Solid reasonably priced meal and drinks and open late. Visited while traveling in the area and looking for a spot for food and drink with later hours. They close at midnight and were the right choice. We opted for the 2 for $25 meal deal and got the Caesar salad and blackened Cajun salmon (including two sides) with the $7 (each) up-charge. The Caesar was good with shaved parmesan and croutons although a little overdressed. We had the salmon with the garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli and green beans. It was the right portion size and everything was great. The salt and pepper grinders were a nice touch. Pacing was good and our bartender was attentive. The restrooms were a little overlooked and could have used some cleaning and replenishing. We are only in town every year for the Garlic Festival and always looking for spot that's open later and this was a good choice. read more

I usually enjoy dining at Applebee's, but my visit this past Friday was very disappointing. I came in to celebrate my daughter's birthday, hoping for a nice and relaxed experience. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was uncomfortable. I overheard two staff members speaking negatively about other employees and regulars discussing personal topics in a way that felt inappropriate for a dining room. This made the overall experience unpleasant. On top of that, my daughter's birthday was not acknowledged at all, even though we were there celebrating. read more

My visit to the Applebee's in Gilroy today was extremely disappointing and unacceptable from a service and quality standpoint. The only positive part of the experience was the hostess, who greeted us professionally and had our table ready promptly. After that, everything went downhill. We waited about 10 minutes before a server even approached the table. When he finally came, the service standards were poor. He handled our drinking glasses from the top, where customers place their lips, which is completely unhygienic and unacceptable. Robert took our order while standing far from the table, showing little engagement or attentiveness. The food presentation was very poor and did not resemble the images displayed on the menu. Even worse, the timing of the food was completely disorganized. My wife received her meal first, and the rest of our food arrived approximately 11 minutes later. Serving a table in separate waves is unacceptable and reflects a lack of coordination in the kitchen and service team. The overall quality, consistency, and presentation of the food were far below expectations. Service was virtually nonexistent throughout the meal. The only prompt service we received was when I asked another server to change the television to the World Cup channel, which he did immediately. At the end of the meal, when the server presented the check, he asked how my salad was. I told him it was not good and showed him a photo I had taken of the dish when it was served, comparing it to the menu photo. Without taking the time to properly review it, he simply stated that it looked the same as the picture. The difference was obvious. This location urgently needs retraining in service standards, food presentation, hygiene practices, communication, and meal timing. Applebee's used to deliver a much better experience. We gave them another try because my mother asked to go to Applebees. So here it is start to finish. We walked in. The hostess was sitting at the bar picking food from a man's plate that was sitting at the bar. As was the bartender. However we were seated quickly. Our waitress Lauryn, promptly came to the table and took our drink orders, brought them back quickly. She is a top rate waitress! She took very good care of our table. She deserves a raise! She is the only reason they got the extra star. Now the main reason I rated a 1 star was for the length of time it took to bring us our food. It was a shy bit over 30 minutes. It was very slow, it was not very hot. This wasn't the waitress's fault and she did come back to keep us informed of the progress. We had all you can eat ribs and each re order took equally as long. Yes the food was ok, but had it been warmer it would have been better. So work on faster food preparation and standards with the cooks. The restaurant was clean though which was awesome. I had a really nice lunch today. After shopping at the outlets I was ready for a good lunch. There were many tables available that were clean and ready. They had nice music playing in the background that I really enjoyed. I was warmly welcomed and shown to a booth and given several menus. I haven't been to Applebee's in over five years. Their menu has grown since the last time I was here. I liked that they had a special lunch menu. I decided to order an iced tea and the southwest chicken bowl from the lunch menu. My iced came out fast and my food came out with 8 minutes. It was extremely fast service. My food was very good. I was really impressed with how good it was and for $11.99, the portion was hefty. The grilled chipotle lime chicken was moist and flavorful, and had a chimichurri sauce on top. I loved the guacamole. The salad was fresh and crisp and the rice was warm and comforting. It paired well the pico de gallo and the black bean and corn salsa. The lime wedge was a nice touch. I took advantage of that and squeezed it all over the top. There were also some tortilla chips strips on top that added a nice crunch. Overall, it was really good. It was a healthy choice that tasted great. I had to stop by the Staples store right near here earlier, and I noticed there's an Applebee's right nearby. This location is located right off the 101 off of Leavesley Rd. Easy to find and plenty of parking. We wanted to take advantage of the happy hour prices where you get 1/2 off most appetizers, except the most expensive ones. My crew and me get seated and drink orders taken. Wine is happy hour priced, but it's not 1/2 off, just a buck or two off. It's still $5 bucks a glass for the house red. The appetizers we picked were the onion rings, chicken quesadillas, chicken wonton tacos, fried mozzarella cheese sticks and the boneless chicken wings. There weren't like wings at all, but more like white meat chicken nuggets, we got sauce on the side. We ordered 2 orders of each appetizer except the boneless wings. Service was efficient and friendly and our server answered all the questions we had, like what was 1/2 off and what wasn't. Our food arrived in pretty fast time. Everything was nice and hot. The onion rings were the corn meal coated crispy type, as opposed to the beer battered puffy kind. All very good. Everybody especially liked the Wonton Tacos, you get 4 to an order. The only thing I would pass on next time were the boneless wings, kind dry. The cheese sticks were fun to eat, why does everybody have to try the cheese stretch thing like they were on Instagram! It was a quick stop in for dinner and just to use my birthday coupon. Food was overall satisfying and delicious. The spinach dip was ehh and lacked a lot of flavor. Second review I've written on this place. It's always hot and miss. I went there a couple days ago when it was slow and got a burger and the fries were cold. I told the waitress, who was nice (wanting to take the plate back, but I told her to just bring out new fries) and she delivered. I started eating the burger and it was Luke warm at best. It's amazing how during a slow period they still deliver food that's not hot. I know this is a franchise, but the acting manager seems to not be doing his job. I've come here about eight times since I moved to Gilroy three years ago and from what I've seen it's a high turnover rate on the staff which are basically young kids. In my opinion, the problem is the overseeing manager which fails. I can totally understand why this location gets lower reviews. Okay.... Hostess was cooool with the greeting. She let me choose bar, or seating. Food was mid. I ordered the Tuesday steak special.. $25. Like $20 steak, $3 Jameson shots. $25 total. Especially after how long she said she worked there . Maybe they're understaffed. However, for $15, I'll go across the street to in n out. As A 10+ year service worker, I get it. But damn... Then chose salmon with broccoli and mashed potatoes and shrimp Fettucine Alfredo pasta . The salmon was just luke warm, watery and almost cold, the shrimp was undercooked and soggy, and the pasta tasted like nothing but butter. The broccoli seemed like it came straight from a freezer, warmed up and watery. Overall, a tasteless and poorly prepared meal. Definitely not worth the visit. We visited this Applebee's around two weeks ago after suddenly craving the Applebee's BBQ we remembered from Hong Kong. The food was shocking. The barbecue meat was extremely tough--so hard that it genuinely felt like it could damage my teeth. It was nearly inedible. More concerning was the hygiene issue. I clearly saw the server's finger touching the food while carrying the plate. Basic food handling should ensure that hands do not come into contact with what is being served. When I requested a to-go box, I was initially given a container that was far too small for the amount of leftover food, without any explanation. Only after I spoke up were additional containers brought, which felt careless and dismissive. Out of consideration for the cooks and other customers, we chose not to escalate the situation and simply took the food to go. However, having lived in the U.S. for many years, this was a rare and deeply unpleasant experience--one that felt not just poorly handled, but genuinely insulting and unacceptable. Despite everything, we did not leave without tipping. We still left a 10% tip out of basic courtesy. I worked as a waitress myself when I first came to the U.S., so I understand how demanding service work can be, and we are usually very generous with tips. But the unfriendly host finally called our party and sat us and walked away briskly, I initially asked to be sat in what looked like an empty area, but she said no and walked towards the steps. My opinion of the pasta was: Al dente penne and lots of grilled chicken peices, nice amount of sliced sausage, but I didn't taste the bourbon. The (1) breadstick looked a bit over baked (see pic) The burger combo was rated "pretty good". Endless or unlimited fries were tasty. First batch was salted just right but the refills were gosh darn over seasoned/salty. The negative was the order took forever. Even our lovely waitress joked and said she doesn't know why kitchen is taking long so maybe they ran to the grocery store to get the beef. We enjoyed her humor while we were hungry and waiting. Aside from the first impression of the rude or unfriendly host (she was a brunette/dark haired and a little thick) but the 2 person wait staff were friendly. I haven't read reviews here but surprised it's an overall 2 star, when it should/can be higher (Well based on this experience) I can only guess since they are within the lot of a shopping center (I'm guessing the outlet) Guests are cranky from joyful shopping. :) Would I go back? We went to Applebees to take our grandson out for a birthday dinner. My wife and I haven't been there for a long time but our grandson requested we go. The food quality was much better than I remember. Great pricing too! Our hamburgers were large and tasty. Our server did a great job during the busy evening. Service was lackluster, but what really bothered me in particular was when an old couple (probably in their 70s) was incorrectly seated at a table for 2 when they told the host that they had a party of 6. They tried walking to a larger table and was told that wasn't their table as that was for the party BEHIND them. The host showed little to zero interest in remedying the issue for the couple and rudely told them that they only wrote down 2 instead of 6. This old couple had an extremely difficult time getting around and had to get up on the higher seating area only to be belittled and led back to the waiting area. The group behind them was seated at the big table that the couple thought was theirs. I didn't even hear an apology. This irritated me. Luckily, as they returned to the waiting area, I saw that they were happily greeted by their children and grandchildren. About 20 minutes later, they were finally led back up to a table near us to share a meal with their family. I am astounded by the lack of service and won't be returning. Usually, I let things marinate for a minute before I write my reviews, but being the fact that I'm infuriated tonight, I am letting it be known. Today is May 4. I would say about 10 o'clock when we walked in we were kindly greeted by the hostess and she was pretty amazing. Super friendly, great smile that was about it as far as the qualities of this location When you think of Applebee's, you think pretty standardize of what you can get anywhere around the nation. Not here they don't want you here so don't come here. We were seated in a section and then moved to a different different one no problem there. The problem was the server. . EM I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S EMILY OR EMMA, BUT HER NAME TAG SAID EM First thing, my spouse went to the restroom and she came over and said you're still waiting for somebody right I replied to her yes but can I start with my drink order? She rolled her eyes and stared at me basically insinuating to proceeded so I did. She just walked away , when the drinks came, the guy brought the alcohol seemed drunk himself. Now to think about it, maybe they were all drunk because it definitely seemed like that was the case. Anyway, our appetizers came we got a sampler. We looked at the boneless wings and thought they looked weird ...just by touch They were freezing cold- my husband took one bite and spit it out and said they were in fact freezing cold and it was disgusting, the artichoke dip was warmed on top where they melted the cheese and then freezing cold under that- the only thing that was hot on plate was the mozzarella sticks because they were forced to fry them with the order. We sent them back. Didn't apologize she said don't worry. I'll take it off your bill. Obviously. Then the people sitting right behind us flag her down and say ours is cold too, and they had the same exact thing as us(sampler) no apology offered to them either. My hubby got a skillet. It had mashed potatoes, chicken shrimp. The chicken was warm the shrimp was raw. They literally look like they were just tossed in the sauce and thrown in the mix (again dunk maybe?) . I wish I would've took a picture before she took the plate then when I went to bite into my macaroni surprise surprise it was cold, not freezing like everything else, but it was pretty dang cold. We flagged her down and told her it was unacceptable and we just wanted to pay for our drinks and leave. She brought us the bill and said she took everything else off. We paid for drinks and when we asked her for the receipt, she told us no that she couldn't give us a receipt because the one receipt she had she needed. That's a lie we all know it. This girl didn't want us to have the receipt because she did not want us to have the ability to take the survey on the receipt. My opinion anyway. The manager on shift was named Dax he also didn't provide us with a receipt. I have never been treated so horrible in an establishment ever. This young lady was rolling Her eyes served us slop and could care less. I forgot to mention when they dropped the appetizers, I had to ask for plates and when she brought the plates, they were covered in condensation. Of course she couldn't be bothered to wipe them down. She was still close when we tried to call for her and she just kept walking , so we didn't use the plate and just set it at the side of the table. This was the most blatant disrespect we've ever received in a restaurant ever. I only wish I could've got that receipt to take the official survey on their website so they would know how their employees are treating paying customers. After us having such a lovely night and being starving, we probably would've left a pretty hefty tip, but the only tip would be to stop treating people like literal garbage! You can read my other reviews and see that I am not in the habit of leaving horrible reviews for places, but I honestly mean it from the bottom of my heart when I wish I had the option to leave not even one star in this case I would say the star is for the young lady who greeted us as we walked in because that was the only person who had an ounce of personality or maybe I should say good personality because Miss EM HAD ALL THE PERSONALITY IN THE WORLD AS FAR AS HORRIBLE PERSONALITY... well, I guess it matches her customer service.
