Delicious food! I've tried many entrees and a few appetizers. Everything is good. Done in it carry out food is fresh and large portions.

This is a pretty solid Thai restaurant if you need a dinner spot in Brown Deer! We started with crab rangoons, and AppeThai's are truly awesome! They are really creamy and have a lot of filling. We ordered Kang Dang (red curry), Pad Kee Mow (drunken noodles), and their special for the night which was halibut. All were very good, but a little spicier than we anticipated (we all ordered mild). We definitely sniffled through the whole meal, but hey, at least my sinuses are clear now. My favorite of the three dishes was the noodles. On the upside, this place is in a nice area. There's plenty of parking in the lot. The place seems very clean. And the people working there were nice. For our first visit, we shared an entree of Pad Kee Mow (Drunk Man Noodle) with tofu, and an entree of Kang Keaw Wan (Green Curry) with tofu. We were going to have them ramp up the spiciness a bit since "the usual" is usually too bland for us. But the server (Tikky?) talked us out of it. And good thing she did! Both were pretty spicy. The Pad Kee Mow was really good -- big scratch-made noodles with big hunks of tofu and great flavors. The Kang Keaw Wan was okay, but not great. And the tiny scoop of white rice sitting in the middle of a large plate was nowhere near enough to go with the huge bowl of curry. We like beer with Thai, but the selection at Appe is poor, and overpriced too. $5 for a PBR? Pu-leeze. All in all, we probably won't be back. Sad, because it's the best Thai we've had in Wisco. But the prices are just too dear, and that's not offset by the superhuman-size portions. The deal is, we just want a meal to eat there, not boxes of leftovers to take home. If Appe Thai would just cut the portions by 20% and the prices by ~$2, and charge a reasonable $3 for a PBR, we'd make the trip to Brown Deer on a regular basis. Oh yeah ... one of my pet peeves is being lectured on the bill about how much to pay the owner's employees for serving us (i.e., the tip). But when that lecture starts at 18% and goes up ... well, that's the last straw. read more

Great take out spot, they have online ordering which is easy to maneuver as calling your order in may take time as the line is generally busy. We ordered the pad Thai, shrimp drunken noodles, Thai chicken stir fry and basil chicken stir fry. All mild spice, everyone loved their meals. The Thai stir fry is a 0/5 spice level, not spicy at all! Pad Thai and drunken noodles were a nice mild 2/5 spice and the basil stir fry was the spiciest probably about 3/5. They have a large menu and you can choose your meat option to make any meal suit your taste buds! Multiple vegetarian options as well. Orders are out on a table for swift pick up, if you can opt for curbside and call when you arrive for someone to bring your order out to your car. read more

Not all Thai food is created equal and AppeThai stands out! Service is top notch. Not too much but never leaves you waiting. We started with a beer and a cocktail. I had the Raspberry Zinger mojito very festive though a little too sweet for me. Our meal began with Fresh Roll bites. Refreshing and just enough. Next up I had Tom Kha Gai soup just a hint of heat and delicious coconut creaminess. For the main course I tried their signature dish - Volcano Chicken it comes out sizzling and smelling fabulous. I've been looking for decent Thai in the Midwest for awhile now. I have driven far and wide and suffered through gruel that tasted like mushy, oily Chinese food in watery sauce. I was starting to think the Midwest would never have any respectable Thai restaurants. So, my heart and soul was lifted when I finally had the chance to try Appe Thai. It has been over a year since a coworker had told me about the place. "It's far away but authentic!" he said. The long drive North paid off. The best Thai I have found in Milwaukee! They have my favorite crab Rangoon ever (the plum dipping sauce! So good!) and I love the beef or chicken pad see ew. Add in a Thai iced tea and you have the perfect takeout meal! Have never ate in but it looks so cozy. read more

But I couldn't give Appethai a higher rating because I've been a customer since they opened and they refused to honor a mistake on my take-out order. I ordered Drunken Noodle and when I arrived home, I noticed it had no sauce, no vegetables and only plain rice noodles and pork and that's it!! I called the restaurant to let them know the situation and could hardly believe the "oh well, too bad so sad" attitude. There was no mention of rectifying my order or anything. Their prices are rather expensive but I felt the taste and quality were there to justify it. Great Thai Food i ordered the Thai fresh spring roll appetizer with peanut sauce. Excellent! Pad Woon Sen, which I was supposed to save half for lunch the next day. I couldn't stop eating it. It was filled with lots of veggies and chicken and best I'd ever tasted. It's usually the dish I always order to decide if I would return for a second time.. I was a walk in. It was Tuesday, I ordered to go, was told it would take 20 min. Seemed like 5 when she handed it to me . While in the area, we came here as a recommendation and were very pleased with both the food and service. The Pad Thai and coconut soup was excellent. The drunken noodles and duck curry was spicy and very tasty. My husband loved the scallops and his only complaint was that he wished the entree was a little larger for the price. Terrific location! I live in the area and I've frequented this location a few times now. So far entree-wise I've tried the Red Curry and a few of the Pad Thai. All have been overwhelmingly delicious. The Pad Thai is my absolute favorite. I'm a sucker for wide rice noodles and this place really delivers on thick and tender noodles bursting with flavor. I've also tried their crab rangoons which although a tad expensive, are some of the best I've ever had. If you get a chance don't sleep on their desert either. They have delicious hand made ice cream and the last couple times I've been there they offered a passion fruit cheesecake topped with coconut - amazing, rich and a perfect way to end a great meal. read more

We came here a few nights ago and the service was terrific. I ordered the spring rolls and pad Thai, and my friend had the chicken yellow curry and crab rangoon. The spring rolls came with a delicious sauce and were not too oily. The pad Thai was extremely flavorful, but beware of the spice! I love spicy food and the medium was a lot hotter than I had expected. Also, the portions were enormous! Two people could definitely share a pad Thai and be completely satisfied. What a gem for Brown Deer and the northern suburbs! You cannot go wrong with anything here. I've never been disappointed by a menu item or a special...and wow do they have nice specials! I'm no Thai food novice, so on my first visit, I went right for some adventuresome sounding curry and noodle dishes. I like Thai heat while my wife prefers mild. Unlike some other Thai restaurants, they do a good job of tailoring the heat to the customer's request. Upon subsequent visits, we brought guests who were newer to Thai food, so I can say that AppeThai does the "basics" like Pad Thai quite well. But more about that special! One weekend night they had a seafood special that can best be described as "Thai paella" It was terrific: full of flavor and loaded with a great variety of seafood. I highly recommend AppeThai. To summarize in four words: the food was bland. Very bland. AppeThai, however, is located in the Village of Brown Deer, Wisconsin. Could it be the case that tastes in Brown Deer differ from more cosmopolitan areas? And if that is the case, should I apply a "bland taste preferred" multiplier to my rating to offset my tastes versus that of Brown Deer? No. One star due to blandness. read more

My first time at this restaurant. It was just written about in the local paper as a "must try". Began with the chicken satay appetizer. Excellent. Loved the dipping sauces. I ordered the pad Thai chicken and my husband ordered the pad Thai shrimp. Wonderful flavors. Substantial amount so we took home the rest for another meal. Restaurant is very clean, tastefully decorated, and at last a place that is playing what I assume is native Thai music. It has been at least 15 years since I had experienced the chef's cooking when he had a place in Mequon (I interviewed Bang back then). Great family establishment. read more

I'm a firm believer that if hear a place is amazing enough times you formulate one of two opinions; the hype is too much, the experience won't live up, and you'll never go back OR, the experience will be even better than what you've heard and you'll write a rave review like this one! The last time I was in this location was probably two decades ago when it was a breakfast joint and we used to swing through on our way home after church. I remember a very open room with plush Forrest green carpeting and a white wooden waist-high railing that separated two (small) levels of dining. Man has the atmosphere changed. The deep red paint makes the whole room (bar and dining combined) dark, even with the windows facing the street. A bunch of small Thai women bustled around serving all the tables with courteous haste bringing delicious, delicious food. A bottle of Thai-brewed Chang was a good start to the meal - by good I mean nostalgic as it's a terribly basic Asian lager and a quite expensive bottle of Japanese-based Hitachino Nest Red Rice was a good finish. My God, the Volcano Chicken here was incredible. I don't know that when I go back, which I will, I'll ever be able to order anything else. The breast was cooked to perfection and the crispy coating added the perfect texture component. Levels of heat were optional, which was great, and hot was definitely hot.
