The food was ok. No problems with the bacon cheeseburger and fries. Service was slower than expected but sufficiently friendly. I was turned off by the wait person wearing long, painted nails. Ok, it was weird that a guy was wearing them. However, whether male or female, Health and safety regulations strongly support short, clean nails. Food‑service rules emphasize that nails must be short, clean, and easy to sanitize. Long nails -- whether natural, acrylic, or gel -- can trap bacteria and are harder to clean thoroughly. This increases the risk of cross‑contamination. The FDA Model Food Code (which states and counties base their rules on) also stresses the importance of keeping nails trimmed and clean for anyone handling food. Also, the wait guy addressed me as "hon." That was offensive. I don't know whether Applebee's adheres to the FDA Model Food Code but, if not, I prefer not to dine at this location. read more

So, now I understand why the place was nearly empty during lunch time and has low yelp ratings. My online order was ready when I arrived. It was brought to me quickly. Nothing was wrong with the service. It was fast and efficient. I had the bacon cheeseburger lunch special. How do you mess up French fries? I couldn't eat them There is a reason why I'm on Weight Watchers. It's because I love to eat. They were terrible and honestly difficult to describe. Sort of gummy, no crunch and a few minutes from being too cold to consume. The burger was over cooked but I still ate it. I had two choices when ordering, pink or no pink. I didn't want to leave it up to the discretion of the cook so I chose no pink. I usually get my burgers medium well. The burger wasn't too bad. I've eaten at a lot of different Applebees that are routinely good but this one was probably the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. ! We chose to eat at the bar due to a 30 minute wait even though the place was less than halfway full. The bartender was overloaded but did his best to get us drinks and take our order. It was 45 minutes before our food came out and my medium rare steak looked and tasted like a piece of leather. My veggies were cold as well as my partner's chicken wings. Went to the Xenia Ohio location. Arrived at 6:30pm, told there was a 25 minute wait. Already waiting was the Benedict College Mens Volleyball team. Kitchen had taken their orders. The head cook/manager was the ONLY person to bring their orders out. Only after the team got their orders were the 8 patrons who were waiting to be seated were we seated. Shown our table. When the server arrived to take our drink orders no silverware was brought, nor napkins. Once our appetizer arrived we had to get our own napkins...after about 15 minutes we got our drinks. When our entrees arrived one order which had french fries was brought out to us WITHOUT the fries. The quickest item we ordered was the last to come to our table. INEXCUSABLE. When one of us talked to the Head cook/manager he acted and expressed no real apology for our long wait. We walked out after eating, and it was 8:50pm. Applebees has a REAL PROBLEM in this location. I have been to many Applebee's over the years, but the bartender is what made this experience worth the 5-stars. I sat down at the bar and was quickly greeted by the bartender who appears to be well-known by a lot of the locals. She was very polite, called me dear, and was quick to fixing my drink. You could tell the locals liked her because she knew what they drank before they ever sat down and was already working on their drinks. I enjoy establishments who get to know their customers and learn their drink and order habits. The food was tasty, but the friend chicken was a bit overcooked on the exterior. You can tell their oils temperature is too high, but it cooked the chicken to a good temperature. If you like a good gravy, try their stout gravy and always ask for extra. It is that good! read more

Took 40 minutes for my mom to get just a bowl of soup. When asked about it we were told that they were defrosting or thawing it. Did you know that they freeze their food? I didn't know they freeze their food. Then when the soup finally came, the bowl was only half full. I visited this Applebees twice in the last two days. First let me tell you about the staff. Two different severs both were fantastic, polite and not intrusive. Very friendly both. Now the food that was delivered super fast, floored me. I had steak the first night, cooked perfectly and tender. The garlic mashed potatoes pared exceptionally well. Second I had crispy shrimp. Great favor, I prefer no sauce. It was accompanied with good cole slaw a bunch of fries. Since I quit adding salt at the table I get a good taste of the food. This Applebees is well worth the visit. They also have a really nice bar area and tv's mounted everywhere. Check this Applebees out I don't think you'll be disappointed. The prices are average restaurant prices. Well the server seemed off from the very beginning. We couldn't figure it out. But eventually it showed its ugly head in an ugly way. We heard a plate fall and hit the ground. In the kitchen. Either way you combine it, the combo comes out to ~ $7-10 per person. I had French onion soup with oriental chicken salad (8/10 taste). My wife had tomato soup with shrimp salad. Throw in an iced tea and a lemonade, the lunch bill came to $26 for two people. Dining room was well kept and mostly empty at 1:30 pm. Only negative is the bathroom floor is really slippery from condensation and tile pattern. If you have a walking disability be careful. Waitress was friendly and attentive. A separate, unkept looking woman brought the bill and slammed down the bill "Here's your check" and walked away. No hello, no good afternoon, no thank you. Hence 4 of 5 stars. read more

(9763) Tuesday April 23, 2019 This is the second time in two weeks the first time we had trouble getting a server to get order for drinks then15 minutes to get drinks and then over 25 minutes to get food we oredered drinks and food at same time. Tuesday we had to wait for hostess for over 5 minutes to be seated drinks came fine had trouble with food order first initially said that we couldn't sub grilled vegetables for rice my daughter cannot have rice and have done this at other Apple-bees Second my wife and i substituted Grilled vegetables and roasted red potatoes for fries and coleslaw we got fries and coleslaw had to remind waitress she apologized and ordered correct sides. we had rib-lets and the sauce was very strong with vinegar taste my wife complained to manager and his reply was that every one was quitting on him he is new also the thing is that we had spent day at Cleveland clinic and was hoping to get a decent meal. Ordered wings on wing day. Got both boneless and regular. Both were excellent. Meaty, hot and fast. I don't think I ever had your wings before so this was a good time to try them. Horrible horrible place. Clearly bad management bad hiring bad training and bad cooks....waited at the front no hostess in sight...finally got seated. Server came took order food came back about 30 mins later. Food was room temperature. Across the board. There was four of us...Sauce was missing from two plates my friends salmon was raw in the middle..other friends salmon was dry and cold Mac and cheese was dry and tasted disgusting. Drinks were horrible. We heard an argument coming from the kitchen ..like REALLY? This is a professional ( supposed to be) establishment and you're arguing and yelling in the kitchen? Sounded like a fight was about to ensue Unbelievable! We refused to pay for the food and left. Will never be back . This review doesn't even deserve one star.
