I think the staff and management are either pretty unintelligent or quite rude. We were a party of 4 with a 6 month baby in stroller. The place is already congested (because of tables next to each other, was quite empty) and we were trying to accommodate us. Highly recommend! Andy and Sydney were so welcoming, authentic & fun to chat with. The drinks and food were fantastic with a beautiful view at a very fair price considering the area. Sydney's passion fruit martini was refreshing and flavorful without being too sweet. Hmmm! Let's see. We went to BA at 2:00 on a Wednesday and only the outside was busy. Inside my dining partner said was filled with swarms of flys! The man who originally greeted us was quite rude. I just had foot surgery and I'm in a boot with a knee scooter. Before we even had a chance he reprimanded us for blocking the walkway. What a way to treat a disabled person! It took a long time to get service. The Irish waitress was very kind but obviously a one woman show. The patio area is really filthy and cramped. I had a Reuben and the corn beef was dry although the rye bread, sauerkraut and Russian dressing were good. Beer from Discretion was predictable good. All of the dishes we ordered were full of flavor. The fish combo breading was amazing, it was crispy and not too heavy. The ahi tartare was really good as well, I probably could have done without the bell peppers though. I absolutely recommend the calamari, the squid was huge and the breading was perfect! The ham and cheese omelet was really good too. The fries that it came with had so much flavor, I was shook! Didn't get seated until after a while, even after getting seated, we were brought someone else's drink order. Never got seen or attended to by the staff. It's faster to call in to get your order to go than getting served in person. This review was supposed to be a 1 star but the food staff did an amazing job with their fish & chips. The location of this bad boy is right next to the public restroom and only steps away from the sand. It serves a nice variety of items which is nice so everyone in your party can pretty much find something that suits their tastes. I ordered a chicken sandwich and the chicken was thick, plump, and juicy. The artichoke hearts we ordered were huge and the fried breading was a little thick for my taste. I wasn't too keen on this dish. The kids chicken strips were a good size and they came with a heap of fries. It's a pretty standard restaurant--nothing that knocks your socks off. Having had our fill of Sand Bar and Zelda's, we were looking for a slightly more low-key place to grab a drink on Saturday. Britannia Arms fit the bill perfectly! When we arrived, there were no more than a dozen or so people spread throughout the bar. We quickly got the impression this was a place where regulars frequently found themselves, and it gave the bar a very welcoming, friendly vibe. We sat at the bar and enjoying peering at all the English football decorations. Our bartender was lovely - very friendly and attentive. She even refilled my bourbon soda without me having to ask... now that's service! She was also generous with her pour, which is always appreciated. Though we didn't try any of the food, we found Britannia Arms to be a lovely little pub, and I'll certainly be coming back when I revisit Capitola. read more
