Simply Amazing! A MUST for vegans and vegetarians! It's so hard to eat out with these diets. Their menu has an entire vegan and an entire vegetarian section! The lunch buffet is awesome! Half the selection is vegan! The spices, textures and taste is to die for. PS ask for a thumbs up(soda) when you go! read more

The lunch buffet was okay.. But chicken biryani was bad, the worst I've ever eaten within USA. Other entrees and appetizers were good. read more

My vegan friend & I were making an overnight trip from Chicago to Columbus IN. I figured there would be NO vegan options in this area, but Googled it anyway. Apna popped up. It's in a tiny mall that really doesn't face the street so we drove right by it. But I called & the gentleman that answered the phone was most helpful with directing us back to the restaurant. ABSOLUTELY they HAVE VEGAN! More than enough selections for my vegan friend. The food, as well as the staff, were WONDERFUL & we were able to choose just exactly how spicy we wanted it! So happy that I found this place. I would certainly come back if I am in the Columbus area. read more

Delicious food. The breaded/fried items could have been warmer, but otherwise, fantastic. My only issue was with the wait staff. No one smiles! They don't seem to appreciate our business. SMILE people. Life is good! read more

Visiting from Kansas City and think I just found my Columbus favorite. The lunch buffet was amazing. Everything was fresh and popping with flavor. I highly recommend! I can't wait to go back! read more

Apna Kitchen - Lunch! Delish!!! - Indian Near Me - Columbus, Indiana

Tried this place again tonight - has been good in the past. THREE bugs tonight - didn't even stick around. Nasty. Obviously an issue. Won't be back. read more

Needs to update hours on yelp. Yelp wants me to write more... I've not eaten here. I drove a few miles to try their vegan dal, but was disappointed to see that they aren't open till 10pm like yelp claims. Please update this. read more

I LOVE Indian food, but admit to being picky. I discovered this delicious restaurant, and attached market when looking for lunch beyond the hospital cafeteria - what a delightful discovery! Now my dad and I look forward to dining at Apna every time i am visiting. Both the menu items and the buffet are delicious. It is one of the best Indian buffet I ever eaten! The dishes are always hot, as the buffet is popular the dishes are replenished frequently so it is fresh, and there is a good variety of veg and non- veg options. The market has a good assortment of Indian staples as well as frozen Indian meals for quick work lunches as well. A great find! read more

Real Good! I went on the recommendation of an Indian friend. I'm an Indian Food Neophyte, so the Lunch Buffet was perfect for me, with a large variety of both meat and vegetable dishes, all labeled so I know what to try. Awesome! Delicious! And a wide variety - probably three dozen - dishes at the Lunch Buffet. The Goat Curry and Butter Chicken were stand-outs along with the Flatbread and the Gulab donut-ball. The only drawback? The staff doesn't speak English well, which is great for authenticity but difficult otherwise. In you're in the area, this is a must try! WARNING! Take small portions so you can try more different dishes. read more

Excellent food and good service. It's tucked away and a bit difficult to find, but it's worth the effort. The portions are large, and one entree is big enough for two light eaters. The free chutneys are tasty and the naan is excellent. Give this place a try! read more

I absolutely love this place for lunch! The buffet is worth the price! The flavors are wonderfully layered and you can always find something to enjoy. Service is wonderful and they truly recognize and enjoy their regulars. Oh and the tea... You must have the tea. It is mandatory. Tip for first timers, grab a little of what you think you like and find your favorites! read more

Went for lunch with husband. Had lunch buffet. 3 of the main course dishes had tiny bristles all throughout the sauce!!!! It was so gross!! It's like they just added a ton of sauce to cover up that the brush they used to slather whatever coating over the meat, was loosing all its bristles!!!! Every single bite had at least 3 to 4 tiny bristles! How can they serve that to people? Three of the dishes! I didn't try every dish so I don't know if it was in others. I will never go back again! And I will advise others not to as well! read more

If I could I would have given it 0 star!!! Worst experience ever & we go to so many restaurants around the country. My husband & I were on a business trip & super hungry as well as excited to try stuff on the menu as we are big foodies. We ordered two appetizers, Manchurian cauliflower & vegan veggie pakoras(menu mentions onion, potato & cauliflower). We received the Manchurian cauli which we really liked but unfortunately didn't get to finish even though we payed for it because when the pakoras came out they were all eggplant when the description didn't mention eggplant at all. We kindly asked the server why it's eggplant instead of the veggies mentioned in the description & he said that the owner upgraded the veggies(which makes no sense & which should've been mentioned before ordering). Instead of taking it back so we could order something else as we didn't get what we ordered he started arguing with us & saying that they changed it up. So we asked to speak to the manager to which he said "I'm the manager". We asked why the change didn't reflect on the menu & he said you need to speak to the owner about that not me. If you're the "manager" it's your job to point that stuff out to the owner not the customers!! Instead of apologizing about this whole situation he just wouldn't stop arguing with us & made a whole scene. He was extremely rude & never have we had customer service in a restaurant THIS BAD!!! Whoever the owner is needs to look into getting better employees who know how to speak to customers & be humble about mistakes/changes. Pls fire this so-called "manager/server" of yours or you'll be out of business in no time. NEVER coming back here & warning everyone who tries to even step foot into this restaurant!!! WORST human being we've ever come across & now I see many other reviews mentioning him being rude, we should've read those before going there & wasting our time/money. read more

Had lunch at this place today with three of my friends. Buffet is good compared to most Indian restaurants I have been to. The whole atmosphere was ruined for all of us there when the server (he functions more like a manager there) got in a rude argument with another customer just came in and headed to the buffet to self serve food. The server/Manager was loud and rude saying it is not ready for the customers to start taking food yet, after all of us were seated and drinks served. Very unprofessional and affected all of us who was there. We could see that the other customer was polite and apologetic for something that is not his fault. They need to learn to be professional and polite I their service. Otherwise the food won't taste the same. Hence the low rating. read more

Ordered a oothapam & waited 40 minutes .when we asked the guy in the billing , he behaved so rude & told whether u eat or not im going to charge you and finally got a worst oothapam . No value for customers as it's the only Indian restaurant in Columbus.very disappointed as we were regular customers and will never come back.Giving one star Bcoz of no option as zero read more

This is the best Indian food around. Our favorite Indian restaurant is in Cincinnati... but it looks like we will be staying in Columbus from now on. Great manager and super clean environment. I highly recommend Apna Kitchen! Also, this is the first Indian restaurant that, when I ask for the heat factor to be VERY HOT, they actually did it without telling me I didn't want VERY HOT. It was so spicy hot that it melted my face off... and I loved it. Thanks for that. read more

Horrible place. Owner is the rudest person and charged extra so watch your bill. I highly believe this business has the worst customer service. Being the only Indian restaurant in town, the owner has a lot of pride and pays very little attention to consumer experience. Don't support a malicious business! read more

Poor service. Very bad food. Instead of making the table for us, the waiter handed the plates over to us. I ordered Mirchi Bajji and Vegetarian platter. Worst Bajji ever. My vegetable platter was filled with mirchi Bajji instead of pakoda and when asked for the reason the waiter tried to convince me that pakoda and Bajji are all the same. He explained people from different regions call them different names and everything are all the same. The Biryani portion was too small. read more

Great Indian food. Thank the Cummins engineers for this gem in a sea of blah. The lunch buffet is the only way to do it so you can try a little bit of everything. You will eat too much as there are countless things you want seconds of. There are items I have tried that I dont like but that was due to my taste preferences not the quality. The buffet has a very impressive variety and good turnover. It is a little crowded but usually with young engineers which gives the place a good energy. For dinner i believe it changes over to a sit down and order place. If I were to eat dinner here I believe it would lose at least one star as the best thing here is the great variety. You can't get that from ordering off a menu. For lunch, this is probably the best restaurant in Columbus. read more

Aloo ghobi, chicken tikka masala, and garlic herb naan hit the spot! This is a nice choice for vegetarian options, which in my opinion are hearty and flavorful in a way that don't make you miss meat at all. Service was friendly but wouldn't give us a recommendation (sorry, but insisting that everything is great doesn't help us decide!). read more

Be very very careful about trying this for your first time. You will actually crave the food the next day. We have been here several times for Sunday brunch and the food is fresh and outstanding. Vegan and vegetarian options are clearly marked. My teenage son loves it here too. Noon seems a little late to start a Sunday brunch, but it was worth it each time. If You love Indian food you don't want to miss this place. read more

Although this restaurant is a little off the beaten path, it easily scores five stars. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. They have a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian options too! I will definitely be returning here. read more

Buffet Review As a novice in the authenticity of varying cuisines, I will base this review solely on taste, service, and value. Taste Apna Kitchen was by far the most flavorful Indian Buffet I have ever been too. They did not have Chicken Tikka Masala which I was bummed about but as I said before everything else was quite good and extremely flavorful. There was a strong taste of cumin and garam masala in most of the dishes and although sometimes seeming heavy handed, I would say that I enjoyed it a lot in comparison with other Indian Buffet's flavors. The chickpea salad was very refreshing and ended up being one of my favorite dishes on the buffet. The sauces were on par with every other Indian Buffet I have been to and the pickled sauce and tamarind sauce were both the best of their kind I have had. The complimentary garlic naan was also the best I had ever had from any Indian Buffet. One bonus Apna Kitchen adds is a complimentary spiced tea latte as well which was also decent. As far as food, Apna Kitchen stands out in every category. Service This is where Apna Kitchen stands out above all other Indian Buffets. Not only were they very nice (I have rarely ever been to one where they aren't) but they were also quite lively. The music wasn't any typical Indian restaurant music but rather a beat driven Indian style of music which I can imagine was playing from a college students iPod. The staff was also young and seemed to really enjoy each other which made it a fun place to be. After getting up to get more food, you were always guaranteed to come back to an empty table. They were very fast at clearing the table of finished plates, much faster than I had ever seen without being a bothersome. The staff deserves 5 stars. Value. $11.50 was approximately what I had to pay, excluding the tip. I didn't get a drink, so this is the buffet price alone. Was it worth what I paid? I would say that it was a well above average buffet and for $8-$9 I would definitely go back frequently. For the price of $11.50 I would have to say that I probably won't visit this place out of my own pocket often. Although I think it separates itself from the rest of the Indian Buffets I have been too, the others are also much less in price and this is definitely something I take into consideration when deciding on where to eat. The average price I pay at an Indian Buffet is probably $9, excluding the tip. Although I enjoyed this buffet, I cannot bring myself to pay that great an amount for a meal. read more

Amazing food variety during buffet, especially the desert spread. Service was warm and receptive. Definitely visiting again.

Apna Kitchen never disappoints. Their lunch buffet is always full and hot. The severs are constantly circling the restaurant making sure you have enough naan and that your beverages are full. You can always count on them to have some of the most desired Indian food like butter chicken and chicken 65. You may not know exactly what you are trying other than the name but, it will not let you down! Everything my husband and I have ever had has been delicious!! read more

The best !! If your in Columbus IN you must try this place. Super friendly staff will help you to pick a dish you will surly love.

Excellent food!! We are from out of state and glad we chose this place for lunch buffet on our way back home. About 10mins off I-65. Buffet had tons of veg and non-veg choices and every item was delicious. Priced right. Service was excellent, place was super clean and the interior was pleasant. Little hard to find the restaurant as it was in the back of a building. GPS led us to their grocery store which is in the front of the building. Hope they maintain the quality and we would like to return here next time we drive through Indiana. Heard they also have a branch in Indianapolis somewhere. read more

We had never tried Indian food so for my birthday I chose to come to Apna Kitchen. The food was delicious! It was buffet style. I'm not sure if that was because of the day or if it is always that way but it was perfect for sampling. The cuisine is somewhat spicy and I tasted cinnamon too. I would highly recommend if you already know you like Indian and if you don't...give it a try you might find a new favorite. read more

I was in the Columbus area for a week and Apna Kitchen took the cake for the best meal of the trip! Chicken Tikka Masala is my favorite Indian dish and they did an EXCELLENT job with it! The mango lassi also made it well worth the trip. One of the servers said March 17, 2014 on their beer/wine license. For a restaurant that JUST opened, these guys are doing pretty well for themselves. I hope to return next time I'm in town! read more

This was my very first Indian food experience. WOW was it ever delicious! The dining area was very clean and comfortable, the staff was helpful through the confusion of what to order. Finding it was a little tricky, but worth the effort! I'm recommending it to all my Columbus friends as the 'new' place to try. Not the same-old same-old. Pricing was fair. read more

So glad to find a good Indian restaurant in Columbus! My husband and I went there tonight and really enjoyed it... The food, the service, and the atmosphere are all so wonderful. The food is a little more on the spicier side, so I'm glad I asked them to make it "mild" for me... Which ended up being a little spicy, and that's exactly what I like. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options as well as gluten free options. The menu is so big and you have so much to choose from. I think we will try the buffet lunch next time so that we can try a lot of different things. Oh, the mango lassi was so good too! read more

Amazing food and good ambience.try the achari kabab its just amazing.make sure you book a table as its always full

I can't say enough good things about Apna Kitchen in Columbus. The food is amazing. We went for the lunch buffet on Sunday. Lots of vegan options (plenty of non-veg as well, if that isn't your thing). There is always a fresh salad bar and several dessert options along with yummy chai tea. The dosas are delicous. My favorites from today's buffet were the bangan bharta, mushroom curry, and sambar with idili. During dinner hours you can order from the extensive menu. The restaurant itself is beautiful; everything is new and immaculately clean. The service is fantastic. Apna Kitchen knows how to treat customers well. Suresh and his team will make you feel warm and welcome from the moment you walk in the door. I left stuffed and will definitely be back many times! The only thing I would change is the distance from Indianapolis- it is a long, but very worthwhile drive! read more

Fantastic food. A little pricey, but will worth it. Friendly staff and quality food. It's off the beaten path so don't expect to see signage. In fact you'll probably hear about this place via word of mouth before you see a single ad. read more

Overall, we were pleasantly surprised. It would be a little tricky to find if you don't know Columbus. I couldn't find the phone number on line. The restaurant was well lighted, clean and the temperature was comfortable. Our waiter was very helpful in guiding us through the large menu. The menu had lots of choices, both veggie and non-veggie. The food was very tasty although I don't really know how authentic it was. I just know it was good. There were many Indian customers, which I always take as a good sign at an ethic restaurant. The only drawback was the service; while friendly and helpful, was a bit out of order and not 'smooth". Drinks were either forgotten (in our case) or served to our friends halfway through the meal, old dishes not cleared away, etc. To be fair, though, we were not charged for the forgotten chai. Overall, the spotty service is what keeps Apna from getting four stars. It wasn't enough to keep us from going back, though. We want to try the lunch buffet in order to sample some more dishes. We love having more ethnic choices in Columbus..now if we could only get a authentic middle eastern place!!! read more

An excellent restaurant! The service is fantastic, the waiter helped us with finding the type of dishes we would typically order at other restaurants on the menu. He also went the extra mile to get us a side serving of a main dish - perfect. We have been back numerous times for the phenomenal buffet which changes dishes each time, and love exploring the dinner menu - every dish is wonderfully cooked and has it's own unique flavors. I took a work group of 12 people for lunch and everyone was raving about the food afterwards. This place has all the right ingredients - service, menu, cleanliness, ambiance, aromas - to make for a fantastic dining experience read more
