I've been to this store 3 or 4 times in the last 2 months and I've had a pleasant experience each visit, despite the chaos. Especially at the Genius Bar. The Genius, Reed, was helpful, attentive and very informative. He didn't make me feel like an idiot for an issue that was clearly user error. I walked in the store in tears and left very happy!! The first time I came here was as a tour guide for family who were interested in buying phones. I wasnt at all familiar with how apple stores worked cause all I saw were devices on display with no price tags and "busy" employees standing around. I had to ask the girl in the front door to call someone to help me out. We finally got help within 8 minutes and though the guy was patient, his facial expressions expressed otherwise. We were clearly annoying the guy. Point is, we got all the info we needed and we ended up buying phones. The second time I went was to exchange one of the un-opened phones with another color. I went in already knowing that I had to ask the front door lady to send someone for an exchange and within about 7 minutes one of the guys came and started the exchange process. It wasnt a hassle and the guy was friendly and had good customer service. I believe his name was Manny. I think this place is cool if you know what the heck youre doing. All the employees are specialized in a certain area I noticed which is why some people dont help you and offer to call someone else instead. So as soon you go in, talk to the lady or guy at the door and tell them why youre there and youll be helped faster. Though I agree with some reviews here, there are some with a little bit of interest in you. Guess they just want commission. He tried everything he could to fix my Macbook--we even thought it was fixed after he wiped the harddrive, but that damn spinning wheel showed up again. But even though no Geniuses were on hand, they let me check it it in quickly, and it was ready for pickup first thing the next morning. Allison the girl with the dapper gator tattoo really helped me tonight on my 2nd visit to the Bedford location. She also helped me the first time. She was focused and as well informed as her time there has provided from what I could tell. I have gone to Apple many times over the last 8 years in NYC and in China and she was by far the best representative I have dealt with. Thank you Allison for being logical and fast. You deserve more than for salary for having to deal with frustrated costumers everyday. I wish I could have got you a present! It is that time of year. WELL. Apple, you completely broke my heart.. I think I'll be breaking up with you guys officially soon- but till then, let me share my "apple saga". So made an appointment; waited, and was helped by a really nice young man. I had an issue with my speaker, and he told me it was a defect and I'd need a new phone. To top it off, my screen cracked bc I dropped it while trying to put my headphones in so I could use my phone. He explained how I could get a new iPhone 6 for $300.. which at first I was about to do.... I then started getting a bit confused bc they told me they would give me $75 off bc of my phone being traded in. That story quickly changed as soon as I said I would do the $300 situation. suddenly this turned into ohhh that's $75 for your phone if you want the 7, not the 6. At that point I was completely pissed bc they lied to me- oh and not to mention, as another girl was trying to sell me a new phone, my screen suddenly got blank.... as if they did something to try to make things worse. So I left pissed off, broken phone and dissatisfied. They must have thought I was stupid or something to think I was going to give them $700 for a iPhone 7 when the 8 will be out soon. Today, I went to a wonderful store smart phone NYC in park slope- they legit fixed my so called broken speaker and also my screen, no hassle no problem no drama no bullshit. On the more than one occasion the same gentlemen was so helpful in connecting me with exactly what I needed. On my second visit I learned his name and come to find out he wasn't even in sales he was apart of the technical support team. His name is Reed and he is awesome. read more

Very Bad experience with this Apple Store. I came to buy an HomePod and to change the battery of my IPhone 6S+. When I came back to take my phone, I discovered they changed my display too (which had absolutely no problems) and they wanted to make me pay for it (something around 190 dollars). Finally they only make me pay for the battery. Just after I came back to France and I had the feeling nothing changed concerning my battery. I went to the Apple Store Marché Saint Germain in Paris (and lost 3 hours to wait) and they confirmed me very surprised that it was still the former battery. In fact i paid for something which has not been done...... After when we contacted this Apple Store about this, no apology, just telling me it was not necessary to change my battery (which was more than 2 years old and to be changed when i used an App to check it). So if you need something from Apple, go to every Apple Store except this one. Two big mistakes and only able to try to say they were not guilty in a very unpleaasnt way... read more

Bough an iPad some time ago. It just stop working for no apparent reason. Went to genius part to have it diagnosed. Without much diagnosing, guy said there was nothing to be done. Said he would give me a discount on a new one. So, I bought a new one. It came in a non-branded box that he said I could not have. I wondered if it was a refurbished one. He said he could not tell me that. Ok. 3 months later, the new one started glitching and the color faded. Brought it into the Genius Bar today. Nice guy diagnosed it and said there was nothing he could do and that I was 4 days past my 90 day warranted. He offered to sell me a new one at a discount. New one came in a non-branded box (again, you can't take the box). I passed and decided to give Microsoft surface or some other tablet a try. Seemingly, Apple makes crappy iPads and then sells what appear to be refurbished ones at a discount that end up crapping out. What happened to Apple?? read more

Went in for a replacement battery for iPhone 6 since they want us to spend $29 so they won't make our phones sluggish. They said I'd have to wait 2 weeks for a battery to be ordered. Went to a local shop and had it replaced for $25. Phone still a bit sluggish, asked for a diagnostic. They won't give me the diagnostic results since I got a battery replaced somewhere else. So now Apple is maybe slowing down my phone and won't tell me and won't take money to fix it. Next phone will not be from Apple. read more

My friends, most of whom are established scholars, say, "cell phones are another mechanism for societal control by the government." For a long time I've agreed with this, but god damnit I want so see some funny cat memes every once in a while. I arrived at the Apple Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn hoping to get my first cell phone. Upon entering, I felt like I had walked onto the Millennium Falcon. Bright flashing screens covered every square foot of the store and all of the employees were wearing the exact same royal blue uniform. The front attendant gave me a wait time of 10-15 minutes and to buy the time I made my way to the "Genius Bar" at the back of the store. Figuring I'd stir up some intellectual thought, I waved over an attendant to discuss the diminishing influence of neo-realism in the cinema. "How may I help you today?" The Genius Bar associate, Rosie, greeted me. I began to dive into the changing representations of society since the Italian neo-realism era and how cinema had lost its influence in a progressive society. Rosie seemed quite confused by all this, "I'd be happy to help you with that today," she said, "The Iphone X has a duel lens camera that creates 12-meagapixel images." Clearly, this genius was no match for this stimulating conversation, but I pressured her more just to see. "Bicycle Thieves...ever heard of it?" I asked. Rosie's eyes blinked five times and small white puffs of smoke began rising from her head. Then, her back collapsed forward and her arms fell limp. Another Genius Bar attendant, Sally, came over and pushed Rosie to a back room. "I'm sorry sir," Sally explained, "Rosie's not feeling well today. How can I help you?" I proceeded to explain, "Well, the representation of the lower-class is now a complete afterthought in cinema. Do you agree?" Sally's hazel brown eyes turned a mocha brown and her stare fell blank. "The Iphone X has a new face ID function that analyzes over 30,000 dots. Here look!" Sally shoved a phone in my face to show me. It was blatant that the genius bar was no match for me and so I kindly thanked Sally for her time and left the area. Finally, an attendant from the the floor visited me and I treated myself to a refurbished IPhone VII. While the lack of intellectual thought at the Genius Bar is a bit disturbing, I can confidently tell you an unlimited stream of cat memes made it worth my efforts. read more

Rude staff and manager. I've used Apple devices my entire life, and had great service until this time. After I had to buy a new phone because my iPhone 7 stopped working (for reasons out of my control and due to Apple's software), I came to this store after the front glass broke TWICE in 10 days. I thought it fit to complain after I'd already paid $200 for repairs the first time, as I have never had an issue with the screen cracking before, but I was completely dismissed and told it was all my fault. When I refuted and made note that the phone is highly breakable due to its glass exterior, I was immediately greeted with an upfront refutation. The manager noted that it's a far more durable phone than previous iPhone models (despite my shattered phone right before her eyes.) Employees told me conflicting information, which lead to further frustration. One told me I'd be able to trade in this phone, another lie was that I could purchase Apple Care on the spot and pay the $29 phone screen replacement. I was then "set straight" by a manager who was less than helpful, or understanding, and ultimately all this store or staff see is the bottom line. Apple, you can afford to provide better service than this, and to confirm this will be my final iPhone purchase. read more

This location honestly has the worst customer service. Thank goodness for Apple having products that sell themselves, because the interaction I had with an employee blew my mind. I was trying to purchase an Apple TV while on the phone with my boyfriend who was directing me on which one to get, an employee was also helping me at the same time...as I was on the phone with my boyfriend it felt like things were getting lost in translation between the 3 of us, so I kindly asked the employee that was helping me if he wouldn't mind just speaking to my boyfriend over the phone to understand exactly what I was supposed to purchase. He said no, like he was too cool to do such a thing. I was seriously shocked...I'm not saying he had to do what I asked, but I also work in customer service and I personally would never say no to a request like that if I saw a customer having trouble. It was just really weird that he wouldn't take that extra step to help me out and make sure I left with the correct product. I left there feeling pretty shitty to be honest. I am not the only one who thinks the customer service at this location has gone downhill, please try harder, it costs you nothing to be nice. read more

I turned up 20 minutes ago (7:50pm on 4/18) having made a Genius Bar appointment at the wrong Apple Store. Whoever the lady was with bright dyed pink short dreadlock hair who I guess was the greeter - was not exactly giving me a warm greeting. Once I was able to get her attention, I told her my phone was broken and that I had a Genius Bar appointment and that it was weird because the online appointment was made at a time after the store closing hours, so I decided to come in. The lady in a very matter of fact way told me that "no I don't have an appointment because they were closing and she doesn't have my name in the list". She told me I have two options: I could "get on the wait list" but they are not taking any more names on the wait list or I could make another appointment. I told her that it sounds like I only have one option and she got offended and told me that I was making fun of her when really I wanted to get an understanding of all my options. I did a run down of my options again to eliminate whether I could be seen by someone tonight and she kept telling me I had two options. It was really confusing and very quickly I felt like we were in some confrontation. He colleague soon joined her and she felt empowered to raise her voice assertively to say that I had two options and that I was trying to make fun of her. I instantly felt two things 1. I felt like I was some kind of trouble maker and she was one step from calling security and 2. infuriated because I was already frustrated to have a broken phone (not her fault) and all she was doing was repeating how I had two options. This lady may be some kind of saint in her personal life and may be some incredibly knowledgeable Apple Genius. But let me give you one Apple customer's feedback that this was a pretty negative experience. This Apple Genius/greeter may have stronger skills elsewhere that don't involve being the first Genius that customers come into contact with. read more

I flew thousands of miles to see an performance here, but the staffs were really unfriendly and asked me to get away.

A month later I changed the battery of my phone, and I do not know what my phone started to cause problems. They told me they were going to give me a new phone, but I should wait, because I did not have my model in stock. I waited for more than a month to get in touch with what they did not do, I went back to the store and they said that I had arrived and that they would exchange my Cel. I waited for almost 1 hour, then they said that they needed to analyze my phone that they could not reset my phone before an analysis. mine is a 6 plus 64 GB. I got a 6 with 16GB I stayed a week without being able to download my programs. They called me today saying that my phone was ready and to my surprise they did not make my phone. I went to Apple to change a battery and I was left without my phone. I work with people and I had the worst service I ever had in a store. including the 2 Managers who attended me. And no money to buy a new one. Sad! read more

Terrible customer service. I spoke to the greeter about my problem: I said, "I purchased a new phone and need to login to iCloud, however it was sending the verification code to a number I didn't recognize. I couldn't get the code to continue the iCloud login. I had spoken to Apple over the phone. They said there was nothing to be done- would have to set up a new account." At this point, the greeter said that whoever would help would end up calling Apple anyway, so there was nothing this location could do for me. I asked to speak with someone about iCloud and she walked away for five minutes. When she returned she said sorry, no one can help you with your problem. You need to go online and research on the Apple website how to fix it. I again asked to speak with anyone who knew about iCloud - and she said that they wouldn't be able to help me. I walked out very frustrated! I called Apple support again and explain my issue. A tech-support lady helped me for about 40 minutes, and then we realize there was extremely simple fix. All I needed to do was use my old phone that was logged in already on iCloud and go in under settings and hit an icon that sent a new verification number. This was so simple! So I went back to the Apple Store and explained to the greeter how it was a very easy fix and I would've appreciated being helped by a person at the store. There was absolutely no apology, just a very angry stare in return. read more

I had a fantastic experience today getting my iPhone replaced. They are constantly booked up here, so you'll probably have to wait a couple days, but hey, it is what it is. Wow, what a non-Apple store experience. Staff was horrible, rude, not friendly, not helpful. But they are being lead by a store manager who has the same attitude. I expect more from Apple Stores. Its products are expensive and the store customer service should reflect the price customers pay for Apple goods. I was in the Manhattan store the day before, the one near Central Park and they were friendly, but busy. Sorting through a box to find a 7 plus screen protector only to be looked down upon by that awful woman with dread locks was not how I envisioned my Apple interaction. Sad Sad.
