When I once worked in the area, this place was an extra special treat. I went to visit while in the area and boy how things have changed! The food was AWFUL! I ordered General Tso's Chicken and when I opened my to go container, nestled inside a thick goey sauce rocks! The Chicken was as hard as rocks and could not be chewed. Another disappointing Chinese restaurant in Gboro. Bland, boring and small serving. But it's cheap. Guess I got what I paid for.

Apple China sits on the corner of the Adams Farm shopping center close to the train tracks. You can order by phone or online via the Beyond Menu app. I like this spot because it is convenient. I like to order online and utilize their drive-thru. Their drive-thru is a feature I love. At times there is a wait in the drive-thru, but if you give yourself enough time between placing the order and pick up, that will make it quicker you (and everyone). Of course, you can't use your monster truck in the drive-thru and if you happen to have a monster truck, there is ample parking. The food is decent. I had the General Tso's chicken combo. It came with rice and a veggie egg roll. The chicken was cut in smaller pieces and you get a more crunchier taste...not so meaty. The crab Rangoon is also on the crunchy side with not much filling. You get more wrap when you take a bite. The chicken wings are flavorful...a tad greasy. If you need sauce, you may want to ask. I don't think they offer it freely. They offer a Japanese and lunch menu. So, there is a variety in case your friends or family can't decide. This is more of a take out spot. It is a small restaurant with maybe 4 tables inside. This is one of our favorite Chinese restaurants to eat. Normally I would rate them a 4 but the one issue we have is with their drive thru. This has happened Tonight, my husband waited in line for 30 mins (couldn't leave because he was blocked in by other cars) waiting on cars whose food wasn't ready. If their food has more than 5-20mins of time before it's ready, maybe have them go park or loop back around to allow the other people to get their food that is ready so that the food is still hot when received. read more

I called to ask if I could order half an order bourbon chicken and half an order orange chicken (totally willing to pay an up charge) and the lady yelled at me saying she couldn't do it. Then at the drive thru (the only way you can get your food) the lady was very short with me. After I started eating my food I noticed that orange chicken was more fried batter than chicken. I typically go here for convenience. Today I ordered the vegetarian delight combination which came with fried rice and I got a vegetable egg roll. The vegetarian delight include broccoli, carrots, zucchini, celery, mushrooms all in a delicious brown sauce. The vegetables were delicious they were cooked perfectly I really enjoyed them. Unfortunately the fried rice tasted old. I was highly disappointed with the rice that I received. With the combination you also received a vegetable Eggroll which was delicious. This review is a combination of my last visit and the visit I had today. Last visit, I ordered the vegetable egg foo young, vegetables with garlic sauce, and vegetable soup. The vegetable egg foo young was good, and came with a good amount of dipping sauce. The vegetables with garlic sauce were also good and had a typical Chinese garlic sauce on it. I ordered the vegetarian delight, Szechuan chicken with no breading, a spring roll, and my friend ordered a steak and shrimp hibachi. The spring roll was actually pretty good, although it was small. It tasted homemade. The vegetarian delight was pretty good, and the vegetables were fresh and crisp, but it contained no water chestnuts or baby corn, which was okay for me. I like the rice here, it is a bit smaller grain size and it's pretty good. They package the rice together in one container. The Szechuan chicken was just okay, it lacked a bit of zing in my opinion. My friend's hibachi was a disaster. He only got 3 shrimp, and five little chunks of dry steak, most of which were chewy. They gave him mostly rice. I had a feeling he shouldn't have ordered hibachi here. If I return, I'm sticking strictly to vegetable dishes, probably the vegetables and garlic sauce, which was the best thing I've had here. The best part about this place is the vegetables, because they aren't overcooked. I'd just stay away from the hibachi all together. read more

Absolutely the Best Hot Sour Soup around here. Love the crispies! They are awesome! I always order a large because I like to have leftovers. That rarely happens. My Family usually decides to steal it before my next meal. Last time I order 2 large containers and (we had Family in town) and I still only got one serving. I give it a four because most of the menu is also great but the bourbon chicken is the worst I have ever had. No flavor, no sauce and chewy. Would never order it again. Not to mention, we had to walk back inside for our sauces. My meal consisted of beef, shrimp and vegetables with rice. We ordered the crab ragoons, egg rolls. steak and shrimp teriyaki, and general tso's tofu. The ragoons were amazing and the egg rolls were good as expected. The tofu was spicy as we requested. The teriyaki steak and shrimp was okay. The steak was the sheets of beef you expect in many Chinese restaurants, but I was glad they at least had the option. The also don't give you much meat, mostly rice and onions. Overall, we'd give 3.5 out of 5 stars. read more

I stopped by Apple China and had some chicken fried rice and egg rolls. Both were very good, service was a bit lacking. It's in the Adams Farm Shopping Center on the end. The majority of their business is take out, but they do have a few little school cafeteria type booths if you want to dine in, they also have a drive-thru window to pick up your called in orders. They are stingy with their sauce packs apparently. There are none on the tables or counter, the lady asked me if I needed any sauces when my rice came out, she brought me 2 packs, 5-10 mins later a different person brought out egg rolls so I went to the counter to get some mustard sauce packs, but the lady had disappeared into the kitchen and never came back out to the dining area. She and the other 2 folks in the kitchen saw me standing at the counter as they would walk by the clear plastic curtain that divides the kitchen from the dining area, but didn't bother to acknowledge I was standing there. After being what seemed to be purposely ignored I just went back to the table and put the little egg rolls back in their little bag and we left...I really felt bad for those two eggrolls, they were more disappointed than I was that we couldn't secure more sauce packs, they were really looking forward to being dipped repeatedly in the spicy mustard:( 4 Star Food / 2 Star Service read more

We recently moved to the area and just tried Apple China. Honestly, it's the best Chinese food I've had in 20 years. We had: crab rangoons, Bourbon chicken, vegetable lo mein, and chicken chow mei fun--all amazing! It's 25 minutes roundtrip, but definitely worth it. We ordered vegetable egg rolls too--we just haven't tried them yet. Oh and the drive-up window is so convenient too!! Great idea. This is the worst chinese food my husband and I have ever eaten. The food was swimming in soupy bland sauce with very little meat. Shrimp egg rolls consisted of 1 tiny shrimp and a bunch of soggy tasteless cabbage. We threw away the food. There are so many other better options to spend your money on. I eat here when I have too. Nothing taste GREAT! I ask for extra spicy, I get mild or tasteless. Even the egg drop soup is mediocre at BEST. I call and order, they tell me 1O minutes, I leave my house in 10 minutes then still have to wait 10 more minutes in drive through. Get home and my food is cold enough I have to microwave it. I love the fact that you can order on the website and the food is ready for pick up at the drive thru very quickly. The food is pretty good. The man and woman there are very nice. We have really enjoyed everything we ordered here. We have had a noodle dish a couple times that was delicious. Also the best hot and sour soup I have ever had, loaded with mushrooms! The wings are also really good and very reasonably priced. It even has a convenient pickup drive-thru window on the side. Don't confuse this with the other Apple China in the food court on Market Street. They both have different owners and different menus, although food at both is excellent. Great food! This is some of the best Chinese food in the area. Love ordering online. I did have my order slightly messed up once but they were more than happy to fix it and were very apologetic. There was a young boy working (owners son perhaps) and he was quite miserable-looking and seemed like helping me was the last thing on his mind. But he's just like any other young boy so I can't blame him. Anyways, we have eaten here several times and love it! The color wasn't even the same. Also ordered a sweet & sour chicken. The cup of sauce to dip it in (sweet) was BLAND. It might as well had been colored water.
