I've had Apple Valley Waste as my waste management service since I moved here in 2006. I've never had a complaint about the service. Trash and recycling pickup has always been timely and the times when it couldn't be because of snow or ice, a phone message has been sent out letting folks know. The call back service that customer service provides if lines are busy is a nice feature. The folks I've spoken with have always been helpful and polite. Awful! Trash pickup was inconsistent. They missed 4 weeks in the past 2 months. I canceled the service almost 3 weeks ago and went with another provider. I am still waiting for them to pick up their cans. I called 3 times. The last time was on Friday, and they said they would get them on Monday. It's now Wednesday, and they are still there. read more

Customer service flat out lies and will blame a new driver on the route on missed pickups, then promises they will be out the next day and never they never show. Expensive and unreliable. They added a $25.48 fuel surcharge to the last bill. Last I checked, fuel prices have went down, and are lower than when there was no fuel surcharge on the bill. Researching other options, and will be leaving them as soon as I find one. read more

I sent up a new service with Apple Valley Waste in August and my rep was very helpful but there was an issue with setting up the account. The rep got ahold of someone named Daniel at the Baltimore location and not only did Daniel call me right away and fix whatever the issue was, but he also stated my dumpster would be delivered the same day and it was! I have never spoken to someone at a company that wanted to ensure I as the customer was not only taken care of but also completely satisfied. He reached out to me yesterday just to make sure I was still happy with the service and if there was anything else he could do to support my business. Amazing! read more

They stink more than the trash that gets left out and not picked up EVERY time. We have spent $300 for essentially worthless service. They have missed pickups 3 times in the span of 3-4 months that we've been at our residence. When did come out, they LITERALLY left a bag that was out on the ground (due to the can being full since THEY were the ones who missed the pickup and it had to go into the 2nd week.) **Instead, they SERIOUSLY left a note on our can saying to not leave trash on the ground. Umm..it was one bag and that's because the can was full. But they are going to take the time to leave a note and not get the bag, OR the other can that was right beside the large trash can. Bags have never been left out like that before. So I don't know if they were trying to be pissy and make a point of no garbage on the ground but it's been horrendous and so dumb and petty with them. If you try to call them, you can't get a hold of the main office. Instead it's a call center. When we asked to get a hold of them directly since we had already called in 2x's for trash to be picked up after the miss, the lady simply said she'd email them. Yeah, ok... Billing is awful and very confusing, and when you call, they can't even explain it ! i recently tried to place my service on a seasonal hold and what a fiasco. was not given credit for the last two paid months of the year, and then was billed for another 6 weeks of service because service couldn't be placed on hold unless I paid a yearly fee and then they could put credit on my account !!!! So you want to use my money for free ????? Canceled my service that I've had for over 25+ years and went with the competitor. I was unaware that I could schedule bulk pick ups and more importantly, other than the flat screen tv, it was free! This was so very helpful, as I really did not have the money to pay for it either at home or at the dump. I have requested that my extra trash receptacle be picked up three weeks in a row. The Custome Service Representative has ensured me that the Operations Manager has been notified and has reported that it was accomplish twice now. Awaiting response once again to see when and if this will be accomplished. I have also requested the contact information of the Operations Manager's Supervisor. Multiple times AVW have dropped the ball and not collected our trash. Their teams are messy and frankly lazy. After we take the time and separate our trash and recycling; AVW just collects it all into the same truck. I am honestly not surprised that people are getting other providers: I am glad we moved away so we don't have to deal with their incompetence anymore. read more

Apple Valley Waste took over our collection maybe 4-5 years ago. Their price continues to increase and service decreases! When they p/u neighbors trash 3ft from mine, and do not get mine (yes my bill is paid), their excuse is we have a new guy! No refund...just we will get it NEXT week! It was already a day late being picked up and there was no text, email or post stating a delay. Sadly, they know they are the only service provider in Morgan County, so they can charge what they want, and provide subpar service and get away with it. Quite literally the worst garbage company I have ever seen. They are inconsiderate, unreliable, and only want your money. If you use their services, you should expect to be woken up every time they come to take your trash by them banging your cans and slamming things around. You can expect that any loose trash, like tissues, water bottles, or literally ANYTHING, that falls from your cans will be left on the ground because they don't pick it up once it hits the ground. You can expect that if there is a holiday on Monday, your trash pickup on any other day that week WILL NOT HAPPEN. They don't care that your pick up is Wednesday and the holiday was Monday, you can expect your trash not to be picked up that week. They have no regard for their customers, they take so much of your money and have nothing to show for it. Do yourself a favor and AVOID APPLE VALLEY WASTE AT ALL COSTS. I have had no issue with their pickups.. but the rate hikes in the past 4 years have sent up a red flag. I bought my house in June 2018 and it did take them several weeks to get me my trashcan, and that was after I called them about it. I was paying ~$73/quarter, and they have increased several times in recent years... most recent notice was my march invoice saying it is now over $93/quarter. I get the gas price increases in past year, but this was a $5/quarter increase for that, if they want to blame it on gas costs. I have used this service for several years with great reliability and accountability. Recently, the service has been unreliable. From we are short staffed, to it's a holiday, to the roads were bad. I do not want my garbage setting from week to week without being picked up from my home! For years service was stellar. Now, not so much! Why? I live in rural Jefferson County West Virginia. Apple Valley Waste has provided trash and recycling service to our home for over eight years now. There have been regular but manageable issues for years, and we just lived with it. Today, only about a third of my recycling was picked up, they left the rest of it in my front yard, and I was absolutely baffled. I tried to call, and it took me quite a while to get through to a person. When I did finally speak to a person, they notified me that I have always had a "one can limit" for recycling. When I pointed out that this had never been an issue before in over eight years, including times when I had an entire winter's worth of recycling out on the first nice day of the season, the person continued to regurgitate that that must've been an error on the part of the drivers, and that they had all been fired. I made it clear that it wasn't a one time thing where we had put out lots of recycling, it was a regular thing, as we don't put out the recycling every single week because sometimes the weather doesn't allow for it. I was escalated to a supervisor, who regurgitated the same kind of company bureaucracy, saying that it's policy and it's beyond their control. I continued to call nonsense, because it literally *never* happened before today in 8 1/2 years. When I pointed out that I had never even been issued this *can* that they were referring to, that I had only ever been issued small recycling bins, they said they would drop off a can. It would be one thing if they simply said their policy changed, and they were straightforward and honest about it. That kind of gaslighting where they tell you that your experience couldn't have possibly been true, and the policy it always been there all along? Yeah, no. Our rates certainly have gone up, but the service has gone down down down down down. It used to be possible to get through to someone directly in the office, and now they have some crappy answering service that doesn't know anything. We are actively seeking to move out of this area, and I honestly can't wait to never have to deal with this horrible company ever again. At this point, it would be easier to simply take our recycling to a grocery store that has recycling inside than deal with this nonsense. Very poor customer service and service! I contacted them to let them know I would no longer be needing their service for trash due to moving. I also asked them to schedule pickup for the bulk items I had as well as the remaining trash after I moved. I paid my bill for February and March, and I contacted them on March 8, 2024, to say stop service as of March 31 and to schedule bulk pickup. They contacted me saying bulk pickup would be March 14 that Thursday, and my final bill was due April 8. Paid final bill March 30. As of March 30, nobody came to pick up my bulk items or trash. I contacted them to let them know nobody picked up. No response. I again, 3rd time, contacted them, and no response. Took my money for final bills and got no service. It's as if they don't care as long as they get paid and fall off the face of the earth with no response. This isn't the 1st time I called for bulk items since being with Apple, and it was not picked up, and trash was not picked up. And to pay and not get services expected. Unacceptable!! read more

If I could leave ZERO STARS, I would. Used this trashy trash company for the past four years due to no other option. Company had weird, unpredictable hours and left trash strewn about our yard and driveway every single time. Apparently they came in the night and stole the red trash can I KNOW we purchased from them in 2016. Called just now and spoke to the rep about the matter, and she said very condescendingly they "don't sell their trash cans." I know it's a lie and that we purchased the trash can. This is (was) the most crooked, unreliable company I've ever worked with. My mother is 91 years old. Just about everytime they pick up the trash, they leave the empty can in the middle of the road with the lid open to fill up with water! Got home around 8:15 am on Tuesday 12/31/19 after going out for breakfast. They had already been by and did the pick up for my development. They never come that early. They usually come between 11 am and 1 pm. I do not set my trash out the night before because of animals getting into it, so I set it out Tuesday morning. I missed the pick up. they did not show up often especially during the winter time. I was constantly getting voicemails, saying they didn't have enough people to help pick up. When I wanted to cancel, they told me I couldn't cancel without telling them what my next Trash Company Pl. was going to be and show an actual receipt of payment to new place. Then when I called and I told them that I needed to cancel and I wasn't going to tell them when my next company was going to be, they told me it was policy. I went back-and-forth with five emails then I called to speak to a supervisor and she said she was not available. She'll have to call me back. I called the police because everything seems fishy. They said I'd have to take them to Civil court. When I spoke to other people in neiborhood , they had numerous issues with them as well. The service has been being delayed, not knowing when they will come now. I tried cancelling on the phone, and they make you do it on line. My girlfriends house was caught in a divorce settlement the house sat empty for 9 months. She recieved a bill for the past due amount for said 9 months after moving back in. We called apple vally waste and asked is there any contract agreement under trash services? They replied " NO you are not under contract". So how can you charge for 9 months of trash that you didnt pick up if there is no contract? AVW responded we charge the same as a water bill or electric bill. APW is despicable. We missed 2 payments because of unemployment. Our service was suspended, so our property became a "junkyard" of sorts. We paid the arrears off and had one pickup of one container then were billed over $200. Customer Service was uncaring, unhelpful, rude, and robotic -- no humanity whatsoever. They said we have to pay for the unsuspended time. We refuse to pay for services not rendered. We quit, and they promptly removed their four containers off our property after I wrote them a letter. Since March ...its now almost July, I have to call and ask why our trash and several neighbors have not been picked up. They accuse you of not putting it out on time. Mine is out before dark the night before. It takes several calls, emails, each week to get service. In the meantime our trash is overflowing, animals get into it. The customer service representatives were nice but unfortunately my problem was not resolved. Our community has trash pick up on Wednesday's after the pick up I noticed piles of trash on multiple streets from where the truck had compacted and trash had fallen out. I contacted Apple Valley Waste on Thursday and was told I would get a call back. I didn't. I called again Friday and was told they would be right out to clean it up again nothing. It is now Monday I called again and this time was told I would have to wait until Wednesday for them to clean it up. We are a big community with a lot of children. There is glass screws and other waste everywhere!! I will be switching to another company. I am also encouraging our whole community to do the same! read more

They pick up 2 large items per month and recycle plastics and metals = win/win.

They consistently pick up trash, however they could do much better with recycling. This is not an isolated event, but they don't show up until late in the afternoon to pick up recycling. If it is a windy day forget it, the bottles are all over the neighborhood. I have to call them to ask if they are going to pickup but always put on hold and no one picks up. I leave notes for them and usually someone gets back to me. Another thing that is troublesome is that I've seen them use regular trash trucks to pickup recycling. I wonder if this is really being recycled??? read more
