Of all the Apple products that I've gone through throughout my life, I'm heavily dependent on this Apple store for all my Apple needs. I'm quite stunned with how low some of the reviews are from other customers because I've only had nothing but stellar service. The only time I've ever needed to go to another location was when my Macbook Pro started acting out and this location was unable to fit me in for an appointment but they were able to accommodate me by scheduling me at another Apple location. I recently visited on my lunch break in need of new AirPods and was literally running on seconds before my next work meeting. The person that helped me was totally understanding and was able to answer the questions that I needed answer, rung me up, and I was out the door no more than 10 minutes. read more

This is definitely an if-i-could-give-zero-stars-i-would situation. I can't tell if it is greed or stupidity that has led to such a terrible store experience, but it's bad enough that this will be my last iphone. I shouldn't leave a store INFURIATED when I have just dropped 1000 bucks on a phone, but here we are. From the moment you enter the store, the poorly designed customer service is front and center. There is no one to greet you and no one to approach for help, you have to wait until someone walks up to you, but they won't be the one helping you. Instead they put your name on a list and you wait. There are lots of employees here, mostly chatting to each other, but if, after waiting, you inquire about when you'll be helped, you'll be yelled at that there are only 2 people working your section, and to wait. Eventually someone will approach you, friendly enough, but if you need to get an item out of your bag, or there is the slightest issue (I wanted to use my Apple Card, which wasn't working), they will disappear and start helping others. When you have sorted the problem and let them know, you will be scolded that they are "with a customer!". What am I? When our "helper" finished with that customer, they moved on to another, at which point, I inquired again, can I just buy the phone you went and got for me and have in your hand. Again "I am with a customer!" I get that Apple wants to sell as many items as possible, but it really comes at the expense of any customer service. After purchasing the phone, you will be pointed to the back and told someone can help you there. Go up to the "Genius Bar" and be ignored. Approach someone and yes, again, "I am with a customer!" There is simply no order or logic to how this store is run. Again, is it a mad dash to sell items or is someone just not doing their job managing this place? Other highlights: at one point I needed a pen to write down a bypass code from T-Mobile. I asked an employee. She laughed and said there wasn't much use for pens in the store and walked away. I approached to employees chatting to each other and was scolded for interrupting their conversation. Employees have zero soft skills, but I think it goes beyond that to poor training and management. Apple skated by on its products, but the 16 generation is no longer competitive (their AI sucks) and you can only get away with such poor customer service for so long. It will be a hassle, but I'll be migrating out of icloud. read more

I had a good experience at the Apple Store. My iPhone 13 Pro had a crack on its camera lens. Fortunately, I had Apple Care+ coverage and was able to pay a fraction of what I would've had to pay otherwise. You are allowed to check in 10 minutes before your Genius Bar appointment only. I came earlier than that so killed time at the bookstore nearby! Once I was checked in, I still had to wait at the table to be seen. It took about one hour for my phone to be fixed. There are a lot of employees roaming and everything is well-stocked. Didn't have an issue finding the items I wanted (wallet & iPhone case) in the color I wanted. I have been an Apple user for over twenty years and have never had such poor service. I am shocked and so sad that I can no longer rely on Apple products or Apple's customer service. I was immediately told they would not repair it if I dropped it. I said I never dropped my watch and did not understand how it could be scratched after months of wear. I have antique watches that never got scratched after decades of wear, but this new Apple Watch 9 series gets scratched up after months of wear. Give me a break. Where is the new technology? Here is the status that I had to ask to be emailed to me several times: "Your repair is completed, and your product is on its way back to you." I got no repair and additional scratches when returned. The kicker is that I was told aluminum watches scratch, and I should have bought a titanium watch to avoid scratches. I would have also received better support if I had bought Apple Care. Why even sell products that are easily damaged? Where is the Keep It Green with lasting products that Tim was so proud of? I never needed Apple Care before for a watch, but now Apple sells cheap products. I'll share this with Tim Cook and see if my days as an Apple customer are over. Apple 4th Street - New AirPods charging - Mobile Phones Near Me - Berkeley, California

Without a doubt, this the worst customer experience I have ever had with Apple. On June 2nd, I order an IPad Air online to be shipped to the store. (Supposedly to arrive on the 6th). The 6th came and went, so did the 7th, 8th, etc... on the 12th, I get curious and see why I cannot pick up my iPad yet, it's been shipped to the store and I know that this Apple Store has iPads in stock (exact color and space size that I ordered). Before I head to the store, I call Apple customer service to make sure that my IPad is there and I am told it arrived. I head to the store, ask one of the employees to see if they can get my IPads, and I was told no, it's not ready for pick up yet. To their credit, I admit I didn't have the email yet saying it's ready for pick up, but I'm getting a bit anxious since it was supposed to arrive the week prior. I call Apple support again while I am at the store and ask them why my iPad is not ready for pick up since I was told that it did arrive at the store. They tell me that the iPad arrived on the 7th, so it should be in the back. The customer service rep then asked me to give my phone a manager at the store to see if they can get to the bottom of this. After about a half hour and some back and forth, they store told the customer service rep on my phone that the box is empty and my IPad (the one I already paid in full) is missing, the manager hands the phone back to me and then heads off to grab another iPad. (The manager never told me directly that the iPad was missing). Here I am thinking ok, so they can probably swap it for one they have in stock, but no. I'm still talking with the customer service rep and I get the following options. 1. I can buy an entirely different iPad and wait to get a refund for the one that went missing, or 2. I can wait for a replacement to be shipped to the store in a few days. I took option 2, since I wasn't in the position to buy 2 iPads and wait for a refund to my card. Now on the 17th, I still don't have a my iPad. I see a change to my online order that a replacement is being shipped, but there is no further updates there. I will say this, the online customer service reps are trying to get this to work out and they said they would ship an Apple Pencil pro with the iPad as sort of a sorry for the trouble, so I will give them credit there. Yet, this whole experience has been exhausting, I've spent several hours on the phone with customer service reps at this point and the store didn't mention the iPad was missing until I went in person and asked. If I had know it would be this much trouble, I would have bought it elsewhere. read more

The thing tht makes this store much better than the Emeryville location is that they have parking. Be it on the street, in a lot, they have it in spades. I remember the days when you had to order items from Apple online and were stuck with what you bought. But now you can see the items and purchase them. I participated in some classes here. They do have a problem with customer service. It's quite frustrating to make an appointment only to have them acknowledge it and then have to wait up to 45 minutes to be seen. Everytime I checked in, they said that someone would be with me in five minutes. I would have appreciated it if they would have told me that they were backed up and made another appointment. They have to find a way to manage that better. Once I made an appointment when I got there because of a cancellation. And they agreed to call me five minutes before the appointment. They did and I went and I waited another 40 minutes to be seen. Like Elon Musk, they need to acknowledge that they are terrible at time management. It's not a secret. The classes/trainings are great, but you only get them for two years with the Apple Care Plan. read more

I made an online appointment based on their website, got an appointment next day around noon. Parking was tough as it was lunch time on a weekday. Once entering the store, it looked like a zoo full of people. A rather young large employee took my name after waiting in line for 8 mins, told me to wait at a table full of people. I told I want to buy a 15pro and get out of there. He ignored my request, so I walked around and get asking other employee what I wanted and not having to sit in a table of 8-10 people who had trouble with their iPhones. A woman employee actually stopped and requested another person to help me buy the phone. Within 30 mins, my info was e-transferred into the 15pro iPhone, paid and gave them my old phone as a trade-in. Overall, their process is broke, but getting the right employee is a trick and you can be out with a new phone in 30mins. All meter parking on 4th street and enforcement is really tough. read more

Visited the Genius Bar today to get my Mac checked out as the keyboard suddenly stopped working. There were a couple frustrating things about this visit: 1.Since my laptop wasn't charged, the "genius" plugged it into the charger and repeatedly tried to start it. He then questioned me on whether the laptop turned on after I insisted I used it a few days ago. Eventually I got another employee to test if the charger worked and as I suspected, their charger was broken. 2. They quoted me $448 to fix the keyboard without running any diagnostics on the laptop. This place felt like a used car dealer than what I remember Apple customer service used to be like. read more

My 10 year old iMac still worked great for web browsing and iTunes library of over 12k songs, but it no longer could update to latest OS and ms 365 as a result would not add the security patches needed to keep those cyber crooks outta my bizness. Even tho I got a work PC laptop, I rarely use it as the Mac is just so damn simple! While I went on line to see how much a trade in credit would get me, (nada... as a matter of fact they offered to destroy it for a fee). I knew it was just a matter of time. So I swung by the 4th st location earlier this week having already done my research on the new iMac model and config I wanted. Without pulling out a wallet, I was able to apply for Apple Credit card(no fee) on my iPhone and by the time I was approved, 30 seconds tops, the gent who was assisting me walked up with a new iMac I had a couple of lines of information to add to his own Mobile device then waved my phone over his and poof in less than 2 minutes, I had just spent 2 grand! I commented to the gent who served me..." dude that was waaaay to easy to drop that kind of cash!" He commented "trust me, Apple makes separating you from you money so easy you almost forget how much our stuff is!" Do I have buyers remorse? Absolutely not! I nursed my previous I Mac adding ram and memory for ten years as a workhorse! Created many movies managed music and made it work as my home work computer for years! And while I thought of donating it, Bae quickly reminded me her iTunes and photos are on there, so she will keep it. And transfer to the cloud when she gets around to it. We don't have a tv in the living room but the picture n sound on the new iMac are so impressive, we have been watching the morning show on our free 1 year subscription of Apple TV. Awesome read more

Absolute worst experience with any Apple Store I have ever had!!! They violated Apple policies, did not contact me, causing me massive problems and then tried to blame me for it. I special ordered a MacBook Pro to have delivered for in store pick up. It arrived early when I could not pick it up up and they sent it back early before the weekend. I was waiting 2 weeks and I needed it for school, my old one has issues that is costing me productivity, and I super busy because the program I am in is very rigorous. They would not cancel the process after admitting their error asking me to doing ordering and payment process over. Troy tried to say it was my fault. No, Troy, you got this machine early and sent it back early. This is costly to my time and energy when I really needed this computer and to save time, and they cost me more. All they had to do was call me as they cancelled my trade-in and sent it back saying we would have to do the order, payment, and wait all over again. I don't have time for that. Go to the Emeryville Store. They will burn you in Berkeley and do nothing for you. Terrible service, rude, and costly of my time and energy. read more

My mac has a defected display (internal crack that came from MacBook display being defected). I took it to this Apple store to resolve the issue, but the Genius Bar lead blamed physical damage on me and said Apple's limited warranty does not cover any physical damage despite the product being defected because of poor workmanship (which is what the Apple Limited Warranty covers). Lady in charge of Genius Bar was snarky and not willing to help. Don't waste $1800 on a Mac here, they'll force you to pay another $750 to repair their garbage products read more

The service today was awful. There were plenty of staff and very few customers. My order, which was visible to them online, said my items were paid for and ready for pickup at the 4th st store. The manager said it was not in the store's system and they could not give them to me unless I paid again. I get that the systems didn't match up but the manager did not make any effort to fix that. When I later called Apple it was easy to fix. The manager should have called Apple. read more

Well, I didn't keep the iPad we bought in my initial review. It was too foreign to me. It wasn't until Nina introduced me to the Shanghai Majong game on her iPad 4 or 5 years ago in Ashland and I got hooked on it that I developed the right touch for Apple devices. Alan gave me a hand-me-down iPad and now I have an iPhone. That's progress! But the reason for this review is an appointment Alan made me to take his new Mac AirBook in to this Apple store to get a problem solved. In the time between Sunday, when he made the appointment and yesterday (Monday) he decided not to keep the AirBook. He told me last night and I called the store today to cancel. There was an automated system that understood full sentences, but what would have been helpful and much simpler would have been the option to just speak directly w/ someone in the store and tell them. Instead, when the automated system couldn't deal w/ my request it transferred me to their customer service line. The problem was that they had Alan's cell phone number to text, not mine, and he doesn't always look at his cell phone. I knew from Alan's experience Sunday that that could take a very long time, so after 5-10 minutes I hung up. On the plus side, the system explained things pretty well and, best of all, gave me a choice of musical genres to listen to while on hold. I wish everyone did that! I called Alan and asked him whether I should blow off the appointment or go down there to tell them I wasn't keeping it. He said to blow it off, so that's what I did. read more

Installed a cam cover on my laptop and the pressure between two uneven sides pressed together in my backpack, well, caused my screen to crack. So I brought my item to this store for repair- only one of three Apple stores in the ENTIRE Bay Area open for repair, purchase (pick-up), or Genius Bar appointments. I was told the queue took about 25-30 mins from end to front on a Friday afternoon around 4-530p. My appointment was at 515p so I started the queue around 440p. We have been loyal Apple Customers, beginning in the 1990's and have both purchased I-Phone for at least I-phones. As an educator, Mark has used Apple computers and laptops, and Thanongsak has owner several I-Pads. Recently, Thanongsak purchased an I-Phone 14 Pro. About 3 months after purchasing it, the phone started just shitting off at random times. When we took it to the Apple store, their diagnosis was that everything was fine. The offered a swap, but what arrived was not a new phone. So we returned it. A few days ago, the phone totally shut down, and would not charge or restart at all. After going to the Apple store and having it checked, we were today that app. 2/10 these phones have the same problem, and that it would cost app. $500 to fix, and that it had no value in trade in if it did not power up. This phone is just a little over 1 year old.We have been purchasing Apple because because of the quality of the product that we had know for many years. However, it seems that this is not true and more. Is there something that Apple can do to remedy this situation - as we would to continue Apple products, and we hope that Apple is still committed to producing quality products. We find it quite curious that we still own Apple computers and phones that function very well, even though they are 10-20 years old, while the newer Apple devices have been giving us problems after only 1 - 3 years. read more

I've been here a couple times to browse, one time to see about getting my old phone fixed up, and one time to pick up a new phone. The Apple Store (naturally) sells Apple products and showcases a wide variety of them from tablets to phones to watches (and computers I think). There are a lot of Apple employees working here to answer your questions, if you have any. It's a great store to come in and try a new piece of hardware if you're thinking about buying/upgrading. There's a Genius Bar at the back of the store. I once waited there for 5-10 minutes before having my broken old phone evaluated. Cost of repair would've been $129 and might've taken a few days. I opted to not get it repaired there as I decided to get a new phone, and I eventually found another venue they could fix up the old phone faster and at a cheaper price. The other time I ordered a new phone online and went to the store for pick up. I gave them a QR code, waited 5 minutes, got my phone, and was on my merry way. This Apple Store is routinely robbed each year, so much so that Berkeley Police Department stationed police officers right in front to guard the store. Those BPD officers were replaced by four private security officers last year after weeks of no activity, but a recent robbery in the last month has seen the return of the police officers. That's all to say 1) don't be surprised by the police car outside the Apple Store and 2) don't worry if you see an active robbery -- the robbers are there for the hardware, not you. read more

Unbelievably rude and inconsiderate staff. There is no human compassion, and a lack of critical thinking. It is clear they have been giving a script and then lie about new terms and procedures, because they do not know the answer. Their solution for things is to buy a new one. It would be better to just mail in ones device directly to apple for repairs then to go here and waist ones time. I understand the need to up sale, but in our current global crisis, it is more environmentally friendly to fix something as opposed to just buying something new. I was informed by two different sales/repair people that any device over 5 years old is obsolete outside of the state of CA and in CA 7 years. What is the point of buying an Apple device if it is just going to be obsolete in 5 to 7 years. I am saddened to see apple taking part of the Throw-away society. My friend went in due to a storage problem that set her phone in a loop. The first guy who helped briefly mentioned that there's a chance they need to wipe the data and restore her phone. But he said there might be hope. The second guy who helped us came (technician) and without really explaining what he's doing started plugging the phone into the computer. He left the table and we sat for another 15 minutes and a new technician came to explain to us what's happening to the phone. She said "oh it seemed to have been restored..." which we were shocked since we didn't get any warning it was going to be wiped. The male technician didn't check with my friend beforehand and decided to wipe 3 years of data... Although my friend knew that was a possibility, it would've been nice to have known that they decided to wipe her phone. Maybe just double check or inform the customer before erasing the last 3 years of memories, messages, etc. :( Otherwise, the two women who helped us were very kind and helpful in explaining what's going on (after the fact it happened). read more

I went in to trade my Series 2 watch for a new one and was met by the manager Charmayne who walked me through my options until an associate was available to see it through. She was fun, attentive and absolutely interested in helping me get what I wanted. Then the associate Drew arrived and seamlessly picked up the ball with the same superior level of customer service. I just went in to trade in my old watch and did not expect much more but I ended up having blast with Charmayne and Drew and also felt sincerely taken care of in between. This is the third time I've been here and experienced horrible service. This time I had an appointment and was only seen 20+ minutes after the appointment time. They could have texted me to say they were running late. They don't read the appointment notes. If they had- they would have known I was there for a warranty offer. After they started a "diagnostic" I went to go feed the meter since I'd been waiting so long. When I got back, the person "helping" me had abandoned my computer in the middle of the store. I'm sure I could have grabbed it and walked out with no one noticing. When they finally noticed me- they told me that the computer is too old for the warranty offer. This information was 100% available upon my check-in. What a waste!!! This place needs to be closed Maybe if they hired women for technician and other higher level jobs it would be better. YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2018 - PART 2: 5/100 Five weeks after putting in a request, Apple store finally reached out to Hubbers advising him to set up an appointment to have his IPhone battery replaced. My experience at the Manhattan Beach store left an extremely horrid taste, so I expected nothing different from this store. I walked in right around the appointment and was immediately greeted. I was then instructed to go out back and sign in. It's a good thing he pointed specifically who I needed to speak to. With the crowd, it was a little hard to differentiate between customer and employees. (No, their shirts weren't a lot of help.) So, I signed in, was told to take a seat. 5 minutes, and nothing. Not too long after that, I was tended do. Gave my and Hubbers' contact info, handed the phone over, was told it should be ready in a couple of hours and I was on my merry way. (I thought, "Huh... that was easier than I expected...) Hubbers and I had a movie to catch around the time we were asked to return, so we decided to claim it a bit earlier (15 minutes. No biggie.) Sure enough, it was good and ready! And oh, they were much MUCH friendlier than the MB spot. They can learn a thing or two (errrr... a LOT!) from this store's staff. Good experience overall. Should have gone to Best Buy. I bought a MacBook this week from apple - big mistake. It hasn't been working properly since it came out of the box. After speaking to tech support twice, I finally decided to bring it to the so-called genius bar for replacement. I had to wait in line 20 minutes just to get to the door troll. The door troll denied me entry because I did not have an appointment. I asked if I could simply drop off the computer and get a call about it. "No, you need an appointment and just so you know appointments are scheduled way out." In other words: Apple requires you to make an appointment to return a brand new defective product. smh. read more

I have had great experiences at a lot of Apple store, this however, was truly a nightmare. I bring in my MacBook Pro that I had bought less than a year ago and it is still under warranty for screen display issues. They tell me when I drop it off that it is covered and it will cost me $0 to fix. A day later I get a call and updates on the computer and they confirm the repair costs are $0. When I get a notified that the repairs are finished I go into the store. They hand me the MacBook and say I owe them $750. I let them know that the repair should be free--- they have confirmed it twice already. The manager makes me wait for an hour while he "looks up information." He comes back and says that they made a mistake when they quoted me $0. He insists I pay the 750. Like any reasonable person I say no. He goes back in the store to deliberate with his other managers. He comes back and says, our mistake all we ask is $100 for Apple care. He knows he can't get money from me because it would be breaching consumer protection laws. So he says "I will ask, but not require you to pay $100." He knows charging me anything is illegal--but still insists. Again, he is the MANAGER. Do not go here. The workers are great. Management is EXTREMELY shady, rude, and corporate needs to shake up the managers here. Go to any other Apple Store. read more

Horribly disrespectful of your time. I was transferring data from one phone to another which they said would take 20-25 minutes total. However, 30 minutes in and the transfer had not started. When I asked to leave and come back they said I had to stay with my phone. I was not allowed to leave for more than an hour while my phone updated and transferred data. This was really disappointing and I shouldn't have to be held there against my will when things take twice as long as the employees say it will. read more
