Because 11 of our 150+ year old oaks were topped 35 years ago by previous owners, we have extensive experience with tree services. In the past few years, we have had Craig and his crew from Evergreen Tree Service here several times, usually with their crane because of the size of the job. They are prompt, honest, hard working, extremely experienced and cleanup is excellent. Service: A few years ago, one of our giant oaks near the highway fell and just the crown of it closed both lanes of the highway. While the police were trying to get responders from VDOT, I called Evergreen to see if they could come out in the next week for an emergency. Within 20 minutes I saw Craig walking down the line of backed up cars with a chainsaw and a big smile. He had that crown cut up and the road unblocked in about 1/2 hour. Evergreen then rearranged their schedule to come back 2 days later to get the trunk and the rest of the crown which had trapped all but one of our cars in the driveway. The cheaper alternative would have required a lift that wouldn't have fit in the space, so I'm thinking the cheaper bid would have become more expensive when it came down to it. Anyway, Roger and his large crew showed up 15 minutes early, checked in with us, and got to work. They had one climber, who I watched move and check his ropes every time after he made a cut, and the rest of the guys kept busy cutting the sections on the ground and hauling the pieces out to their wood chipper. Roger even offered to get rid of some other junk branches (from the slow death period) that we'd put in the back yard. I am impressed with their attention to safety, work ethic, and end result. The trees were ridiculously messy and not a good choice for a wind break. Ben and his crew came out and knocked the job out for us very quickly. The price was more than fair for the labor involved. And, because they did such a fantastic job, I've hired them to continue with our plans for tree removal throughout our acres. Ben was willing to speak with me about every concern and detail I wished to cover. That's how you know they're true professionals. They aren't afraid to hear a customer's voice. So, as I've already stated, they've removed 16 trees for us, next week we're scheduled for 10 more. After that, I'll be getting the estimate for even more. I'm confident I won't be disappointed.
