Malai & Achari Kabab Tandoori Chicken
Heather B.

A little difficult to find as the address goes to the market and restaurant is on the other side of the building. Veg platter was good, but was mostly just the vegan pakora and it was very spicy. Wish we got more than 1 samosa and 2 paneer pakora. Also wish the tandoori chicken came in a meal and not just an appetizer as this was our favorite.

Mango Lassi

Please take a look at the picture as it should tell you everything you need to know. This place has really good food and I'm very disappointed at what happened today. I'm never going to eat there anymore and will see if health inspectors can surprise them, because that mango lassi has mold in it. Unfortunately, I was already drinking it when I realized that it tasted funny then opened. This gave me chills and I hope they do something about it.

We tried the: Dal Tadke Wali Medhu Vada Chicken Vindaloo Garlic Naan They were all great ! Especially the chicken vindaloo -- I loved the flavor especially with the naan. And I had never had anything like the medhu vada before - a savory, spongey, sort of donut that went with a simple veggie curry for dipping. The daal was more familiar with turmeric and warm spices. I think we got medium spice and it was pretty much perfect for us. The only thing that threw me off was they have had to raise their prices but the changes are not reflected on the menu so you may need to ask for an itemized list to see what everything costs. Not a problem just something to be aware of. You also check out at the front desk instead of at your table. Also, we got styrofoam boxes for to-go instead of the usual plastic tubs which wouldn't be a problem if I had been more careful in the car or maybe asked for a bag. Instead I spilled it and the daal got everywhere -- a word of caution if you never finish your food like me lol!

Good food and a lot of it. Don't be turned off by the outside appearance. Inside was very nice and clean and colorful. There were hand written sign indicating a lunch buffet would be available on the weekend. Even though we were a bit early, the host was gracious and seated us, bringing us menus and ice water. We ordered two entrees and an appetizer off the extensive menu. Oh my gosh. Big mistake. We ended up with enough food to feed a small army. Everything is made fresh so it is piping hot. I really enjoyed the fried cauliflower appetizer. It was so good. If I could eat vegan food this tasteful all the time I could **maybe** give up meat. By the time we left , it was starting to get busy. The naan, the vegetables, the rice, the meats were perfect. It is the kind of place where you order a Coke and they bring you a can of it. Water is free. Plan on going home after or having a cooler in the car because serving sizes are huge.

This place is truly a gem! Authentic and delicious every time. We were happy to support this #localbusiness this Valentine's Day and took home a fantastic dinner of Chicken Curry and Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice, Vegetable Samosa and Naan. We love this place and will continue to come back again and again!

None of the curries were at all spicy, but they were adequately seasoned with other spices. It seemed like a smaller selection than other Indian buffets I've tried, but I still felt like there was enough variety, and I kind of liked that I got to have a little more of each dish. I thought they had an especially good kachumber salad, and the desserts were fantastic. The kulfi was so creamy and had an amazing flavour with subtle cardamom (at least I think it was cardamom). The chai ran out soon after I arrived and before I had the chance to get any. I didn't say anything at first, figuring they'd replace it soon. When I went to get a second plate 12 minutes later, still no chai, but I heard someone else say something to one of the staff, and he said it was coming. I finished my second plate and got dessert, and when someone came to take my plates away, I could hear other tables complaining about the lack of chai, so I again asked about the chai and was told it was coming "soon". 40 minutes after I got my first plate (so at least 40 minutes after it ran out), and roughly 25 minutes after the first person asked, we finally got more chai. But they had run out of teacups (I got the last one), so others had to put their chai in the small dessert bowls and were complaining that it was too hot to hold. After all that, at least it was good chai, very gingery. I also think they ran out of kheer; there was a sign for it, but just a full single-serve bowl of kheer left on the counter with no serving utensil; I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be the last bit of it or if it was someone's bowl that they'd served themselves and just left at the bar. Besides just the chai situation, the service in general was not very attentive. The host stand would go unattended for long periods of time, so some customers would seat themselves. It took a while for anyone to bring me water after I was seated, and it was never refilled. No one cleared my plates until after I'd finished three rounds. The host also just wasn't very friendly or pleasant. I don't know if I'd come back... For comparison, the other Indian lunch buffet I go to in town is Taste of India, and I think the food here was better and closer to "authentic", but Taste of India is just run better and the people there always seem to be happy to have you.

The sauces were rich and flavorful, the naan was perfect for dipping, and the samosas were a great starter. The mango lassi was especially good and super filling--almost like a dessert. The biggest downside was the service. It was pretty slow and not very attentive. We had to wait a bit to get our check and didn't get checked on very often through the meal. There also wasn't much chicken inside of the dishes. That said, the food definitely makes it worth it.

The buffet was out, so we all chose that option. $14 if paying with cash or $15 if paying by credit card - a great price for a buffet. There were lots of options. Everything from your standard India dishes (chicken tiki masala, biryani) to some specialties. Included with the meal was mango lassi and chai, although the chai wasn't my favorite. There is also naan on the buffet and a variety of desserts. I really enjoyed my meal! Tip - parking in Bloomington is always challenging but they do have a small parking lot and we lucked out and got a spot.

When you walk in to the tidy little restaurant, the aroma of Indian curries is intoxicating. The menu options were vast. You can order Indian food, Chicago-style pizza or Indian favorites as pizza toppings. The clerk was friendly. We ordered a small Chicken Tikka Masala pizza to go. It took about 15 minutes to come out in a box. It was hard not to rip open the box and dig-in. The pizza smelled so good. And it was delicious. The Indian spices took pizza to a whole new level. The masala sauce covered the pizza with bits of chicken. If you like Indian food, you'll like this. A small pizza is enough for two people. I can't wait to try their other combinations. The restaurant is located across from Edinburgh Outlet Mall in suite next to a Shell Station. There is parking on the side. There is a drive up window as well. They have a dining room that is comfortable and simple. They serve beer and the mango lassi looked tempting. I'll be back.

They have ample seating and separate space for parties/larger group. (Ample private parking space btw) We were greeted and seated right away. With a hangry kid with us we requested to get mango lassi right away. But in handle full of minutes remaining order was placed too - Chole Bhature, Aloo Tikki Chat, Butter Naan and Malai Kofta. And then the long wait started. We got our lassi after about 10-12 minutes wait and CB and ATC in about another 25-30 minutes. So far after trying multiple restaurants in multiple cities, 5 star has better Chole taste than others. Bhature was average, we have had better Bhature. Aloo tikki chat tasted better once the hot tikki cooled down a little. Lassi had perfect sweetness but bit watered down than a bit of chunky consistency of lassi. The hostess did check on us in between and apologized about wait due to busy hour. We had easily waited good 30 minutes after finishing our appetizers. But! Finally the food arrived. And it was delicious for sure. Perfectly cooked naan, savory but little sweet kofta entree. The only thing lacking was we had ordered mild spice level but this was definitely a medium. Informed our hostess of this to get a response of well the Indian spices can be spruced down only so much. Agreed but not agreed! Women restroom was clean but out of paper towels, (no air dryer) stayed so till I was there. All in all, great food but too long and gaped of a wait for each item to arrive, okay-ish service. I am willing to give this place one more try and hopefully on a less busier hour before I set my review in stone for this restaurant.
