How bout those glass stairs ! This place has serious design appeal. Never owned a phone or computer in my life. Now I need a phone and laptop. Problem is I am an unreconstructed luddite who has trouble working a calculator. I'm nervous, its going to be very easy to confuse me, ask my name and I'll get flustered. Enter the shop, people everywhere, blue shirts, lanyards and people who seem likely to wear more than 13 pieces of flair. I nearly left in a state of anxiety. Angus S to the rescue. Calm and smart, turns out his Mum was our next door neighbour for twenty years when I was growing up. Off to a good start. My questions aren't so stoopid, this is not so hard. Now he sets me up with a world wide interweb address and its really cool - its got my name in it and its really short and catchy, I've got a short name, shorter than some peoples initials. Angus finds me a phone number that has heaps of 4s and 0s that I can actually remember. Then he sets me all up in a cloud! (he reckons its actually in Pyrmont) , I can do this - it works, it all syncs ! Any problems and he answers them. Downloads Word etc.. no problems. I'm in business, on the air in less than half an hour. I absolutely love my Macbook Air, I love my phone and i don't feel like an i goose. No doubt I am using both at about 4% of their capability but I'll get there. read more

Genius bar has proven to me that they have provided their customer the worst service ever. I had an appointment at 11.20 AM on Tuesday, and i arrived their, jumped in the line, and waited for about 20 minutes, then i were checked in, and be told that the genius bar is running behind the schedule. I then waited for 40 minutes, no one call out my name. I asked a lady there, and i were informed that, my name wasn't on the list. That is so ridiculous. She then put me on something called a "waiting list" and promised that she will keep an eye on me. I waited for about another 40 minutes, nothing was happen, i asked another gentlemen behind me, and i were told that, my reservation was re-scheduled to 1:00 PM. So BADDD After sitting there and waiting for almost 2 hours, my case was taken to the bar. At first, i were asked that what has happen to the phone. I just honestly explained the problem, in that, the screen has not been sitting right on the frame, the front camera does not function properly, and the phone sometime was not responsive. The lady at the bar firstly started looking at the camera, she took couple of picture, and i tried to claim the light that i have had at home is not bright enough as the camera is clear, and nothing wrong with it. HOWEVER, she then got confused when i handed to her my other iphone, which is the identical model with my sicked iphone to take another picture and compare those two iphone. Even a normal person who know nothing about technology can tell the different, one is so natural, one is not. She decided to do not say any further about the camera and in stead, she turned around and looked at the screen, which has been improperly sitting on the frame. In that, the top right corner of the screen just pop out of the frame, and sometime i have to push it back on, otherwise the phone would not be responsive. The lady was then seen to be incapable of doing her job properly, she kept on asking another guy sitting next to her. This guy then told her to take my phone to the lab and see whether it is because the battery has been swollen. Just 30 second after that, she came back the pointed to me a crash on the frame, and claimed that it is what caused my screen to pop out. She said that the phone was dropped or hit, and i have to pay around 200 bucks to replace the screen. HOWEVER, that sounded so unprofessional. If the phone was dropped or hit hard enough, the screen would not be pop out, BUT it would be cracked. FURTHERMORE, the crash that she shown to me was just too small to be persuasive. Her claim was totally unreasonable. it was not any evident to support her claim. She also did not fully examine the phone, a 30 second test did not mean anything. All the time i spent there was a waste due to her lack of knowledge and incapability. Hopefully, Apple will soon acknowledge the situation. read more

I have just left the Apple Store on 367 George St (during my lunch break on 4th May, 2016) and I have to say that I received very rude customer service from this guy in a green shirt today: http://imgur.com/GGzFpFL I had been waiting for about five minutes to buy a new iPad Pro ( AU$1,000+) and 2-3 "green shirts" who passed me by had been too busy to help, but were pleasant enough to deal with. Ultimately I asked the guy in this photo if I could speak to someone about buying something and I received some pretty unsatisfactory customer service: I asked, "Hi, I was wondering if I could speak to someone about buying this iPad". He replied out of the side of his face, "Maybe, it depends ...". I had one question about how new it was and he pivoted and left the conversation mid-sentence, saying from the back of his head, "Someone will be with you .....". I decided to set the timer on my iWatch for four minutes, after which, I took a photo of him and left the store. However, what irked me enough to write feed this back to you kind folk on Yelp was that as I passed him on the way out, he was joking and having a laugh with one of his mates who was clearly just visiting. Not happy Apple. You need to ensure your staff insist on higher standards and put the customer at the centre of everything they do. I will purchase this Apple product, but not from this store on George St. read more

Absolutely bloody awful. Will never go back. As a reward to myself for completing a pretty tough year of university, I went into the Apple store in Sydney city to buy a Macbook pro. I was pretty excited, because I've never had a decent laptop before, and I've never had an Apple product of any kind before. First problem: every single one of the machines on display was being used by someone to watch movies or check their email, so I couldn't actually look at one. Second problem: I stood in the middle of the store for about 5 - 10 minutes trying to catch the eye of a staff member. Nothing. Eventually I asked someone to help me. He was about to do a presentation of some kind, so didn't have a lot of time. He kind of rushed me through the process, but was helpful, and answered my only two questions; 'Can I upgrade the RAM' and 'Will it play Minecraft' with 'yes'. He sent me through to someone else at the counter to actually buy the machine. They took my payment and told me that someone would call me when the RAM upgrade was done. His actual words were 'We say it will take two hours, but it never takes that long. We'll call you.' So I went away to do other stuff for a while. Third problem: After three hours I hadn't received a call, so I just went back and asked whether the upgrade had been done. It took about 20 minutes for someone to bring me my machine and five or so Apple staff members hovered around me for another 10 minutes or so babbling about how they weren't sure whether the upgrade had been done. Eventually they stopped fussing and just opened the box and looked at the system specs. No, there was no upgrade. More fussing. Fourth problem: someone got the manager, whose idea of managing the situation was to come up to me, shake me hand, then say 'So your machine wasn't upgraded? Who sold you it?' I told her the name of the guy who sold me the machine, the one who had said he would call me and didn't, the one who messed up in some way that resulted in no one knowing anything about the paid for upgrade. The manager went and got this numbskull who I was already fairly resentful at to be the one to do the 'personal setup'. I was pretty seriously flabbergasted that she should get the person who effed up my whole transaction really badly to be the one to teach me how to use an Apple for the first time. I should mention here that a couple of people hovering during this time showed signs of wanting to get me out of the store by doing the 'personal setup' process with me, but pretty quickly faded out and barely concealed their frustration when I explained I had NEVER used an Apple ("No, not even an iPhone.") product before. So the guy who had screwed up in the first place is trying to help me. He goes off to get the upgrade that I requested nearly four hours ago. I sit there for another ten minutes. He comes back with the upgraded machine. He goes away again. I am annoyed and late by this time, so I start to fiddle around with the machine to try and figure out how to get an Apple ID by myself. He comes back and is patronising about the way I have tried to go about this. I am silent, reflecting that if someone competent had been there and shown me how to do it half an hour ago as should have happened, I wouldn't have had to try and figure it out myself. He asks me if I am 'confused'. At this stage, I say that I am leaving. I now have a $1300 machine that I don't really know how to use, many unanswered questions, and profound regret that I fell for the hype. By the way, it DOES NOT play Minecraft properly, there is an apparently well known problem with the sound in Minecraft and Macs. This was the worst retail experience I have ever had. I walked out feeling like shit and like I got cheated. Three years ago, when I bought an $800 HP machine from the Good Guys, I walked out feeling like I got a good deal, and I had support from the retailer. I have no idea how the Apple store staff managed to get it so wrong with me, especially given the emphasis they place on customer service in their advertising etc, but I'm certainly not getting another Mac when this one carks it. read more

The screen on my iPad mini cracked so I went in to purchase a new mini or an iPad Pro. Although I ended up buying an iPad Pro, the service was HORRIBLE! The worst I've experienced at an Apple store anywhere on the globe. The salesman knew nothing of the distinction between the mini and the IPad Air and the technician that was assigned to help me set it up never bothered to assist. He wasn't even aware that I could set up the new IPad Pro with my phone. Apple is good. Apple Sydney sucks! read more

Visiting the Sydney Apple Retail Store in Wynyard is certainly an experience. For those who love gadgets and electronics, this store is for you. You can't miss it- it's lit up at night and has hoards of customers walking through its doors in the day. When new ipads and iphones are launched, customers camp out in front of the store for days on end- just so they can secure the latest gadget before anyone else in Sydney, and possibly even Australia. This is the biggest store they have in Sydney and they therefore have a full range of products and plenty of stock. The store is very interactive and the staff are available to help you with the sale. read more

The only Apple Store where the staff are not arrogant. We were greeted with honest smiles and offered assistance. We asked about an issue we were experiencing with the iPhone 6+ and were directed to the Genius Bar. When we said our appointment wasn't for another few days, we were told to just go upstairs and see what they could do. Once at the Genius Bar, Jenna assisted us and resolved the issue in under 5 minutes. At any other Apple Store, especially in Southern California, we have never had this type of experience. Absolutely satisfied with the customer service and efficiency of the Genius Bar. I was a walk in on 6/3/16 and was expecting to wait hours to talk to a staff member. I was told it would be about a 20 min wait, which was fine by me, as I was a walk-in. I only had to wait 2min to speak to a staff member. I had water damage on my iPhone from the states, the gentlemen found me a refurbished phone in Bondi, called to put it on hold, and off I went to pick it up. Just purchased my Iphone Max. Long waiting backup process, stayed here more than 3 hours . Some staffs very rude, not allow to use bathroom, directed me to Mcdonald. My 5th purchase of Iphone this year, I have different unhappy encounter with the rude staffs. I recommend Apple to upgrade staff standard in term of their knowledge, manner and altitude towards customer as your product price increases each year. OK Apple.. after 1.5 weeks, two ignored emails and two promised call backs not made you've forced my hand and i guess i'll share my feedback here.. This email was sent to the apple store on Tuesday May 8... as at 16/05 i've had no response. pretty shameful Hi, I'm writing to express some feedback about my visit to your store on Monday May 7, overall it was a pretty disgraceful experience and i'm still a little annoyed at myself for not waiting and making my almost 2.5K in purchases somewhere more deserving and customer oriented. I'm interested in your response and would appreciate one, preferably more than a bland, standard apology. 1. Genius Bar - i booked into the genius bar a week or so ago as i'm having issues with both my iphone4 (home button and touch screen are often unresponsive, speed is very slow, several apps often crash) and my ageing macbook. The laptop was more pressing but couldn't see anyone. 2. I couldn't get help as i'd booked a phone appointment and you can't do two devices in one appt... though your booking system doesn't say so. It does route you by device but no indication you can't do two in one. I even noted in the comments of the appointment that i had two devices to be looked at, but clearly these mean nothing or i guess someone would have flagged it before i arrived and contacted me. 3. Decided not wait around as the bar was behind & although my appt was at 6.10 it was clear it was going to be a while (this is normal for the genius bar though and i've waited up to 40mins past my booked time in the past) You're booking system / website should be more specific and advise that if you have more than one device or issue that 2 sep appointments, one for each device needs to be made. You can imagine my frustration when told i couldn;t see anyone, and in fact all the mac guys finished at 6 so "sorry, i know it's annoying but we can't do anything and you'll have to make another appointment" I left the genius bar and went downstairs to look at laptops as my existing one is on it's last legs (or so i think, who know what advice i would have gotten). I stood for around 5 min on the middle level with no assistance while watching 4 staff members chatting to each other, and /or playing with devices, tidying up.. not looking around for customers. I deliberately stood against the back bench, facing the room, not looking at devices so i didn't look like a browser and so someone would approach me. (actually it shouldn't matter whether i'm browsing or not, staff should approach you though from experience i know they don't if you are playing with anything) After not being acknowledged by anyone i went down stairs to ground level. Again i stood against the wall, this time looking at the ipads against the back wall comparing prices, features etc. After a few minutes of not being approached, i went back to standing against the wall. I watched * one staff member joking around (laughing, gesturing etc.. it was not a serious conversation) with the security guard near the front door * another standing by the rail at the front watching the other two and his watch * another, who was admittedly helping someone, walk up to the devices beside me with their customer. Other than a couple of sideways looks at me there was no recognition from her that i was there & needed help (i've always trained and expected my staff to at least acknowledge the person, or get someone to help, if you are busy.. doesn't seem apple has the same basic customer service expectations). After another 5 minutes i was about to leave, really annoyed... All i wanted from my visit was my current macbook looked at in the genius bar appointment and, depending on the result help as i was considering buying a new macbook.... great experience so far James, one of the useful staff on last night, who had just finished helping someone, walked by and actually approached me and was able to help. Martin was also helpful in setting up the macbook, though he didn't really listen to any questions i had about syncing my existing settings / software and didn't have many answers. Great for set up, but no real knowledge or help beyond that. 1. I was unsatisfied, pretty disgusted last night and moreso thanks to the sea of staff i was being ignored by as they entertained themselves and each other. 2. Still i was stupid enough to spend $2320 last night on ipad & cover, macbook pro, Microsoft office software, phone cover even though i received such appaulling service As i said earlier, i'm interested in your response and feel you should know what's not being delivered in your store. OK so it is no secret that Apple is not a local business but it is nonetheless worthy of a review. Apple products are par to none and the same goes for the service. I walked in to Apple the other day with a shot computer. Now, they have a service system called the 'Genius Bar' where an Apple genius will take a look at your problem Apple product and try to fix the issue on the spot, free of charge. All you need to do is book an appointment online. Problem is, when you have a broken laptop it is sort of difficult to do this. I decided to chance it and walk in to the store to seek some help. I was greeted and told the Genius Bar was booked for the next couple days but in the same breath I was asked what the problem was as maybe somebody else could help. I went about showing what the issue was and in a flash - FIXED! The guys took genuine concern about my issue and really did everything they could to fix it. I LOVE Apple for this reason - everybody who works at Apple has a true passion for the product. It is the best service for any brand in town. read more

Patronising 'geniuses'. The whole customer experience in the store is frustrating and they need to revisit the process of how they deal with people who are a few minutes late to an appointment and walk-ins. Nothing happens to them when they are running behind or late for their appointments. The issues were not fixed on my computer even though I am still under warranty and forget about trying to call them - you'll be redirected to an American call centre and it'll be at least 30 minutes before you get in the hold line for a domestic call centre to repeat your situation to for the 4th time. All in all I'm forced to rate them 1/5 even though they deserve 0. Never had an issue with Apple in the past - but then again, never had to suffer through their customer service. I'd say, the staff is friendly enough to provide all the necessary information about the products. They're not pushy, if you don't buy the product, it's okay with them. Also, many people gather here to use free wifi and test latest gadgets. A good place to hang around, chances are, you can find some tech-freaks like yourself and discuss technology for hours. read more

Beautiful store. However they dropped the ball on the quality of the employees. Had an employee in sales fumble with my iPad 3, dropped it on the table. In addition to this this employee was unhelpful (I think I was practically answering my own questions about the product) + bitchiness ?
