Never had anything we didn't like, we have been regulars to this spot for the past five years or so. We typically get broccoli in brown sauce, lo mein, or something of the sort. They do a great job with the food, it is always tasty fresh and hot. Shrimp Egg Foo Yung is very tasty, we have ordered just the gravy by itself before to use at home on our own(its that good). They are very accommodating if you want something off menu, as well. Just a tip call your food in ahead of time because it is typically not very speedy, but definitely worth the wait. If it was fast, I would have defiantly gave them five stars. I have been a customer for many years, but in recent years, I have seen prices increase and food quality decrease. I have been ordering the same meal ever time and NEVER know if it will be correct. Tonight's order was awful! Chicken was cooked so much, it was inedible, sauce was like water, broccoli overcooked and if you don't ask for your fortune cookie, guess what, you don't get one. It's a complete hell no for me. This was the last resort anyway because I wanted hibachi fusion. I called and ordered fried dumplings and Mongolian chicken. They told me it will be ready in 15 minutes. I live 10 minutes away so I left in time for me to get there and my food to be ready. When I got there my food was NOT ready. I had to wait another 10 minutes outside to get it and when I got in my food was ready but she stuff some things in there and stapled the bag. When I got home I saw that my dumplings were burnt and I tasted the Mongolian chicken and it tasted like nothing. Actually it was similar to pepper steak but made with chicken and a little bland. I really debated if I should go with a 2 here, but I tend to always give a place a second chance first. First time eating here, I did the online delivery through yelp. It was pretty easy to do online no issues at all. Of course on the payment page it has a tip option, which I always use because I don't tend to carry cash and want to make sure the driver gets something. First problem, when the food finally got here the driver brought it to the door and quickly let me know not to leave a tip online because he would not get it. Honestly I have never heard of that before so it was kind of off putting. I apologized and told him I would remember that next time. Anytime I am trying a new Chinese restaurant I always get the same 4 things. First, I get the shrimp egg rolls, or if they don't have them, the standard egg rolls, this place had shrimp so I ran with it. You can only imagine after an hour waiting they were a bit soggy when they got here, and the flavor was pretty standard, but they seemed only about half filled. Next dish I ordered was the BBQ Spare ribs, and they did call to check if I wanted bone-in or boneless, I got bone-in, next time I will get boneless. I liked the sauce, but it was pretty tough eating. I also ordered a small beef lo mein and I may be crazy, but I swear they fixed it with white wine which is something I have never tasted before in a lo mein. It also feels like they use thin spaghetti and not usual lo mein noodles. So I am not sure if I very much a fan of it. Finally I got the house fried rice, and this was good, so definitely the highlight of the meal. So at least not all was lost. I will order again, but next time probably just go pick it up, because that delivery thing with the tip thing bugs me and if they blow me away will be happy to do another review. China Garden is a New York-style Chinese takeout restaurant located on S. Holden Road in a shopping center with a run-down looking Food Lion and a pretty busy Papa John's. I almost left before ordering because of how it looked but decided not to judge a book by its cover because I have done that on too many good restaurants before. The interior of the restaurant is pretty unappealing although most of the customers seemed to have called in their orders and probably didn't notice it. One of the employees had just mopped the floor which left my nose with the faint, burning sensation that you get from inhaling too much bleach that was reminiscent of working at a bar during my college days. As sketched out as I was about my order before I ate it, I was actually impressed with the quality and taste of the food. I got the General Tso's chicken combination plate which was actually made with quality chicken and had a nice spice to it. It was fried correctly so that it was crispy and not soggy after the sauce is added. It came with pork fried rice which was surprisingly cooked to order and even had a freshly fried egg in it. The egg roll it came with was sub-par. I always get an order of pork dumplings when I get Chinese food. The filling of the dumpling had a great taste to it although I suspect it wasn't made in house and the dipping sauce was delicious and more than just a soy sauce like a lot of places will serve. I ordered them fried and they cooked them in the pan a little too long giving them an overly crisp exterior which I didn't really like. Call ahead and order if you decide to get food from here. I had to wait a little longer than expected but I would actually put China Garden up there with some of the best NYC-style carry-out Chinese places in town. read more

This review is written in comparison to all the other Chinese spots I've tried in Greensboro. I will say that in general Greensboro is less than average as far as ethnic foods go. If I was to compare this to the Philadelphia hole in the wall spots I'm used to or even 7 cities va this place would get 3 stars bc it is average on that scale. As far as here in Gboro it is well above average. They know that sautéed vegetables still means to cook them (more than steamed) but not until they all taste the same. Their General Tso's chicken has never tasted stale and old the times I've gotten it. You can actually see the shrimp in the shrimp and broccoli meaning they don't use the salad size. 'Hole in the Wall' exactly describes the China Garden. It is situated in-between a well traveled Papa John's and a nail place in a slightly sketch strip mall. There is a key to eating well at China Garden. Call in your order before hand, do not wait...you actually might change your mind. Ambiance is not their forte', but surprisingly, their Chinese is! I am especially pleased with the Lo Mein dishes they offer, and the Teriyaki Chicken while a little fatty, was pretty decent. Many items I will no longer order (cook them myself and must admit I create excellent Asian dishes!) However this restaurant has excellent delivery fast service. My family loves their food. Myself?
