I had solar PV panels installed to supplement my water heater system in a glorious effort to lower what was becoming an ever growing power bill. Between all of the household appliances and the increased air conditioner use to keep things cool (and sane), the power bill was going up... So it was a worthwhile investment. Many years later, I noticed that the system wasn't producing quite as much power as it once did and after noticing the panels were quite filthy with mildew and dirt build-up, it was time something was done. After doing a google and a yelp search, a shortlist was quickly produced and I gave Clean Solar Panels Hawaii a call. Dorian happened to be in the area and quickly stopped by to produce a quote that he explained what would be done and how they would safely clean the panels. The cost-effective person in me still sought out a few quotes and found his to be the most reasonable and he made me feel the most comfortable with the work that was to be done. He and his associate came at the scheduled time and quickly started going to work. They were quiet and efficient to the point I didn't even know they were walking around on the roof above my head as I worked the day away... He was even able to fix a broken part on my system that prevented it from reporting the power production a few days later. The results came in that night when I turned on my shower and found the hot water practically scalding. The water panels clearly needed a cleaning after 15-20 years... The proof came in the next power bill where it clearly was producing far more power and the electric bill went considerably down. Was it cheap to clean, no....it was a little bit of an investment, but it definitely is worth it to see your electric bill go back down. So..... You've…read moreinvested in a PV system- you wonder if an annual cleaning and inspection is warranted. I would say it's definitely worth exploring. We have been using Pacific Panel Cleaners for over five years now and they have made sure our PV system is running as well as can be expected for it's age. The annual maintenance check includes washing and cleaning the PV system as well as independent solar water heating systems. What's great is they generate a multi page report that they mail to you which includes photos and descriptions of issues that were found and recommendations. This last inspection that was done recently, included a problem with the gateway unit which allows us and PPC to see how well the PV system is operating. It helps to pin point when components may have failed. In our case PPP was able to determine the gateway unit may have failed and they worked directly with the manufacturer and determined the unit was still under warranty. They arranged for the delivery and installed it later. After installation everything has been working fine. We have always have good service from Pacific Panel Cleaners. The team that came to our house was great, and was able install and test the new unit effectively and efficiently. A big mahalo to the PPP crew that came to help us, thank you to Doug, Nico and Connor for the great work. So if you have installed a PV system, it makes sense to keep it maintained properly to get the maximum efficiency out of it. An annual check up may be a useful investment and Pacific Panel Cleaners is worth checking out.
