Overpriced for what you get. $15 for 90%bread. Prices increase and sizes decrease. Only reason it got 2 stars is because it tastes good. Sad that the sizes are half what they used to be.

Stopped for lunch, the menu looked great and I settled on The Omaha (roast beef, horseradish mayo, provolone, red onion, served as a panini). I upgraded for the fresh cut fries - a huge plus! Price was reasonable, fries were incredible. The sandwich was a bit overpowered by the horseradish. I think roast beef needs to be salt and peppered to shine on a sandwich and it would've helped a lot here. Pickled red onion would've improved the sandwich, also. I think it was pretty good but with so many other options on the menu, I would not order that sandwich again. Hope I'm in the area again soon to try another sandwich.

The food was good and the service was too. My only gripe is that I called in advance for reservations (we had a party of 10) and whoever took my reservation had no idea what to do and didn't set aside a table or even let anyone know we were coming. it all worked ouy

    1. You insisted I ordered from Door Dash for delivery... OK I accept your demands. But, 2. You allow me to order a Spinach Apple Salad. 45 mins later my dasher is there to pick up and you don't have apples!?! OK, i accept this atrocity, but, 3. You made the appless spinach salad with no spinach and just lettuce. Thank you for this box of lettuce. My rabbits appreciate you. Oh, 4. You forgot the chicken that was on it. You owe me $16.00 plus the 5 minutes of my life I had to spend warning the rest of the world. Strong work Bennu Cafe. OH: Addendum, i figure if I took the time to write "dressing on the side PLEASE" on my order, I should take the time here as well. Maybe this time you'll catch on...

My sister recommended this restaurant to me while we were out visiting Utica NY. The topical smoothie was good but a friend ordered the espresso smoothie and was shocked to find there were bananas in the espresso smoothie. (Ingredients were not listed for smoothies) I ordered a burrito bowl which was extremely bland. I took it home and seasoned it. The beans, rice, and corn didn't taste like anything. My sister highly recommends the eggplant sandwich. The service also took 45 minutes to bring out 2 sandwiches and fries.

This place has definitely gone down hill in the past few years. Their food and service used to be ON POINT but the last time I came everything was mediocre to say the least. We ordered the chicken wing dip for an appetizer (one of my favorite dishes here) the chips were stale and the dip was cold. Blekkkkk. I asked the waitress for her opinion on two salads and her response was "I don't like tuna... so...". Like uh ok, super helpful. I ended up getting the Ahi tuna salad anyway and it was OK, nothing special. My friend got the Reuben sandwich and she enjoyed it. There was only one bartender and one waitress in the entire back dining room... and the entire room + bar was full by the time we were finished with our meal. The bartender took our order and the waitress brought out our food. Both weren't very friendly, they seemed annoyed at life. Food - 2/5 stars. Service 2/5 stars. Honestly, I wouldn't come back here anytime soon.

An order of garlic fries! Why so much

Bennu was close to my friends house so we decided to pick up lunch! I was really surprised how yummy the ingredients were and the flavors that came through. I had the new "Eggplant", fried piece of eggplant, spinach, thin slices of cucumber and feta cheese. I really loved the bread but I felt it was mostly bread with little filling. The garlic fries were a bit dry but the flavor was really amazing! Maybe perhaps the portion could be smaller and the fries could be cheaper, they're almost the cost of a sandwich (5.50). This is a really clean establishment and my friend really enjoyed her sandwich which was the Jimmy. You can tell they use real fresh ingredients.

Here for lunch with coworker. Had take out before, not bad. The vibe of the restaurant is very good, an artistic cafe. It is good for small group or couples for conversations. The food: they have interesting specials today and we ordered different ones. I had the tuna steak sandwich with sweet potato fries. The tuna was fresh but the seasoning was a bit light. I did not taste much so I used the sweet garlic sauce for the fries, which turned out to be very good. Fries were okay, a bit over cooked on the dry side so I dipped with the sauce - I usually don't eat sweet potato fries with sauce. The bun was good, however the edge was burned which I had to tear off. We ordered the soup of the day, and mine was chowder. Not bad. Service: not bad, however with only one girl serving at the time, it was very slow. We waited to order and then we waited for the check - the food was delivered at average time. The lunch took us about 1 and half hours. However, a sandwich and a cup of soup cost almost 20 bucks pre tax is a bit on the high side.

The grease from the garlic fries.. if you don't mind a pool of it they are very good.

Absolutely bussin. Hunter is the best employee. Love the chicken soup but it could use more chicken and less veggies. Hunter supremacy.

We sat at the bar which is typical and had the absolute best experience with Emma, the bartender, who was big as a barn pregnant, but looking very cute. Emma was personable, knowledgeable and very engaging. We really enjoy the conversation, food/beer experience. I had the tacos and hubby had the grilled cheese with a cup of the soup of the day, all was very tasty!! Beer was very yummy! Should you happen upon Utica, NY, stop by Nail Creek Pub and Brewery, it's a great place to take a load off and have a local brew, great service and conversation. Any other time, if you are not a regular, this place might not be for you. I've been here several times with mixed experiences. The last time I was there was a Thursday in the summer of 2024. My husband, brother and I were excited to find seats at the bar and order dinner. The bartender was a short blonde woman and there was a male bar back. The bartender did not acknowledge us for over 15 minutes. We were actively looking at the menu on our phones and talking about what we wanted to try and attempted to make eye contact with her as she walked by us with no luck. She didn't even say "I will be right with you", literally no interaction. She was very friendly with everyone else around us seeming to know exactly what they were drinking and happy to get it for them. We left as we felt very unwelcome there and ended up having excellent service down the street at Lukin's.

I really like this place and want to see it succeed -- the staff are friendly, the food's solid,…read moreand the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. That said, a few small things keep it from being a five-star experience. First, I've noticed that drinks are sometimes served in plastic cups. I'm not sure if that's a consistent policy or just on certain nights, but it doesn't match the otherwise professional vibe of a hotel bar. Glassware adds a level of quality that really matters in a setting like this. Second, the Monday half-price chicken wing special being "dine-in only" feels a bit too rigid. I completely understand why the rule exists -- to avoid people ordering massive to-go quantities without ordering drinks or tipping. But if a customer's been at the bar for a couple of hours, ordering multiple rounds and treating staff well, they should be able to take their leftovers home. Once food is paid for, that's simply part of the cost of doing business. This isn't meant as a complaint -- more like constructive feedback. It's a good spot that does a lot right, and with just a few adjustments, it could easily be a five-star favorite.
