Never a judge a book by its cover. Came across this place by chance while looking for a quick lunch for the family. Did not expect much by the exterior. But it seemed to be busy so we took a chance. Arriving at 1pm on a weekday, the buffet was still well stocked and had a nice variety of proteins. Beef and broccoli, chicken and broccoli, chicken for sweet & sour, General Tsao's chicken, chow mein and mei fun and other noodles, egg rolls and more. I had no problem finding items that were not deep fried and not loaded in sauce to make a filling lunch. And for dessert, an ice cream sandwich from the cooler was a delight. Today was my first and last time trying this place. I ordered takeout. The food was extremely dry and almost flavorless. My dad got the shrimp lo mein and said it was not good and really dry. My general Tao's chicken was more like dried jerky with almost no sauce. Lo mein noodles were also very dry even after adding soy sauce. The "egg rolls" only had one single strand of cabbage in each one. Even my dog (80lb German Shepherd) refused to eat the egg roll. She ate some chicken but then started hacking immediately afterwards. Guess it was too dry for her too. Wish I would've read some reviews before I decided to go here. I usually spend $50-$60 here for two adults and 5 children, which is not worth that, but it still gets the job done. I came here a few nights ago, and did not expect to pay $90! Why isn't China Ming Buffet worth it? There are tons of different varieties of chicken, even baked chicken! What you would usually expect from a buffet is variety, and there really isn't here. There are desserts, such as jello, pudding, and cake (which is dry). There are fixings for a salad. If you're looking to enjoy sushi, don't count on it at this restaurant. I had a piece of foil breaded into a wing. I threw what had away and called to inform them so I could get my money back. Do you know once I arrived to show her she stated she was not giving me my money back due to I didn't bring the rest of the wings and that she could place a new order. This Chinese food is not the best. Mediocre at best. Tasteless and one can barely tell the difference in the taste of the entrees for example general Tso chicken tastes like sesame chicken. So if your really craving Chinese this place might do, but I think it will leave you wanting. The food is like a spare tire it will get you where ur going, but it's not the real thing. read more

China Ming Buffet is a ok Cantonese/Mandarin resturant. The location it self is not that appealing being a slowly failing plaza and the inside could be fixed up and have a good cleaning. Also always check there rating they seem to yo-yo from low to high all the time and it seems its mostly temps on the buffet because they could all be a little hotter. Now to why come here. First lunch is there best value and its worth it. The lunch specials run around 3.99 for off the lunch menu and you get a nice serving size of food, fried rise and your main. Their cheese wontons are good when fresh and so are there teriyaki sticks. Dinner is another story if they are not busy the food can be old and not very easy to eat but if you catch them on a busy night the food is pretty good. They have all the average buffet items from General Tso's to sesame chicken and of course chicken nuggets. There buffet consists of 3 islands cold food and deserts, main items and soups fried items. They have bottle beers and Pepsi on fountain. My final though is just get take out they do it well and its worth the price. If your in town for lunch the buffet isn't bad if you see a lot of people. The place is old, small, and run down. The waitress was sitting at a table eating a huge plate full of chicken nuggets and would come by every so often and take one or two plates at a time off the table and leave the rest. The food, for the most part, was disgusting. The only thing eatable was the Lomein and fried rice. Everything else was nasty. this restaurant is horrible. Do not waste your time. put Veg lo mien on plate there literally was one piece of shaved carrot the rest noodles. Asked the waitress if this is normal. Then took one bite it was HORRIBLE. Went to the front to complain. Was advised this is what you get when you order the buffet. If you order from the menu you get lots of vegetables. Attempted to order off the menu, then advised that we had already ordered the buffet so we were going to have to pay for that plus the other item. This is the only Chinese buffet in Lexington currently. Its not great Chinese food by any means, but its cheap and it is a buffet. So if you are really hungry and want some so-so Chinese food while saving a few bucks, then its not that bad. read more

Sanitation score is excellent at a 97. Food is still pretty tasty after all these years (I recommend the honey chicken and the sweet rolls). The price is also very reasonable at $7.25 for lunch. Definitely worth dropping by! read more

I don't expect 5 star restaurant food at a buffet . There was not any lettuce in the salad bar at all. All salad dressings and ketchup bottles had cracks in them so big that they were leaking and crusty dried at dispenser tip and surrounding area . A big breeder for bacteria! Not health code standard! They also were store bought bottles with the name brand tore off, obviously refilled. Not food safety issued! All the soups had a large, thick, crusty film on top. This wasn't from just not being stirred, it was extremely old! Not one thing was of a pleasant temperature! Price isn't an issue. Although there were no pricing listed at all! Very surprised with a $30 bill! Horrible, despicable food and customer service! Inside of the place was very outdated. Paint and wallpaper peeling off. A makeshift rug was actually duct taped (roughly) between dining area and buffet area. I'll never go back and waste hard earned money for old, disgusting food! Don't waste your money! I have never made a single complaint nor opted for a discounted or free meal. After getting hit in the head with the $30 bill, I was quite upset and asked "$30 for this"? And they actually laughed, said some things in Chinese and laughed again! (Rude) She told me everything was fine!
