This is so much fun! There's a winery, distillery, and orchard all in one place. We went a little early for apples, as there was only one variety BUT plenty of trees to pick from. I definitely enjoyed the wine tasting as well. My only complaint was the cocktail; my mule wasn't too great. I was very excited to take my family to Apple Dave's as they are dog-friendly and very active on social media - thus hyping up their orchard. Upon arrival, we paid for a bag for the apples and waited for a wagon ride to go up to the apples. There was chaos when the wagon arrived as they had no attendant and people were cutting the line. We waited quite a while for another wagon. Upon getting up to the apples, we found that many were not ripe enough (not their fault, we could've just been too early but not sure why they are taking customers to that specific spot if there are no ripe/any apples). Once we were done, we went back to the drop off spot to wait for the wagon. After about 30 minutes of waiting, we called the farm to ask about the wagon and they mentioned it had a flat tire and would be there shortly. It did not come shortly - after about another half an hour of waiting, we decided to just walk. We ended up finding a shortcut that put us at the entrance of the farm, it was about a 5 minute walk to our original entrance point. It was a bit annoying that another staff member was not sent to let customers know about the wagon, especially considering there are no signs to let you know where to walk. We had lunch at the distillery, nothing crazy hot dogs and tacos from a local business. The tacos were great. Everything else was underwhelming. I probably won't return to Apple Dave's given this experience and will be on the hunt for a new, dog-friendly orchard. read more

Apple Daves! You have completely transformed my life in the greatest ways possible. Aside from the yellow jackets swarming me (and diving INTO my cider), everything about this orchard and distillery is the greatest thing to happen to me in the last year (I'm only slightly exaggerating because it was THAT great). If you're able to make the drive from Manhattan or Brooklyn up to Warwick, where Apple Daves is located, I highly recommend it. It's a pretty easy trip (give or take 2 hours) and it is beautiful. We got to the orchard around 2pm and went straight to the cider tent (there are also wines, mixed drinks and food). We grabbed a couple ciders because you can't go here and not try one, then headed to the line to get our bags for apple picking. Bags are something like 25 cents and then you pay for the actual half bushel or full bushel of apples once you're leaving. It was about $8 for a half bushel, and we were able to get at least 14 apples in the bag -- plus, you can eat as many as you want while you're wandering! There was also a pumpkin patch area, but it was pretty cleared out (we went mid-October). One of the best parts about this place is once you're out of the orchard, there is an antique shop and distillery where they serve beers AND another section for apple cider donuts. That's still not even the best part! Shocking, I know. Once you grab a beer or cider or donuts or all of the above, you can wander down the hill to sit in front of the pond and beautiful view of the mountains and field. If you want to walk off the calories (*rolls eyes*), take a walk around the pond where there's already a path carved out for you. It's really breathtaking, refreshing and secluded, even with so many people being at the orchard. This is a must do to finish off your trip. I cannot wait for next year -- I'll definitely be back. read more

Not sure what the drama is with the family but the split of this and applewood creates a weird vibe. I've been going for 10 years and today had horrible experience at Apple Dave's. I asked for water for our dog since their one dog bowl was disgusting and dirty...and the staff was cold & refused and just kept saying "against our policy, you can buy some" - When you encourage dogs to come visit, have some clean water for them! It's a necessity not an opportunity to charge people to buy water bottles. Be better about the environment! Was then called rude and cheap and the staff laughed. What in the world?! I'm not being cheap I was trying not to use plastic when possible. Definitely will find a new place to start going with friends - it's not worth the weird attitudes. When you are paying to enter & a premium for apples/drinks just have some basic water for the furry friends! Or don't allow dogs. And don't laugh at customers being called names... The Apple orchard was really pretty a d well maintained I went very late in the Apple picking season so a lot of the trees were already bare from fruit but there were plenty to pick from, you just had to walk a little bit ! I got a great selection of really delicious apples ! The store was disappointing the shelves were kind of bare and the restroom was terribly dirty but they had out houses that were more clean .. but overall I have to say go and check it out !!! I went on a Monday am and it was super quiet especially since we were late in the season... they do follow covid regulation so that is good read more

We went the last weekend of apple picking season and though they still had a good selection, we would go much earlier next year to get more variety. Whatever happened to the family who owns this place has destroyed everything that was good about Apple Dave's. The staff yells at you about where you park. They threatened to have my car towed if I went from my parking spot to meet my cousins at the winery- even though we planned on going to the orchard right after we got our donuts. They told my cousin that she had to move her car from where it was parked by the winery to the parking lot by the lake or we wouldn't be able to go to the orchard. We spoke to another group who took an Uber to Apple Dave's then were not allowed to walk down the hill to the orchard. It is completely ridiculous that each corner of the same property has different rules that are not posted anywhere (as far as I could tell). It was just employees yelling at you. The prices of everything increased drastically and the service is terrible. I left without picking apples and will never come back here again. read more

We've been going to Apple Dave's for several years. It's a bit of a trip for us but it was worth it. Basex on our experience this year, will will not be going back. They now require you to pay $5 per person just to get into the orchard. You have to park all the way down a big hill to go to the orchard; you can't park in the upper parking lot anymore. If you want to visit the wine store or get food, you have to go back to your car and drive back up the hill hill and park again. Apple Dave's used to be such a cute place with a variety of things to do. Now everything is roped off and separated making the whole experience very complicated and annoying. They need to go back to the way it has been set up in the past. We are very sad about these changes! read more

My family and I found Apple Dave's Orchard the most authentic and scenic apple orchard in the area. The main building is a renovated barn that is something out of a storybook. The view around the property is breathtaking. You get a true sense of peace and relaxation from being there. Also, there is a great pond in the center of their property with picnic tables. The apples were delicious and the hot apple cider was to die for. If you are looking to get away from it all and have a great day picking apples, Apple Dave's Orchard is the place! read more

A 2 hr drive from Brooklyn on a Sunday morning but worth the trip. Only a few varieties of trees but tons of apples. Pick your own $30 for an overflowing huge bag. Other veggies and holiday decorations for sale. Lots of activities for kids ( puppet show, games, face painting) and adults ( wine tasting, beer garden ). Food on site but be prepared to wait and no outside picnic foods allowed. Biggest negative- only porta-potties... please invest in some permanent restrooms. However the wine tasting was a nice step but the the wines are way to sweet and the art not Dessert dessert wine. The merlot was the only one the was drink able and it was not the full body. I feel compelled to leave this review because I want to save people time from going to this orchard. I drove 2 hrs from Brooklyn today and was pretty disappointed the quality of the orchard. The location and grounds are beautiful but its a bad year for Apple Daves. All the apples were rotted and damaged. Im sure its a result of bad weather and not enough rain. I found 1 tree that had enough decent apples to fill a small bag but that was it. Everything there was no pretty expensive. $12 for 3 tiny tacos that I can get anywhere else for $6. Doughnuts were oily and expense at $18 a bag. Didn't even have a cider flavor. I would not recommend this orchard this year but On other years perhaps yes. read more

Used to love this orchard, but it has turned into a 3-ring circus focused on selling alcoholic beverages, and apple-picking seems like an afterthought. We waited in line for 45 minutes to get mediocre food with surly service. Website said they were open until 5. When we got to the orchard, it was 4:30, and they turned us away, so we didn't even get any apples. Saw a drunk woman throwing up in front of the port-a-potties -- definitely not the family-friendly place it used to be. Plus, now they route the orchard traffic through a lane where little kids are walking up and down, which is not very safe. No more tractor rides to the orchard and no puppet show and farm animals anymore either. Feels like they are just trying to make a quick buck. Sad. read more

DONT GO HERE !! especially if you have autistic or special needs children .. they don't care about your experience! These people are very GREEDY They charge $25 cash for a puny tiny bag. I only had $20 cash and she told me to go all the way back to the farm store and pay by credit card I asked her to please just have some grace .. I have an autistic grandson who can't handle being in the mud and going back will set him off because we were almost ready to get to the Orchard. I told her I would make it up some other way at the establishment. She said no, and ignored me!! I was trying to look for cash anywhere on my person and couldn't find any. It was only by the grace of another couple who was trying to return their bag because they were only taking pregnancy pictures in the orchards ( but apparently had to buy a bag) I offered them my $20 and they paid $5 to shut the greedy woman up!!!! (THANK YOU AGAIN) Once you finally walk to their disgusting muddy orchards, the apples trees have no name cards or signs to tell you what apples they are!! You are literally going in ignorant - so now you have to try every Apple from every tree and ALL ARE TASTELESS!!! We found one tree, again don't know what kind of Apple it is, but filled the bag because of all the trouble I went through, just to get tiny bag!! When I was leaving, I told the owner Justin's wife at the bag stand that it was the most horrible experience I ever had and she told me the reason they don't have signs is because the kids play with them and the parents don't stop them from doing it! I was like are you serious right now ?so you don't expect children to do things like that? Also, No exit signs so you don't know how to get back out and there's no staff out there to help you. I've been here several times before and there was a hayride, there were decent apple trees, and the staff was kind and they were fair with their prices. You can't even go to the winery and then go straight into the Apple orchard you have to get into your car and drive to the next parking lot. (Btw $5 PER PERSON) to park in the apple orchard part of the establishment. I never write bad reviews but please don't waste your time. There's plenty of other apple orchards around and I would check their reviews before you go. This is a very manageable moderately low key orchard! Good selection of gala and jonagold! Their donuts are plain but homemade and fresh. They also have food stands where vendors sell tacos, pizza, pulled pork sandwich, ribs, etc. good set of picnic tables and easy parking. Have to take a tractor ride to orchards for picking so keep that in mind. Also great that they allow you to pay for what you pick. Will return! read more

What a great, fun day in Warwick, NY! Live music, a winery (distillery), food trucks. Dogs were welcome, and all (people and dogs) were VERY well behaved! You are allowed to eat as many apples as you want for free, but the bags of apples are pretty expensive. We got 2 big bags and 2 small bags... for $92 (you pay a few bucks for the bags first, then you fill them and pay again, and you need cash). I mean, the apples are not perfect and gorgeous, but I know they are tasty (I tried an apple off of each tree I picked apples from, to make sure I liked them). The lines were a little long and the port o potties were quite disappointing, but the free tractor rides were fun and the Apple picking was great! We stopped at Sugarloaf Tap House for dinner (the bathrooms clean and nice, huge antler chandelier, and EXCELLENT food that is less expensive than in Montclair!). We got apple cider donughts after at Penning's farm, where the trees were labeled by type, but Dave's was a lot more rustic. I think I want to go back again to the (different) place with the corn maze! If you don't want to pick, they had perfect looking apples and peaches (and farm labeled booze) in the little markets and orchard wineries and stores. I don't really think you can go wrong in Warwick! I had kids with me (10 and 8) and 2 grownups (over 45). We all had fun! We had a Great time at the orchard. Cash only Note that there are a variety of food including: -bbq station with ribs, chicken wings, Mac and cheese -brick oven pizza -Hot dogs, pulled pork sandwich, nachos, chilli, Apple cider donuts, cold and hot apple cider -Tacos -hard cider station with options: flight of hard cider, sangria, and cocktails -wine tasting in the winery shop -tent for beers, pale ale, hot toddy, etc -no admission fee. Pricing is $1 for small bag and $2 for large bag. Once you're done picking the apples and on your way out of the orchard, it is $16 for full small bag or $30 for full large bag otherwise it is prorated if you don't fill up. -Pet friendly and a nice place for kids as they had puppet shows throughout the day. I wish I walked around before deciding on which food to take for lunch. The pulled pork, chilli cheese dog, cider donut, and Apple cider were all amazing. Once lunch was complete, we walked the trail around the pond then hopped on the wagon tractor that brought us inside the orchards for Apple picking. Overall fun thing to do with a group of friends. Fun times were had by all, but the establishment isn't convenient or seemingly well run. We visited last fall for some apple picking. As rookies, we perhaps didn't leave quite early enough for our adventure. I own that. Regardless, getting there was a bumble-f*ck. There is a two lane country road going in and coming out. It's not easy to get to in the first place, but then the parking lot fills up you have to wait miles down the road in a lane full of seemingly parked cars trying to get in. We waited and waited more than a mile down the road until a man came by and told us they were full for the day and everyone was to go home. Are you kidding?!!!?! We were so bummed we drove forward, past the entrance, to turn around. However, when we turned around and passed the driveway we sort of... ummm... slipped in there. SCORE! Needless to say, our arrival was frustrating and time consuming. Once we got in and were able to find a parking spot, we ventured to the orchards. That part was a ton of fun! Everyone buys a bag and you pay for what you pick. You're free to venture through rows and rows of different varieties of apples. You can try the apples or have a whole one if you like! Word to the wise - WEAR RAIN BOOTS. The orchards can be unexpectedly muddy. Don't think your shoes are going to make it out if you go in wearing some trendy non-water-proof nonsense. After our romping through the orchards filling our bags we checked out - prices were reasonable. Then we went to explore other parts of the orchard - shop, donuts, cider, wine, etc. but everything was either packed or completely sold out for the day. The one worker we interacted with in the wine tent was not clear in her descriptions of what was being offered in regards to tastings or glasses, etc, so we eventually just left without trying anything. Another negative was that they only seemed to have portable toilets available for people to use. Last stop. My party of four's epic Hudson Valley wine tasting adventure concluded at Applewood Orchards. Family owned and operated vintners, Jonathan and Michele Hull, a quaint winery of a barn and attention to detail with an apple cut out for the windmill on roof. Albeit, my party of four did not had the pleasure to met the vintners. Tastings at $5.00 each enables wine enthusiasts a choice of five wines to sample from a list. Unfortunately we were unable to sustain our wine tasting glasses, but I was able to attain a brochure and keep my wine tasting list with personal notes documented. The associate appeared very robotic to serve wine enthusiasts and, disappointingly, was not very informative to describe the wine administered or what entree would accompany best. The associate was also swooped to serve a lot of wine enthusiast clientele at first to be the only one but later backed by a second. The Vidal was refreshing as well as the Riesling. My personal choice preferred are the Apple Blossom Blush which is very light, the Cabernet Franc is very smooth and the Blackberry is a nice sweet tart. The gift shop is located in the foyer area where wine novelty items as T-shirt breast cancer jeweled "fight like a girl, drink like a lady" and wine towel inscribed "wine flies when you're having fun." We were excited to come here after having great experiences the past 2 years, especially loving the ambiance, live music, and food options (apples weren't the best quality or variety though). We were told today that the distillery and orchard are now 2 separate entities, parking is separate and now need to pay for it as well as being charged per person to get in. We lugged our stroller and wagon only to be turned away saying "you need to drive in your vehicle" so we can charge you, basically by some kids with pretty negative attitudes. What was once a big open space with lots of food options is now closed off by what looks like 2 warring businesses. We quickly turned away, refusing to pay like 60 bucks before you even pay for food. Been here twice and had great experiences each time. They have a lot of different types of apples. Not really an apple expert but I thought they were very good. You can eat the apples while you pick! So stuff yourself with a ton of apples before you go. They have 2 different sized bags. A small bag and a bigger bag. If you fill the small bag the total is $8 and if you fill the big bag it's $30. The big bag could hold about 40 apples. That's a lot of apples! They have their famous apple cider donut which is amazing! I always get 2 when we get there and then 2 dozen when we leave. And their Apple cider is very good as well. Especially during the colder days of fall. The only downside is that this place is kind of in the middle of no where with no reception. But if you're gonna be apple picking you shouldn't be on your phone anyway! I will continue to come back here every year! read more

It was my first Apple picking experience with my family and it was the best. We arrived nice and early, around 9:30am close to 10. And it was nice and peaceful. Parking was easy. We were driven up to the apple orchards by a truck and we were sitting in the back. It was a lovely view of the mountains and the land. The fields were big enough for each family to pick their apples and take pictures. And there was also a separate field of pumpkins. It starts to get crowded around 12pm or so. So it's so much better to come nice and early and enjoy the calm before the storm. So many lovely stores and winery and the smell of Apple and pumpkin pies and even their little donut factory makes you so excited for autumn. read more

My girlfriend and I spent the day at Applewood Orchards and Winery and left having had the best day we've had in a long time. We first went and did a wine tasting, then went to do some apple picking in the gorgeous orchard, then back for some live music and some more wine and cider :). The place was gorgeous. Wine and cider (especially the pumpkin) were scrumptious. We will definitely return. The one and ONLY suggestion is get there early. We arrived at 10:30 AM and it was the perfect time. By 12:30 the place we jammed packed with families and children. It gets very crowded and hectic. read more

The orchard is a little small for my preference and the variety limited, perhaps it's because we came later in the season. Do come early for it does get busy. You get to ride on a flat bed behind a tractor to the apple picking area which is fun, just don't sit in front.. The tractor wheels kick up a bunch of dirt. A filled large bag of apples is $30, if you fill half the bag it's $15 and so on. There is a pumpkin patch area, don't bother going there it's not much. Must do a tasting at their winery that's located right next to where they sell the doughnuts, apple pie, cider, etc. their hot cider was delicious as was the apple pie, the doughnuts would have been amazing if they were warm. If you're looking for hard cider they also have you covered as well as a variety of great wines made in house sold by the glass. read more

If you go apple picking in October just remember to come early as in before 11am early. It will make your trip much much better. The apple orchard is nice and spacious. I just wish that there were labels on what apple variants I was picking. I want to learn and compare on the different apples. Still a lot of apples to pick when we came (10/17). The area where we were picking were composed of small apple trees that my 3year old can easily reach. The pumpkin patch is just a field with pumpkins scattered around. Their picnic area is on the small side. I suggest bring a blanket and some chairs if you want to stay. Puppet show is fun. The band was engaging. No apples! We ended up picking apples from under the tress. There is a lot of traffic, it's not worth it at all. The apple cider is good. There was a small caramel dip stand and the lady running it was very friendly and has an amazing dip. I wasn't going go try it, but my husband was interested, and man it is the best caramel dip I've tasted. We got a case of wine, but I haven't tried it yet. The donuts were sold out at the end of the day and the food was also sold out. It's a pretty drive if you're from the city, but the traffic is not worth it. Our children had fun running around the trees, but there wasn't a single apple for them to pick so that was a huge disappointment. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon after going hiking at Harriman State Park. It wasn't super busy when we arrived at 12:30. They have a cute fall set-up, pumpkins and scarecrows everywhere! A lot of parking available as well. We went STRAIGHT to the food and wine tasting tent. They have BBQ type foods available. Pulled pork, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, potato salad and coleslaw. We both had the BBQ pulled pork and it was deliciousssss! They have a cute wine tasting tent set up next to the food tent- it's a bit small for the number of people that come in, and the lines can get pretty long... But at the time we went there wasn't a line. $6 for 5 tastings. I really liked the wawayanda white and the hard apple cider. My favorites. We hopped on the tractor and went for a ride in the vineyards for the apple picking. They have a ton of trees and plenty of apples to pick. $20 for a large bag of apples. The views are gorgeous and they have a small farm with beautiful sheep and roosters overlooking the lake and mountains. Beautiful! They also have a nice outdoor sitting area with a live band on the weekends. The line was way too long to get cider donuts tho :/ Around 2 o'clock it got super busy, I'm glad we came earlier. Not impressed. They wouldn't allow us to walk on the road to the apple patch. It simply doesn't make sense so we wound up not going.

There were no social distancing enforcements. Everyone was let in and people were shoulder to shoulder on the lines. Even though masks were required, people were not keeping their distance. We felt so uncomfortable and anxious spending time there. And to top it off after the huge lines, they ran out of donuts around 2pm. read more

Surprised by the negative reviews, guess it depends on when you go. We go here every year, usually end of september or early october. It is towards the end of the season but I think it is less crowded and there are still plenty of apples. Kids enjoy the tractor ride out to the orchards, and there are really nice views from the fields. We don't eat a lot of apples so we do it more for fun. They charge based on how full your bag is. We only got about a dozen or so apples and they just charged us $4, great deal. Also like the apple donuts they sell. They have wine tastings, but you don't go to this area for wine. There are other activities for younger kids that ours used to enjoy but are too old for now. But if you are looking to pick apples in a nice setting this is a good option. Strongly recommend going in the morning. We usually get there between 10-11am, by the time we leave it is very crowded. read more

Came here last Saturday and had an amazing time! There is so much to do from apple picking to wine tasting to eating a variety of food and more! Remember: CASH ONLY!!!!! This orchard is great because there are so many things to do. You really can spend the whole day here! The property is absolutely beautiful!!! There is a lake that you can walk around, a volleyball net on the lawn, a puppet show for kids every 30 minutes, live music while the puppet show is not going on for adults, a Halloween store, a wine tasting house, a beer tasting house, a cider tent, and probably more that I can't remember. My boyfriend and I started at the Cider Tent right outside the entrance. We started with a flight to share so we could taste all the different flavors and find our favorite. My favorite was the pumpkin cider so later on I got a pint! This tent takes credit card which was nice! We then walked around the property and went into the stores and beer house. My boyfriend ended up getting the dark cyde of the farm beer and he really enjoyed it! By that time we were hungry and there were a few options for food. They have a taco stand, a pizza over (by the cider tent), and a house that served nachos, pulled pork sandwiches, cider donuts, etc. We went for the pulled pork sandwiches and did we chose correctly. They were so good and really big! It came without BBQ sauce and you could it on your own and it came with a little side of coleslaw. Both were great! Eventually after taking in the beautiful scenery we decided to take a ride on the tractor to the apple orchard. You pay for the bag either small (.50) or large ($1) and then you pay for what you pick at the end. We came pretty late in the season but there were still a lot of apples left. We walked around and took so pictures but we ended up not getting any apples. Overall, the day was great and we will most likely be back next year! read more

After visiting, we all agreed -- this place is meant for the Instagram crowd. Apple picking is basically an afterthought. Daves essentially packages the "autumn experience" for the city crowd. Two music stages, food trucks/stands, your requisite Apple cider and donuts etc. Basically, if you dropped an Apple orchard in Hoboken or Brooklyn, this is what you'd get. If you are looking for a real apple picking experience -- one with rows of varying varieties, properly signed, go somewhere else. Or go here, because hardly anyone was picking apples! But it's fun!! I live this place. We've been visiting for 10 years an look forward to going everyday.. Due to COVID 19 there were no tractor rides but walking through the vineyards was refreshing. Wine is always great. love the Apple cider Donuts.. Bring cash and have a great time read more

We have been coming here for way over a decade and it has been a family tradition that I now share with my kids but unfortunately after this year that tradition has sadly come to an end. The winery and orchards are now two separated entities and they make it extremely annoying and inconvenient to be able to go to both places. Years ago we would enjoy apple picking and then enjoy a nice little picnic with a bottle of wine but now in order to go to the winery you have to drive to a separate parking lot when the walk is literally a 30 second walk. It's beyond stupid especially when you have young children to have to walk such a long distance to the apple orchard lot when it used to be right in the front. To apple pick they now charge $5 a person plus the fee of the bags which is $3. We already spent $40 and didn't even pick an apple yet. They claim it's a liability of walking in the road when cars are driving yet the space were parking is, you literally are walking on the same road to go to the orchard. It makes absolutely no sense. My husband who drinks beer wasn't even allowed to cross over the to the distillery to get a beer from the winery. It just doesn't make sense why they are willing to lose business for these ridiculous inconveniences. We will definitely not be coming back because the entire day was spent walking back and forth to our cars just to enjoy different parts of the orchard. Horrible experience this year read more

The orchard and the apples were decent today 9/28/20. The store was disappointing though as one would expect apple pies, baked goods, apple cider and other food. Masks were well in place. Social distancing was marginal. In the orchard, it would have been nice to see signage and or staff or at least a map. The two men at the registers were cordial. Pricing was so-so read more
