Today, a party of 10, party of 2 and a party of 3 waited 15 minutes before someone yelled out can we get some service. A young waitress comes over to my party of 10 and tells us we have to wait even though there were plenty of vacant seats. When asked why we couldn't sit a particular spot we were told they couldn't sit now one there. What a waste of time. We ended up leaving out because we didn't see anyone trying to bust tables down after other patrons finished eating. Please get some help here. read more

We've been here before and it wasn't so pleasant. We decided to give it another go. We were greeted quickly and with a smiling face. Sat very quickly and the server was at our table within minutes. The restaurant was clean and the restrooms were also. They were moderately busy. Our server, Brittany N. Was by far the best waitress I have ever had. She understood what a customer expected and went beyond to satisfy. She even helps cook also at times so she also gets the food. She ensured we understood that what we wanted was very important. If anything, she's the reason I will go back. Let's get to what people really want to know, the food. My wife said the salad was good and a great portion. I had the boneless wings with the Asian Chile sauce. They were crispy and hot. I did have to ask for more sauce as there was not enough to me on them. To be fair, I enjoy mine very saucy. Once the extra sauce was on, they were right on. My wife ordered the Bourbon street steak that was tender and cooked the way she asked. The sides were great also. I had the Bourbon street chicken and shrimp. I asked for the onions and mushrooms separate and it came with the onions under the chicken. I was ok with that. No big deal. The waitress ensured the kitchen knew it was a big deal. LOL! The food was great and the shrimp just hit right with that garlic butter. I wanted a late night snack and was craving pretzels. The pretzels were actually very good but the beer cheese was lukewarm and just average. The french onion soup was terrible. Me and my 2 sisters and our kids went out the eat one day. We arrived around 3. We put in the kids orders before we even ordered our drinks. Wish I knew the waitress name because she was absolutely terrible. After an hour of waiting and hungry kids she says she had JUST put the order. AN HOUR LATER. We tried to be patient because we was hungry. She was very snobby. Anyways the entrees and the kids food came out at the same time. Wearing masks is primarily to protect others, so them wearing a mask is also meant to protect you. It's your choice not to do so, but vilifying people who are trying to do that for you is low. So thank you for asking me to leave for not wearing my mask. If you have employees who wear them as chin warmers as they greet you at the door then customers should have the same option. Simply put I have been looking for an excuse to stop coming back. There is only one thing on the menu my wife likes and that is why we would come back. For me, the food has never been that good. I so love Applebee's. I think for a low priced, American cuisine family restaurant its great. However, it saddens me that I've been to the New Bern location 4 times and this last time was the last straw for me. I find it to be unclean, the tables are always sticky and this time I had to wipe it down myself with baby wipes. We had a bad experience here. The waiter seemed new or high, he came twice for our order and took forever to bring our drinks. We ordered 2 rainbow drinks and didn't even come with the little candy that was advertised, as well as the shark drink. I asked if there was any alcohol in it and the waiter just said yes and left. It literally tasted like a smoothie. Once everyone at the table got their food the waiter asked if I still wanted the burger I ordered. I believe another waiter or cook came to drop it off while our waiter didn't realize it got to the table. Once we paid and left a $5 tip for a $48 bill our waiter wasn't seen at all. I will not rate on the small staff situation because they are dealing with what just about every restaurant is dealing with. They seem to be doing the very best they can. My mother ordered via the Applebee's site for pickup. When she arrived, she called and said she was outside and the guy who answered said the food would be right out. She waited and waited. She finally called again and the woman who answered told her they didn't know anything about her order and that she couldn't refund it because mom had "paid the internet." Ordered curbside to go, the waitress/carhop was fantastic. Got home and found they had left a side out. Called and told them I would come back up to get it. By the time food arrives you've forgotten what you've ordered. The current staff are working tables as fast as humanly possible. There are simply not enough of them.
