Anyway, five stars all the way for Monety's Log Cabin! If you dive into this worn watering hole you'll find a lot of locals gossiping, discussing sports, or doing their best to pickle their livers. That's part of it's appeal. It's an old, worn, unpretentious neighborhood bar filled with friendly people from the area. From the bartenders to the patrons, it's one of the most colorful groups of fun loving people you're likely to meet. Nobody here has an attitude or bats an eye if you strike up a conversation with a complete stranger. Or if you bring your dog! You won't find a wine list, EV charging station, or vegan, wheat-grass, roasted beet, tofu smoothies at this place. It's all about beer, whiskey, and cigarettes out on the patio. That's right there's a smoking section outside and it's usually pretty crowded. Uncle Dave's Rye IPA is the best beer they have, and it always seems to be on tap. Monty's is a whole experience. It's the only bar I've been to where underwear hangs on the walls, dogs are allowed, and there are googly eyes on the bushes. The bartender Anthony was so rude. He threw away a fernet shot I payed money for. Aggressively took it out of my hands, and yelled at me because last call was at 12:30 and it was 12:32. Beyond unacceptable in my opinion as a service worker. I had to wait for an uber and he threw me and my friend outside in the rain and locked the door, 5 minutes after closing. We stumbled upon Monty's after a show at the Felton music hall. It is within walking distance, so instead of waiting for our Uber, we decided to walk down and have a couple of drinks. The #Hillbillymobile recumbent trike really loves this place. As shown in photo, it was lit up and sobered in front of this ultimate HillbillyLand Santa Cruz Mountains dive bar. Not sure if it was more lit up or more sobered. Tried clicking on neon bike icon in window but was mis-navigated. Still got away before being forced to undergo a sobriety test so I guess we'll never know. But being outlit at night for the first time ever was definitely sobering for the #Hillbillymobile. In fact, the #Hillbillymobile has never been out-lit before or since. Right there that says a lot about the place. Though mistaking the recumbent tricycle for a weird bicycle, the people inside seemed to like the #Hillbillymobile and weren't bothered that it stopped outside for the photo-op without coming in. And reading that the place is dog friendly, serves dive bar food, has Hank Williams in the jukebox, and has a firepit made from on old clothes dryer (what could be more hillbilly?) I'm gonna have to go in--even though I'm a teetotaler reality addict. Conveniently located on Hwy 9 right near the entrance to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, an iconic site for #HillbillyIdentityExtremistEnvironmentalists; Monty's Log Cabin has been a Felton community fixture right there since 1936. By comparison the #Hillbillymobile has been a community non-fixture since March 2022, transporting me all around #HillbillyLand since shortly after I moved from Lexington Hills on the other side of the mountain and after a brief stop in the silicon valley hellhole. Monty's is less than 7 miles from my new home in Upper Zayante so I'll be sure to go inside soon. read more

Passed this cool spot on the way to hike to the Garden of Eden about 2 miles down the road. Passed it again, hit up Rite aid for the bathrooms and a snack for the drive home back to Campbell. Tooooo much traffic showing on my app so I said let's go check that place out! What a find!!! Immediately greeted with a conversation and welcome from a local who gave up her seat at the bar to play some pool. Bartender was nice and attentive. I I got a draft blue moon, $5. Ice ice cold and it had a very flavored taste, more than others I've had. We ended up talking with the women next to us. The friends were vacationing and ended up in Felton. Turns out they are both RN's, one ICU & the other ER, die hard Raider Fan, gorgeous half tat sleeve of a Phoenix, etc., etc., So much in common we talked for hours. We ended up going outside to the beautiful garden area and I invited a local to join us around the fire. We then proceeded back in to play pool for hours where we met more locals. It was truly an amazing night! Set in Felton with exceptionally friendly and fun people and the juke box played all night as well. Bathroom is super cute and clean. I loved it from the outside log structure, to the inside, back to the outside seating area! Definitely coming back!! read more

Not crazy about the taxidermy at all, the veggie in me, also the horror movie lover in me... (that aside) It's a modern day "Merlotte's" (True Blood ref) off HWY 9 with some Tarantino "Guero's " chemistry (Death Proof nod) smack dab in Felton, California. Really enjoyable bar and crowd al la dive bar realness served with a side of killer drink prices (cash only - sorry about it, so worth it) , fun juke box (that has everything), spacious patio with fire pit, backroom pool table and homey feel goodness. The staff and everyone here are great. We did a round of shots courtesy some locals & staff wishing our friends (the bride and groom) and our wedding party to good times and cheer. Despite almost losing my eye(s)... very long story... of 3 guys who got into a fight and shattered the front window (I was about half a foot away from going blind) the night we were here last weekend. SIDE NOTE: I would definitely go back if not for the random drunken pictures with the New Zealand (yeah let's go with New Zealand) lady... the getting hit on by sexually fluid men who made me feel wanted :) I know it was the red suit and the smile... than for the true dive bar experience of hanging out with really nice people who know how to drink and dance in a close setting. read more

Best "dive bar" I've ever been to. Great beers on tap, friendly and welcoming locals, dogs welcome (!!! Loved this!), and a great atmosphere. Now let's talk price. I probably shouldn't in case they see this and raise the pieces, but dang! What a bargain. I hope they are keeping the prices low to keep the locals happy, but as a non-local it was a real treat to get such a deal. There is also a beautiful patio out back where you can enjoy your drinks. Some locals told us that a fire it lit in the evenings. I can't imagine anything better. My friend and I bought one of Monty's t-shirts to commemorate our fun visit. This place is such a divey gem. I had such a blast here a few weeks ago when I came into town for my best friend's wedding which was taking place just down the street. If you're in to dive bars, you HAVE GOT to check out Monty's. I won't bore you with a long review because, to be honest, a long winded review about Monty's just isn't their style. This place is divey, and I mean that in the most amazing of ways. It's dark, dimly lit, and the drinks are STRONG. It's got a pool table and darts in the back that we took full advantage of. The bar was cash only, as any good dive bar should be. As I mentioned, the drinks here are strong and they're cheap, too! I think after spending a few hours here and downing at least 4 drinks, I walked out spending right about ~20 including tip. Not bad! The place is definitely a locals hang out and the people are great. The bartenders were nice and fun and the atmosphere of this place really hits the nail on the head. TL;DR? The drinks are strong, the price is right, the place is divey, and you should stop reading this review and go to Monty's cause it's awesome. 10/10, will go again! read more

Sure, it's not a club bar, definitely has its locals and its own small town atmosphere.
