My family and I have been going to Apollo Diner for many years. Generally speaking, the food and service are outstanding. However, one of the owners serves there occasionally, named Christina, and she is AWFUL. Christina is slow, inattentive, and unpleasant; sometimes even rude. I was there with a friend on our lunch break a few days ago and she waited ten minutes before bringing us menus, another five minutes before bringing our drinks, and another ten minutes before taking our order. When she finally brought our food, it was cold and had obviously been sitting out for some time. We were there for a solid hour, when normally we are in and out in 30-40 minutes. Our drinks went dry and she didn't even offer to refill them. In addition, Christina often brings her very young daughter to work in the evenings and leaves the toddler by herself at a table. The unattended toddler then walks around talking to the patrons, sometimes for more than five minutes before Christina comes to collect the child. It's really poor form and makes the entire experience less than desirable. read more

One star is two stars too high ... one and done! Server delivered food that was wrong ... I ordered a patty melt on Texas toast ... it came on Rye ... she should have noticed it was wrong, she didn't and blamed the cook. She pulled the plate out while I was attempt8ng to eat my onion ring while it was hot. When the plate returned they had moved the melt over to the correct bread but it was the same melt less some cheese and the onion rings were cold, including the half eaten one from before. My wife ordered a Country Fried Steak, it came with dark gravy not white gravy and her cole slaw dish was jammed in the mashed potatoes. It took the server 10 minutes to bring me more iced tea which she poured as much on the table and floor as she did in my glass. The old Apollo diner, is now open under new ownership, it's Veteran Owned and Operated. The new name is Carter's coastal Café in Melbourne, where every guest is treated like family. They are doing a really great job with everything!!! First thing I noticed upon walking in , is how bright and clean everything was. The new menus have large font, so it made it much easier to read their dynamic wide variety of options. Their tasty food was so plentiful, I had to take home leftovers in their complementary to-go box. Their service was wonderful and very affordable. They even offer a veteran's discount!! I did not take a picture of the new menu however, next time that I go, I plan too. read more

Or at least extra on the side. Interior was clean and intimate. But that also means you can hear conversations from across the room. The clientele was senior citizens and that might be why they were speaking so loud. But I now some helpful hints on Medicare :). The waitresses were nice and they were engaged with the large number of regulars. One entree was flavorful one was not. So only three stars since the simple one was the worst.
