A V O I D the "Genius" Bar here! I purchased the iPhone XS shortly after it came out and had an issue with the audio that required it to be swapped. Basically, calls taken on speaker I'd cut out. I'd have to toggle from speaker back to handset, back to speaker and it would fix it. The swapped device was fine until it started doing something similar except one day toggling stopped working and people just flat out couldn't hear me. Over time I also stopped being able to hear people as well, which made it extremely hard to have phone calls because on speakerphone I can hear you, but you can't hear me. Handset, you can hear me but I can't hear you. I spoke to Apple about this on numerous occasions for months and they refused to swap my device again unless I made an appointment at the Apple Store. So they made an appointment here. The Hell on Earth Inn. The first time I came here, they ran a diagnostics on my phone and it failed pretty much every audio part. Come to find out all audio (mics/speakers) near the Face ID camera were blown. The "genius" tells me that had it been the bottom speaker/mic, they would be able to instantly swap the device, but because it's the top, they have to attempt a repair. He says they need an hour. This store is notorious for overpromising and underdelivering when it comes to quoting anything relevant to time (including appointments, repair times, etc). So I decline and explain I don't have all day to be wandering around North Star, I have AppleCare and I'm still making payments on the phone so I want to swap it. He goes and talks to a manager and comes back and tells me it's going to $99 if I do that and I'll have to use an AppleCare+ accidental claim. I explain to him it's not due to accidental damage its due to a defect I didn't cause, so why would I pay you an additional $99 on top of the over $1000 I paid you for the phone initially and $300 for warranty? He basically says he's going to create the repair and if I change my mind I have five days to come back. Needless to say life and work happened and I didn't make it back in five days and the problem persisted. I ended up calling Apple several more times, got escalated all the way up to Consumer Relations and they dropped and ball on following up. Mind you, I can only talk on the phone when I'm around bluetooth devices, so eventually I talk myself into just paying the $99 to get this resolved. I call, speak to a senior advisor and explain this has been going on for months and I let them know I think it's crap that you're taking full advantage of me by charging me for a defective device but at this point where we stand is I have a $1600 phone (iPhone + Warranty) that does everything EXCEPT be a phone. When they schedule my follow-up appointment here at North Star, they're running over 20 minutes behind. You get thrown on this little table with other people who you can tell have been there for a while and are at the end of their rope but at the mercy of Apple (because how else are you going to get your device working again)? So it's an interesting dynamic. For sales and people looking to buy something, we're over-staffed. For people who have already bought something we get thrown on this little table in the "already got their money" section and there's clearly not enough staffing (you even had people walking out). The "genius" (different from the first time btw) comes over and I can see on the iPad my last visit, the diagnostic results, etc. yet he does everything ALL OVER AGAIN. Isn't the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results? Nonetheless, I've been there for close to an hour and I have an appointment coming up so I tell the guy, look - I'm ready to pay the $99 and get on with life. He looks shocked and says he needs to go speak to a manager and he comes back and tells me the manager declined to allow me to pay to replace my device. YES. You heard that right. The manager. In a retail store. Refused a customers money when the customer shouldn't have had to pay anyway! At this point I leave furious and call Apple and request a Senior Advisor I go OFF. And I ask why is it everyone's been offering me to pay $99 and when I finally talk myself into paying it, it's not an option on the table, yet it's been an option this whole time? I explain this back and forward has been going on for months and I'm still making payments on the device and warranty and it's not even working. She calls the store and speaks to the manager and relays that she's told them to set aside a device and to allow me to swap the device and waive the $99. TWO AND A HALF MONTHS. To resolve this issue. THREE store visits. God knows how many phone calls. And they wonder why iPhone sales are down?! read more

My first visit to an Apple store ever! OMG the anxiety. I already had an appointment prior to arriving which made it easy and less of a wait for speaking to an employee. Upon entering you will see an abundance of people. Employees, shoppers and window shoppers. There was about 30 employees or more working and about 100 people inside the facilities. To me it was entering a Black Friday shopping spree. Nope it was just an Apple store. OMG it was so overwhelming. We submitted Apple product for service and scared to hear the price it was not too bad at all to get serviced at all. We were quoted 6-10 days and on the 9th day I was already questioning the turn around for service. Until about 730pm I received a call and email that our item was ready. I went back to the store the following day with my husband who said he never wants to go in there ever again. Hahahah he never gets overwhelmed but this time he said there was so many people in there that it sucked all his energy out of his body. Stars 1 star for staff (shout out to all the staff members that has to deal with the abundance of people on a daily basis. -star for facilities. Apple needs a bigger facilities or open another location on different parts of town. 1 over all experience excellent service one on one with an employee. 1 star for service prices. Thank goodness it didn't cost an arm and a leg for repair. 1/2 star for products available in store. read more

I have had an iPhone since the 3. I've think I've had one issue with a phone and it was replaced with no questions asked. That was around the iPhone 7. The employees and the company used to be great. They have never been as horrible as they are now. A year ago I lost an AirPod case. They screwed up and I was upset but let it go. I went in about 3-4 months ago and bought a new iPhone 14 pro max. I've had tons of issues with it. One is, it shuts down for no reason. The guy asked me to show him what it does or if I can replicate the problem. Or if I can screen record when it happens. I'm like what? You're kidding.. They said there was nothing wrong according to their diagnostics, but assure me they're on my side. Sure you are. I have apple care and they said I couldn't use it. Their solution was to do a complete reset and add all my apps back to my phone. So I can't use my apple care and you want me to reset my phone, go home and go back if it happens so they can send it in for repair if the problems continues. I haven't even had it for a year. They want me to be without my 1400.00 phone so they can repair it. Even though they didn't know what was wrong with it and said that it was not possible it was doing what I said it was doing. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. After a while I realized these people don't care about me. They are not doing what's in my best interest. I argued pointlessly thinking they would actually show some empathy. Instead of making it so hard. Give me a replacement. It's an iPhone!!!!!! Apple is hiring these people at these low wages and they are awful. Either this location is horrible or Apple doesn't care about their customers. People will still buy from them. I contacted customer service and they advised me to go to another location and my phone would be replaced. Not sure why I didn't do that in the first place. I will never walk in that store again. He was professional, kind and understanding. He never talked down to me and actually tried to build me up. When he had to step out, he made certain that Rosie took great care of me too. It's really ashamed how far Apple service has fallen. Leaning on the decades old crutch of innovation that is the iPhone it is the last thread of advantage this brand has over their competitors. I bit the bullet thinking this is probably the last time I'll feel like I paid too much and ordered the latest and greatest online with in store pickup at the North Star Mall location. Ordering over the phone was easy enough. I looked this location up on google and used the number listed there which took me to some sort of central calling service center- not the actual store. The rep, Theresa, told me my order was in and would be ready at 7:30 or earlier so I took my 74 year old mom to the mall to grab a Starbucks and stroll over to the Apple store. Only then did I find out my order wasn't slated to be fulfilled until 7:30 at the earliest but 8pm at the latest. No big deal we went to Dillard's and killed 40 minutes... returned to the store, now 8:10, and it's not ready. They had three greaters just milling around but none of them empowered to help me. They couldn't provide an ETA, let alone go get it. When I explained I couldn't delay my elderly mother any longer, could they help cancel the order the guy explained I'd have to help myself since the order wasn't placed by their store. I stated this is terrible customer service and he proceeded to tell me how he's been nothing but helpful! Lol. So on the walk out from the mall I was able to quickly cancel the order over the phone. Bottom line, with customer service no longer in play, I'll be waiting for Samsung's new announcements in a couple months, thanks North Star Apple for helping put that final nail in the coffin when it comes to me and my Apple love. read more

Normally I'm an enthusiastic Apple fan but in this case my experience with this store was less than what I've come to expect. First off, no one to great and direct at the door. This is part of their signature service. Then I had to track down and get someone to help us look at the Apple watches. Again, I've never had to seek out help, there's always someone available, no matter how crowded. Thirdly, the table had the Apple Watches out on display with removable stands but I was told not to touch or remove them. I suspect this was an unforeseen design issue but usually it's been hands on at other Apple stores. Finally, I purchased two of the top end Apple watches but they couldn't get Apple Pay to work and didn't know why? WTH? All in all a Luke warm experience. read more

I've had issues with my phone for a couple of days now. Came in yesterday waited two hours for a genius tech to tell me that he didn't find any issues and to come back if problem keeps happening. Here I am today with the same issue waiting for assistance. It call comes down to customer service. Now that all carriers are basically asking to pay for an iPhone at full price monthly payments or not! Apple should consider hiring more "Genius" people to support these issues. This is the second day that an apple employee seems to get offended when I explain all the troubleshooting has been done and problem is still going on. Cutting a customer off by answering "well thats protocol" is not cool.There is also a trust factor by making your customer feel like they are lying. I asked this individual to pull the notes and all he did was brushed me off that I should expect a text. So another two hours waiting for a genius person. hmmmm, why does a genius person take my phone to the back and tell me that they are going to open it up? and then come back showing me positive test results on an iPad. I work for a company that has invested millions of dollars with apple by providing our employees with i devices and it is sad to have to deal with this kind of customer service. FACTORY RESETING AND RELOADING THE LATEST IOS DOES NOT ALWAYS FIX THE PROBLEM. AND THEN TELLING ME TO COME BACK IF THE PROBLEM HAPPENS IS NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

I dropped off my MacBook Pro and was told it would take 3-5 days to replace the dead battery. It ended up taking nearly a month. When I brought up my displeasure with this to the apple representative during pickup, he went into an explanation that their repair facility was closed and that other repairs have also been taking longer. I won't be coming back to this store again. Long wait times just to be seen, poor customer service, and an unpleasant experience overall. At least the products are top notch. read more

Horrible service. I was quoted a flat repair fee and then "re-quoted" $430. Regardless of the fact that I was told "for $280 you will have your laptop repaired and in working condition; if we repair you will have to pay for the individual parts and it will cost more." After I declined the repair, I expected to get my laptop back in the same speedy manner that I received the "re-quote", which was 15 hours, but here it is 3 days later and I still have no laptop. When I called the location, I was rudely interrupted and told that I would be called when they had it. Horrible horrible customer service. Love my iphone but hate the apple store! If you are a pimply faced teenager with a nose-ring, green hair and tatoos you can stop reading this here because I will just sound like a grumpy old fart to you . .and also because you probably work here. The Apple store is a great place to go to observe teenagers in thier natural habitat. They are all dressed in blue shirts but you won't need that to recognize them. They are the ones standing around high-fiving, talking to each other - basically just hanging out and ignoring you and all the other customers. Unfortunately, the Apple store is a terrible place to go if you want to buy anything or get help with something you already bought. I had an appointment to have my broken iphone looked at. After waiting for almost an hour past my appointment time I was told by some silly looking dirtbag that "my phone is repairable but since our time together is limited to 10 minutes and only 10 minutes, we have to give you a replacement". That meant that I had to go home, download my pics and stuff and come back again later. I mean, whatever, they did resolve my problem and it only took 3 to 4 hours of my time but then to be told I only am allowed "10 minutes max" with some nose-ring wearing, long bearded "Genius"? I would say it is clear that Apple thinks they have such awesome products that they dont need to service them and people will stand in line to be treated like crap. I will most certainly be using mail-in service should my phone ever die again and I will seriously reconsider purchasing any more Apple products (although I know Verizon stores, etc, are equally horrible). read more

The apple store sucks. The emo staff is slow and oblivious to real people with real jobs and time concerns. If I would have known I needed to schedule a entire afternoon to handle a simple issue with my phone maybe I would have made a event out of it. On my next visit I will bring a cooler full of beer some sandwiches, a lawn chair, some kind of Bluetooth music player and a blanket and pillow just in case. Save yourself and your time. If you can stay away from this teenage nightmare please do. But if you have to I wish you luck. I went in on a Thursday mid-day for a iPhone4 docking station and upon entering the store I grabbed a store employee and told him what I wanted. They didn't have any on the display rack so he managed to find one in the back luckily. Easy peasy. If you are just browsing or want to see the newest Apple product good luck. This place is filled to the brim with teenagers and little kids alike accessing Facebook and playing Angry Birds as opposed to allowing potential paying customers to preview the products. read more

I brought in a phone to get the battery replaced. Maybe somewhere in the multi-page TOS that I signed I gave them permission to wipe that phone clean and give me a new one. However, if that is the case, they need to rethink that. Something as major as wiping a phone clean should require better notification than being buried in a document that they know will not be read. They could not get my old phone to charge with a new battery, so they gave me a new phone. The new phone did not have enough battery power to update the current iOS, so it was impossible for me to check the new phone to see if what I thought I had on the iCloud was actually there. But apparently that wouldn't have mattered anyway. When I went in to see if they still had the old phone the next day, that's when they told me the old phone had been erased before they handed me the new phone. Four years of irreplaceable pictures and video are gone. Had I known that might have happened, I would have asked them to make sure the photos were backed up, or I would have kept the phone with the lousy battery. They apologized for what happened, but sorry doesn't even begin to fix things. DO NOT TRUST THEM! read more

I've never had any issues at this store. I've walked in chosen my item, paid and walked out. I've walked in on my lunch break, purchased a phone, activated, and I'm back at work within the hour. I understand there are lines or its busy, this is the biggest retailer on the world and that tiny store can't handle it anymore. And for those who point out who is in the store or who is helping you, doesn't quite fit into your ideal as a human, just purchase the stuff online and STFU. If you need help with setup or repair, try not going at PEAK hours. Just like any other place, like eating out, there are times it will take longer. Quit acting like this is any different. read more

Maybe about a two years ago, this place was helpful and enjoyed coming here. Now though, it's just a pain in the ass to come and try to get something fixed. I've been to this Apple Store about 3-4 times in the past 6 months and have had bad experiences each and every time. First of all, when you have a appointment, expect to be seen about 30 minutes afterwards. I don't know why, but usually takes that long for someone to actually start helping you after you check in. Then they tell you to come back in about an hour to check on the status of the repair. Then they tell you it's ready and to head towards the Genius Bar and someone will bring it out. Last time I did that, I waited about 45 minutes to get my phone (after I had to ask them why everyone else was getting helped and I was being ignored). I'm glad that Apple has stores where you can get some repairs and even buy accessories and phone and stuff, but just be prepared to wait a while to get help. Try to take care of your devices in order to avoid this place! read more

Needs Better Customer Service. I've gone to this location more then once and i think I've been helped by one helpful employee to find out that she didn't put the new device to the account so now my warranty didn't transfer and they think i switched phones with someone else to get warranty on it. So lack of customer service, you don't get greeted anymore. When you have an appointment they make you wait to get you to do their job by calling the 1-800 number and they go to another customer instead of them doing their job. Terrible service. Went in with my friend who has been having problems with her iPhone for months. We made an appointment, and we had a relatively short wait given the apple store's usual way of running. Where we ran into issues was when my friend went to make a quick phone call to get some information and the technician helping us went off to help someone else. At this point, we've been waiting over an hour for him to come back and finish up with us. Frankly, it's rude and disrespectful of our time to wander off while we're in the middle of working. This place was packed for a Wednesday morning! I was shocked at how busy it was (although we are in December, but wow!) Had I known, I would have shown up right at opening time. Regardless of how busy the store was, there were plenty of customers representatives willing to help. My customer rep China was able to manage 3 shoppers at the same time! We were all interested in the same product, but needed different variations. She was patient, professional and knowledgeable. She allowed us to try the different products and play around with the settings to get a feel for what was most appropriate for our own needs. If we asked a question she didn't know the answer to, she would refer to a colleague for the answer. I was impressed with how smooth the process was given the busyness of the store. Now I am very much enjoying my new Apple product from the comfort of my own home! read more

This Apple Store is great. For those saying they just see a "bunch of workers" standing around doing "nothing" and "not helping customers", every worker in the Apple Store has a different role. Not EVERY worker knows how to do the tech part of the job, there's only so many techs and they do have a time limit with customers so they can help someone else appointment after appointment so they can actually get to everyone who has an appointment and to those who don't. So if you think they all know how to do the same job and they all just "stand around", think again cause that's not the case. read more

I called June 17 and spoke to a man named Pedro. He was based in Houston. He and I did a bunch of different tests and determined it was not the battery. So, I just left it alone. On Tuesday afternoon, I unplugged my MacBook Pro computer and went to the couch. It was about 2:30 and about 10 till 6pm it wanted to be charged. My mom said how much power did it lose? I said I just got up because it wanted to be charged. She looked at the screen and said it lasted 3 hours? I said closer to 3 1/2 hours because it was about 2:30 when she went to sit in her chair. Wednesday night it lasted about 4 1/2 hours. I unplugged it about 3:50 and lasted me until about 8:20pm. Yesterday morning I called and asked to speak to a senior advisor. I got a man named Justin and apparently he wasn't a senior advisor. He transferred me to LaToya, a nice lady who helped me. She said that it was the battery all along and told me that so far it has used 881 out of 1000 charges. After all the trouble I went through trying to figure out what could be wrong with my computer, LaToya told me it was the battery. I then told her after all this time it was the battery? She said yes, it is. I then said why did they tell me it wasn't the battery? She didn't say a word about that, probably didn't know what to say. I could have taken it to the Apple store in North Star Mall on the 20th or even this past Tuesday the 27th. Instead of relaxing on the 4th, I will probably be spending half my day at this location, or if not, at LaCantera to get the battery replaced. I asked the lady how long it would take but she didn't know, said it shouldn't be more than a couple hours. Every person's definition of a couple hours is different. I would say no more than 2-3 hours. I am not an expert, but sometimes you have to trust your own instincts and this time around I should have done so. I don't know what kind of tests these people run when you talk to a customer representative, but you'd think they'd be able to tell it was the hard drive, battery, etc or a mechanical problem. I cannot believe I got the run around when after all this time it was the battery. I am not happy that after two weeks on and off the phone that I finally had an answer as to why my computer was running low on charges. Next time I will just ask for someone who can help me right then and there to determine what the problem is so it can be resolved without having to go through this again. I asked a good friend in the electronics department at the store I work at, and he said it was most likely the battery. I told the lady that and it turned out this guy was right all along, I should have trusted my friend and my gut instincts. They say to always trust your gut because it is always right. This time around, both he and I were right and these people at the 1800 number were wrong, except for LaToya. LaToya was going to set me up with an appointment yesterday. I told her I couldn't make it and wouldn't be able to until the 4th at the earliest. Now, if they had a closer location, that would have been OK, but this store at North Star Mall isn't exactly close to my house. The one at LaCantera is double the distance of North Star location. This location is by 410 and San Pedro inside North Star Mall. The other location at LaCantera is across from the Microsoft store. They are literally across from each other. LaCantera is an outside mall. I wish Apple would consider opening more stores around San Antonio because this location and the one at LaCantera are ALWAYS busy, no matter time of day. I think they would definitely benefit from having more than just two locations in San Antonio. LaCantera is located on the northwest side of San Antonio right past the 1604/I-10 interchange. North Star Mall is located by 410 and San Pedro. They could build downtown, and at least one location on west side, east side, northeast side and south side of the city. I think they'd get plenty of business no matter where the location is. They need more than the two locations they have right now here in San Antonio. I plan on telling the person that once I am in front of them and say to the person that this location is not close to my house and I would like it if they built one near me say at Rolling Oaks Mall or The Forum. read more

1. My wife scheduled an appointment for 7pm to have her iPhone 7 batter y changed. We arrived before the appointment time. She checked in at the front desk. 2. Incredibly, we were told to come back at 8:55pm (5 minuters before closing time). 3. We went back at about 8:50pm - not one of the umpteenth employees there even stopped to ask if we were being helped, so again my wife went to the front desk to ask the status of the battery swap. The employee said he would check on it. We saw him go to the back of the store, and a few minutes later he walked out and past us to the front of the store and never gave us a status. 4. We waited for a while and I stopped another employee and same story "oh, it's probably ready, so let me check on it". That employee didn't come back from the back for a while. 5. After patiently waiting I got another employee and asked why there was such a disorganized process there. There's no way to find out the status of a repair or whatever a person is there for and the employees have no customer service skills whatsoever. When asked about the process we were told it takes an hour for a batter sway. So why does it take over 2 hours to get a phone back? Unsatisfactory. When we asked an employee for the store manager's name was the answer was that he didn't know the manager's full name - WTH??? 6. There are nothing buy snotty nosed "kids" in there who don't know how to treat or attend to customers' needs - what a disarray of unknowledgeable employees. Great products, good service, long waits. Seems like they could maybe offer more locations?

Don't do it. Horrific wait times. Your next ... Whatever. Never saw the store so slow for so many people standing around doing nothing.

Shame on APPLE!!!!!! I have been a longtime Apple/Mac/iPhone lover. I use the "cloud" for my backup. Last year I had multiple warnings that my phone wasnt backing up at night like it was set to do. I pay for this storage, monthly, a small amount, but that is not the point. After a bit I called into Apple support. I was told that it was a known issue they were working on. OK. Fine. Fast forward 4 months, still no backing up, monthly fee still coming out of account. This sometimes complacent single Mom finally calls in again. Speak to a nice gentleman who opens a "ticket". Never hear back from him. In the mean time, my iPhone goes on the fritz, I have to go buy an external hard drive to back up phone for 100 dollars before they replace my defective phone! Soon after, the "cloud" I am still paying for begins to do its nightly backups. That was April. Now it has stopped working AGAIN, no back up since first week of June. All the while still paying each month..... I call in again (all previous issues have been logged through support) and am told that it is a known issue they are working on. The only thing they can do for me is offer me a CREDIT to purchase merchandise!!!!!!!!!! So, to correct their problem they offer me a solution that puts more money in their POCKET!!!!!! Or I can cancel..... Pretty sure this was the straw that broke the camels back, sadly, next phone/laptop upgrade will most likely be to the OTHER side. read more
