Our server Matilynn was very pleasant. I could overlook the misses except for the baked potato that was comically shriveled, room temperature and hard. I mentioned it to the server who offered to exchange it but I laughed and said it was ok. It was. But days later when I looked closer at the item that boosted my bill, what is that charge? I called them, politely avoiding happy hour or the dinner rush. I got a bombastic explanation from the manager they're allowed to charge for paying by a credit card. Ok, where did I miss that? She said it was on the menu that there is a 4% discount for paying cash. "Ok. But that's not the same as charging 4% to pay by credit card." She told me to talk to their bookkeeper and smashed the phone in my ear. To finish my review, Baby Back Ribs ($37) - very dry Shaved Brussels Sprouts- boiled to mush Horseradish past its prime If you dine at Hindquarter be aware of their payment rule and either bring a wad of cash or forgo ordering appetizers, wine, dessert or anything that otherwise pads your bill.

Popped into the Bay Bar in Capitola Village for a bite to eat and a cocktail - wow this place is so…read morenice! Brightly painted in beachy colors with beautiful enormous rattan lighting, and a clean and friendly atmosphere. It has cool wrap-around modern seating benches with boho pillows and mirror wall decor near the pool table. We got to meet super charming Brittany, the owner, and ordered a fried chicken sandwich/fries which was crunchy and yummy and the pile of fries were crispy which we love. Also had buffalo chicken wings - they were so perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. They truly were the best I've had in the area. BUT I cannot say enough how incredibly perfect the Martini that Brittany made me was - A Vodka martini with jalapeño-infused olive juice with two blue-cheese stuffed olives served in an icy fogged martini glass. I think it was called the Spicy Christina. Refreshing and a sipping pleasure. We'll definitely be back for all the above and to try their Waffle-Chicken sandwich. We also got to hang with our favorite local bartender, Christa! She'll make you feel at home with her chatty ways, bar games and good pours!!!! This is a great place to meet up with friends and definitely a local fave. But tourists will love it too - it has such a light and friendly party vibe.

5 Stars Have to…read moresay, this might be the best burger spot in Santa Cruz. Ordered The Pfiefer and The Huckleberry Burger, and both absolutely delivered. Starting with the Pfiefer (9.6/10) this is your classic, all-American burger done right. American cheese, BBQ sauce, crispy bacon, and an onion ring stacked perfectly on top. It felt American in the best way. The patty was well seasoned and juicy, bacon perfectly crisp, and the BBQ sauce tied everything together without overpowering it. Honestly, the only complaint? I wanted an even bigger one. Now the real star! The Huckleberry (9.9/10). This one surprised me. Bacon, sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and horseradish sauce served on sourdough bread. The sourdough took it to another level crispy on the outside, soft inside, and packed with flavor. The horseradish sauce added just enough kick without being overwhelming. Every bite was balanced, savory, and rich without feeling too heavy. Easily one I'd go back for again and again. We ordered side salads (because balance) and they were actually amazing fresh, crisp, and not an afterthought like most burger spots. Ambiance: fun pub vibe, clean, lively.Staff was attentive, friendly, and made the experience even better.!!

Got two drinks, first off i got the faux-mosa, was simply delightful like bubbly orange juice, second off we got the Swamp Thanngg it burned my throat it tastes like swamp water, it was sweet not that bad if you like vegetable juice. Lastly the garlic fries, this is where is all went down. There was a disgraceful amount of garlic, which made my eyes water‍. These fries were an abomination. Definitely would recommend for a first date . Great place to eat if you like food and stomach issues. The service was delightful, they didn't seem annoyed with us at allll .

It started with the friendly hostess Naima (more on her in a bit), who sat us per our request (outside, under a heat lamp). The waiter immediately took our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to read through the menu. I got the vodka mule to start, followed by French toast with fruit on the side. My hubby got the Bloody Awesome bloody mary along with the fish taco. The French toast was perfectly cooked -- Texas toast with a heaping chunk of butter and tasty maple syrup on the side. Minor quibble: the syrup was served in small packets, which was fine but not ideal. Hubby really enjoyed his fish tacos -- the fish was super fresh, grilled to perfection, and served with a pineapple salsa. Service was fantastic. Our waiter was awesome -- as busy as he was, he was attentive and fast. And the hostess Naima was so accommodating and friendly. We watched her go out of her way to bring a bowl of water out to a dog that was tied up on the boardwalk while its owners were dining inside. Fantastic service and food. And the view cannot be beat!
