If a customer walks in at 2am when no one is in the store and orders a sandwich while you are in the middle of cleaning the floors and the rubber floor mats; you as the employee don't continue to clean the mats and floors while you make them wait for 5 minutes while ignoring them. You as the employee do not then start to prepare the food without washing your hands or changing your gloves. Absolutely despicable. I should have walked out instead of wasting money on food that wound up in the trash bin. I grew up in the area and recently moved back after being gone for many years and was really excited to see this place open 24 hours serving a full menu of deli food. I wrongfully thought of the place as a food oasis. After being out west for decades I was also really happy to see an all Latin staff. My girlfriend is from Nicaragua so I mostly speak Spanish to the staff and not one crew member share any type of kindness even though that is all that I shower them with. I have gone in about 5 times over the last few months and found the adversarial behavior to be peculiar. Very little eye contact. No smiles. No "your welcomes" to my "thank you's." Zero attempt at a modicum of customer service. Just a general feeling of disdain for the customer from every single crew member. I feel that many of the staff are miserable being in the Hudson Valley and have decided to make the experience of going in here combative, not warm, friendly or even remotely kind. I'm not sure if they feel that because they are the only 24 hour spot around they can exhibit zero customer service because people will still purchase what they have to offer. There is a theory that you should never eat food made by an unhappy or angry person because they transfer that emotional vibration into the food. Obviously, I do not know if that is true, but this place has made me think about the veracity of this idea. I let the poor treatment slide because I have empathy for people who are very far from home, away from their loved ones in a foreign environment where they may not always be treated with the respect they deserve by ignorant people. I tend to heap on more respect and kindness in these situations, but never has it made a dent in the psyches of the staff at this establishment. I am truly sorry that you are all so unhappy at this place of business. That being said I will never subject myself to their treatment of me again. I will gas up elsewhere. I will eat elsewhere. I will never spend another dollar here and I will tell everyone I know to stay as far away as humanly possible. read more

I look at the grill and both burgers were covered with melting grill tops(like lids to speed up and overcook food) then he opened I've up and started to squeeze the patty. I asked him to stop and explained again I don't want it cooked a lot. He flipped and cooked the patty's several more times while I kept asking him to stop cooking them and add the cheese. I wasn't rude about it yet he looked like " why is this customer trying to tell me how to cook"? End.... Please do t be intimidated by grill cooks. You pay it's not free. This deli mid week is basically the only option overnight. I'll never stop going here and it's crazy busy at times. Service behind the deli counter (Saturday afternoon) is terrible and the girl working there rolls her eyes at you when you tell them they made an error in your order (which happens 50% of the time). They don't listen to you nor do they care, and when you ask them to fix it they are very rude and never apologize. When I was there 2 other people brought their sandwiches back because they got the order wrong, and this happened while they argued with me about putting the missing cheese on my two bagels. Of all of the resupply points on the Appalachian Trail that I encountered in my two state adventure through New Jersey and New York, no store seemed to get the needs of long distance hikers as much as this one. First of all, despite walking miles a day, any extra miles off trail is an anathema to many hikers. So the fact that all of their hiker food supplies are right at the entrance, and carefully organized by type (tuna, noodles, protein bars, etc.) to boot, is very key. And they have it in single portions as well. There is nothing worse than having to buy ten packets of ramen noodles when you only want to carry three, so the fact that they sell ramen individually (for pretty decent prices) is amazing. It made resupplying a breeze. While it would have been cheaper at a grocery store, it would not have been this convenient. Even better, there's no need to shop while hiker hungry here because their deli is fast and affordable. I even ordered an egg sandwich off the menu and they took some cost off of their egg and meat sandwich for me. At less than $2.00, the sandwich was less of a hit to my budget than a lot of dinner and the trail and was the perfect portion to get me started in the morning (and delicious). Buying the food for a hiker is only part of the experience. Hikers usually take the food out of its packaging and put them in baggies as part of losing weight in their pack. And they have a nice set of picnic tables outside to accomplish this (or to sit and eat a sandwich). About all I didn't need was the gas. There's a saying that the Appalachian Trail provides. But the trail itself does not provide nearly as well as this market most of the time. read more

Such a convenient little spot for a 'gas up' or kwik beverage....or a meet up spot as it is a prime location betwix the upper and lower Hudson Valley. The prior business had been vacated for many years...and the property looked so sad and forlorn. Although it took quite some time for the property to come to life again...it is now bustling business. The folks inside are always nice and the place is clean clean clean. His gas prices were on the pricier side, but seem to have come in line (thankfully) with higher volume spots. I've stopped here most times I've gone on a hike in the area (Breakneck Ridge, Bull Hill, Mt. Beacon, etc). It's pretty much the first legit stop you see driving on route 9 on the way there. I've always gotten a drink, one of their sandwiches, and any number of assorted granola bars, nuts, trail mix options they have. I stop here once a week in the morning to get one of their empanadas and to fill up my gas tank. I went today for the last time. I was in line. Normally there are two cashiers. I have only seen Hispanic employees. The female cashier was straightening the aisles. There was a male cashier at the register. There were two Hispanic men in the line in front of me and one Hispanic man behind me. I am not Hispanic. The cashier begin looking in my direction and speaking in Spanish. The Hispanic man in front of me, knowing I did not understand Spanish looked me directly in the face and smirked.
