Chicken Tikka Masala and Goat Karahi
Henry T.

I've tried a couple restaurants serving Indian cuisine here in Indy. My go-to for most flavorful spot would be Mumbai Grill. The owner is friendly, respectful and often recommends items that might appeal to you with a big smile. The inside of the restaurant, you will find a corner where meat is available for purchase from the butcher. Most people may find the open and plain interior not very welcoming but I think this is room for improvement. All in all, my favorite place to snag Indian food to go! Chicken korma is my best pick from this spot!

Mumbai Grill is the best Indian Restaurant in the Indianapolis area. By far the best Palek Paneer I have ever had. I have taken people here over the years when I want to introduce someone to Indian food and the reaction has always been very positive. The food is incredible. The ambiance is not much to look at. It is located in the corner of a strip mall. There is no decor. Trust me though. After you try the food it won't even matter anymore! You can also call in your order and pick it up if you prefer. I would highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

I think I've found my new favorite Indian restaurant in Greenwood! We were looking for something new to try and landed on Mumbai Grill. It's in a strip mall not far from the interstate. Nothing fancy inside, just tables and chairs and a cashier, but you can sit down to eat as well as order to go. There are lots to choose from, but I always love chana masala so I decided to stick with that and also get a side of garlic naan. The flavors were popping! That bread was buttery and garlicky and warm. So delicious. The rice portions were very generous and we had more than enough for leftovers the next two days. I will be back to try something different for sure!

Wow. Totally speechless when I took the first bite. Our order was: Chicken Tikka Masala Butter Chicken Rice Garlic Naan Garlic Chili Naan Bhatura Everything was so delicious! Such great flavor to it all! There is nothing much more to say but that. The service was great as well as the time the food came out was so reasonable. I will definitely be coming here again.

I highly recommend the butter chicken, goat briyani, and garlic naan! Service was quick and there was lots of parking

Great food, but not good enough to justify the price. Anybody will tell you that the food here is amazing! Best butter chicken I've ever had! Never had a bad dish from here, they know their way around the kitchen! But the prices have gotten unreasonable for the tiny portion sizes and they don't even come with rice. The greed is a little too much. Spicy Doner is my new Indian place! The food is comparable and the prices are much more fair. I hated to say goodbye but I did!

Best food on the south side! We have driven through snow to get their Gobi manchurian and rice, as it never disappoints! The staff is friendly and if we do take out or dine in we usually get a little extra treat from the restaurant for free as a thank you. The food can range from spicy to really spicy but even our non Indian living friends now crave food from Mumbai Grill. We go at least once a week if possible as it is amazing. Highly recommend it for a satisfying and not too pricey option for a meal. Tonight we have several dishes ranging from biryani rice with goat to vegan gobi Manchuria. I loved the gobi as it was extra crispy and with just the right amount of sauce. Our friends had a mango lassi which came after the meal and was the perfect ending to a spicy meal. If you dine in it takes some time to get your food as they make it from scratch, but it is worth it for the home flavors and taste. Take out is always great and the rice portions are considerably larger if you get a family size rice.

2 taste less chatni's with 2 appetizers.

We were visiting here in Greenwood, thought try Indian food. But that was worse thought we ever had. Uncooked roti, full of salt Peshawari chicken, tasteless Chicken Kadhi, ordered Palak paneer but they served Saag Paneer instead of it. Lahori Fish was smelly and no taste or any flavor. I know Pakistani food very well, but this Restaurant was worst served food ever had. Being honest, how people around here coming and ordering food and giving good stars and reviews. There's something wrong with the people who doesn't know the flavor and richness of the Indian and Pakistani food. Zeroooo. Lakh di lahnat.

My favorite Indian spot around Indianapolis. Every dish is authentic and delicious. The butter chicken and samosas (only $1) are always a hit. Don't forget to order some garlic naan as well. We tried something new tonight (Chicken Karahi) and it had such flavor and a decent amount of spice. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. Their tandoori chicken is also one of my Favorite dishes here. Do yourself a favor and run to this restaurant!

Went recently. The food quality and flavor was poor have to throw it in to garbage . I don't mind spending on food because I am foodie but this time it hurts waste of money.

One of my favourite Indian cusine places in town. I love the variety of Biryani they make it's a perfect blend of flavour and spices will make you crave for more. They have a decent menu with some good options to try but the best is the Biryani preparations. It's a muct try place if you have never tried it before. They have enough parking spots in front of the restraunt. They have restrooms inside the restaurant and also they offer lamb and chicken freshly cut and to take away if you want to cook at home. Over all a good value for money.

Definitely one of the best restaurants in Greenwood/the south side in general. This is a hole-in-the-wall international restaurant, so clearly you know it's going to be amazing. The food is Pakistani/Indian (for those unfamiliar, due to history of the region, the cuisines are rather familiar - people who like Indian food will like Pakistani for sure!). The meat is halal and they even sell halal meat by the pound. But obviously, I prefer the restaurant food b/c I don't really cook :) Their food is exceptionally spiced!! Chicken biryani: I heard their biryani is amazing, and indeed it was very good. Wonderful blend of spices. Chicken is cooked on the bone and is so tender it just falls off. It is also A LOT of food and I had a ton of leftovers! Dal Mahkni: my vegetarian sibling loved it Channa Masala: I did NOT like the sauce. I really hated this channa and we couldn't eat it. I am assuming there are regional differences and I just don't like it their way. Normally I love this dish. Chicken boti: the owner gave me a sample and it was amazing!!! Samosas: very good!! Only $1 each!!! Note: unless it is a rice dish like biryani, rice costs extra :/

The portions are generous, and everything comes out fresh and hot, which I really appreciate. The ambience is warm and welcoming, making it a nice place to sit down and enjoy your meal. Service can be a little slow during busy hours, but that's usually a sign that everything is being made with care. Prices are fair for the quality and portion size, and the menu offers a great variety of dishes to choose from, plenty of options whether you like mild, spicy, or somewhere in between. Overall, Clay Oven is definitely worth a visit if you're craving flavorful, well-made Indian cuisine. A great experience every time, and an easy 4 stars!

The flavors are always on point, their garlic naan is amazing and I haven't ordered anything I didn't like. I recently tried the chicken biryani (usually get chana masala) and it's going to be my go-to order from now on. Even my husband liked it and he doesn't usually enjoy Indian food. They also moved to a bigger spot, so it's much less crowded and also has better lighting. Highly highly recommend!

I got my order to go but the gentleman who took my order was kind enough to offer me a cup for some water. The spot was happening. Music, good vibes, the decor was fun. I couldn't decide which meal I was trying so I'm definitely going to make another trip sometime soon. I got the tenders with mac but added a side of greens. Boy oh boy the greens were the star and wow my tastebuds were incredibly satisfied. I've had greens but these were like some ultimate flavors and holy greens i definitely could just order some of these every now and again by themselves. Mac was great. Definitely complimented the greens. The tenders though omg. The flavor was insane. I gotta try them with the waffles next time for sure. Overall the wait wasn't long and my food was still hot. I ended up sharing with my son and he was even raving about it. Great service, fun and lit atmosphere, last but not least food was fire. Side note: people complain about price but I'll be honest, when the food is good and staff are amazing, the price to me doesn't matter. Mecca is located in an old strip mall just off route 40. The grocery store is packed with food for Middle East cuisine. I pick up ingredients that I can't find elsewhere for stuffed grape leaves and other Greek dishes. I find specialty oils and cheeses for cooking. The prices are good. They also offer a limited assortment of fresh Middle Eastern pastries and cookies which I have not tried. The staff is always super friendly and will help you located items. All of a sudden I see a lady on her phone and a man walking around the store. Mind you they are speaking a different language and I can not understand what they are speaking about. It seemed like they knew eachother but weren't shopping together. The lady was on the phone until she checked out. I was behind her and the man cut me in line and started to talk to from cashier. The lady walks out the store. Then the man walks out the story shortly after talking to the cashier. I check out and everything is fine. Once I start walking back to my car I see the lady in her tan mini van looking at me the whole time. I get in my car and she continues to stare at me as if she as trying to look through ( my windows are tinted very dark). Ofc I lock my doors immediately getting into my car and after a couple of minutes she drives away. Then I start to back out of my parking spot and notice the guy who was in the store starts to back out... very slowly. So I wait for him to go first but he was going so slow I backed up and headed out. Then he followed. At first I just thought he was going home and was his normal route. At the stop light he pulled up beside me and pulled down his windows. At the point I knew I was fucked. I acted as if I was going straight and last minute turned around. He quickly turned around and tried to get into a neighborhood I made seem I was going into. Then I zoomed far away. This man was driving a beatup/dirty black Mercedes with a sunroof. I stopped taking that route until one morning my phone told me to take a different route to work to avoid traffic. Passed by the Mecca market and seen the same car, same guy with a long beard growing out walking into the store early in the morning. At that moment I knew I had to post this. Please be careful going here... there is something suspicious about this store. Whether they look at the cameras and are watching young girls come into the store by themselves. I have a feeling I am not the only one who has encountered this. Stay aware of your surroundings and tread carefully. Don't come here alone!!!!!!!!!! I will never come back here nor close to this store again.
