If you're really desperate for a meal at Applebee's for some reason, I suggest you go half an hour or so out of the way and visit the Sanford, Maine location instead. This one is subpar at best and I've never had a really standout experience here, even once. Historically I've been served the wrong order, had very slow service, the restaurant has seemed dingy and dusty. On my most recent visit, we were seated at a booth next to a window. It was a cold day, and we could feel a constant draft coming through the window, to the point that we had to sit there in our jackets to comfortably eat our meal. The people I was with both ordered coffee and stated that it was lukewarm at best upon arrival at the table, and their food wasn't much hotter. My fiesta lime chicken was hot and tasted fine, but one out of three isn't a great track record. Prices are also outrageous- almost $80 for three meals (two of which weren't hot), two cups of coffee and a soda. Overall, I won't be in a rush to come back to this location and I'll save my very occasional Applebee's cravings for the Sanford restaurant instead. read more

Service was extremely slow - barely saw our waitstaff- son wanted dessert, but considering we waited over 20 minutes and had to finally flag down waitstaff to get the check- I told him forget it. Food wasn't much better. Ribs barely had any meat on them and my vegetable side was ice cold. Not "sitting- forgotten " ice cold- but they were "not cooked/ microwaved" ice cold. I'm a frequent flyer here because of great food and I love the staff and atmosphere. Today, they went above and beyond when there was an incident with my disabled young daughter. They handled everything with grace, compassion and patience, going beyond what is expected. As a special needs mamma of two, I felt very supported and they gave me hope in humanity because this is not a given unfortunately. This place is now annoying. My food was supposed to ready at 7:30 pm. I ordered online. I sat there like 15 minutes. That's when I decided to call. I said I waited there like almost 15 minutes. She said the online system doesn't work yet it worked enough for me to order and them to charge my card. How convenient. Also I saw the girl bring food out to another car 5 spaces away from me. If it didn't work why didn't she come over and ask me my name that I put in the order for. Yet they knew that car was out there too. So she lied. Went here last night for drinks, walk in, see that at this point there is only 4 men sitting together on one side of the very large horseshoe shaped bar and one family of four on the complete opposite side of the room sitting at a high top. We ask if we can be seated at the bar and the boy at the front says it's going to be a 10 minute wait because there are people ahead of us. We're confused because the place is empty but decide to wait because it's almost Halloween and we really just want to try the zombie drink! Two couples get called in ahead of us, non of which got seated in the bar area. We finally get called in and are seated at a high top table, in the bar area but not near the bar itself. Whatever, we order our drinks and the bar tender who is also the waitress says she'll be back. At this point the bar is staring to fill up, the bartender/waitress is now waiting on close to 20 people alone, including us. We were there for almost 2 hours and managed to get 2 drinks and an appetizer, meanwhile I see people getting seated at the bar and they're being waited on immediately and we're stuffed in the corner at a high top table we didn't want to be at with drinks that have been empty for 10+ minutes. I feel compelled to share my review to warn others about the unprofessional staff, unsanitary conditions, and questionable practices that I encountered during my visit. Let's start with the atmosphere and cleanliness of the restaurant. The atmosphere is nothing more than a typical Applebee's, trying to masquerade as a cozy neighborhood bar. However, the cleanliness was absolutely appalling. The men's restroom was disgustingly filthy, with puddles of urine everywhere and snot on the walls. It was evident that the place was barely cleaned, if at all. Moving on to the food and drinks. On multiple occasions, I experienced bouts of vomiting after consuming their food. It's alarming that the food wasn't even digested properly, as I would throw it up intact the next day. My partner also suffered from food poisoning after eating at this establishment. Furthermore, the lack of availability of spirits and drinks is a recurring issue at this location. It is frustrating when you order a specific drink, only to be told they don't have it. This happened to me and my friends multiple times, even with common spirits like Fireball, Dr McGillicuddy's, and Jose Cuervo. It is highly disappointing and shows a severe lack of preparation and inventory management. The service provided by the staff was nothing short of horrendous. Not only will they over serve you, but they will also call the police on you when you leave. This happened to on more than one occasion to another patron who frequented there. It seemed like they were using regulars who were already intoxicated to falsely implicate other customers in order to gain free drinks. The bar manager's incompetence is evident, as they even went to the extent of spreading false rumors about themselves being run over, without any charges pressed against the driver who was supposedly intoxicated leaving. It's clear that their motives are questionable, and their actions are unprofessional. Perhaps the most disturbing incident I witnessed was when a visibly intoxicated woman was served more alcohol until she fell off her bar stool, had a seizure, and even voided herself. While the staff did call 911, they showed no urgency in clearing a path or flagging down paramedics. Instead, they allowed patrons to gather and gawk at the distressing scene. Finally, the cost at this Applebee's location is in line with their cheap food, cheap staff, and overall low quality. It's not worth subjecting oneself to such a terrible experience for the sake of saving a few dollars. In conclusion, I will not be returning to this Applebee's location due to the unprofessional staff, unsanitary conditions, and questionable practices that I witnessed during my many visits. I have been to this Applebee's countless times & I can't say it's the best place I have ever been but I do tend to have very consistent, good service & food. There is one particular member of the waitstaff that does deserve a lot of credit for the good job he does, Aaron. He is usually stationed at the bar area. He is very friendly, comes right up to you to greet you, checks in regularly, & overall does a wonderful job. Because of people like him I come back for more. As a lighter & tasty option, I usually order the Thai Shrimp Salad. I love that they offer the "2 for $20" & "2 for $25" menus; they have good options & it's good for a dinner that doesn't cost an arm & a leg. I'll be sure to return more in the future. read more

Went here to celebrate a birthday with a friend and was offered the worst service. The bartender and servers harassed my friend and I because we literally saw and heard them talking about not putting alcohol into the drink and laughed about as if there wasn't a separating glass separating us. My friend explained thaf she heard and saw him yell "I'm only putting SOURMIX and PEPSI IN!!" Like as if it was hilarious and basically gave us simple syrup and carbonated water, with nothing but sugar. And the worst part was the mocking after the fact of us explaining in the menu and that a Long Island tea DOES NOT have sour mix. After the fact, she gives me attitude because I just was asking because the drink isn't reflecting the menu in what it said, got upset and twisted our words to the bartender, saying that "she didn't like it, said you made it incorrectly"; which yes, he did make it not to then original recipe which I know for a fact is not in the drink, but that made him yell and got extremely angry talking shit about us IN FRONT OF US as if it was completely normal to treat a human completely like trash. And after that continuing to mock and flip both of us off. I felt extremely uncomfortable and I NEVER as a person who works in hospitality would ever disrespect the guest who is paying for YOUR SERVICE. If I wanted to get a soda I would but not we went for BIRTHDAY DRINKS which we would expect alcohol to be in them. When we finished, we literally left 2 dollar tip but I kinda regret it based on how horrible the experience was and they fact they were booing and mocking us as we left. I purchased the hamburger meal deal for $13 would have rather had a whopper for five dollars the $13 hamburger did not have anything on it.

We stopped in for the half price apps and were overall impressed. we were seated quickly and the waitress was there immediately. We ordered a couple of orders of boneless wings, a quesadilla along with a Neighborhood double burger with the additional wing $1 special. The wings were all cooked perfectly(got to admit they haven't been on a previous occasion). The quesadilla was average and a pretty good size. The burger was tasty but I'm not a fan of the smash burger fad as I like mine cooked medium/medium rare which they can't do. The waitress Savanna was outstanding, she was extremely friendly, anticipated what we needed and took care of us. Her interaction with some ladies near us was also extremely impressive, Both her and a manager apologized for some of our items taking too long to arrive at the table(we didn't see a problem actually thought they came out rather quickly) and made it up to us even when we told them they didn't have to. I'm not expecting gourmet food at a chain restaurant but this was good, hot and fast and the service was terrific. read more

Went here for my birthday, ordered a drink. I'll preface by saying I frequent the epping location and always have a lovely meal with wonderful service. Sat down in a mostly empty restaurant, ordered a drink and app. The drink came to the table a very different color than what it usually looks like and looks like on the menu. Normally, a clearish blue with yellow clearish syrup, it was a milky thick green teal, it tasted of only sour mix and coconut, was missing its usual garnish, and had nearly no alcohol. I drank it anyway and let my friend try it. She commented that it tasted awful to me right as our server walked up and ordered her own drink, asking that it not be as sweet. Her drink arrived sweeter than mine, and as it was half the size, this would've been hard to achieve. We then heard multiple employees loudly yelling about her not liking the drink. Ignored it and ordered apps. Then I ordered a different drink, which the server didn't recognize, though it has been on their menu for 6 months, then heard the bartender yell loudly about me not liking the first drink and then say I'm only putting sour mix and Pepsi in this. Watched him only put those two in while multiple servers laughed. When our sever delivered it I commented that I watched and heard them. She tried to claim that the bartender put alcohol in and named two brands that didn't go in this cocktail. I asked for something different as it wasn't even supposed to have sour mix and I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known. She brought me another drink after lots more yelling at the bar and a female bartender with blonde hair flipping me off across the restaurant. After getting my bill quickly, the replaced drink was on my bill for full price even though it was happy hour and should've been half off in the first place. After pointing it out, my server replied with ok and left. Never offered us boxes for our food and was abrasive. Ended up leaving it there while still leaving a 20% tip. Sure enough, being talked loudly about as we left, went to margaritas and was treated with kindness and attentiveness, while busier and given delicious drinks that the bartender clearly knew how to make. read more

Had to wait a solid 5-7 minutes waiting for someone to come by that would make eye contact in order to ask for some while the salad got cold. My server came back and was super apologetic. Oops! Man oh man. First off i have always been skeptical of applebees. This chain restuarant just never appealed to me. Traveling 8 hours and looking for a place to grub at 1030 PM their were not many places to choose from. So we settled for Applebees plus it was across the street. Me and my family were seated right in front of a tv playing football (always a plus.) HALF PRICE APPS!!! I ordered the double crunch wings for an app they were ok not as crispy as i like. For entree i ordered the quesadilla burger which was very good and if your watching your carbs this is pretty good alternative then the regular hamburger bun. The beef was cooked perfectly and the presentation was very nice. Now for the extra star. Me and my father in law ordered these 1 dollar mai tais. I dont even know why i did it im normally sketchy about cheap food and drinks. However this drink was all alchohol but very smooth. After the first drink i was kinda buzzed so i ordered another one and the drink didnt hit me until i got up to the to the bathroom the room was spinning. Wtf is in my drink haha. But seriously if you are looking for a quick buzz get the dollar mai tais my father is a heavyweight when it comes to drinking and after 3 he was feeling pretty nice. Apparently, the only option for dinner around these neck of the woods are corporate chains. And so we ended up at Applebee's. Although, our server forgot our silverware when our apps came, he was still a great server nonetheless. I enjoyed the Southern Punch, which was new on their menu, and guess what it had in it? SoCo!!! What sold me was when our server, told me that this had more alcohol in it than the Jamaican Freeze. Give me more al-keee-halll!!! I ordered the 7 oz. sirloin, cooked medium-rare, with asparagus & garlic mashed potatoes. I was actually kinda upset that they didn't have any other veggie options other than starches, but I only had a few bites of it and was good about it. The steak definitely came out over cooked. It was more on the medium-well side. But that didn't stop me from eating it. We shared an appetizer plate with shrimp (which I didn't eat - cause I don't eat shrimp), boneless buffalo wings w. ranch, and spinach and artichoke dip. For $11.99, this was actually a pretty good serving size to split between 4 people. My dining companions OTOH each had burgers and really weren't impressed with them at all. Again, those who asked for medium or medium-rare, got their burgers cooked way more than they wanted. Although, our server did tell us that they really only cook the burgers one way but would see what the kitchen could do. What kinda restaurant only cooks burgers one way? Mediocre for a chain. Most of the time they're pretty good, but tonight was certainly an off night that left us disappointed. We went for my boyfriend's birthday because we wanted something low key. We (three of us) all ordered burgers, when they came out they were all wrong: ones that were supposed to be no pink were pink inside, and pinks come out well done. My boyfriend's burger that was supposed to be well done came out so raw he had to send it back. The rest of us just ate our meals as is despite being disappointed, but that meant by the time his food came back, we were done eating. He ended up bringing his mostly home. We didn't even order dessert because we were all kind of over the situation at that point. Right after the burger incident, my boyfriend asked for a glass of Pepsi with no ice and it came with ice, which we let go but clearly was a miss for attention to detail by the staff. Avoid if you expect curbside service... I was told that I had to come into the restaurant maskless and in my pajamas to pickup my "Carside To Go Order". I placed an order online on 10/20/2020 for Applebees "Carside To Go" service. Filled out all of the Make/Model information about the vehicle I was driving so they could recognize me when I arrived, paid online in advance and I tipped well for the extra service. Upon arrival I parked in the specially numbered "Carside To Go" parking spots in front of the restaurant (less than 20 feet from the front door) and clicked on the "I'm Here" link that was emailed to me after placing my order just to let them know that I was there. I proceeded to wait as instructed for a server who would be "Out To Assist Me". I waited for about 10 minutes and then decided that I would just call them and let them know I was out front in case the link hadn't worked. The woman who answered the phone told me that they don't go outside after dark and that I needed to come inside to pickup my order. I told her I didn't bring my mask and that I had ordered for "Carside To Go" from the same restaurant yesterday even later and it was brought out to me. She said that my order was sitting on the table up front and that she would let the girl up front know that I was coming in without a mask. (WTF? Seriously?) I had literally done this the day before and had no issues with anyone bringing out my order to my car. As a matter of fact, that was the reason I didn't bring my mask and was just wearing my Pajamas because everything went so smoothly last time that I had ordered. I expected the same service. I didn't expect someone to just refuse to do their job, and put both me and their other customers at risk. Buyer beware, don't pre-tip online and expect any level of service from this Applebee's. tonight I ordered from applebees in dover nh on doordash. The dasher arrived at the resteraunt in good time but no progress was made. After calling doordash 3 times and leaving a note on facebook I was told that appplebees was running late but the order was being made this was 5:50 when the delivery was supposed to be here by 5:36. Then another call from the dasher confirming I ordered drinks, I confirmed I did and what they were, he said applebees disagreed and said I didn't order them. Finnaly just at 7pm an hour and a half after their anounced delivery time, and after I had opened a can of soup for my diabetic sister, the food arrived. The foood was barley warm, the drinks were wrong it was supposed to be a mt dew a raspberry lemonade and a pomergrante ice tea, we recieved a coke a plain tea and a plain lemonade. My clasic cheeseburger well done with no onion and lettuce, showed up as a bacon cheese burger with onions and lettuce, and was medium rare. 1We also ordered 2 mashed potato with the steak and got only one.
