complaint was that there was six of us and one meal was late in coming and one meal was incorrect. Not the waitress's fault but the kitchen's. I would go back though. read more

Been coming to this Applebees for a while now, way before the Shirley location opened. Overall had a good time, but the waitress wasn't so great. I look for certain things when I go out to eat, like automatic refills on my water. Also, she didn't clear the dishes when we ordered dessert. I even stacked them nicely for her to take away. On top of it, she pulled a dessert from the window that wasn't ours. It was melted by the time it got to our table. I only know this wasn't ours because another cookie sundae came to our table looking brand new. 100% disappointed with my visit to this location. Really bizarre experience. Came here for Father's Day. Drove into the parking lot, which was basically empty. Walked toward the restaurant and saw lots of families standing in the parking lot. Walked in and saw tons of empty tables. Went to the hostess and was told there would be a 20-25 minute wait. Why would there be that long of a wait when the place was empty? After waiting for about 20 minutes, we eventually sat ourselves and was served almost immediately. Really confusing. The food was fine, but the whole ordeal of waiting for a table in a restaurant that was basically empty, was confusing to say the least. read more
