Pool table on back of bar

On our way to Sunset beach we wanted to watch The Warriors vs Celtics game we came in. When you look up "dive bar" this will come up however, I recommend it! Susie Froggies has a very relaxed feel. They have a wood burning stove and pool tables. The bartender welcomed us in when we came in. Full bar with bar munchies - he offered us frozen pizza and or burritos he would microwave for us, chips and beef jerky available BUT they allow you to bring in your own food! We went across the street to El Chipotle and brought back Birria burritos and chips. There are 4 TVs with different sports on. Lots of locals came in and the bartender knew their names! A locals "Cheers". Have to visit at least once!

This place is too cute. Love the vibes, cabin feel, management, neighborhood! If you get the chance to meet the owners, (not while you're getting 86d or anything- LOL) you won't regret it... some of the best people I've met. Kat can absolutely RUN a great show over there! Can't wait for the holiday season and fun events.

We had a lot of fun

Such a fun spot! Kept wanting to check it out because of the name, was not disappointed. Cat was amazing, we'll definitely be back!

Fabulous place to hang out and have a cocktail watch the game and chat. Close to the beach and a place to getaway from the crowds.

Went there last night. Horrible service. The dude needs a new job. He kept walking past my empty glass. It wasn't even busy. No bueno.

The woman who greeted us was incredibly warm and friendly. With three little kids running around and being their wild selves, it would have been easy to feel like we were "those people," but she made us feel comfortable. She even shared that she and her business partner love filling their space with happy kids and families. That really stuck with me. It can be surprisingly hard to find places these days where families truly feel welcome, and in a moment when I was already overwhelmed trying to figure out where to eat lunch with three kids, that kindness meant so much. And the ceviche was AMAZING. Add in the beautiful view, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. We can't wait to come back!

They seem to have frequent live music during Weekday Happy Hour and the band playing last night was awesome. Food ordered: * Daily special: Chicken Tacos (2) -- Generous portion for $10, but the chicken was a bit tough and dry. Served with some lightly seasoned tortilla chips (chipotle & lime?) * Wednesday Wing Deal $1ea: We tried 4 Korean style and 4 lemon pepper. Served with choice of blue cheese or ranch dressing and some veggie sticks. Wings were ok. Lemon pepper was better. * HH Shrimp Ceviche -- Served with tortilla chips. Shrimp was pretty fresh, but I wasn't too crazy about the ceviche marinade... the tomato and onion was a bit too overwhelming. * Smash Burger (regular menu) -- 2 beef patties with white cheddar, LT, sauce on brioche bun, side of seasoned fries. Good burger for just under $20. Features a wide range of wine, beer and cocktails. Some really low end to some decent wines. Friendly service.

Waitress walked by several times to bus some plates and glasses and input some orders into the console but never made eye contact, nor did the old guy with the glasses when he came out to attend the bar. Finally, I caught his attention and asked if I could order. He just said, "Kinda busy right now" and went back to what he was doing. No "give me a minute and I'll be right with you." Much like the crowd that was already there (and unlike the mixed demographic just outside or me), some older white folks came in after me and stood around for a few minutes also. Waitress finally grabbed some menus and asked them "have you been helped?" I interjected and asked, "Can I place an order to go first please?" Without stopping, she said "no" and continued on to them. I left. They saw me leave and didn't say anything. Make of that interaction what you will. The extra star is giving them the benefit of the doubt since they were busy plus their immediate adjacency to the beach.

Now, I say "prawns" because apparently there was a little seafood identity crisis happening -- they were actually shrimp! Outside of that little prawn/shrimp confusion, everything was exceptionally good. The roasted chicken was delicious, the black rice was really good, but those black beans were FIIIIRRREEE! They had this amazing smoky flavor that I absolutely loved. Seriously, those beans were ridiculously good. The Linguine Cruise was also excellent, and even though my "prawns" turned out to be shrimp, they were still damn good! The restaurant itself is huge, clean, and has plenty of seating, with a killer bar that I really liked. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, and the staff were super friendly, funny, and genuinely enjoyable to deal with. Overall, I really liked this place. The exterior doesn't do the restaurant justice. Inside, the dining room and patios are beautifully decorated, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. There's plenty of space for both small and mid-sized groups. The food was fabulous! We started with the calamari, which was honestly some of the best I've ever had, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also ordered the seasonal Caprese (tomato stack) salad, which was incredibly fresh with a wonderful combination of flavors. Even the complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar stood out. The balsamic was so good I forgot to ask what brand they use so I could buy some for home! Our server was friendly, attentive, and helpful. When I ordered the fettuccine with steak, she thoughtfully confirmed whether I wanted the Gorgonzola Alfredo or the traditional Alfredo sauce. I chose the traditional Alfredo, and it was absolutely perfect. I shared it with my daughter, so the photo shows about half of the original portion. Everyone at our table loved their meals. The rotisserie chicken received rave reviews as well, although I forgot to take a photo. If the weather is nice, don't miss the outdoor patios. There's a table for six near the fireplace that looked especially inviting. I wanted to take a picture, but I couldn't get the angle without including other diners in the frame. I also tried the watermelon martini, which was refreshing and delicious, and the wine pours were generous. If you're in Aptos, this restaurant is absolutely worth a visit. We'll definitely be back.

Pleasantly surprised by how well they were set up to serve kids - solid kids menu options and all the kids meals are served on a frisbee you get to take home. The whole table loved the Beach Blanket Breadalon appetizer - basically cheesy, garlic sourdough. I had the clam chowder and the Apple Gorgonzola salad and both were very good. We sat outside and had an incredible view of Capitola Beach. The service was slow throughout the meal, and one thing that stood out was that I never received a water refill the entire time we were there. It wasn't terrible service, but it definitely felt inattentive. I ordered the Seafood Fettuccine because I wanted something a little more filling. In hindsight, that's partly on me since seafood fettuccine isn't exactly a dish I usually expect to be exceptional anywhere. The Alfredo sauce was bland and needed a lot of pepper to bring some life to it. Most of the seafood was overcooked and chewy, particularly the fish. The clams were probably the best part of the dish and were cooked reasonably well. Overall, the view was fantastic, but beyond that, the meal didn't do much for me. Between the slow service and underwhelming food, this ended up being one of the worst meals I had on my trip.
