It's awesome, just go. Keep an eye on their Instagram for food offerings - you won't be disappointed, steak is the best you'll have.

Great food, friendly staff and cool vibe here. Lots of history, best dive bar in the woods!

happy birthday, David McIntyre! It's your first time at Apple Jack's. Hope you liked it. I sure did and enjoy the week beyond compare

Visited La Honda and was joined by residents Duv (@plugh) and sean for a little soirée at their fav, low-light, #San Mateo, chill-space. I can't think of a better way to spend my evening than w/friends in this dark, hideaway in the mountains. SO first off: I did encounter in my one visit the racist dialogue that people had written of in reviews on Yelp. There's one regular guest of theirs, who has some really choice epithets that he uses to speak of other races. the women who run the bar, urged him to be polite or to shut his frickn word hole (he did not). So yeah, there are some bad apples that go to apple jacks. On the upside: they have a nice pool table and the ambience is fantastic both indoors and out. There's a huge area with a stage that can be rented out perhaps? The rear deck is wonderful and surrounded by redwoods. The bathrooms are super clean and spacious. Unique! I experienced a charming moment with the bartender, who was young and she didn't know for sure what a martini was. The typical martini is usually gin, and just a hint of vermouth. a bastardized version can be vodka also with just the tiniest amount of white vermouth and some olives on a toothpick. they did not have vermouth So ultimately, I was unable to get a martini, which probably would've been annoying anywhere else. I think I settled on a whiskey with Diet Coke, which was quite strong thankfully. The place is never that busy so the service is pretty rapid. I would go back, although I would hope to avoid any adjacency to the the racist chat.

This review is based on the weekend BBQ take-out only. Stopped in for lunch on our way back to Sunnyvale from Monterey. Drove by the day before and was enticed by the smell of the smoker, but they were just starting to smoke the meat and we didn't have time to wait around, so we stopped on the way back. You order through a QR code and pay, then pick up your BBQ plate at the smoker. They have a nice picnic table area to eat outside. We ordered the 3 meat plate for $30. Plenty for two to share. Came with 2 ribs, 4 pieces of ball tip (similar to tri-tip), quarter chicken (leg and thigh), coleslaw, potato salad, pickles and a Hawaiian sweet roll. Tons of food and all really good. The ball-tip was very tender. The ribs were super meaty and flavorful. Their BBQ sauce was yummy too! Loved the coleslaw...with poppy and sunflower seeds. The potato salad was a bit too vinegary for me, but my husband liked it. Overall a great experience. We left full and happy. Would definitely recommend.

Went here for drinks and despite a disappointing inexperienced but earnest bartender who didn't know any cocktails, and music that was too loud for conversation and too annoying to tolerate, the bar is nice and the outside area is vast. 3 stars for effort, but difficult to hang out.

Real local, rural pub. Good selection of beer, weekend barbecues are fantastic. Friendly crowd, with great local bands on weekend in summer.

Totally unique in location, ambiance and patronage (people from all walks of life come here - from bikers, blue collar workers, tech bros and long-time locals). You can see and feel the history the moment you walk in. It's part dive, part community hub, and part time capsule in the best way. Because the Flo holds a special place in my heart, I wanted to share a few supportive thoughts. I think the Flo has so much potential, and a few small tweaks could make a big difference. I know it would for me and other regulars who find ourselves stopping in less and less. Bartenders: Read the Room Afternoons often draw an older crowd that loves to chat and socialize. Keeping the music at a comfortable volume during those hours helps people enjoy the vibe without shouting over the jukebox. A little attention to the atmosphere goes a long way. Along those lines, consistent heat in the winter and AC in the summer would make the space more comfortable. It's amazing how much it influences whether people stay for one drink or settle in for the afternoon. Management: The Flo has a very loyal customer base. The folks who come here already know it, love it, and want to support it. Leaning into that core audience and maybe doing something simple like a basic SWOT analysis could spark some great ideas for keeping business strong. Keeping the door propped open might seem inviting, but the foot traffic in this area isn't really the bar's crowd. The magic of the Flo comes from the people who intentionally choose to be here. All of this comes from a place of appreciation. There are many of us who don't just want the Flo to stick around, we want it to thrive. With a few thoughtful updates, it can continue to be a beloved Fremont spot for years to come.

This place had such great reviews and I had been driving past it while visiting my ailing father…read morefor weeks. But I was so disappointed when I took my mother specially here to this historic restaurant to get away from the stress of being a caregiver. Parking was confusing, especially for a handicapped person. Then getting to where we needed to be to get into the restaurant was also confusing. There was a stand out front and one hostess. We had to use our phone to register or something, while we waited to be called. Then around at the restaurant there was another hostess. We weren't allowed to go in the front door, which was exactly where we ended up after the circuitous trek around the building!! I was in a boot so it was really difficult to get around. Then, when we finally got seated we found dirt on the seats, like someone had been standing on them. We discovered that there were no servers to take our order, we had to order and pay via a phone app!! The only physical menu was a drinks menu at the table. Unbelievable. I know, I am old-school and this seems to be the wave of the future, but this is how mistakes happen. Which happened with our order, my mother's cheeseburger came without cheese even though we paid for it. Then when we finally get our food delivered it is in greasy disposable (hopefully compostable) trays with condiments in tubes, etc. We couldn't even open the mayo and had to have someone help us!! At least we got a pitcher of water, probably because there are no servers to refill people's glasses!! The "server" was just sitting at the bar, no one came by our table to check on us. Loud music. On top of that, the burgers weren't even very good. The fries were so bad I couldn't even finish them. Then, you have to pay on your phone, which was frustrating as well. How do you know who to tip, there were two hostesses, the guy who delivered the food to the table, the gal who had to open our mayo, and of course the folks who cooked the food. All together it was such a negative experience that I still get stressed thinking about it. It has taken this long to get the review up because I found the pics I took on my phone while I was clearing it off and got stressed all over again and HAD to leave a 1-star review for you guys. Sorry.
