I was in on a Sunday with my granddaughter for the lunch buffet, which proved ample and surprising. I had small tastes of almost everything, and a goid sized serving of the butter chicken, which was really well spiced and rich. I ate too much naan, as always. I liked the raita and tamarind chutney enough that i remember well now, even a week later. The restaurant is a little broken down, and tucked in the back of a nondescript little strip mall. Best Indian food I have ever had. The first couple of times I went, the staff walked our party through the buffet and explained each available dish without having to ask. This was MUCH appreciated. The food is very flavorful and authentic. I know so because I've heard it time and time again from other Indian people from Cummins. Goat, poultry, and vegetarian is on the buffet. The lunch buffet is generally busy, but totally worth fighting the crowd. I promise, you will not have a better Indian experience. This was the first time I had ever been there and the food was amazing!!! The atmosphere was hopping because we went on a busy Friday during their lunch buffet!! There were so many varieties and flavors, and my fave.....GARLIC NAAN!!! The naan bread was so fresh, that it burned my fingers, but I was still smiling!! They have amazing boneless and crispy tandoori chicken bites. The other tandoori is has a bone in it. The different sauces, ESPECIALLY the mango chutney, was outstanding!!! If I had any complaints, I would say that they need a full lamp for the big tandoori bone in platter that they have, because it gets a little cold, other than that, it's fantastic!!!!! I'll start with the good. The Chicken Tiki Masala was good. Not great, good. Here's what sucked - the server was terrible at paying attention to people at tables. I saw other people trying to get his attention, besides myself and it was just cringeworthy. When he brought my appetizer, it was not what I had ordered. I ordered veggie pakoras that was supposed to be cauliflower, onions and potatoes. He brought me some fried eggplant. I hate eggplant and it wasn't what I ordered. I told him to take it back and then he came out with deep fried potatoes to replace the eggplant that I didn't order. Then the best part was when I got my bill, everything was a dollar more than it showed on the menu. When I brought it to the server's attention, he showed me where ON THE BACK OF THE MENU it says that everything is going to cost more than the printed menu because of the supply chain issues. Peshwari Naan was delicate and flavorful. Chicken Tikka Masala was a little heavy on oil but the taste was so smooth and robust. Chicken Biryani was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious. The basmati rice was prepared perfectly. This is the first time I've ever experienced DEPTH in a biryani dish. It was light but really had flavor throughout. I've eaten Indian food all over the place, and this little spot is still my all time favorite. The buffet is always amazing and also always busy (and I understand why!). If you love South Indian food, this is a little slice of heaven. It can be a little bit difficult to locate, and doesn't look like much from the exterior, but the interior is nicely decorated and clean. read more

The lunch buffet was pretty good. From the vegetable pakora to the butter chicken every dish on the buffet is flavorful and well made. The garlic naan brought to the table is also very tasty. The service was not nearly as good as the food though. My wife ordered a masala dosa, but it never came. The water was refilled regularly, which was a good thing, but otherwise there was no attention from the servers. Been in this city for over 4 years now and have been a frequent visitor to this restaurant. The food is all right, but the service is horrible. The average wait time to get your food after you get a table can vary from 15 minutes to 1 hour ( I am serious). But I kept going back because of my incessant urge to eat more indian food (brown guy here). Not anymore though- I was there last week with a buddy and he chipped his tooth over a stone in the chicken curry. We were in southern Indiana and driving back to indianapolis when someone remembered hearing there was a great Indian restaurant in Columbus. The ONLY complaint I had was it was hard to find based on just the address. It took us to the back of the building and we ended up walking all the way around to find the front door. But once we were inside it was great. We happened to be there on Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights. They had a special buffet which worked in our favor because we got to try everything! Since they serve north and South Indian food they had a huge selection. The buffet included naan, which was severe hot and fresh at the table. They also had a chai tea station and it was wonderful. If you're ever passing through Columbus or in the town for work, this is a must! Some of the best Indian food I've had in Indiana. read more

Either learn English, or get your servers to understand it. You're in America now, have the dignity to do that. I called today and put in an order for pick up, I told the person over the phone literary 6 times that I CAN'T HAVE MY MEAL SPICY, he said he'll make it very mild. Very well, my boyfriend ordered another meal, but asked for it to be medium. 25 min later, it's time to pick up the food. Right now, I'm burning up, feeling extremely nauseous and chugging down milk to reduce the heat as much as I can. If you're too lazy to specify each meal and then just throw it in for order to get your money, then you really don't know how to run a restaurant. I understand it's a so called Indian restaurant and I should know it's spicy , but don't lie to me over the phone and tell me I can have my meal extremely mild, and then serve me the meal of Satan. I enjoyed their lunch buffet, but variety was a bit lacking. There were a number of little fried things, and only a few curries to choose from. This was disappointing because it appeared this buffet was intended to satisfy the western palate. Chicken tikka masala was one of the three curries out. I would have loved to see more traditional Indian cuisine offered. I enjoyed the saag paneer, but it didn't last long and they did not replace it with a fresh one. We went to order our normal food that was always get at other Indian restaurants and the waiter offered up some alternatives to excite our taste buds. What great recommendations! Instead of samosas he had us try a spicy cauliflower dish. Was so flavorful and just the right amount of spice. We both had completely different entrees due to the recommendation of our server and he did an excellent job steering us in the right direction. He was so friendly and so happy to be there. Try the vegetable platter, garlic nann bread and a hot spicy chicken chettinard dish. The restaurant grind their own spices, so every dish tastes beyond delicious . We had a great dinner there today. The owner was very nice, the food was really good, and the place was spotlessly clean...this is about as good as it gets. Since covid has Cummins working from home, this restaurant needs help from it's patrons. Please tell your friends and family so that this guy can hang on till better times. If I had the stomach capacity, I think I'd eat here for the lunch buffet ever day. Great variety, the buffet is different every time I come in. Great options for veggies and meat eaters alike. You can also get the buffet to go - for $16 or $17 bucks, you get a full-size to go box, plus two smaller tubs that you can fill to the brim with whatever buffet offerings you want, plus a side of naan. I waited on an order for a half an hour the other night not friendly actually kind of rude. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I called and placed an order and from the start, the service was awful. The person picking up the phone didn't even say that it was Apna Kitchen and then they were very rude throughout the whole conversation. He said the food would be ready by 5:35 and it wasn't ready until 5:50 so we had to wait a long time. Then, he called and said that they gave us the wrong spice level so we had to go back and pick it up again and he didn't even say sorry. When we asked to talk with the owner, he said the owner wasn't there and to come back later when the owner came. Overall, very disappointed with Apna's service today and will not be going back again. We always go for the buffet so I can't comment on their table service and individual entrees but the food on the buffet is always superb. Lots of variety and always served hot. Lots of vegetarian options as well. They bring naan to the table to go with your meal. Staff always friendly and attentive to refill water glasses.
