We came for the unlimited fries deal and we got unlimited fries. We didn't even have to ask for more, they just kept coming, it was glorious. The waitress, Rachel, was speedy and very polite. I fully understand that this is a chain and we we're certainly not looking for five star cuisine, but heck this was beyond awful. Rude and I mean rude wait staff, rare burger, and an up charge of .69 cents for bbq sauce that came with the meal but we had to ask for it because it was forgotten. Definitely a location we won't be back to. Also we were told that there was a wing special with the burger, $1 for 12 and got charged $5. Had dinner tonight at Applebee's in Herkimer, NY. I ordered the grilled chicken, garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. Broccoli was overcooked and mushy. Mashed potatoes had several chunks of potato not mashed. Chicken was a frozen, pressed chicken filet, like eating boiled plastic. I asked for some butter and when I got it, it looked like someone else had already been using that container of butter. While the service was good and our server was pleasant, my dinner was anything but good. Sorry, I can't recommend this item no matter how I look at it. Get some decent chicken filets, mash the potatoes properly and don't cook the broccoli to death. read more

I'm usually pretty happy with the curbside to go but today was just not it. We got drinks with no straws and no utensils, but the thing that made me mad was how i ordered an extra side of sauce for $2.99 for my 3 cheese chicken penne, and i did not get my sauce. I thought maybe I forgot to select that in my order but i checked the receipt and i was charged for the extra side of sauce. 1 star for service; 1 star for speed; 1 star for convenience. It's Applebee's. I'm not expecting a melt-in-your mouth steak served on a 500-degree plate. What I am expecting is not for the waitress to offer me A1 out of an expectation that the steak won't taste good (although it was a bit too salty for my taste). At least the steak was cooked to temperature, albeit a bit chewy. The pasta could have done without the artichokes and mushrooms, and perhaps a bit more flavor (read: salt) could have been added. The salad was the highlight of the Take Two. The berries were fresh and the chicken was the perfect protein for this otherwise typical spinach salad. We did have a sweet waitress who was speedy in getting our orders in, bringing them out 10 minutes later, and closing our check as soon as we finished eating. The best thing about this Applebee's? It's right off 90W, so if you're heading towards Syracuse or Buffalo, it's a good resting point. Just be careful of roadblocks they have under the bridge on summer Fridays. read more

We stopped here for a quick lunch on the way out from MA. When they brought the silverware out it had left over crusty food on it. The server was nice and brought us a different set. I got a buffalo salad. The description said it was chicken topped with the buffalo sauce. It was more like the person who made it dumped the container all over it. The person I was with, their food was just what was ordered. All together it wasn't an amazing experience, but I might give them another chance. read more

Came in tonight after several hours of driving from vacation. The service was great and friendly, the food came out quickly and was delicious! Husband ordered his favorite- Fiesta Lime Chicken and I ordered a new one- Cedar Lemon Chicken. It was good! There were a lot of surprising flavors involved and they really came together well. The piece of chicken was thick and tender, no fatty/gritty pieces like I usually find in thicker cuts. I wish there were more options for vegetarians/vegans, but that's a corporate issue, not the individual location's, so I won't fault them for that. After the initial post-dinner checkup, it was awhile until we saw the waitress again. We could've used refills but it wasn't an emergency and she was super nice throughout our entire visit, so it's no big deal. This is a nice location right off the thruway. This place is a hit or miss kind of place. Sometimes it's good and others it's like what's wrong the cooks. The interesting thing is that, even though is a chain, the food tends to taste differently depending on where you go. Their menus offer deals such as 2 for $20 or 2 for $25. Which is cheaper if you are only going to eat and drink tab water. But once you add drinks the bill sky rockets! Their tropical margaritas are completely water down with tons of ice and sugar. Their kids drinks are super expensive and extremely sweet like their lemonades. Ah well! It's a good place for when there is nothing else around and don't feel like traveling far away! read more

Took over a half an hour just to get drinks. (It was not even remotely busy.) Waited almost an hour to get food. Waitresses stood around talking to eachother and screwing around. Our waitress asked 3 times if we needed a box after telling her yes each time. Which took another ten minutes. At this point there were eight tables with people at them amd 4 or 5 wait staff members. Ended up paying the bill on the kiosk amd leaving the food at the table. Absolutley terrible, inexcusable service. Left pissed and will not be back. read more

The night before good Friday my husband and I wanted to have a drink and dinner. As busy as the restaurant and bar was there was only 1 bartender! She had our back to us the whole time. When she finally acknowledged us to take our drink order and give us menus it was as though we were a nuisance to her. Once served she turned her back to us again, never to return to take our order. Every waitress and customer with a quick pick ticket are the only people who gained her attention. After 30 mins of being ignored we left. The disgusting night manager on duty is never to be seen unless the two blonde bartenders are working. read more

Food is outstanding! Apple bees was my first restaurant I went here at herkimer when I moved in. The deals are amazing and I got 2 dishes for me and my boyfriend. My boyfriend got the cedar grilled lemon chicken and I got the shrimp and fries. Our meals also included boneless wings all for just 20 dollars! I'm a broke college student and let me tell you this. If you want to get your Ass out of the house but don't want to go all out for dinner but also want it to be a little classy and go out to eat a restaurant, go to apple bees!! I recommend going to Applebee's in Herkimer, its very good. Me and my friends like the food a lot. Food: I eat the buffalo chicken, it's really good and spicy. Went there for a disappointing lunch. I'm giving it 2 stars for the great waitress we had. Great personality and a great server. The food really wasn't good. The only salad dressing they have is ranch, honey mustard, oil and vinegar, Caesar, Italian and balsamic vinegar. No Russian, French, vadalia onion or anything else. You would think they would have a bottle or 2 on hand. We ordered chicken fingers. They were overlooked. Hard and dry. The Cole slaw tasted old as the cabbage was wilted and limp. Very disappointed! Waited for about an hour for a fajita roll up and a philly brew. The fajita wrap that had a few minced pieces of chicken, a small amount of cheese, no pico de gallo, however, contained about a head of lettuce. Asked for some extra sauce that I never received. The philly brews bun was so soggy it couldn't even be picked up. When asked why the order took so long we were told it was because of the garlic fries we ordered. Guess if you expect a decent meal in under an hour....don't order garlic fries. We didn't know they were so difficult to make! read more
